Chapter 2:
Khushi paced the room, she was tensed, she had to do it, it was now or never, she had to run away, she was tired of this prison life, she hadnt been able to do anything since she had married that blasted Raizada, she had been stuck in ever since, the only way she could be out was to go to college but that too with 10 guards following her around, she doubted if not for privacy they would follow her till the washroom as well.
After much thinking, Khushi decided, she would do it, she would run away tonight, away from her insane family, away from her ass of a husband who still hadnt come to pick her up, she had waited 5 freaking years but he hadnt turned up, he had taken her money and run away, but Khushi did not give a damn, she had a few of her savings and taking that she would run away from here.
Arnav couldnt get his bride out of his mind, the image of her walking so gracefully with Karan's sister was seared in his mind,
He could not concentrate on anything not even his work, that thought of Khushi being his wife, was too much to handle, his heart had skipped a beat at the sight of her, but he knew it was just lust, yes, he was just lusting after his own wife.
She was a beautiful lady, and it was an automatic response from his side, just because she had been lucky and had turned out pretty did not mean she possessed a strong character, she was just like the other Gupta's filled with greed and only caring about outer appreances like all other women of her class.
The clock struck 12, Khushi had left a note for her mother, telling her not to worry and that she'd be safe, she knew her mother would be heart-broken, she was her only child, but she could not be used as a pawn in her father's game to take over her husband's property just so he could satisfy his greed.
Disgusted at her own father, she wiped the lone tear that had slipped from her eye,
She looked at her room one last time, a hole replacing the once lively and beating heart of Khushi Gupta,
Shaking herself out of emotional turmoil, she took her luggage and threw it out of the windown, she was surprised, after having guards all around her, even outside her bedroom door, their was no guard below her window, and no lock on her window too, shocking but it was lucky for her,
She climbed out on the ledge.
The branch she wanted to grasp was just two feet away but a good three to four feet below her. Khushi said a quick prayer to Devi Maiyya, having faith, she'd make it as she wiggled closer to the edge. She sat there a long while, her heart thumping in her chest,
"Khushi, lets just quit this plan and stay inside the house, in your safe and warm bed, maybe one day the thick-headed Raizada will come and get you, lets not risk breaking your leg" she muttered to herself, but then she chided herself,
"Khushi, are you crazy?, You are Khushi Gupta and you're not afraid of anything, you can do it, you have to live by your rules, and you will wait for no Raizada to come and get you, and even if that ass of a husband ever shows up, I will never go with him, after him neglecting me for 5 years, I and go with him, NEVER, Raizada has a lot to pay for, and revenge is truly sweet", she sat there until she could summon up enough courage to jump. Then, with a whimper of fear she couldn't contain, she pushed herself off the ledge.
Arnav couldn't believe what he was seeing. He was just about to climb up the ladder when the window opened and various articles belonging to a woman came flying down. He dodged the items and moved deeper into the shadows. The moon gave him sufficient light to see Khushi when she climbed out on the ledge. He was about to shout a warning, certain she was going to break her neck, when she suddenly jumped. He raced forward to catch her.
But to his surprise, she clung to the tree branch which over-looked her window, he saw her eyes closed in fear, and he noticed her lips moving, most certain she was mumbling a prayer, his curiousity getting the better of him, she stepped backward, still close enough to help her if she needed it, but far enough so she couldnt spot him,
A grin clang to his lips, as he watched his bride stuggle to maintain her grip on the branch, and when Arnav thought he couldnt take enough, she jumped, literally jumped, and shockingly landed on her feet, amazed, Arnav had to admit, his bride had surprised him twice in a day, a huge achievement for a person he had barely spoken to,
As soon as Khushi had landed on her feet, she picked up her belongings and ran into a sprint, trying to put as much as distance between her and the house as possible,
Arnav followed behind. He wanted to appease his curiosity before he grabbed her, tossed her over his shoulder, and headed for the house. In the back of his mind was the irritating thought that she might be trying to run away from him again. He discarded that notion as foolish, for she couldn't possibly know about his plans to kidnap her.
Khushi ran until she was sure no one would catch her, then she stated taking long strides, she had to reach the train station before the station left,
A good 10 minutes later, Khushi reached the train station, after purchasing her ticket with her savings, she realized with a grin she was 10 minutes early, so deciding to use the time to check her surroundings, so with a florish she headed towards the small little station shop.
Arnav watched amused as he saw the child-like wonderment in his bride's eyes as if she were seeing a train for the first time, he was a lost case as he stared at his beautiful bride, who he was soon realizing wasnt as dum as he had presumed,
Arnav followed her around for about 5 minutes, and it soon became evident to him that she was still blissfully oblivious to his presence. Arnav couldn't believe her naivete. If she'd only bothered to look behind her, she certainly would have seen him.
Khushi walked around the station, too dazed at her new-found freedom, to notice anyone else,
Arnav soon became tired of following her about as he saw her inspect everything like a toddler would do so, so deciding it was about time to make his grand entry,
Taking her hand, he pulled her around, so now they stood facing each other, and the moment, those green eyes, locked with his, he felt he was falling into the depths of some unknown ocean,
Khushi's breath hitched in her troat, as she saw the handsome face before her eyes, somewhere a faint recognization stirred in her, his face seemed most familiar, but she brushed those thoughts aside, how would she know such a handsome stranger,He was a man'yes, a man'but, the most dangerous-looking, the most' oh, God, he was staring at her with such mesmerizing honey-coloured eyes and his hair it was a dark bronze in color, as bronzed as his face and arms.
His mouth hovered close to her ear as he whispered in the most deep yet most arrogant voice she had ever heard,
"Nice to finally meet you, wife."
As his words finally registered in her mind, Arnav saw her mouth gaping open, her eyes widening and he couldnt help but notice how adorable she looked,
Wife, that word pounded against her brain, so that's why he looked so familiar,
Oh gosh, she had truly forgotten how handsome he was, 5 years had just added to his perfect stance,
But that meant he was the Raizada, Oh Lord, he had found her when she had thought she was free and did not need him, he had come, and then what happened next was impossible for Arnav to comprehend, one moment he saw an array of emotions on her face and the next his wife swooned in his arms, well whatever reaction he had been expecting from his wife, after she found out he had finally got her, it most certainly had not been this.
Ah, I couldn't help myself, was sick of studying so I wrote the 2nd chapter, and hope you guys like it:)
