Hey guys...updated the full chapter...its quite long and some may find it a little silly but I always wondered what it would be like if they weren't at loggerheads all the time!
Chapter 1
"What the hell are they doing?" asked Khushi peering over the menu at the couple staring at each other, seated on the table in a corner of the cafe.
Sighing, Arnav put down the book that he was reading reluctantly and said," Khushi will you please get your head out of that menu? What is so special about your elder sister sitting with my elder brother in a cafe, anyway?"
Khushi slapped the menu down on the table and asked him dramatically," What is so special? What is SO special? Isn't it special enough that our respective siblings are sitting together in a caf? I say we find out what is going on between them!" Arnav and Khushi had spent half the time in that cafe and this was the first time Payal and Akash were there together
Arnav mentally reminded himself that she was his best friend before answering resolutely," No! We are not going to interfere. It's their personal lives. Besides, I think it's pretty obvious that they are here on a small date of sorts. So just stop poking your nose and let them enjoy!"
Khushi pouted and said, "Please?"
Arnav said with firm determination," Akash has been trying to get a date with your sister for quite a long time. The whole college knows about them liking each other. Probably even the professors know about it. Now that he has finally picked up the courage and asked her out, I will not let you ruin it by going there and asking any weird questions. Do you get that Khushi Kumari Gupta?"
But Khushi didn't even flinch. She was used to the famous and unpredictable outbursts of her childhood best friend, Arnav Singh Raizada.
Instead of putting up her hands in surrender, she asked as if she hadn't heard him at all," But why not? We have the right to! We are a part of their lives too! They have no reason to feel embarrassed in front of us! Let's investigate; it will be so much fun." She rubbed her hands in glee thinking about how she could tease the hell out of them.
Arnav eyed her suspiciously and knew that she was up to no good. She never was. Still thinking about why they were best friends, he asked her,
"Khushi, are we Scooby Doo and Shaggy?"
"No. Just in case, you are Scooby Doo."
He ignored her comment and continued,
"Then, are we Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson?"
"I didn't know we were at Bakers Street!" She replied smoothly, as she craned her neck to get a better look at Akash and Payal who were now talking with shy smiles on their faces.
He scowled at her and asked,
"Are we Castle and Beckett?"
That got her attention immediately and she said wistfully," I wish!"
A very amused and pleased Arnav said," Hence, I conclude that we have no right what so ever to go there and disturb two people on a date. This discussion has been permanently adjourned."
That brought an end to Khushi's Richard Castle-trance and she looked up at Arnav annoyed with his corporate behavior. So what if he was going to be taking over the Raizada Industries from his father? It gave him absolutely no right to talk to her as if he had just finished a damned business meeting!
Arnav returned to his book and smirked knowing he had struck a nerve. He knew that it irritated her to no end when he would talk to her like he was talking to some business associates about a deal. So, he would talk like that when he needed her to stop talking. And that happened every day. A lot.
However, Khushi Kumari Gupta was a woman on mission. And her first mission was'convincing Arnav Singh Raizada. She excitedly said," But why do we need to be any of them, we both" she said pointing her finger to him and her herself to emphasize her point, then continued," are Arnav and Khushi, and isn't it enough? We are the best team there ever was! And you know it!" She had wanted to say Khushi and Arnav but she had killed the feminist in her just to convince the obstinate man in front of her.
Arnav put his book down deciding that he wouldn't be able to move past a word, raised an eyebrow at her and narrowed his eyes. She was dead set on convincing him. He bit back a smirk thinking how much effort it must have taken her to say Arnav and Khushi instead of Khushi and Arnav. He mentally agreed with her on the best team part but no ways was he going to tell her that. It will only make her convincing easier.
He looked at Akash and Payal. They were both enjoying each other's company and it would be just plain awkward for them to pop up near their table and letting Khushi loose on them. Hypothetically, their conversation would go something like this:
Khushi (with a very surprised look on her face and speaking loud enough for even the watchman outside to peek in):"DI, what are you doing here? And that too with Akash? This is such a big surprise!!"
Payal (embarrassed, blushing flustered and everything else that describes reddening of cheeks): Khushi, umm'actually, Akash and I were just discussing the final term project. We have to submit it by the end of this week.
Akash (pushing his spectacles on the bridge of his nose again and again out of nervousness): Uhhh'.Yeah that is exactly what we were doing. Project. Yeah. Right. Project. A very important one.
Arnav (nods understandably and sympathetically at them)
Khushi (smiling sweetly and hiding a wicked grin and devil's horns): Oh! A project you say? I am so sorry for disturbing you'll! It's just that I never knew projects could be better worked upon in caf's holding each other's hands and with a bouquet of roses. That's something new right, Arnav?
Arnav (refuses to acknowledge Khushi's presence because everyone is staring at them like their conversation was the interesting twist of a daily soap)
Khushi (ignores Arnav and looks at the now reddened faces of both Akash and Payal and grins at them unabashedly enjoying the "Caught-red-handed" expressions on their faces): Gotcha!! Now, please tell me Akash, HOW did you finally convince my sister? WHEN did you ask her? WHAT did you tell her? Di, WHEN are you going to tell Mom? She is going to be overjoyed!! And Aunty will be so proud of you Akash!
Arnav (shakes his head wanting to pull Khushi away and seal her mouth with duct tape before she kills his brother from embarrassment alone)
Khushi (pulls a chair and sits and starts demanding detailed description of everything)
Payal and Akash(look at each other wishing that the ground would open up swallow them up then and there and give Arnav a pleading look to save them from the never ending teasing of Khushi)
Arnav was brought out of his nightmarish thoughts by Khushi's clicking of fingers. He shuddered at his thoughts and became more determined not to give into Khushi's demands. He would not be able to save the day this time. No one would be able to save Payal and Akash once Khushi walked to that table.
On second thoughts, may be even he would join her in teasing. He agreed that teasing them was the best amusement, thanks to both of their shy temperament. But today was not the day when he would join Khushi in troubling Akash. There would be many other opportunities in the future, he was sure of that.
So, he told Khushi," Nope. No matter how much you flatter me, I am not joining you today. Besides, you can ask Payal all the questions you want once you reach home. Patience is the best virtue, my friend."
Khushi immediately said," But it's not as much fun to tease Di alone. When they are together, it is more fun to'"
Arnav cut her off," Nah. Not happening. If you are so curious, go ahead and do it alone. Don't get me involved. I don't want to die at Mom's hands. Not so soon."
Khushi stuck her tongue out at him," If I had wanted to do it alone, I wouldn't have sat here so long trying to convince you. It's not even a lot of fun if you are not there to throw in one or two of your cynical comments. Let's just drop it. You put my mood off it by being a stubborn mule."
Arnav grinned at the insult," Mission accomplished. And once again this cafe is witness to the victory of Arnav Singh Raizada over Khushi Kumari Gupta. Oh! How I love winning!"
Khushi snorted," Pfft!! There was nothing to win. This cafe is just a witness once again to your I-only-know-how-to-say-"no" attitude.
Arnav retorted," What the-!!You know that is an absolute lie! I don't always refuse to do things. I only refuse to do things which are not sane. It's not my fault that most of the things that you suggest are completely insane!"
Khushi decided this was her chance. She said," Oh yeah? OK, so what about NK?Are you going to do what I told you to? Or is that also too insane for you to do?"
Arnav thought for about a minute before saying," Khushi, drop it. Talking to NK for something like that is not just silly but also very school-girlish. Let's go home now. It's getting late."
Khushi looked up at the wall clock. It was nearly six in the evening.
She gave Arnav an Are-you-serious looks before saying," It's just six o'clock. Just six o'clock. We have never gone home before eight!! Arnav, are you fine?"
Arnav simply said," Yeah, I am completely fine. Just feel like going early today. You coming?"
Khushi nodded, not forgetting about the NK matter and got up. Before leaving the cafe, she gave one last look to Akash and Payal who were oblivious to everyone around them and then she gave Arnav one last hopeful look. Arnav just shook his head. They walked out of the cafe with Khushi muttering something along the lines of "Laad Governor" and a "dominant pig".
Arnav cleared his throat," It's rude to call people names in their presence."
Khushi scowled at his amused face," Oh is it? Good, it was meant to be!!"
Arnav laughed freely at how she was trying to hurt him and failing miserably. Khushi couldn't help but join in and they laughed for a long time, not caring about the weird looks that the passing people gave them.
After some time, when they had finally managed to contain in their laughter, they walked in the direction of their homes together.
Near the gate of Khushi's house, she reminded him," Arnav, you know I haven't forgotten about the NK matter yet, right?"
Turning to go towards his own house which was just next to her's, Arnav grinned and said," I know. I'll think about it. For now, Adios."
Mimicking him, Khushi countered in a squeaky voice," I'll think about it." and entered her house.
So...how is it?good enough?and don't worry will clear out the NK thing by the next chapter...its kind of easy to guess...😉maybe some of you'll will come to know it too...😊
