"who's stopping me?"
"i am"
"you can't"
"we'll see"
"i don't require a favour Mr. Raizada"
"and I don't wish to do one"
"then why are you doing this"
"because it's not"
"excuse me?"
"you are coming to my home on my sister's invitation. No favour"
Khushi kept silent and the two walked out of RM with several pairs of eyes glued to them which made Khushi feel weird..
once out they moved in opposite directions...
Arnav halted. Then the ASR within him rose in anger...Khushi kept walking away..
"hello!" he shouted..
she turned.. "yes?"
"the car's that way"
she took a breath...
"i told you I can help myself Mr Raizada"
Arnav stood staring at her for a few moments then resumed walking towards the car..
seeing him walk away, Khushi breathed a sigh of relief and resumed with her own walking..
she had barely walked a few steps when a car screeched to a halt beside her..she turned to see Arnav in his aviators looking straight ahead in the driving seat..
she rolled her eyes and walked a few steps more..
the plastic expression still stuck to his face he moved the car along with her..she stopped, the car halted..
she walked again and the car restarted..she stopped ...it stopped..enough!
Khushi tapped on his window screen..
he turned his head towards her and took his aviators off..then with the same ASR expression kept looking as if there was nothing weird about what he was doing..
Khushi fumed..
"what are you doing?"
"what I said i'd do. Dropping you home"
"this way??"
"its how you preferred"
"i never preferred such a weird thing"
"there were two options, you chose the latter. I am late. Hurry"
"and you'll drive this way by my side to RM????"
he kept looking straight and as a response placed his hands back on the steering wheel to show he was ready...
"this is ridiculous!"
"you can't do this"
Arnav remained silent then looked at her, "i damn well can"
she knew he damn well could..this man was insane!!! he had totally lost it!! he said meant he said ..no seconds about that..
"if you find driving me home disgusting then why do it??"
his brows furrowed in confusion a little as he turned to look at her..she stood with her nostrils puffed...
"i never said that"
"you did"
Arnav Singh Raizada didn't repeat things..he clicked open his side's door and jumped out..she moved back in surprise..
he went and opened the door of the other side..
"you don't even have an idea what 'disgusting' can be" his tone held a warning in it...
she gulped..
"first say you don't find it disgusting"
he looked incredulously at her..one moment she was the perfect professional, the other, worse than a child..
"i never said I did"
"then fine" she muttered and climbed inside...
Arnav hid a smirk which had surfaced involuntarily at her "then fine"...just like a child trying to prove she was getting her way when she wasn't..
he hopped in to his own side..
and FINALLY the car moved towards RM...
there was complete silence for a few moments inside the car and Khushi was growing increasingly conscious of it..
they stopped at the traffic signal and there was a tap at Arnav's window side..
he rolled the glass down and even Khushi craned her neck to see who it was.. a little boy stood cupping his hands before them, signalling to his mouth..
a big lump immediately settled itself in Khushi's throat..
Arnav shifted and took his wallet outside and started to pass a 100 rupees note towards the boy when immediately Khushi stopped him
"WHAT are you doing??"
Arnav looked confused, then signalled to the boy..
"i can see that! Please keep the money inside"
"what?"
"keep the money inside.."
he could see she was already rummaging inside her larger than necessary handbag..
"Khushi you don't need to ! I'm giving-"
he stopped when he saw khushi lean towards his side of the window..
"what the!" he excalimed in shock and then looked at what she was doing
Khushi held two burger sized buns in her hands...the little boy's eyes immediately lit up with delight unlike the indifference he seemed to have when the money had been stretched to him and he literally grabbed it out of her hands and skipped away..
Arnav looked absolutely shocked and he turned with questioning eyes towards Khushi..
Reading his thoughts she spoke
"the child was hungry Mr Raizada..these children go through the worst imaginable torcher..they are forced to beg by scoundrels who don't let them have even a proper meal for what they do..it is not to be encouraged! Your money would please someone different altogether which I am sure is not your intention..that money can't make the child happy, food will.."
now the lump in the throat hopped from her throat to his as he stared lost at her...
it would take decades to decipher this woman..what was she?? how many more facets was he yet to see??
he shook his head..as if he would even see her again!! why was he even thinking..
"Mr Raizada?" Khushi spoke, confusion lacing her voice...
he snapped out.. "huh?"
"um...why aren't we moving?"
Arnav turned to see cars whizzing past them and quickly started the car..
Khushi furrowed her brows then continued looking outside the window..
"you always carry buns in that?" Arnav spoke as curiousity took the better of him..
Khushi giggled..
he glanced at her
she giggled so sweetly..so innocently...
note to self- STOP!!!
"that was supposed to be my lunch..my mother will go mad to know what happens to these 'lunchs' very often.."
Arnav looked at her incredulously..
"and what if you weren't coming to my home? What about lunch then?"
"oh I could always buy something, and by the way, it's not like i'm never going home"
Arnav couldn't believe her.. she was ...unbelievable!
The car screeched to a halt outside RM..and they moved out..
"thanks" khushi spoke..
silence
"excuse me!" she stopped him as he strode towards the house..
he turned.. "hm?"
"i said thanks"
he nodded.. " I heard"
this man had a BIG attitude problem!!
"by the way" he spoke "i'll be out in a while..the driver will take you back..don't bother yourself"
silence
"excuse me!" he stopped her as she strode towards the house..
"i said I won't be there , the driver will take you back, don't bother"
she nodded.. "i heard"
he narrowed his eyes as it hit him and she bit her lip mischievously as she made her way inside..
tit for tat Mr Raizada..
