Chapter 2- Troublesome behaviour

"Welcome all new students at King's College. I am delighted to see you all and I hope you all have a great year. Please check your timetables and your form groups which should be collected at the main desk. Thank you."

Manvi tried not to let Maya's words hurt her. It was her first day and nothing was going to ruin it. A girl appeared beside Manvi as she was lost in thought. "Hi, I'm Tina, is it your first day too?" Manvi looked at the girl who was dressed in black jeans and a gold top. "Hi I'm Manvi. Yup it's my first day here." Manvi smiled and felt better. At least it was keeping her away from thinking about Virat and Maya. "Great, so do you want to be friends?" Tina asked. "Sure" Manvi replied and was glad she found a new friend. Tina's mobile began to beep. "Manvi, do you want to come to the coffee shop after college. They do the most amazing drinks and coffee?" "Sure, I'd love to come, meet you at the gates after college. Bye" Manvi walked off to her first lesson as the bell rang.

Manvi's first lesson was chemistry. She searched through her bag as she walked along the corridor looking for her timetable. As she walked she suddenly tripped and stumbled onto a familiar body. It was Virat. He had on that same smile she saw in the morning. "Hi, we met before, remember? I'm Virat. And you are…?" Manvi was about to reply when Maya's voice started to echo in her head. "Stay away from him, I'm warning you." Manvi turned furious and walked away leaving Virat confused.

Tina and Manvi walked over to the coffee shop. It was a beautiful shop which smelt heavenly of coffee. The shop was painted cream and a row of chestnut tables were neatly presented. The aroma of vanilla drifted in the air and the hot steaming liquid from the coffee machine floated in serpentine waves. "Wow this is beautiful" Manvi was mesmerised by the beauty of the coffee shop. She'd never smelt coffee so sweet and revitalising. As Tina and Manvi took a seat, a man appeared to take their orders. "Hello ladies, what can I get you?" Manvi turned around as she remembered the familiar voice. "Hi Virat, we will have to coffees please and make them as delicious as you always do." Tina looked up at Virat smiling checking out his biceps. Manvi looked at him in disgust. "Hey Tina, don't worry my coffee will never let you down." Virat smiled and then looked over at Manvi who was looking on the floor. "And you must be Manvi, right?" Manvi shrugged. Virat looked at Manvi for a moment his eyes searching her face before he walked away.

"Two hot coffees for two hot ladies" Virat appeared with two cups of steaming coffee. "Oh that's lovely Virat, thank you" Tina beamed as she started to sip her coffee. Tina's phone started to ring, "Excuse me Manvi, I'll just be back." Tina walked away leaving Virat and Manvi alone.

Manvi felt awkward. Even though she was staring at her coffee she could feel Virat's eyes on her. Manvi finally broke the silence. "Will you stop staring at me, its creepy."

"Why are you so mad at me?"

"Why would I be mad? Because you bumped into me this morning. Because your girlfriend is so rude? Or is it because you told your girlfriend that I was flirting with you and was trying to make a move on you?"

"Flirting. I didn't tell her you were flirting with me. In fact I didn't mention you at all to her."

"Yeah well that's what your girlfriend Maya said."

"I didn't say anything like that and you can flirt with me whenever you like"

Manvi looked at Virat sourly. "I'm not that kind of girl."

"I know you're not." Virat stared at Manvi making Manvi blush hard. Maybe it's the coffee she thought. "So how's the coffee." Virat asked. "It's alright" Manvi replied. It's not alright, it's the best coffee she's ever tasted, and she just didn't want to admit it. Virat smirked and then started to laugh.

"What's so funny?" Manvi demanded

"You've got a coffee moustache" Virat was still laughing at Manvi. Manvi reached out to get a tissue to wipe it off when Virat's hand stopped her. His touch made her jolt slightly as she felt warmth run through her body. "Here let me" Virat said softly. He leaned across and before Manvi realises it, Virats lips are on her soft and gentle. He tastes of vanilla and Manvi could feel her heart racing. She's never been kissed but somehow Virat's lip on hers was perfect she didn't want to let go. He slowly pulled apart and smiled. "I'll see you later Manvi."

Chapter 3- Rain it falls

It was raining heavily outside. Manvi stood at the bus stand observing the teardrops flowing from the sky in a melodic rhythm. She could feel some of the rain pelting her which was laced with a revitalising scent.

Tina had already taken a bus which travelled in the opposite direction to Manvi's home. Manvi observed the people scuffling around trying to find to get into a bus. They were all packed and it was almost impossible to find one at rush hour. Manvi closed her eyes inhaling the deep scent of woodiness. As she relaxed she recollected the memory of her kiss with Virat. She was meant to be upset and mad but for some reason she just couldn't. She remembered his piercing eyes and the charming smile which was bound to make any girl smile.

Suddenly a voice woke her up from. "We could always go home together." The voice sent shivers down her back. Manvi abruptly opened her eyes. It was Virat. He was standing just a few inches away from her. His hair was slightly wet from the rain and he was wearing that same intoxicating smile. "No that's fine; I'll just wait for a bus." Manvi hesitantly spoke keeping her distance away from him in case he leaned in to kiss her again. "Don't be silly. It's pouring and freezing cold. You won't find a bus right now. Tell you what; my car is just round the corner. We can just walk it and ill drive you home." Manvi stood there looking at him. She was hesitant to go. What if Maya was there? "There's no one in the car it's just you and me. And you don't need to worry I won't kiss you again." It was like he could read her mind. He grinned and made it made Manvi relax.

Manvi made her way into Virat's black land rover. It smelt of mints and polished leather. "So which area do you live?" Virat asked as he made a left turn. "Just near the Jensen's mall. There's a block of apartments on the left on Saville Road." Virat nodded and smiled. "So… you and Maya. How long you been dating?" Manvi was curious to know more about Maya and her relationship with Virat.

"Dating? We're not really dating or have dated. I mean she was my closest friend since high school. We used to hang out a lot and spend time together. I never really did think of her in that way, she's not my type. She changed a lot after high school and we started to drift apart. She cared mostly about money, fashion and makeup. Since then she's been quite possessive over me. Why so curious"

"Ahh, umm nothing, I'm just asking that's all" Manvi blushed as she got caught out.

"So do you, um, have a boyfriend?"

"Me? No I'm single and I've never dated any guy before."

"What about your family?"

"I live with my older sister Jeevika. My mum and dad passed away when I was young. Since then my Jeevika Di has been my mum, dad, friend, brother and sister."

"I'm sorry. I know how you feel. I lost my dad years back. I live with my mum and brother Viren and my bua and dadajji. They've always been there for me since my dad's death."

Manvi could feel Virat's pain when he spoke those words. She wanted to hold his hand and tell him everything was going to be okay.

"Here we are." Virat parked the car outside the apartments.

"Thank you for the ride."

"No problem. I'll see you around." Manvi waved as he drove off and she walked into her apartment.

The morning arrived and Manvi felt joyous and happy. Virat made her smile, made her feel something, something that she has never experienced. As she walked outside off to college a black land rover was parked outside. Virat stood there in a pair of cargo pants and a white slim tee, his arms folded which showed off his biceps and one leg propped on the front of his bumper. "Hey" he said as he unfolded his arms. "What are you doing here?" Manvi asked surprised. "Well I was passing down this area and I thought I might give you a lift to college."

"Were you stalking me?" Manvi asked amused.

"No, just being friendly."

Manvi smiled and agreed as she got into his car.
