Chapter - 19

(AR)

"Muski, tu... yahaan... kaise...?", his sentence was left incomplete.

"Haan Bhai, aap late nahi huye ho"

"Par Muski, tujhe kaise pata, i mean..."

"Areh! Bhai, Principal sir had just dashed into me, or maybe i dashed into him. Considering the fact that he was the one who didn't pay attention, he dashed into me, but on the other hand, i also wasn't paying attention, so i too dashed into him. But then again..."

"Muskaan Mallik, do you mind shutting up and coming right to the point", Armaan spoke, frustrated of her no sense nonsense. She saw his face and immediately pressed her lips tight. He looked at her expectantly, as she looked back with a straight face.

"Oh no! What did i do to deserve this?", Armaan mumbled as he smacked his head. "Ok Muskaan, now you can speak and tell me what the matter is..."

"Hu... haan Bhai, thank you, mujhe bolne dene ke liye, verna aapko to pata hai na, main self-control se hie suffocate ho jate, sheesh! But no problem, better late than never, aapne mujhe bolne diya, and that's whats important, and moreover..."

"MUSKAAN! Come to the point damnit!", Armaan shouted through his ears, and Muskaan knew she had crossed the limits.

"Yahaan-aate-huye-mujhe-abi-abi-Principal-sir-mile-they-aur-unhone-bola-ki-chief-guest-land-karne-wale-hain-aur-aap-unhe-receive-karne-ke-liye-kisi-ko-bhej-do-bada-ajeeb-sa-naam-hai-unka-plus-flight-details-bi-hain-maine-paper-pe-likhi-thi-kahan-gaya-wo-paper-ek-minute-Bhai-haan-ye-mil-gaya-chalo-ok-Bhai-bye-have-fun-see-ya", Muskaan said it all in one breath, and ran away before he could speak something, handing him the slip of paper she'd just fished out from her pocket. He shook his head in annoyance, and was about to throw the parchment, but recalling his duty to the college, he called one of his juniors and read out the details to him. He was about to throw away the paper, when something at the back caught his eye.

'on-the-spot singing cum karaoke competition
song name - my heart will go on by Celine Dion'

Armaan wondered why was Muskaan carrying this. He knew she hadn't participated in the competition. She couldn't sing to save her life. But then realization struck him. All of a sudden his question was answered. The scene at the stage played back in his mind. Muskaan was the person who'd offered the bowl to Riddhima, and if Armaan wasn't wrong, she'd pocketed the slip. One riddle was solved, but the next question was that why did Riddhima sing a different song? Had it been some other song, he would've assumed that she was unknown to the lyrics, but he was aware of the fact that she knew this song only too well. It was a song closer to her heart, but still she sung a different song. He knew the reason, and he wasn't liking it, not at all.

Next morning, in college, the Principal called Armaan to inform him that he was to leave immediately for a student's conference being held in Panchgani, as the representative of their college. The conference was one week long, and it was mandatory for him to attend it, as no other person could be found. Sulking, Armaan left making all the preparations within no time.

For Armaan, one week in Panchgani passed like not less than 1 year. He avoided any calls from his friends and family, as he knew they would be filled how life's good again, as Riddhima is back to the college. Once when he was talking to Muskaan, she'd told him that Riddhima hardly spends any time outside the house. Usually, she liked being in her house with Rahul and Muskaan. That was how the three were spending their time. And Muskaan didn't forget to mention that Abhimanyu was not as strict as he had seemed to be, as he also hanged with them, and was a fun person. They all had a gala time with Riddhima's family, and Muskaan would have never shut up, had Armaan not cut the call. It seemed to Armaan that Riddhima's life was getting back on the track, just like he'd wanted it to be. He should've been happy, but thinking about Riddhima every moment, and the fact that she was happy with someone else, killed a part of him, with every passing second. Even in the conferences and the lectures, Riddhima's smiling face flashed in front of his eyes, and he was unable to do anything to wipe it off. Due to lack of his focus on anything else, he planned to come back a day earlier, than he'd intended to. He told his father about his plan, who in turn gave him another work to do, on his way back. He was supposed to collect some important papers from their branch in Panchgani, and was to deliver them to their clients in Mumbai. He tried to avoid it, but his father insisted. The papers were very important, and no one else could be relied onto. Armaan agreed, and his father gave him the address. As soon as Armaan entered the outskirts of Mumbai, something stir in him. He felt as something was going to happen, he called Muskaan involuntarily, and she told him that she was out to watch a movie. Out of nowhere, he asked if all the others were fine, Sumit, Simran, Anny, Chako, Rahul, Riddhima, and the others. To this, she replied they were all well, and he would better cut the call, she wanted to watch the movie. Even after knowing that Riddhima was safe and sound, Armaan's heart didn't calm down. Somehow, he managed to drive to his destination. His dad had called up to tell him that their client was at home today, and not at the office. So Armaan had driven to their house instead, and when he entered the mansion like house, he was told by the guards to go straight inside. He moved through the garden, and stood in front of the main gate, ringing the bell. He waited for 5 minutes, but got no response. He again rung the bell, and this time in continuation for about 3 to 4 times, and stood smiling like a naughty kid. Just then, he heard the sound of the knob being turned, and immediately straightened up, with his chest puffing out, and the wide grin adorned on his lips. The door opened, and the sight that greeted him left his wits hit on the wrong spot.

"' haan Bade Papa, main khol rahi hoon gate, dekhti hoon kaun itna impatient hai'"

Her face turned towards the back, as she shouted the words to someone, Riddhima stood in front of him, dressed in a white t-shirt with a sponge bob's face glowing brightly on it, and a pair of tight fitted denim shorts, that reached her knees. She appeared very petite to Armaan, as her hair was tied loosely in a clutch, strands of which bordered her face. As soon as she turned her face, she realized that it was him and her eyes grew wide, hidden by the specs which irritated him, as they obstructed her beautiful eyes from him. She was too numb to react as pressed the book she'd been holding to her chest, while her other hand took support from the handle of the door.

"Riddhima'",

"Riddhu! Kaun hai gate pe? Sun, Mr Mallik ke yahaan se koi aane wala tha, mujhe kuch papers dene, kahin wo to nahi hai?"

Both Armaan and Riddhima's faces turned back, to see a man descend the stairs as he spoke to Riddhima.

"Bade Papa! Wo darasal ye'", Riddhima tried to speak something, but Armaan cut her in between.

"Mr Shashank Gupta, main hie aaya hoon, aapko wo papers dene", he moved ahead past Riddhima, inside the house as she closed the door silently.

"Oh chalo achha hua. Aao aao, baitho beta", Shashank gestured him to settle down on the sofa, as he himself sat on the opposite seat.

"Main paani lati hoon", Riddhima spoke in a soft voice, and tried to leave, when Shashank stopped her.

"Riddhu, aap kyun takleef leti hain. Maine kitchen mein kehal wa diya tha, koi na koi aata hie hoga. Aap baith jaeeye, aur apni book continue kijiye. Aapko apni Badi Ma aur Nikki ke ghar aane se pehle book padhke mujhe aur Abhimanyu ko iska end batana hai. We obviously can't lose the bet to them, can we?", Shashank gave a small laugh, which made Riddhima smile.

"Bade Papa, aap bohut bure ho! Hamesha mujhse cheating karate ho", Riddhima whined as she stiffled the smile that had almost reached her lips.

"Bacche, aap aisa mat kahiye. Aap hie to meri aur Abhimanyu ki hope hain, aap hamare saath aisa karengi?", Shashank pouted, and Riddhima burst out laughing.

"Rehne dijiye Bade Papa, apni nautanki band kijiye, main aap dono ko book padhke batati hoon", she smiled.

"Yeh hui na baat. Mujhe pata hai, mera kuch bhi ho, tum apne pyaare Abhimanyu ko haarte huye nahi dekh sakti na?", Riddhima just shook her head at this, and that was when she realized that Armaan was listening to all of it. She suddenly went back to her sober expressions.

"Bade Papa, aap log kaam kijiye, main andar jaake book padhti'"

"Areh nai beta, humein aisa koi kaam nahi hain. Aap apni favorite jagah pe jaake baithiye, main jaanta hoon ki jab tak aap wahaan nahi baithengi, aapko book ka maza nahi aayega"

With this, Riddhima gave Armaan another glance, as she got up, and settled on the long resting chair that was placed there, right next to a glass door, which was slightly open. As Riddhima settled there, Armaan had a direct view of her, unlike Shashank, whose back faced her. The glass door presented a view to the garden, and through the slight opening, slow breeze came inside, whose presence Armaan realized due to the movement in Riddhima's hair. As Shashank called out to someone to get water, Armaan saw Riddhima glance at him again and again, as her face was filled with lots of confusion, and nervousness. Then, Shashank engaged him, and Riddhima went back to reading her book. Armaan stole glances of her, but he noticed that she was totally into the book, unaware of the happenings around her.

"So young man'", Shashank started.

"Armaan, Armaan Mallik sir", he completed.

"Oh! Armaan Mallik, matlab aap Billy ke bete hain?"

"Aap dad ko jaante hain?", Armaan sounded surprised.

"Beta, aapko yahaan Billy ne hie bheja hain na?", Shashank sounded serious, and Armaan realized his folly.

"Of course sir! Mera matlab tha ki aap dad ko personally jaante hain?", he immediately replied, worried that he'd offended Shashank.

"Hahahaha! Kya beta, itni jaldi serious ho gaye? Aap ki generation bhi na, mazaak nahi samajhti. I was just pulling your leg", Armaan also laughed a little with him.

"Sir aap mujhe yeh 'aap' kehke mat bulaiye. Thoda weird lagta hai", Armaan requested in a small voice.

"To phir aap bhi mujhe sir mat kahiye, thoda old lagta hai. Main to aapka uncle laga na", Shashank smiled at him.

"Ok uncle!", Armaan flashed his dimples.

"Ab aaye na aap line pe...", Shashank was cut in between, as Armaan glared at him, "Areh beta! Aapko humein ignore karna hoga. Actually wo aap udhar dekh rahe hain", he leaned towards Armaan and pointed to Riddhima who sat there lost of the reality, he continued in a whisper, "Wo hamare ghar ki Hitler sahiba hain. Bhagwan jaane unki mamma ne unhe kya khake paida kiya tha? Kehne ko to wo mujhe Bade Papa kehti hain, but mujhe itna strictly rakhti hain, ki sabko wo Badi lagti hain, aur useh aap kehte kehte, main baakiyo ko bhi aap hie kehta hoon. So let's just ignore it, ok?", Shashank looked adoringly at Riddhima, as his words sunk in Armaan. If Shashank wasn't Riddhima's dad, then perhaps he was Abhimanyu's dad, and that meant that Riddhima lived with them. What happened to her parents? As these questions played in his mind, his thoughts were left midway as he heard the loud commotion around him.

"BHOOO!"

"AAAHHH!"

This was followed by Shashank getting up and turning to laugh as Armaan moved aside to see what had actually happened. He saw Riddhima with a shocked expression covering her face that changed as soon as she saw Abhimanyu laugh his head off. She glared at him, who went to sit next to her, and hugged her. But she immediately pushed him back.

"Jao! Main nahi aapse baat karti", her nostrils flared up as she turned her face in an opposite direction.

"Kiddo!", Abhimanyu called her in a pleading tone, and she did nothing but huffed.

"Maine nai karni na aapse baat. Aap aur Bade Papa, dono bohut kharab ho. Ab to main aapko book bhi nahi padhke bataoongi, haaro apni bet", she said.

"Kiddo yaar, thodi masti to chalti hai na. Dekh, abhi past ke thode din theek nahi they, aur finally tu hum sabse khul kar baat karne lagi hai hasne lagi hai. Mujhe iska maza to lene de", Abhimanyu said in a serious tone, at which Riddhima turned to look at him.

"Par hamesha mujhe tang karna zaruri hai kya? Kuch aur nahi kar sakte aap, something else, something creative?", she asked.

"Kuch aur? Matlab abhi ke liye I am forgiven, right?", Riddhima turned her face to look around to avoid his gaze, but when she saw his face fall down, she smiled and nodded her head. Abhimanyu also smiled at her, and hugged her from the side. Armaan saw them, and felt their love pinch him in his heart. He turned his head, and gulped hard, as he blinked the tears that threatened to fall off his eyes any moment. Suddenly, he felt Shashank touching his shoulder.

"Beta! Abhimanyu aapse baat karna chahta hai", Shashank pointed towards the direction, and when Armaan turned his face, he saw Abhimanyu still glued to Riddhima.

"Main aapse baat kar raha tha, lekin aap to apni hie duniya mein gum they", he spoke.

"I am sorry, maine suna nahi. Aap kuch keh rahe they mujhse?", Armaan managed to push the words out of his mouth. Abhimanyu got up, and came to stand near him. Riddhima also got up, looking at him nervously.

"Yes! Main keh raha tha ki maine aapko kahi dekha hai. Do we know each other?", Abhimanyu repeated his question, looking at him curiously. Armaan saw Riddhima panic, as she looked alternately at him and Abhimanyu.

"I am Armaan Mallik, actually Riddhima aur main college mein saath hain. Aapne mujhe us din St Stefens mein dekha tha, aur wo college fest ke din bhi", he spoke, and Riddhima let out the breath she'd caught, as she waited for Abhimanyu's answer in anticipation.

"Areh haan! Yaad aa gaya, I remember your face from there. But we didn't talk, right?", Armaan nodded at that. "Hmmm! So tum aur Kiddo ek hie class mein ho?", he looked at Riddhima.

"Ji nahi! Main uska senior hoon", he replied as they all settled down again.

"To phir tum Kiddo ko kaise jaante ho?", Abhimanyu looked at him suspiciously.

"Ji wo main college ke newspaper ka Editor hoon, aur Riddhima meri Assistant Editor hai. Moreover Riddhima aur meri behen Muskaan best friends hain", Armaan completed, as he stole a glance to look at Riddhima, who was sitting amongst them, with a downcast head.

"Wow! Muskaan tumhari behen hai, matlab wo bhi Billy ki beti hai", Shashank exclaimed, to which Armaan nodded.

"Agar tum Muskaan ke bhai ho, to I am sure tum bhi uske jaise hie hoge? Anyways, Muskaan is a nice girl, Riddhima has good friends in the college", Abhimanyu pondered to himself.

"Beta! If you don't remember, Rahul bhi usi college mein hai, and he's a good friend of Riddhima too", Shashank said in a tone, which Armaan didn't understand.

"Us gadhe ka naam mat lijiye mere saamne", Abhimanyu suddenly got up as his voice raised, but he sobered down as soon as he saw Shashank and Riddhima stifling their laughter, "Kya dad? Aap na meri taang kheenchna band kijiye. Aur Kiddo, tu bhi has le zor zor se, ruk kyun gayi? Mujhe to samajh nahi aata ki tumhe wahi idiot kyun mila dost banane ko, aur wo bewakoof, Atul jaise intelligent aur achhe insaan ka cousin kaise ho sakta hai'", Abhimanyu kept on speaking things.

Armaan's eyes widened at the fact that Rahul and Atul were cousins.

"Rahul Atul ka bhai hai?", Armaan spoke a bit loudly, and took the glass of water placed in front of him.

"Haan, lagte nahi hain na? jaise mere ye do shaitan, koi kahega ye dono bhai behen hain?", Shashank gestured towards the two, who immediately high-fived with each other and smiled at each other. Armaan spluttered the water he was drinking, and the glass fell from his hands, as the others present immediately gathered around him with worried expressions on their faces.

"Armaan, beta aap theek to hain na?", Shashank shook Armaan, who was busy looking at Abhimanyu and Riddhima.

"Tum dono bhai behen ho?", he asked, aghast.

"Dad, lagta hai ki iseh shock lag gaya hai. Iseh pehle bithana padega, aur main jaake doctor ko call karta hoon", Abhimanyu spoke and he moved away to call the doctor.

"Riddhu beta, aap Armaan ko guest room mein le jaeeye. Main Billy ko call karke batata hoon", Shashank also went to make his call, as Riddhima helped Armaan get up, and led him to the nearest guest room. Armaan had his gaze fixed at the retreating back of Abhimanyu, and he seemed to be mumbling something. Even when Riddhima made him sit on the bed, his back resting against the bed post, he was lost in his own world. Riddhima got worried at his state, and sitting beside him, she shook him.

"Armaan! Armaan! Tum theek to ho na, kya hua tumhe", Armaan regained his senses when he heard her voice. He looked at her, as she was blinking back the tears in her eyes, with worry making her face go pale.

"Main theek hoon Riddhima", he spoke, and Riddhima saw that he was fine.

"Main Bade Papa ko bata kar aati hoon", she ran, before he could say a word.

Armaan went through the events in his mind, as he recalled Abhimanyu's over-protectiveness. As pieces fell in their right places, he smacked his head for being so stupid, and for not seeing the truth right from the beginning. Just then, he heard footsteps, and in the next instant, Shashank came in the room, followed by Abhimanyu and Riddhima.

"Beta, kaise hain aap?"

"Uncle, main bilkul theek hoon. Doctor ko bhi bulane ki zarurat nahi hai", Armaan smiled a bit to let them know he was fine.

"Par tumhe hua kya tha? Tum kuch mumble bhi kar rahe they?", Abhimanyu asked him.

"Wo kuch nahi, bas I guess I got lost momentarily. Wo itna travel karke thak gaya hoon na", Armaan replied.

"Chalo jo bhi tha, I am glad you're fine now. Meri aapke dad se baat ho gayi hai. I've told him ki aap kuch kha peeke aur thoda rest karke hie aayenge. Riddhu beta, he's your friend, I think you should look after him. Main inke khaane peene ke liye kuch bhijwata hoon. Aur Abhimanyu, aap chalke ek bar wo papers dekh lijiye ji Armaan laaye hain", the two men walked out of the room closing the gate slightly.

"Main tumhare khaane ke liye kuch lati hoon", saying this, Riddhima turned to go away, when Armaan moved forward, and holding her wrist, pulled her back. Unaware of his intention, Riddhima fell back on the bed, such that she hit his chest. Their faces were right next to each other, and both were lost in the other's eyes. They let their eyes talk to each other, savoring the presence of the other, after such a long separation.

Riddhima's eyes flashed all the questions that had been clouding her heart and mind since so many days. Armaan's eyes apologized for his behavior. Riddhima shook her head, not accepting his apology, given the ordeal she had to go through, because of him, as she turned her face away from him. But Armaan was in no mood to give up so easily today. Shifting a little, so that she was comfortable, he used his one hand to turn her face, while his other hand snaked around her waist. He saw that to avoid him, she'd closed her eyes.

"Riddhima..."

"Please Armaan, jaane do mujhe. Agar Bade Papa ya Bhai aa gaye, to mere liye problem ho jayegi", she said.

"Ek bar meri baat sun lo, please", he pleaded.

"Kyun? Aaj apni girl-friend Mallika paas nai gaye? Aaj wo bore kar rahi hogi na, ya phir kahi usne tumhe to nahi bhaga dia?", she asked, sarcasm dripping in her voice.

"Mallika meri girl-friend nahi hai... aur ye tum bhi jaanti ho..."

Riddhima's eyes flew open at this, while at what she spoke next, Armaan was flown away.

"Oh! To phir tumhare yahaan aane ki wajah kya ho sakti hai? Let me think, Mallika tumhari girl-friend nahi hai, right? And as far as i think, koi aur bhi nahi hai, which means, you are single, and ready to mingle, with every available girl, like you're trying out with me, right now, like many other previous occasions... because...",

"Yaar Riddhima, tum sachi bohut chapar-chapar karti ho", mumbling the words loud enough for her to hear, Armaan pulled her closer to himself, and smashed his lips on her. As expected, Riddhima tried pushing him, and moving away from him, but he had it sorted. Clasping both her hands into one of his, and the other one behind her face, pushing her towards him, he didn't let her escape. He kissed her gently, but with a determination of not to let her go. She didn't give into the kiss, as he continued kissing her. But the lack of force in his kiss, made her slowly loose her senses. She felt intimidated by his proximity, and the havoc he was creating into her. She'd been fervoured the last time, when it had been her first kiss, 'their first kiss', even though she'd taken the initiative. But this time, she was caught totally unawares the way Armaan was kissing her. He was extremely gentle, but there was a different feeling this time, that begged Riddhima to kiss him back. She felt a strong wave of emotion, as she too surrendered to her feelings, unable to control herself anymore. When he felt her give in, he released her hands, and instead brought them to her waist, desperately in search of something. She moved her hands in desperation, as all her desires came out at once. They both kissed each other hungrily, as if there was no tomorrow. When they ran out of oxygen, they separated, but not for too long as Armaan took her again for a deep kiss. He lifted her t-shirt a bit, as his hands played on her bare skin. She felt an electric jolt as soon as his skin touched hers, and unable to understand the desires of her heart, her hands also made way into his shirt. She pressed herself closer to him, not wanting to let go. Armaan felt the soft of her body merge into his hard chest, raising the testosterone level in his body. Her fingers worked on his back seducing him to no extent. He pulled her more into himself, as they didn't stop kissing. One of his hands made way to the front of her body, caressing her navel. She moaned in pleasure as she hissed his name. Letting go of her lips, he bent his head in the crook of her neck, and kissed her like there was no tomorrow. She arched her head to give him a better access, and her hand moved up in his hair, pushing him towards her, and the other clutching his back tightly. He left a trail of wet kisses as he rose from her neck, and bringing her face closer to his, planted a kiss right next to her lips, barely missing an inch, as she'd turned her face slightly in the nick of time. Armaan felt the desire burning within him, as her ever so lush lips, swollen a bit now, tempted him more and more, asking him to swoon and claim them. As he bent forward to close the distance between them, Riddhima moved her face forward to his side, and rubbed her cheek against his. She heard him groan, as her soft skin let loose the electrical sensation all around his body. She knew he wanted to kiss her, but she didn't want to give in so easily. She was enjoying the slight irritation on his face as he bore the painful pleasure. She herself felt a strong urge to feel his lips on hers, but right now, she wanted to play with him, teasing him, as a punishment to all that he'd made her go through. She kissed his cheeks, and bit his earlobe ever so lightly, which made him clench her even more tightly. She clenched his hair as she felt the passion melting her insides. Raising her head a little above his, as he held her by her waist with both hands, she kissed his forehead such that his mouth touched her neck. He didn't let go of this opportunity, and rolled his tongue over her neck, as she gasped due to the tickling sensation his touch had created.

"Armaan", she let out his name softly on an impulse, as she ruffled his hair, and it seemed to bind him in that magical tone. It was as if he didn't want anything else in his life, than to hear her speak his name with so much love. Love???

"I love you Riddhima", he whispered softly, but she seemed to have heard it, as he felt her body stiffen. She brought her body back to his level, and looked at him with wide eyes, boring directly into his. He knew like everytime, he had said the wrong thing, and now she was hurt, or maybe angry. He didn't really know, as her expressions were quite unreadable.

"Kya kaha tumne?", she finally stuttered.

"Nothing... I just... leave it Riddhima, forget i ever said anything", he said, trying hard to cover up his mistake, as he turned his head to look other sides. She cupped his face in her hands softly, and made him look at her in the eye.

"Fir se bolo"

The tone that she used had him captivated, and the magic of her eyes twisted a knot in him, and like a hypnotized person, he rambled what he'd said, as he held her waist for support.

"I love you Riddhima, i love you so much that i can't tell you how...", he felt his eyes widen up, and his words cut short, as Riddhima pushed her face and smashed her lips on his. He was a little taken aback, like the first time, but nevertheless, balancing himself a little, he kissed her back. Her hands had moved to snake around his neck, while his worked at her back on her skin furiously, bringing her closer to melt into him. He was almost lying on the bed, his head supported by the headrest, and she lay on top of him, her legs entwined with his. They kissed each other hungrily, the desire to hold each other tightly burning in their veins.

Suddenly Armaan felt something wetten his face, but didn't bother about it. But when he felt more water sticking to his cheeks, he opened his eyes, and noticed that small water droplets flowed from Riddhima's closed eyes. He immediately held her shoulders, and pushed her a little away. Her eyes flew open at the sudden movement, and he asked in a tense voice.

"Riddhima... Riddhima kya hua? Why are you crying?", she sniffed between his questions, "I'm sorry Riddhima, i didn't want to hurt you, trust me, i really didn't. Look, see... please stop crying, can you listen to me, stop crying... I... I'll stay away from you...", he left her free, "Please Riddhima, rona band kardo... I take my words back, okay... forget everything...", she put her finger on his lips and he stopped speaking. With the pearls glimmering in her eyes, she spoke in a watery voice,

"Bohut mushkil se bole ho, kaise bhool jaoon?", he scrunched his eyebrows in confusion, "I have been waiting since so long to hear these words from you. Itne mushkil nahi they ki tumne itna wait karaya", she looked accusingly, and lowered her eyes. He saw the pain she was trying to hide, and lifting her chin by his finger, he asked.

"Maine nahi bola, to tum bol deti?", he removed her finger from his mouth.

"Kaise bol deti, kahin tumne mana kar dia hota to?", she replied in her soft voice.

"Bharosa nahi tha apne pyaar par?"

"Tha, pyaar par bharosa tha, par apni kismat per nahi tha. Tum nahi jaante Armaan, agar tumne mere pyaar ko reject kar dia hota, to main jeete jee mar gayi...", this time he cut her midsentence, by gently sealing her mouth with his lips. Before it could turn into a deeper kiss reflecting their love, they heard some voices. Riddhima immediately separated herself from him, and rushed into the bathroom right at a two step distance. Armaan realized the situation, and straightened himself, running a hand through his messed up hair and his face. He rubbed his finger through his lips, and smiled the feel of her lips. Inside the bathroom, Riddhima slammed the door tight and stood right there, the door supporting her back, as she slid down and sat. She felt her heart banging loudly across her ribcage, wanting an escape. She touched her face, caressing herself, feeling Armaan's touch all over it, and settling her fingers on her lips, she recalled the magic of his kiss.

Chapter - 19

(MANEET)

"Tara, tu... yahaan... kaise...?", his sentence was left incomplete.

"Haan Bhai, aap late nahi huye ho"

"Par Tara, tujhe kaise pata, i mean..."

"Areh! Bhai, Principal sir had just dashed into me, or maybe i dashed into him. Considering the fact that he was the one who didn't pay attention, he dashed into me, but on the other hand, i also wasn't paying attention, so i too dashed into him. But then again..."

"Tara Khurana, do you mind shutting up and coming right to the point", Maan spoke, frustrated of her no sense nonsense. She saw his face and immediately pressed her lips tight. He looked at her expectantly, as she looked back with a straight face.

"Oh no! What did i do to deserve this?", Maan mumbled as he smacked his head. "Ok Tara, now you can speak and tell me what the matter is..."

"Hu... haan Bhai, thank you, mujhe bolne dene ke liye, verna aapko to pata hai na, main self-control se hie suffocate ho jate, sheesh! But no problem, better late than never, aapne mujhe bolne diya, and that's whats important, and moreover..."

"Tara! Come to the point damnit!", Maan shouted through his ears, and Tara knew she had crossed the limits.

"Yahaan-aate-huye-mujhe-abi-abi-Principal-sir-mile-they-aur-unhone-bola-ki-chief-guest-land-karne-wale-hain-aur-aap-unhe-receive-karne-ke-liye-kisi-ko-bhej-do-bada-ajeeb-sa-naam-hai-unka-plus-flight-details-bi-hain-maine-paper-pe-likhi-thi-kahan-gaya-wo-paper-ek-minute-Bhai-haan-ye-mil-gaya-chalo-ok-Bhai-bye-have-fun-see-ya", Tara said it all in one breath, and ran away before he could speak something, handing him the slip of paper she'd just fished out from her pocket.

Maan wondered why was Tara carrying this. He knew she hadn't participated in the competition. She couldn't sing to save her life. But then realization struck him. All of a sudden his question was answered. The scene at the stage played back in his mind. Tara was the person who'd offered the bowl to Geet, and if Maan wasn't wrong, she'd pocketed the slip. One riddle was solved, but the next question was that why did Geet sing a different song? Had it been some other song, he would've assumed that she was unknown to the lyrics, but he was aware of the fact that she knew this song only too well. It was a song closer to her heart, but still she sung a different song. He knew the reason, and he wasn't liking it, not at all.

Next morning, in college, the Principal called Maan to inform him that he was to leave immediately for a student's conference being held in Panchgani, as the representative of their college. The conference was one week long, and it was mandatory for him to attend it, as no other person could be found. Sulking, Maan left making all the preparations within no time.

For Maan, one week in Panchgani passed like not less than 1 year. He avoided any calls from his friends and family, as he knew they would be filled how life's good again, as Geet is back to the college. Once when he was talking to Tara, she'd told him that Geet hardly spends any time outside the house. Usually, she liked being in her house with Dev and Tara. That was how the three were spending their time. And Tara didn't forget to mention that Aditya was not as strict as he had seemed to be, as he also hanged with them, and was a fun person. They all had a gala time with Geet's family, and Tara would have never shut up, had Maan not cut the call. It seemed to Maan that Geet's life was getting back on the track, just like he'd wanted it to be. He should've been happy, but thinking about Geet every moment, and the fact that she was happy with someone else, killed a part of him, with every passing second. Even in the conferences and the lectures, Geet's smiling face flashed in front of his eyes, and he was unable to do anything to wipe it off. Maan agreed, and his father gave him the address. As soon as Maan entered the outskirts of Mumbai, something stir in him. He felt as something was going to happen, he called Tara involuntarily, and she told him that she was out to watch a movie. Out of nowhere, he asked if all the others were fine, Sumit, Simran, Anny, Chako, Dev, Geet, and the others. To this, she replied they were all well, and he would better cut the call, she wanted to watch the movie. Even after knowing that Geet was safe and sound, Maan's heart didn't calm down. Somehow, he managed to drive to his destination. His dad had called up to tell him that their client was at home today, and not at the office. So Maan had driven to their house instead, and when he entered the mansion like house, he was told by the guards to go straight inside.

Her face turned towards the back, as she shouted the words to someone, Geet stood in front of him, dressed in a white t-shirt with a sponge bob's face glowing brightly on it, and a pair of tight fitted denim shorts, that reached her knees. She appeared very petite to Maan, as her hair was tied loosely in a clutch, strands of which bordered her face. As soon as she turned her face, she realized that it was him and her eyes grew wide, hidden by the specs which irritated him, as they obstructed her beautiful eyes from him. She was too numb to react as pressed the book she'd been holding to her chest, while her other hand took support from the handle of the door.

"Geet'",

"Geet! Kaun hai gate pe? Sun, Mr Khurana ke yahaan se koi aane wala tha, mujhe kuch papers dene, kahin wo to nahi hai?"

Both Maan and Geet's faces turned back, to see a man descend the stairs as he spoke to Geet.

"Bade Papa! Wo darasal ye'", Geet tried to speak something, but Maan cut her in between.

"Mr Mohinder Handa, main hie aaya hoon, aapko wo papers dene", he moved ahead past Geet, inside the house as she closed the door silently.

"Oh chalo achha hua. Aao aao, baitho beta", Mohinder gestured him to settle down on the sofa, as he himself sat on the opposite seat.

"Main paani lati hoon", Geet spoke in a soft voice, and tried to leave, when Mohinder stopped her.

"Geet, aap kyun takleef leti hain. Maine kitchen mein kehal wa diya tha, koi na koi aata hie hoga. Aap baith jaeeye, aur apni book continue kijiye. Aapko apni Badi Ma aur Pinky ke ghar aane se pehle book padhke mujhe aur Aditya ko iska end batana hai. We obviously can't lose the bet to them, can we?", Mohinder gave a small laugh, which made Geet smile.

"Bade Papa, aap bohut bure ho! Hamesha mujhse cheating karate ho", Geet whined as she stiffled the smile that had almost reached her lips.

"Bacche, aap aisa mat kahiye. Aap hie to meri aur Aditya ki hope hain, aap hamare saath aisa karengi?", Mohinder pouted, and Geet burst out laughing.

"Rehne dijiye Bade Papa, apni nautanki band kijiye, main aap dono ko book padhke batati hoon", she smiled.

"Yeh hui na baat. Mujhe pata hai, mera kuch bhi ho, tum apne pyaare Aditya ko haarte huye nahi dekh sakti na?", Geet just shook her head at this, and that was when she realized that Maan was listening to all of it. She suddenly went back to her sober expressions.

"Bade Papa, aap log kaam kijiye, main andar jaake book padhti'"

"Areh nai beta, humein aisa koi kaam nahi hain. Aap apni favorite jagah pe jaake baithiye, main jaanta hoon ki jab tak aap wahaan nahi baithengi, aapko book ka maza nahi aayega"

With this, Geet gave Maan another glance, as she got up, and settled on the long resting chair that was placed there, right next to a glass door, which was slightly open. As Geet settled there, Maan had a direct view of her, unlike Mohinder, whose back faced her. The glass door presented a view to the garden, and through the slight opening, slow breeze came inside, whose presence Maan realized due to the movement in Geet's hair. As Mohinder called out to someone to get water, Maan saw Geet glance at him again and again, as her face was filled with lots of confusion, and nervousness. Then, Mohinder engaged him, and Geet went back to reading her book. Maan stole glances of her, but he noticed that she was totally into the book, unaware of the happenings around her.

"So young man'", Mohinder started.

"Maan, Maan Khurana sir", he completed.

"Oh! Maan Khurana, matlab aap Billy ke bete hain?"

"Aap dad ko jaante hain?", Maan sounded surprised.

"Beta, aapko yahaan Billy ne hie bheja hain na?", Mohinder sounded serious, and Maan realized his folly.

"Of course sir! Mera matlab tha ki aap dad ko personally jaante hain?", he immediately replied, worried that he'd offended Mohinder.

"Hahahaha! Kya beta, itni jaldi serious ho gaye? Aap ki generation bhi na, mazaak nahi samajhti. I was just pulling your leg", Maan also laughed a little with him.

"Sir aap mujhe yeh 'aap' kehke mat bulaiye. Thoda weird lagta hai", Maan requested in a small voice.

"To phir aap bhi mujhe sir mat kahiye, thoda old lagta hai. Main to aapka uncle laga na", Mohinder smiled at him.

"Ok uncle!", Maan flashed his dimples.

"Ab aaye na aap line pe...", Mohinder was cut in between, as Maan glared at him, "Areh beta! Aapko humein ignore karna hoga. Actually wo aap udhar dekh rahe hain", he leaned towards Maan and pointed to Geet who sat there lost of the reality, he continued in a whisper, "Wo hamare ghar ki Hitler sahiba hain. Bhagwan jaane unki mamma ne unhe kya khake paida kiya tha? Kehne ko to wo mujhe Bade Papa kehti hain, but mujhe itna strictly rakhti hain, ki sabko wo Badi lagti hain, aur useh aap kehte kehte, main baakiyo ko bhi aap hie kehta hoon. So let's just ignore it, ok?", Mohinder looked adoringly at Geet, as his words sunk in Maan. If Mohinder wasn't Geet's dad, then perhaps he was Aditya's dad, and that meant that Geet lived with them. What happened to her parents? As these questions played in his mind, his thoughts were left midway as he heard the loud commotion around him.

"BHOOO!"

"AAAHHH!"

This was followed by Mohinder getting up and turning to laugh as Maan moved aside to see what had actually happened. He saw Geet with a shocked expression covering her face that changed as soon as she saw Aditya laugh his head off. She glared at him, who went to sit next to her, and hugged her. But she immediately pushed him back.

"Jao! Main nahi aapse baat karti", her nostrils flared up as she turned her face in an opposite direction.

"Kiddo!", Aditya called her in a pleading tone, and she did nothing but huffed.

"Maine nai karni na aapse baat. Aap aur Bade Papa, dono bohut kharab ho. Ab to main aapko book bhi nahi padhke bataoongi, haaro apni bet", she said.

"Kiddo yaar, thodi masti to chalti hai na. Dekh, abhi past ke thode din theek nahi they, aur finally tu hum sabse khul kar baat karne lagi hai hasne lagi hai. Mujhe iska maza to lene de", Aditya said in a serious tone, at which Geet turned to look at him.

"Par hamesha mujhe tang karna zaruri hai kya? Kuch aur nahi kar sakte aap, something else, something creative?", she asked.

"Kuch aur? Matlab abhi ke liye I am forgiven, right?", Geet turned her face to look around to avoid his gaze, but when she saw his face fall down, she smiled and nodded her head. Aditya also smiled at her, and hugged her from the side. Maan saw them, and felt their love pinch him in his heart. He turned his head, and gulped hard, as he blinked the tears that threatened to fall off his eyes any moment. Suddenly, he felt Mohinder touching his shoulder.

"Beta! Aditya aapse baat karna chahta hai", Mohinder pointed towards the direction, and when Maan turned his face, he saw Aditya still glued to Geet.

"Main aapse baat kar raha tha, lekin aap to apni hie duniya mein gum they", he spoke.

"I am sorry, maine suna nahi. Aap kuch keh rahe they mujhse?", Maan managed to push the words out of his mouth. Aditya got up, and came to stand near him. Geet also got up, looking at him nervously.

"Yes! Main keh raha tha ki maine aapko kahi dekha hai. Do we know each other?", Aditya repeated his question, looking at him curiously. Maan saw Geet panic, as she looked alternately at him and Aditya.

"I am Maan Khurana, actually Geet aur main college mein saath hain. Aapne mujhe us din St Stefens mein dekha tha, aur wo college fest ke din bhi", he spoke, and Geet let out the breath she'd caught, as she waited for Aditya's answer in anticipation.

"Areh haan! Yaad aa gaya, I remember your face from there. But we didn't talk, right?", Maan nodded at that. "Hmmm! So tum aur Kiddo ek hie class mein ho?", he looked at Geet.

"Ji nahi! Main uska senior hoon", he replied as they all settled down again.

"To phir tum Kiddo ko kaise jaante ho?", Aditya looked at him suspiciously.

"Ji wo main college ke newspaper ka Editor hoon, aur Geet meri Assistant Editor hai. Moreover Geet aur meri behen Tara best friends hain", Maan completed, as he stole a glance to look at Geet, who was sitting amongst them, with a downcast head.

"Wow! Tara tumhari behen hai, matlab wo bhi Billy ki beti hai", Mohinder exclaimed, to which Maan nodded.

"Agar tum Tara ke bhai ho, to I am sure tum bhi uske jaise hie hoge? Anyways, Tara is a nice girl, Geet has good friends in the college", Aditya pondered to himself.

"Beta! If you don't remember, Dev bhi usi college mein hai, and he's a good friend of Geet too", Mohinder said in a tone, which Maan didn't understand.

"Us gadhe ka naam mat lijiye mere saamne", Aditya suddenly got up as his voice raised, but he sobered down as soon as he saw Mohinder and Geet stifling their laughter, "Kya dad? Aap na meri taang kheenchna band kijiye. Aur Kiddo, tu bhi has le zor zor se, ruk kyun gayi? Mujhe to samajh nahi aata ki tumhe wahi idiot kyun mila dost banane ko, aur wo bewakoof, Abhinav jaise intelligent aur achhe insaan ka cousin kaise ho sakta hai'", Aditya kept on speaking things.

Maan's eyes widened at the fact that Dev and Abhinav were cousins.

"Dev Abhinav ka bhai hai?", Maan spoke a bit loudly, and took the glass of water placed in front of him.

"Haan, lagte nahi hain na? jaise mere ye do shaitan, koi kahega ye dono bhai behen hain?", Mohinder gestured towards the two, who immediately high-fived with each other and smiled at each other. Maan spluttered the water he was drinking, and the glass fell from his hands, as the others present immediately gathered around him with worried expressions on their faces.

"Maan, beta aap theek to hain na?", Mohinder shook Maan, who was busy looking at Aditya and Geet.

"Tum dono bhai behen ho?", he asked, aghast.

"Dad, lagta hai ki iseh shock lag gaya hai. Iseh pehle bithana padega, aur main jaake doctor ko call karta hoon", Aditya spoke and he moved away to call the doctor.

"Geet beta, aap Maan ko guest room mein le jaeeye. Main Billy ko call karke batata hoon", Mohinder also went to make his call, as Geet helped Maan get up, and led him to the nearest guest room. Maan had his gaze fixed at the retreating back of Aditya, and he seemed to be mumbling something. Even when Geet made him sit on the bed, his back resting against the bed post, he was lost in his own world. Geet got worried at his state, and sitting beside him, she shook him.

"Maan! Maan! Tum theek to ho na, kya hua tumhe", Maan regained his senses when he heard her voice. He looked at her, as she was blinking back the tears in her eyes, with worry making her face go pale.

"Main theek hoon Geet", he spoke, and Geet saw that he was fine.

"Main Bade Papa ko bata kar aati hoon", she ran, before he could say a word.

Maan went through the events in his mind, as he recalled Aditya's over-protectiveness. As pieces fell in their right places, he smacked his head for being so stupid, and for not seeing the truth right from the beginning. Just then, he heard footsteps, and in the next instant, Mohinder came in the room, followed by Aditya and Geet.

"Beta, kaise hain aap?"

"Uncle, main bilkul theek hoon. Doctor ko bhi bulane ki zarurat nahi hai", Maan smiled a bit to let them know he was fine.

"Par tumhe hua kya tha? Tum kuch mumble bhi kar rahe they?", Aditya asked him.

"Wo kuch nahi, bas I guess I got lost momentarily. Wo itna travel karke thak gaya hoon na", Maan replied.

"Chalo jo bhi tha, I am glad you're fine now. Meri aapke dad se baat ho gayi hai. I've told him ki aap kuch kha peeke aur thoda rest karke hie aayenge. Geet beta, he's your friend, I think you should look after him. Main inke khaane peene ke liye kuch bhijwata hoon. Aur Aditya, aap chalke ek bar wo papers dekh lijiye ji Maan laaye hain", the two men walked out of the room closing the gate slightly.

"Main tumhare khaane ke liye kuch lati hoon", saying this, Geet turned to go away, when Maan moved forward, and holding her wrist, pulled her back. Unaware of his intention, Geet fell back on the bed, such that she hit his chest. Their faces were right next to each other, and both were lost in the other's eyes. They let their eyes talk to each other, savoring the presence of the other, after such a long separation.

Geet's eyes flashed all the questions that had been clouding her heart and mind since so many days. Maan's eyes apologized for his behavior. Geet shook her head, not accepting his apology, given the ordeal she had to go through, because of him, as she turned her face away from him. But Maan was in no mood to give up so easily today. Shifting a little, so that she was comfortable, he used his one hand to turn her face, while his other hand snaked around her waist. He saw that to avoid him, she'd closed her eyes.

"Geet..."

"Please Maan, jaane do mujhe. Agar Bade Papa ya Bhai aa gaye, to mere liye problem ho jayegi", she said.

"Ek bar meri baat sun lo, please", he pleaded.

"Kyun? Aaj apni girl-friend Mallika paas nai gaye? Aaj wo bore kar rahi hogi na, ya phir kahi usne tumhe to nahi bhaga dia?", she asked, sarcasm dripping in her voice.

"Mallika meri girl-friend nahi hai... aur ye tum bhi jaanti ho..."

Geet's eyes flew open at this, while at what she spoke next, Maan was flown away.

"Yaar Geet, tum sachi bohut chapar-chapar karti ho", mumbling the words loud enough for her to hear, Maan pulled her closer to himself, and smashed his lips on her. As expected, Geet tried pushing him, and moving away from him, but he had it sorted. But this time, she was caught totally unawares the way Maan was kissing her. He was extremely gentle, but there was a different feeling this time, that begged Geet to kiss him back. When they ran out of oxygen, they separated, but not for too long as Maan took her again for a deep kiss. He lifted her t-shirt a bit, as his hands played on her bare skin. She felt an electric jolt as soon as his skin touched hers, and unable to understand the desires of her heart, her hands also made way into his shirt. She pressed herself closer to him, not wanting to let go. Maan felt the soft of her body merge into his hard chest, raising the testosterone level in his body. Maan felt the desire burning within him, as her ever so lush lips, swollen a bit now, tempted him more and more, asking him to swoon and claim them. As he bent forward to close the distance between them, Geet moved her face forward to his side, and rubbed her cheek against his.

"Maan", she let out his name softly on an impulse, as she ruffled his hair, and it seemed to bind him in that magical tone. It was as if he didn't want anything else in his life, than to hear her speak his name with so much love. Love???

"I love you Geet", he whispered softly, but she seemed to have heard it, as he felt her body stiffen.

"Nothing... I just... leave it Geet, forget i ever said anything", he said, trying hard to cover up his mistake, as he turned his head to look other sides. She cupped his face in her hands softly, and made him look at her in the eye.

"Fir se bolo"

The tone that she used had him captivated, and the magic of her eyes twisted a knot in him, and like a hypnotized person, he rambled what he'd said, as he held her waist for support.

"I love you Geet, i love you so much that i can't tell you how...", he felt his eyes widen up, and his words cut short, as Geet pushed her face and smashed her lips on his.

Suddenly Maan felt something wetten his face, but didn't bother about it. But when he felt more water sticking to his cheeks, he opened his eyes, and noticed that small water droplets flowed from Geet's closed eyes. He immediately held her shoulders, and pushed her a little away. Her eyes flew open at the sudden movement, and he asked in a tense voice.

"Geet... Geet kya hua? Why are you crying?", she sniffed between his questions, "I'm sorry Geet, i didn't want to hurt you, trust me, i really didn't. Look, see... please stop crying, can you listen to me, stop crying... I... I'll stay away from you...", he left her free, "Please Geet, rona band kardo...

Tum nahi jaante Maan, agar tumne mere pyaar ko reject kar dia hota, to main jeete jee mar gayi...", this time he cut her midsentence, by gently sealing her mouth with his lips. Before it could turn into a deeper kiss reflecting their love, they heard some voices. Geet immediately separated herself from him, and rushed into the bathroom right at a two step distance. Maan realized the situation, and straightened himself, running a hand through his messed up hair and his face. He rubbed his finger through his lips, and smiled the feel of her lips. Inside the bathroom, Geet slammed the door tight and stood right there, the door supporting her back, as she slid down and sat. She felt her heart banging loudly across her ribcage, wanting an escape. She touched her face, caressing herself, feeling Maan's touch all over it, and settling her fingers on her lips, she recalled the magic of his kiss.

Chapter - 19

(SAJAN)

"Suhu, tu... yahaan... kaise...?", his sentence was left incomplete.

"Haan Bhai, aap late nahi huye ho"

"Par Suhu, tujhe kaise pata, i mean..."

"Areh! Bhai, Principal sir had just dashed into me, or maybe i dashed into him. Considering the fact that he was the one who didn't pay attention, he dashed into me, but on the other hand, i also wasn't paying attention, so i too dashed into him. But then again..."

"Suhaani Shergill, do you mind shutting up and coming right to the point", Samrat spoke, frustrated of her no sense nonsense. She saw his face and immediately pressed her lips tight. He looked at her expectantly, as she looked back with a straight face.

"Oh no! What did i do to deserve this?", Samrat mumbled as he smacked his head. "Ok Suhaani, now you can speak and tell me what the matter is..."

"Hu... haan Bhai, thank you, mujhe bolne dene ke liye, verna aapko to pata hai na, main self-control se hie suffocate ho jate, sheesh! But no problem, better late than never, aapne mujhe bolne diya, and that's whats important, and moreover..."

"Suhaani! Come to the point damnit!", Samrat shouted through his ears, and Suhaani knew she had crossed the limits.

"Yahaan-aate-huye-mujhe-abi-abi-Principal-sir-mile-they-aur-unhone-bola-ki-chief-guest-land-karne-wale-hain-aur-aap-unhe-receive-karne-ke-liye-kisi-ko-bhej-do-bada-ajeeb-sa-naam-hai-unka-plus-flight-details-bi-hain-maine-paper-pe-likhi-thi-kahan-gaya-wo-paper-ek-minute-Bhai-haan-ye-mil-gaya-chalo-ok-Bhai-bye-have-fun-see-ya", Suhaani said it all in one breath, and ran away before he could speak something, handing him the slip of paper she'd just fished out from her pocket. He shook his head in annoyance, and was about to throw the parchment, but recalling his duty to the college, he called one of his juniors and read out the details to him. He was about to throw away the paper, when something at the back caught his eye.

Samrat wondered why was Suhaani carrying this. He knew she hadn't participated in the competition. She couldn't sing to save her life. But then realization struck him. All of a sudden his question was answered. The scene at the stage played back in his mind. Suhaani was the person who'd offered the bowl to Gunjan, and if Samrat wasn't wrong, she'd pocketed the slip. One riddle was solved, but the next question was that why did Gunjan sing a different song? Had it been some other song, he would've assumed that she was unknown to the lyrics, but he was aware of the fact that she knew this song only too well. It was a song closer to her heart, but still she sung a different song. He knew the reason, and he wasn't liking it, not at all.

Next morning, in college, the Principal called Samrat to inform him that he was to leave immediately for a student's conference being held in Panchgani, as the representative of their college. The conference was one week long, and it was mandatory for him to attend it, as no other person could be found. Sulking, Samrat left making all the preparations within no time.

For Samrat, one week in Panchgani passed like not less than 1 year. He avoided any calls from his friends and family, as he knew they would be filled how life's good again, as Gunjan is back to the college. Once when he was talking to Suhaani, she'd told him that Gunjan hardly spends any time outside the house. Usually, she liked being in her house with Adhiraj and Suhaani. That was how the three were spending their time. And Suhaani didn't forget to mention that Uday was not as strict as he had seemed to be, as he also hanged with them, and was a fun person. They all had a gala time with Gunjan's family, and Suhaani would have never shut up, had Samrat not cut the call. It seemed to Samrat that Gunjan's life was getting back on the track, just like he'd wanted it to be. He should've been happy, but thinking about Gunjan every moment, and the fact that she was happy with someone else, killed a part of him, with every passing second. Even in the conferences and the lectures, Gunjan's smiling face flashed in front of his eyes, and he was unable to do anything to wipe it off. Samrat agreed, and his father gave him the address. As soon as Samrat entered the outskirts of Mumbai, something stir in him. He felt as something was going to happen, he called Suhaani involuntarily, and she told him that she was out to watch a movie. Out of nowhere, he asked if all the others were fine, Sumit, Simran, Anny, Chako, Adhiraj, Gunjan, and the others. To this, she replied they were all well, and he would better cut the call, she wanted to watch the movie. Even after knowing that Gunjan was safe and sound, Samrat's heart didn't calm down. Somehow, he managed to drive to his destination. His dad had called up to tell him that their client was at home today, and not at the office. So Samrat had driven to their house instead, and when he entered the mansion like house, he was told by the guards to go straight inside.

"… haan Bade Papa, main khol rahi hoon gate, dekhti hoon kaun itna impatient hai…"

Her face turned towards the back, as she shouted the words to someone, Gunjan stood in front of him, dressed in a white t-shirt with a sponge bob's face glowing brightly on it, and a pair of tight fitted denim shorts, that reached her knees. She appeared very petite to Samrat, as her hair was tied loosely in a clutch, strands of which bordered her face. As soon as she turned her face, she realized that it was him and her eyes grew wide, hidden by the specs which irritated him, as they obstructed her beautiful eyes from him. She was too numb to react as pressed the book she'd been holding to her chest, while her other hand took support from the handle of the door.

"Gunjan…",

"Gunjan! Kaun hai gate pe? Sun, Mr Shergill ke yahaan se koi aane wala tha, mujhe kuch papers dene, kahin wo to nahi hai?"

Both Samrat and Gunjan's faces turned back, to see a man descend the stairs as he spoke to Gunjan.

"Bade Papa! Wo darasal ye…", Gunjan tried to speak something, but Samrat cut her in between.

"Mr Shashi Bhushan, main hie aaya hoon, aapko wo papers dene", he moved ahead past Gunjan, inside the house as she closed the door silently.

"Oh chalo achha hua. Aao aao, baitho beta", Shashi gestured him to settle down on the sofa, as he himself sat on the opposite seat.

"Main paani lati hoon", Gunjan spoke in a soft voice, and tried to leave, when Shashi stopped her.

"Gunjan, aap kyun takleef leti hain. Maine kitchen mein kehal wa diya tha, koi na koi aata hie hoga. Aap baith jaeeye, aur apni book continue kijiye. Aapko apni Badi Ma aur Tamanna ke ghar aane se pehle book padhke mujhe aur Uday ko iska end batana hai. We obviously can't lose the bet to them, can we?", Shashi gave a small laugh, which made Gunjan smile.

"Bade Papa, aap bohut bure ho! Hamesha mujhse cheating karate ho", Gunjan whined as she stiffled the smile that had almost reached her lips.

"Bacche, aap aisa mat kahiye. Aap hie to meri aur Uday ki hope hain, aap hamare saath aisa karengi?", Shashi pouted, and Gunjan burst out laughing.

"Rehne dijiye Bade Papa, apni nautanki band kijiye, main aap dono ko book padhke batati hoon", she smiled.

"Yeh hui na baat. Mujhe pata hai, mera kuch bhi ho, tum apne pyaare Uday ko haarte huye nahi dekh sakti na?", Gunjan just shook her head at this, and that was when she realized that Samrat was listening to all of it. She suddenly went back to her sober expressions.

"Bade Papa, aap log kaam kijiye, main andar jaake book padhti…"

"Areh nai beta, humein aisa koi kaam nahi hain. Aap apni favorite jagah pe jaake baithiye, main jaanta hoon ki jab tak aap wahaan nahi baithengi, aapko book ka maza nahi aayega"

With this, Gunjan gave Samrat another glance, as she got up, and settled on the long resting chair that was placed there, right next to a glass door, which was slightly open. As Gunjan settled there, Samrat had a direct view of her, unlike Shashi, whose back faced her. The glass door presented a view to the garden, and through the slight opening, slow breeze came inside, whose presence Samrat realized due to the movement in Gunjan's hair. As Shashi called out to someone to get water, Samrat saw Gunjan glance at him again and again, as her face was filled with lots of confusion, and nervousness. Then, Shashi engaged him, and Gunjan went back to reading her book. Samrat stole glances of her, but he noticed that she was totally into the book, unaware of the happenings around her.

"So young man…", Shashi started.

"Samrat, Samrat Shergill sir", he completed.

"Oh! Samrat Shergill, matlab aap Billy ke bete hain?"

"Aap dad ko jaante hain?", Samrat sounded surprised.

"Beta, aapko yahaan Billy ne hie bheja hain na?", Shashi sounded serious, and Samrat realized his folly.

"Of course sir! Mera matlab tha ki aap dad ko personally jaante hain?", he immediately replied, worried that he'd offended Shashi.

"Hahahaha! Kya beta, itni jaldi serious ho gaye? Aap ki generation bhi na, mazaak nahi samajhti. I was just pulling your leg", Samrat also laughed a little with him.

"Sir aap mujhe yeh 'aap' kehke mat bulaiye. Thoda weird lagta hai", Samrat requested in a small voice.

"To phir aap bhi mujhe sir mat kahiye, thoda old lagta hai. Main to aapka uncle laga na", Shashi smiled at him.

"Ok uncle!", Samrat flashed his dimples.

"Ab aaye na aap line pe...", Shashi was cut in between, as Samrat glared at him, "Areh beta! Aapko humein ignore karna hoga. Actually wo aap udhar dekh rahe hain", he leaned towards Samrat and pointed to Gunjan who sat there lost of the reality, he continued in a whisper, "Wo hamare ghar ki Hitler sahiba hain. Bhagwan jaane unki mamma ne unhe kya khake paida kiya tha? Kehne ko to wo mujhe Bade Papa kehti hain, but mujhe itna strictly rakhti hain, ki sabko wo Badi lagti hain, aur useh aap kehte kehte, main baakiyo ko bhi aap hie kehta hoon. So let's just ignore it, ok?", Shashi looked adoringly at Gunjan, as his words sunk in Samrat. If Shashi wasn't Gunjan's dad, then perhaps he was Uday's dad, and that meant that Gunjan lived with them. What happened to her parents? As these questions played in his mind, his thoughts were left midway as he heard the loud commotion around him.

"BHOOO!"

"AAAHHH!"

This was followed by Shashi getting up and turning to laugh as Samrat moved aside to see what had actually happened. He saw Gunjan with a shocked expression covering her face that changed as soon as she saw Uday laugh his head off. She glared at him, who went to sit next to her, and hugged her. But she immediately pushed him back.

"Jao! Main nahi aapse baat karti", her nostrils flared up as she turned her face in an opposite direction.

"Kiddo!", Uday called her in a pleading tone, and she did nothing but huffed.

"Maine nai karni na aapse baat. Aap aur Bade Papa, dono bohut kharab ho. Ab to main aapko book bhi nahi padhke bataoongi, haaro apni bet", she said.

"Kiddo yaar, thodi masti to chalti hai na. Dekh, abhi past ke thode din theek nahi they, aur finally tu hum sabse khul kar baat karne lagi hai hasne lagi hai. Mujhe iska maza to lene de", Uday said in a serious tone, at which Gunjan turned to look at him.

"Par hamesha mujhe tang karna zaruri hai kya? Kuch aur nahi kar sakte aap, something else, something creative?", she asked.

"Kuch aur? Matlab abhi ke liye I am forgiven, right?", Gunjan turned her face to look around to avoid his gaze, but when she saw his face fall down, she smiled and nodded her head. Uday also smiled at her, and hugged her from the side. Samrat saw them, and felt their love pinch him in his heart. He turned his head, and gulped hard, as he blinked the tears that threatened to fall off his eyes any moment. Suddenly, he felt Shashi touching his shoulder.

"Beta! Uday aapse baat karna chahta hai", Shashi pointed towards the direction, and when Samrat turned his face, he saw Uday still glued to Gunjan.

"Main aapse baat kar raha tha, lekin aap to apni hie duniya mein gum they", he spoke.

"I am sorry, maine suna nahi. Aap kuch keh rahe they mujhse?", Samrat managed to push the words out of his mouth. Uday got up, and came to stand near him. Gunjan also got up, looking at him nervously.

"Yes! Main keh raha tha ki maine aapko kahi dekha hai. Do we know each other?", Uday repeated his question, looking at him curiously. Samrat saw Gunjan panic, as she looked alternately at him and Uday.

"I am Samrat Shergill, actually Gunjan aur main college mein saath hain. Aapne mujhe us din St Stefens mein dekha tha, aur wo college fest ke din bhi", he spoke, and Gunjan let out the breath she'd caught, as she waited for Uday's answer in anticipation.

"Areh haan! Yaad aa gaya, I remember your face from there. But we didn't talk, right?", Samrat nodded at that. "Hmmm! So tum aur Kiddo ek hie class mein ho?", he looked at Gunjan.

"Ji nahi! Main uska senior hoon", he replied as they all settled down again.

"To phir tum Kiddo ko kaise jaante ho?", Uday looked at him suspiciously.

"Ji wo main college ke newspaper ka Editor hoon, aur Gunjan meri Assistant Editor hai. Moreover Gunjan aur meri behen Suhaani best friends hain", Samrat completed, as he stole a glance to look at Gunjan, who was sitting amongst them, with a downcast head.

"Wow! Suhaani tumhari behen hai, matlab wo bhi Billy ki beti hai", Shashi exclaimed, to which Samrat nodded.

"Agar tum Suhaani ke bhai ho, to I am sure tum bhi uske jaise hie hoge? Anyways, Suhaani is a nice girl, Gunjan has good friends in the college", Uday pondered to himself.

"Beta! If you don't remember, Adhiraj bhi usi college mein hai, and he's a good friend of Gunjan too", Shashi said in a tone, which Samrat didn't understand.

"Us gadhe ka naam mat lijiye mere saamne", Uday suddenly got up as his voice raised, but he sobered down as soon as he saw Shashi and Gunjan stifling their laughter, "Kya dad? Aap na meri taang kheenchna band kijiye. Aur Kiddo, tu bhi has le zor zor se, ruk kyun gayi? Mujhe to samajh nahi aata ki tumhe wahi idiot kyun mila dost banane ko, aur wo bewakoof, Benji jaise intelligent aur achhe insaan ka cousin kaise ho sakta hai…", Uday kept on speaking things.

Samrat's eyes widened at the fact that Adhiraj and Benji were cousins.

"Adhiraj Benji ka bhai hai?", Samrat spoke a bit loudly, and took the glass of water placed in front of him.

"Haan, lagte nahi hain na? jaise mere ye do shaitan, koi kahega ye dono bhai behen hain?", Shashi gestured towards the two, who immediately high-fived with each other and smiled at each other. Samrat spluttered the water he was drinking, and the glass fell from his hands, as the others present immediately gathered around him with worried expressions on their faces.

"Samrat, beta aap theek to hain na?", Shashi shook Samrat, who was busy looking at Uday and Gunjan.

"Tum dono bhai behen ho?", he asked, aghast.

"Dad, lagta hai ki iseh shock lag gaya hai. Iseh pehle bithana padega, aur main jaake doctor ko call karta hoon", Uday spoke and he moved away to call the doctor.

"Gunjan beta, aap Samrat ko guest room mein le jaeeye. Main Billy ko call karke batata hoon", Shashi also went to make his call, as Gunjan helped Samrat get up, and led him to the nearest guest room. Samrat had his gaze fixed at the retreating back of Uday, and he seemed to be mumbling something. Even when Gunjan made him sit on the bed, his back resting against the bed post, he was lost in his own world. Gunjan got worried at his state, and sitting beside him, she shook him.

"Samrat! Samrat! Tum theek to ho na, kya hua tumhe", Samrat regained his senses when he heard her voice. He looked at her, as she was blinking back the tears in her eyes, with worry making her face go pale.

"Main theek hoon Gunjan", he spoke, and Gunjan saw that he was fine.

"Main Bade Papa ko bata kar aati hoon", she ran, before he could say a word.

Samrat went through the events in his mind, as he recalled Uday's over-protectiveness. As pieces fell in their right places, he smacked his head for being so stupid, and for not seeing the truth right from the beginning. Just then, he heard footsteps, and in the next instant, Shashi came in the room, followed by Uday and Gunjan.

"Beta, kaise hain aap?"

"Uncle, main bilkul theek hoon. Doctor ko bhi bulane ki zarurat nahi hai", Samrat smiled a bit to let them know he was fine.

"Par tumhe hua kya tha? Tum kuch mumble bhi kar rahe they?", Uday asked him.

"Wo kuch nahi, bas I guess I got lost momentarily. Wo itna travel karke thak gaya hoon na", Samrat replied.

"Chalo jo bhi tha, I am glad you're fine now. Meri aapke dad se baat ho gayi hai. I've told him ki aap kuch kha peeke aur thoda rest karke hie aayenge. Gunjan beta, he's your friend, I think you should look after him. Main inke khaane peene ke liye kuch bhijwata hoon. Aur Uday, aap chalke ek bar wo papers dekh lijiye ji Samrat laaye hain", the two men walked out of the room closing the gate slightly.

"Main tumhare khaane ke liye kuch lati hoon", saying this, Gunjan turned to go away, when Samrat moved forward, and holding her wrist, pulled her back. Unaware of his intention, Gunjan fell back on the bed, such that she hit his chest. Their faces were right next to each other, and both were lost in the other's eyes. They let their eyes talk to each other, savoring the presence of the other, after such a long separation.

Gunjan's eyes flashed all the questions that had been clouding her heart and mind since so many days. Samrat's eyes apologized for his behavior. Gunjan shook her head, not accepting his apology, given the ordeal she had to go through, because of him, as she turned her face away from him. But Samrat was in no mood to give up so easily today. Shifting a little, so that she was comfortable, he used his one hand to turn her face, while his other hand snaked around her waist. He saw that to avoid him, she'd closed her eyes.

"Gunjan..."

"Please Samrat, jaane do mujhe. Agar Bade Papa ya Bhai aa gaye, to mere liye problem ho jayegi", she said.

"Ek bar meri baat sun lo, please", he pleaded.

"Kyun? Aaj apni girl-friend Mallika paas nai gaye? Aaj wo bore kar rahi hogi na, ya phir kahi usne tumhe to nahi bhaga dia?", she asked, sarcasm dripping in her voice.

"Mallika meri girl-friend nahi hai... aur ye tum bhi jaanti ho..."

Gunjan's eyes flew open at this, while at what she spoke next, Samrat was flown away.

"Yaar Gunjan, tum sachi bohut chapar-chapar karti ho", mumbling the words loud enough for her to hear, Samrat pulled her closer to himself, and smashed his lips on her. As expected, Gunjan tried pushing him, and moving away from him, but he had it sorted. But this time, she was caught totally unawares the way Samrat was kissing her. He was extremely gentle, but there was a different feeling this time, that begged Gunjan to kiss him back. When they ran out of oxygen, they separated, but not for too long as Samrat took her again for a deep kiss. He lifted her t-shirt a bit, as his hands played on her bare skin. She felt an electric jolt as soon as his skin touched hers, and unable to understand the desires of her heart, her hands also made way into his shirt. She pressed herself closer to him, not wanting to let go. Samrat felt the soft of her body merge into his hard chest, raising the testosterone level in his body. Samrat felt the desire burning within him, as her ever so lush lips, swollen a bit now, tempted him more and more, asking him to swoon and claim them. As he bent forward to close the distance between them, Gunjan moved her face forward to his side, and rubbed her cheek against his.

"Samrat", she let out his name softly on an impulse, as she ruffled his hair, and it seemed to bind him in that magical tone. It was as if he didn't want anything else in his life, than to hear her speak his name with so much love. Love???

"I love you Gunjan", he whispered softly, but she seemed to have heard it, as he felt her body stiffen.

"Nothing... I just... leave it Gunjan, forget i ever said anything", he said, trying hard to cover up his mistake, as he turned his head to look other sides. She cupped his face in her hands softly, and made him look at her in the eye.

"Fir se bolo"

The tone that she used had him captivated, and the magic of her eyes twisted a knot in him, and like a hypnotized person, he rambled what he'd said, as he held her waist for support.

"I love you Gunjan, i love you so much that i can't tell you how...", he felt his eyes widen up, and his words cut short, as Gunjan pushed her face and smashed her lips on his.

Suddenly Samrat felt something wetten his face, but didn't bother about it. But when he felt more water sticking to his cheeks, he opened his eyes, and noticed that small water droplets flowed from Gunjan's closed eyes. He immediately held her shoulders, and pushed her a little away. Her eyes flew open at the sudden movement, and he asked in a tense voice.

"Gunjan... Gunjan kya hua? Why are you crying?", she sniffed between his questions, "I'm sorry Gunjan, i didn't want to hurt you, trust me, i really didn't. Look, see... please stop crying, can you listen to me, stop crying... I... I'll stay away from you...", he left her free, "Please Gunjan, rona band kardo...

Tum nahi jaante Samrat, agar tumne mere pyaar ko reject kar dia hota, to main jeete jee mar gayi...", this time he cut her midsentence, by gently sealing her mouth with his lips. Before it could turn into a deeper kiss reflecting their love, they heard some voices. Gunjan immediately separated herself from him, and rushed into the bathroom right at a two step distance. Samrat realized the situation, and straightened himself, running a hand through his messed up hair and his face. He rubbed his finger through his lips, and smiled the feel of her lips. Inside the bathroom, Gunjan slammed the door tight and stood right there, the door supporting her back, as she slid down and sat. She felt her heart banging loudly across her ribcage, wanting an escape. She touched her face, caressing herself, feeling Samrat's touch all over it, and settling her fingers on her lips, she recalled the magic of his kiss.

Chapter - 19

(MAYUR)

"Suhu, tu... yahaan... kaise...?", his sentence was left incomplete.

"Haan Bhai, aap late nahi huye ho"

"Par Suhu, tujhe kaise pata, i mean..."

"Areh! Bhai, Principal sir had just dashed into me, or maybe i dashed into him. Considering the fact that he was the one who didn't pay attention, he dashed into me, but on the other hand, i also wasn't paying attention, so i too dashed into him. But then again..."

"Suhaani Sharma, do you mind shutting up and coming right to the point", Mayank spoke, frustrated of her no sense nonsense. She saw his face and immediately pressed her lips tight. He looked at her expectantly, as she looked back with a straight face.

"Oh no! What did i do to deserve this?", Mayank mumbled as he smacked his head.

"Suhaani! Come to the point damnit!", Mayank shouted through his ears, and Suhaani knew she had crossed the limits.

Mayank wondered why was Suhaani carrying this. He knew she hadn't participated in the competition. She couldn't sing to save her life. But then realization struck him. All of a sudden his question was answered. The scene at the stage played back in his mind. Suhaani was the person who'd offered the bowl to Nupur, and if Mayank wasn't wrong, she'd pocketed the slip. One riddle was solved, but the next question was that why did Nupur sing a different song? Had it been some other song, he would've assumed that she was unknown to the lyrics, but he was aware of the fact that she knew this song only too well. It was a song closer to her heart, but still she sung a different song. He knew the reason, and he wasn't liking it, not at all.

Next morning, in college, the Principal called Mayank to inform him that he was to leave immediately for a student's conference being held in Panchgani, as the representative of their college. The conference was one week long, and it was mandatory for him to attend it, as no other person could be found. Sulking, Mayank left making all the preparations within no time.

For Mayank, one week in Panchgani passed like not less than 1 year. He avoided any calls from his friends and family, as he knew they would be filled how life's good again, as Nupur is back to the college. Once when he was talking to Suhaani, she'd told him that Nupur hardly spends any time outside the house. Usually, she liked being in her house with Adhiraj and Suhaani. That was how the three were spending their time. And Suhaani didn't forget to mention that Uday was not as strict as he had seemed to be, as he also hanged with them, and was a fun person. They all had a gala time with Nupur's family, and Suhaani would have never shut up, had Mayank not cut the call. It seemed to Mayank that Nupur's life was getting back on the track, just like he'd wanted it to be. He should've been happy, but thinking about Nupur every moment, and the fact that she was happy with someone else, killed a part of him, with every passing second. Even in the conferences and the lectures, Nupur's smiling face flashed in front of his eyes, and he was unable to do anything to wipe it off. Mayank agreed, and his father gave him the address. As soon as Mayank entered the outskirts of Mumbai, something stir in him. He felt as something was going to happen, he called Suhaani involuntarily, and she told him that she was out to watch a movie. Out of nowhere, he asked if all the others were fine, Sumit, Simran, Anny, Chako, Adhiraj, Nupur, and the others. To this, she replied they were all well, and he would better cut the call, she wanted to watch the movie. Even after knowing that Nupur was safe and sound, Mayank's heart didn't calm down. Somehow, he managed to drive to his destination. His dad had called up to tell him that their client was at home today, and not at the office. So Mayank had driven to their house instead, and when he entered the mansion like house, he was told by the guards to go straight inside.

"… haan Bade Papa, main khol rahi hoon gate, dekhti hoon kaun itna impatient hai…"

Her face turned towards the back, as she shouted the words to someone, Nupur stood in front of him, dressed in a white t-shirt with a sponge bob's face glowing brightly on it, and a pair of tight fitted denim shorts, that reached her knees. She appeared very petite to Mayank, as her hair was tied loosely in a clutch, strands of which bordered her face. As soon as she turned her face, she realized that it was him and her eyes grew wide, hidden by the specs which irritated him, as they obstructed her beautiful eyes from him. She was too numb to react as pressed the book she'd been holding to her chest, while her other hand took support from the handle of the door.

"Nupur…",

"Nupur! Kaun hai gate pe? Sun, Mr Sharma ke yahaan se koi aane wala tha, mujhe kuch papers dene, kahin wo to nahi hai?"

Both Mayank and Nupur's faces turned back, to see a man descend the stairs as he spoke to Nupur.

"Bade Papa! Wo darasal ye…", Nupur tried to speak something, but Mayank cut her in between.

"Mr Shashi Bhushan, main hie aaya hoon, aapko wo papers dene", he moved ahead past Nupur, inside the house as she closed the door silently.

"Oh chalo achha hua. Aao aao, baitho beta", Shashi gestured him to settle down on the sofa, as he himself sat on the opposite seat.

"Main paani lati hoon", Nupur spoke in a soft voice, and tried to leave, when Shashi stopped her.

"Nupur, aap kyun takleef leti hain. Maine kitchen mein kehal wa diya tha, koi na koi aata hie hoga. Aap baith jaeeye, aur apni book continue kijiye. Aapko apni Badi Ma aur Tamanna ke ghar aane se pehle book padhke mujhe aur Uday ko iska end batana hai. We obviously can't lose the bet to them, can we?", Shashi gave a small laugh, which made Nupur smile.

"Bade Papa, aap bohut bure ho! Hamesha mujhse cheating karate ho", Nupur whined as she stiffled the smile that had almost reached her lips.

"Bacche, aap aisa mat kahiye. Aap hie to meri aur Uday ki hope hain, aap hamare saath aisa karengi?", Shashi pouted, and Nupur burst out laughing.

"Rehne dijiye Bade Papa, apni nautanki band kijiye, main aap dono ko book padhke batati hoon", she smiled.

"Yeh hui na baat. Mujhe pata hai, mera kuch bhi ho, tum apne pyaare Uday ko haarte huye nahi dekh sakti na?", Nupur just shook her head at this, and that was when she realized that Mayank was listening to all of it. She suddenly went back to her sober expressions.

"Bade Papa, aap log kaam kijiye, main andar jaake book padhti…"

"Areh nai beta, humein aisa koi kaam nahi hain. Aap apni favorite jagah pe jaake baithiye, main jaanta hoon ki jab tak aap wahaan nahi baithengi, aapko book ka maza nahi aayega"

With this, Nupur gave Mayank another glance, as she got up, and settled on the long resting chair that was placed there, right next to a glass door, which was slightly open. As Nupur settled there, Mayank had a direct view of her, unlike Shashi, whose back faced her. The glass door presented a view to the garden, and through the slight opening, slow breeze came inside, whose presence Mayank realized due to the movement in Nupur's hair. As Shashi called out to someone to get water, Mayank saw Nupur glance at him again and again, as her face was filled with lots of confusion, and nervousness. Then, Shashi engaged him, and Nupur went back to reading her book. Mayank stole glances of her, but he noticed that she was totally into the book, unaware of the happenings around her.

"So young man…", Shashi started.

"Mayank, Mayank Sharma sir", he completed.

"Oh! Mayank Sharma, matlab aap Billy ke bete hain?"

"Aap dad ko jaante hain?", Mayank sounded surprised.

"Beta, aapko yahaan Billy ne hie bheja hain na?", Shashi sounded serious, and Mayank realized his folly.

"Of course sir! Mera matlab tha ki aap dad ko personally jaante hain?", he immediately replied, worried that he'd offended Shashi.

"Hahahaha! Kya beta, itni jaldi serious ho gaye? Aap ki generation bhi na, mazaak nahi samajhti. I was just pulling your leg", Mayank also laughed a little with him.

"Sir aap mujhe yeh 'aap' kehke mat bulaiye. Thoda weird lagta hai", Mayank requested in a small voice.

"To phir aap bhi mujhe sir mat kahiye, thoda old lagta hai. Main to aapka uncle laga na", Shashi smiled at him.

"Ok uncle!", Mayank flashed his dimples.

"Ab aaye na aap line pe...", Shashi was cut in between, as Mayank glared at him, "Areh beta! Aapko humein ignore karna hoga. Actually wo aap udhar dekh rahe hain", he leaned towards Mayank and pointed to Nupur who sat there lost of the reality, he continued in a whisper, "Wo hamare ghar ki Hitler sahiba hain. Bhagwan jaane unki mamma ne unhe kya khake paida kiya tha? Kehne ko to wo mujhe Bade Papa kehti hain, but mujhe itna strictly rakhti hain, ki sabko wo Badi lagti hain, aur useh aap kehte kehte, main baakiyo ko bhi aap hie kehta hoon. So let's just ignore it, ok?", Shashi looked adoringly at Nupur, as his words sunk in Mayank. If Shashi wasn't Nupur's dad, then perhaps he was Uday's dad, and that meant that Nupur lived with them. What happened to her parents? As these questions played in his mind, his thoughts were left midway as he heard the loud commotion around him.

"BHOOO!"

"AAAHHH!"

This was followed by Shashi getting up and turning to laugh as Mayank moved aside to see what had actually happened. He saw Nupur with a shocked expression covering her face that changed as soon as she saw Uday laugh his head off.

Mujhe iska maza to lene de", Uday said in a serious tone, at which Nupur turned to look at him.

"Par hamesha mujhe tang karna zaruri hai kya? Kuch aur nahi kar sakte aap, something else, something creative?", she asked.

"Kuch aur? Matlab abhi ke liye I am forgiven, right?", Nupur turned her face to look around to avoid his gaze, but when she saw his face fall down, she smiled and nodded her head. Uday also smiled at her, and hugged her from the side. Mayank saw them, and felt their love pinch him in his heart. He turned his head, and gulped hard, as he blinked the tears that threatened to fall off his eyes any moment. Suddenly, he felt Shashi touching his shoulder.

"Beta! Uday aapse baat karna chahta hai", Shashi pointed towards the direction, and when Mayank turned his face, he saw Uday still glued to Nupur.

"Main aapse baat kar raha tha, lekin aap to apni hie duniya mein gum they", he spoke.

"I am sorry, maine suna nahi. Aap kuch keh rahe they mujhse?", Mayank managed to push the words out of his mouth. Uday got up, and came to stand near him. Nupur also got up, looking at him nervously.

"Yes! Main keh raha tha ki maine aapko kahi dekha hai. Do we know each other?", Uday repeated his question, looking at him curiously. Mayank saw Nupur panic, as she looked alternately at him and Uday.

"I am Mayank Sharma, actually Nupur aur main college mein saath hain. Aapne mujhe us din St Stefens mein dekha tha, aur wo college fest ke din bhi", he spoke, and Nupur let out the breath she'd caught, as she waited for Uday's answer in anticipation.

"Areh haan! Yaad aa gaya, I remember your face from there. But we didn't talk, right?", Mayank nodded at that. "Hmmm! So tum aur Kiddo ek hie class mein ho?", he looked at Nupur.

"Ji nahi! Main uska senior hoon", he replied as they all settled down again.

"To phir tum Kiddo ko kaise jaante ho?", Uday looked at him suspiciously.

"Ji wo main college ke newspaper ka Editor hoon, aur Nupur meri Assistant Editor hai. Moreover Nupur aur meri behen Suhaani best friends hain", Mayank completed, as he stole a glance to look at Nupur, who was sitting amongst them, with a downcast head.

"Wow! Suhaani tumhari behen hai, matlab wo bhi Billy ki beti hai", Shashi exclaimed, to which Mayank nodded.

"Agar tum Suhaani ke bhai ho, to I am sure tum bhi uske jaise hie hoge? Anyways, Suhaani is a nice girl, Nupur has good friends in the college", Uday pondered to himself.

"Beta! If you don't remember, Adhiraj bhi usi college mein hai, and he's a good friend of Nupur too", Shashi said in a tone, which Mayank didn't understand.

"Us gadhe ka naam mat lijiye mere saamne", Uday suddenly got up as his voice raised, but he sobered down as soon as he saw Shashi and Nupur stifling their laughter, "Kya dad? Aap na meri taang kheenchna band kijiye. Aur Kiddo, tu bhi has le zor zor se, ruk kyun gayi? Mujhe to samajh nahi aata ki tumhe wahi idiot kyun mila dost banane ko, aur wo bewakoof, Benji jaise intelligent aur achhe insaan ka cousin kaise ho sakta hai…", Uday kept on speaking things.

Mayank's eyes widened at the fact that Adhiraj and Benji were cousins.

"Adhiraj Benji ka bhai hai?", Mayank spoke a bit loudly, and took the glass of water placed in front of him.

"Haan, lagte nahi hain na? jaise mere ye do shaitan, koi kahega ye dono bhai behen hain?", Shashi gestured towards the two, who immediately high-fived with each other and smiled at each other. Mayank spluttered the water he was drinking, and the glass fell from his hands, as the others present immediately gathered around him with worried expressions on their faces.

"Mayank, beta aap theek to hain na?", Shashi shook Mayank, who was busy looking at Uday and Nupur.

"Tum dono bhai behen ho?", he asked, aghast.

"Dad, lagta hai ki iseh shock lag gaya hai. Iseh pehle bithana padega, aur main jaake doctor ko call karta hoon", Uday spoke and he moved away to call the doctor.

"Nupur beta, aap Mayank ko guest room mein le jaeeye. Main Billy ko call karke batata hoon", Shashi also went to make his call, as Nupur helped Mayank get up, and led him to the nearest guest room. Mayank had his gaze fixed at the retreating back of Uday, and he seemed to be mumbling something. Even when Nupur made him sit on the bed, his back resting against the bed post, he was lost in his own world. Nupur got worried at his state, and sitting beside him, she shook him.

"Mayank! Mayank! Tum theek to ho na, kya hua tumhe", Mayank regained his senses when he heard her voice. He looked at her, as she was blinking back the tears in her eyes, with worry making her face go pale.

"Main theek hoon Nupur", he spoke, and Nupur saw that he was fine.

"Main Bade Papa ko bata kar aati hoon", she ran, before he could say a word.

Mayank went through the events in his mind, as he recalled Uday's over-protectiveness. As pieces fell in their right places, he smacked his head for being so stupid, and for not seeing the truth right from the beginning. Just then, he heard footsteps, and in the next instant, Shashi came in the room, followed by Uday and Nupur.

"Beta, kaise hain aap?"

"Uncle, main bilkul theek hoon. Doctor ko bhi bulane ki zarurat nahi hai", Mayank smiled a bit to let them know he was fine.

"Par tumhe hua kya tha? Tum kuch mumble bhi kar rahe they?", Uday asked him.

"Wo kuch nahi, bas I guess I got lost momentarily. Wo itna travel karke thak gaya hoon na", Mayank replied.

"Chalo jo bhi tha, I am glad you're fine now. Meri aapke dad se baat ho gayi hai. I've told him ki aap kuch kha peeke aur thoda rest karke hie aayenge. Nupur beta, he's your friend, I think you should look after him. Main inke khaane peene ke liye kuch bhijwata hoon. Aur Uday, aap chalke ek bar wo papers dekh lijiye ji Mayank laaye hain", the two men walked out of the room closing the gate slightly.

"Main tumhare khaane ke liye kuch lati hoon", saying this, Nupur turned to go away, when Mayank moved forward, and holding her wrist, pulled her back. Unaware of his intention, Nupur fell back on the bed, such that she hit his chest. Their faces were right next to each other, and both were lost in the other's eyes. They let their eyes talk to each other, savoring the presence of the other, after such a long separation.

Nupur's eyes flashed all the questions that had been clouding her heart and mind since so many days. Mayank's eyes apologized for his behavior. Nupur shook her head, not accepting his apology, given the ordeal she had to go through, because of him, as she turned her face away from him. But Mayank was in no mood to give up so easily today. Shifting a little, so that she was comfortable, he used his one hand to turn her face, while his other hand snaked around her waist. He saw that to avoid him, she'd closed her eyes.

"Nupur..."

"Please Mayank, jaane do mujhe. Agar Bade Papa ya Bhai aa gaye, to mere liye problem ho jayegi", she said.

"Ek bar meri baat sun lo, please", he pleaded.

"Kyun? Aaj apni girl-friend Mallika paas nai gaye? Aaj wo bore kar rahi hogi na, ya phir kahi usne tumhe to nahi bhaga dia?", she asked, sarcasm dripping in her voice.

"Mallika meri girl-friend nahi hai... aur ye tum bhi jaanti ho..."

Nupur's eyes flew open at this, while at what she spoke next, Mayank was flown away.

"Yaar Nupur, tum sachi bohut chapar-chapar karti ho", mumbling the words loud enough for her to hear, Mayank pulled her closer to himself, and smashed his lips on her. As expected, Nupur tried pushing him, and moving away from him, but he had it sorted. But this time, she was caught totally unawares the way Mayank was kissing her. He was extremely gentle, but there was a different feeling this time, that begged Nupur to kiss him back. When they ran out of oxygen, they separated, but not for too long as Mayank took her again for a deep kiss. He lifted her t-shirt a bit, as his hands played on her bare skin. She felt an electric jolt as soon as his skin touched hers, and unable to understand the desires of her heart, her hands also made way into his shirt. She pressed herself closer to him, not wanting to let go. Mayank felt the soft of her body merge into his hard chest, raising the testosterone level in his body. Mayank felt the desire burning within him, as her ever so lush lips, swollen a bit now, tempted him more and more, asking him to swoon and claim them. As he bent forward to close the distance between them, Nupur moved her face forward to his side, and rubbed her cheek against his.

"Mayank", she let out his name softly on an impulse, as she ruffled his hair, and it seemed to bind him in that magical tone. It was as if he didn't want anything else in his life, than to hear her speak his name with so much love. Love???

"I love you Nupur", he whispered softly, but she seemed to have heard it, as he felt her body stiffen.

"Nothing... I just... leave it Nupur, forget i ever said anything", he said, trying hard to cover up his mistake, as he turned his head to look other sides. She cupped his face in her hands softly, and made him look at her in the eye.

"Fir se bolo"

The tone that she used had him captivated, and the magic of her eyes twisted a knot in him, and like a hypnotized person, he rambled what he'd said, as he held her waist for support.

"I love you Nupur, i love you so much that i can't tell you how...", he felt his eyes widen up, and his words cut short, as Nupur pushed her face and smashed her lips on his.

Suddenly Mayank felt something wetten his face, but didn't bother about it. But when he felt more water sticking to his cheeks, he opened his eyes, and noticed that small water droplets flowed from Nupur's closed eyes. He immediately held her shoulders, and pushed her a little away. Her eyes flew open at the sudden movement, and he asked in a tense voice.

"Nupur... Nupur kya hua? Why are you crying?", she sniffed between his questions, "I'm sorry Nupur, i didn't want to hurt you, trust me, i really didn't. Look, see... please stop crying, can you listen to me, stop crying... I... I'll stay away from you...", he left her free, "Please Nupur, rona band kardo...

Tum nahi jaante Mayank, agar tumne mere pyaar ko reject kar dia hota, to main jeete jee mar gayi...", this time he cut her midsentence, by gently sealing her mouth with his lips. Before it could turn into a deeper kiss reflecting their love, they heard some voices. Nupur immediately separated herself from him, and rushed into the bathroom right at a two step distance. Mayank realized the situation, and straightened himself, running a hand through his messed up hair and his face. He rubbed his finger through his lips, and smiled the feel of her lips. Inside the bathroom, Nupur slammed the door tight and stood right there, the door supporting her back, as she slid down and sat. She felt her heart banging loudly across her ribcage, wanting an escape. She touched her face, caressing herself, feeling Mayank's touch all over it, and settling her fingers on her lips, she recalled the magic of his kiss.
