"Payal, are you ready? Arnav will be here any moment to pick you up for the pag phera."

Payal came out of the bathroom dressed in a light green sari. She had recently had a haircut and the layered steps were making her look even prettier. She filled her parting with sindoor and was about to wear the gold necklace which belonged to her mother when she felt a pair of hands grasp hers. She looked into the mirror and saw the warm, sincere eyes of her husband staring back at her. He slowly fastened the clasp of the necklace and placed his hands on her shoulder.

"You look beautiful today."

Payal smiled shyly and averted her gaze from him.

"Don't I always?"

Akash smiled at the hint of mischief in her voice and was about to lean in when a loud honk interrupted them.

Arnav took of his sunglasses and checked his watch. He had arrived fifteen minutes early and though he claimed it was because old habits die hard, the real reason was something else. Correction, someone else. He waited for her to step out of the house but no one came. After waiting for a good ten minutes he honked the horn in frustration.

He was just about to turn around and open the door to the driver's seat when a blur of red whooshed before him and launched itself on him. He was a bit startled but the intoxicating smell of lavender and the tinkling of payals made his heart leap in his chest. He put his arms around the blur of red and hugged it tightly.

Said blur was clinging onto him, standing on her tiptoes so that she could reach his shoulders properly. This was really the best place on earth. Safe and sound in the comfort of his arms.

She pulled back a little and looked into his eyes. Even one month after the confession she still hadn't gotten used to the smoldering look that he reserved especially for her. His already beautiful chocolate brown eyes developed interesting shades and hues whenever she was around him and it both frightened and pleased her to see the effect she had on him.

He saw the bright sparkle in her eyes as she gazed lovingly at him. Her cheeks flushing a delightful pink and her lips quivering slightly. He gulped at the sight before him and was about to lean down when some of the neighborhood children snuck up on them and started chanting.

"Khushi and Arnav sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"

Khushi immediately jerked away from him, completely red and looking highly embarrassed. Arnav was visibly irritated and was about to give the kids a piece of his mind hen Akash and Payal walked out of the house, ready to travel to Shantivan.

Arnav grudgingly got into the car, throwing Khushi occasional intense gazes and causing her to blush prettily.

Anjali completed the pag phere ritual and sat down with the rest of the family.

"Did you hear the good news? NK and Lavanya are getting engaged next week! I'm so happy for them!"

Payal and Akash smiled brightly on hearing the news , genuinely pleased for the new couple.

"They've invited all of us. In fact, I was just going to tell Chote but he doesn't seem to be around anywhere."

"I'm sure he's around here somewhere. By the way Bhabhi, where is Khushi?"

Anjali shrugged her shoulders but her lips broke into a mischievous smile. She had a faint idea about where those two were.

A couple of floors above, two people sat in the branches of a tree, lost in each others eyes and generally unaware of the rest of the world.

"What were those kids singing again?"

Khushi flushed a deep red and started stuttering. Arnav smirked and leaned in closer to her ear.

"I think we should listen to the words of the song carefully."

He moved his head closer to hers and claimed her lips with his. Khushi's hands went up and clutched the hair at the base of his neck, responding fully to his kiss. Arnav's hands entangled themselves in her silky tresses as he plundered her lips. They had kissed numerous times in the past month and Arnav marveled at the fact that Khushi had steadily become a very active participant in the lip locks. She had initially been a little hesitant but her kisses had gradually gained confidence. Arnav pulled back and looked into her glazed eyes.

"Not bad Ms. Khushi Kumari Gupta."

"I learn from the best you see, Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada."

With that they leaned forward and began kissing again, ignoring the faint calls from downstairs.
