Chapter 18: Hidden MessagesManvi stood in the empty house, the loneliness seemingly echoing her heartbeats which beat with pity for him. She longed to hold him, tell him he would be okay but she couldnt... She stared at her reflection with utter resentment at the fact she was useless at a time like this. Jeevika had told her 3 days ago and things were still the same today, he had not been out of his room and when he did leave for a meal it would be late at night so nobody could see his pain.
She had left that place to get away from it all but it seemed his thoughts could not escape her. She got up and smoothed her green salwar kamees.
Slowly, she picked up her ipod and placed the headphones in her ears. It seemed her feet were glued to the ground as the rhythm refused to move her. Suddenly, she heard the faint echo of a door knock. As she opened it, there stood a young man in his late twenties, dressed in a fine armani suit
And holding a black briefcase. He stared at her expectantly, till manvi realised he was expecting to be let in.
'make yourself at home'
'that wont be neccessary, i wont be here long'
'im sorry, i didnt get your name'
"manan, Malika Malhotras solicitor' he replied proffessionally holding his hand out.
'what do you want from me?'
As you may have heard 4 days ago, Miss Malhotra passed away, as the post mortem has now cleared, i am under oath to provide you with a few things she has put under your name"
'i dont understand'
'Malika has left a few things for you... She wanted you to have them"
He quietly leaned over and opened his briefcase... Inside he pulled out a brown envelope and a small box.
"please sign... Here and here" manan told her, motioning her with his pen.
Manvi leaned over, and scribbled her name, confused at what was taking place.She watched as Manan glanced at his watch and quickly closed his briefcase in a hurry.
'if i may be excused, i have somewhere that i have to be'
She led him out before returning to the cold room.
Slowly she opened the box and let her eyes fall on to the most beautiful cluster of diamonds shed ever seen, they glistened more than the stars in the sky and as she held it, a tear fell from her eye to her wrist as her heart pained for virat.
Hands shaking, she opened the brown envelope and pulled out a paper...

Sometimes you don't know what you're missing until you reach out to touch it. Soometimes you can't see how beautiful something is until it steps back into the light. I tried very hard to live by the saying 'be true to yourself' and to live life for myself because, ultimately, no one else is going to get anything out of it but me. I worked hard to let people be who they are, knowing that any amount of judging them won't change them. There are many things I can say I needed in life, but when it comes down to it, the only thing that made me happy when I was having a bad day, is knowing he loved me. Because there are those times when you forget how it feels to be alive, and the pain is worse than being dead.It's so sad how we can go through life hating people, thinking that they are so different from us. It is only when we see them at their weakest point, seeing their vulnerability, that we start to realize how similar we all actually are to one another, and how hate is really misunderstanding.Ask yourselfWhy is it that hate comes out so easily, yet...love? It gets trapped inside, eventually you will come to understand that love heals everything, and love is all there is to get us through.You can't wait around cause you'll never know what hand you're going to get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes to you. To make each day count, virat has become my reason for life, my every breath was for him now i have left, donot let him stop breathing... I know that when i am no longer there virat will forget to breathe... I want you to show him that he is living even when i am not, manvi i want you to love him enough for both of us. Dont let him think for even one moment that i have stopped loving him for i truly love him even after the breaths have left my body.
