Sorry couldn't proof-read it!!! I have deicated this part to Angel Teen and GoGreen who have always been an avid reader of my work. 🤗

For you Imran!

Part-2

Arnav came down swiftly rotating a pair of keys in one hand, whistling softly. His eyes softened looking at two people who meant the world to him after his family. His steps quickened as a graceful lady stood up with tears in her eyes.

Arnav shook his head and increased his pace. Engulfing the woman in his arms, he muttered only for her ears, " Hey sexy!"

Garima choked on her tears, this was her second son''the mischievous one, the prankster. She sighed keeping her head on his chest while Arnav engulfed the aroma of the shampoo he has always associated with her. She was his second mother, the only mother he remembers.

Garima laughed with her eyes mist and pulled away. She framed his face in her knotted hand and pulled his face down to kiss his forehead.

"Your uncle is right there, badmaash! Ab yaad aayi, saat saal baad!" she asked with a mock frown.

Arnav wrapped his arm on her shoulder and whispered, "Sweetheart there wasn't a single day when I didn't remember your pretty face but then realised in this birth you can't be mine so decided to maintain my distance." He made a dramatic face.

Garima shook her head hopelessly while he grinned shamelessly not noticing a pair of eyes frowning in disapproval.

He then stepped aside as Shashi Gupta stood up and before he could bend down to touch his uncle's feet, was pulled into a manly yet warm hug. He had missed this, he realised. Shashi was a man of few words and Arnav always sought guidance from him. From a tender age he has respected this man who was wonderfully kind and exceptionally intellectual.

"Jeete raho." He was awarded with this simple phrase.

His eyes immediately brightened seeing Shyam and lunged forward towards him. They both enthusiastically hugged each other and patted each other's back with profuse zeal and loud, intentional pats. They were still hugging when Arnav's eye caught her standing behind Shyam fiddling with her dupatta. He left Shyam and went towards her asking in a fake confused tone, "and you?"

Garime replied, "Arnav, don't you remember Khushi? You saw her photographs sent by her bua when she was small, don't you remember?"

Arnav's eyes gleamed as memories surrounded him. Ofcourse he remembered her but accepting it would spoil the fun. Seeing Khushi disapproved gaze directed at him, he muttered to add fuel to the fire, "I don't remember, and how would I remember any other girl when my thoughts were occupied by you."

Khushi took that statement very non-sportingly and if possible narrowed her eyes more. She hardly liked how advance he was with her mother and to top it all her father laughed at his advances while his mother blushed. What was wrong with the world! He was flirting with his mother for heaven's sake and she was fussing over him as if this was the last time she'll ever see him. Typical NRI, she thought with distaste.

She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't realise he came to stand in front of her. He removed the spaces between them as he took steps closer to her and was about to hug her when she placed her hand towards him. He analysed her gesture and smiling faintly covered her delicate hands with his manly ones.

That one innocent action sent shivers down her spine. She felt tremors all over her body and could feel a funny feeling taking over her. His hands squeezed her and nervously she pulled back. Surprisingly he didn't tease her anymore.

They all took their seats respectively with Arnav sitting beside the mature members while Khushi sitting with her brother and Anjali on the opposite couch. Khushi saw him in deep conversation with her parents and how at ease he was with everyone. She remembered one of her friend telling how a NRI had ditched her friend and judging by his behaviour her female instincts screamed that he was a 'Casanova', then why did her heart race?

She then felt a sensation and without looking at him knew that his eyes were on her. Her neck straightened and her insides quivered. She had boys in her college and regularly exchanged pleasantries but they have never made her feel feminine. Her breath hitched and lips trembled as she lifted her eyes to look into the pair of almond ones. To her his eyes looked drugged and for the first time she realised why people say eyes speak a lot. He was communicating with his eyes! She saw his gaze tracing a path down her lips and her lips trembled. Moving his gaze downward he settled his gaze on her mounds when she gasped! The audacity of that man to uncover her with his eyes. His eyes turned duskier and she turned pink realising how blatantly he was staring at her female assets. Aroused and angry at him for creating alien feelings inside her, she turned to her right so that he could just see her back and nothing else.

Arnav smirked homecoming was definitely interesting, he thought. He was never interested into typical Indian girls, he always thought they were too clingy and inhibited for their own good but this girl interested him. Not only was she beautiful and sexy but judging from the fire in her eyes he could bet she was feisty as well. He wondered if whole Lucknow is jam-packed with beauties like her.

He looked towards Anjali and realised since he came she hadn't exchange even a single word with him. Then it struck him! She was angry with him. God! He scratched his chin foolishly. Getting up from beside his father he went to sit next to her.

He side-hugged her when she pushed his arm away angrily causing everyone to look at them. Arnav gave everyone a helpless and innocent smile and then counting mentally to three, he started tickling his sister. Everyone smiled at his tactics except one. Anjali was soon in splits and hugged her brother.

A lone tear made way down her cheek when Arnav wiped it away with his thumb and pressing his lips to her forehead muttered lovingly, "My baby!"

Everyone knew how protective and caring Arnav was about Anjali after their mother's death. Anjali was one person who held his heart more than anyone and he didn't mind making it known.

Suddenly Anjali couldn't control herself and whispered, "You know about Shyam and me, right?"

He shifted uncomfortably as he pulled apart. He nodded unwantedly knowing somewhere his baby sister loving Shyam was bothering him. He knew Shyam loved his sister as well but accepting his sister was all grown up now was bothering him. He looked at her face watching him expectantly and nodded. Anjali let out a sigh and gave her brother a big smile.

Khushi watched his changing eyes and emotions while everyone again resumed their earlier talks...he was different with everyone, different with maa, different with sukriti and most importantly different with her. Oh what a complicated man! She shook her head.

Anjali announced suddenly, "Uncle-aunty aaj ka khana aapka yahin par hai, mana mat kijiyega bahut samay se humne sath nahi khaya hai aur phir Arnav bhaiya bhi aa gaye hai" (Uncle-aunty you are having lunch with us today, don't deny it has been ages since we all had lunch together and now Anav bhaiya is also here. )

Garime smiled at Anjali and nodded in approval she loved Anjali and would love to have her as her daughter-in-law, her experienced eyes saw the sparks between Anjali and her son while Shyam smiled proudly this was what his Anjali was all about...it was her simplicity and considerate demeanour that attracted him to her in the first place...Anjali was walking towards the kitchen when Khushi said, " I'll also come to help you!"

They both exited the living room while chatting.

Arnav gauzed the opportunity and on the pretext of needing to have water for his parched throat he sauntered towards the kitchen. He saw both the girls chatting happily and shaking his head muttered, "Girls!"

Suddenly his mind processed and he came up with an idea. He coughed to get their attention and as soon as they turned he asked looking directly at Anjali, "I think it's time to feed Romeo."

Anjali was about to deny when Arnav said, "You know I won't feed him and if you won't feed him as well, he'll starve and die and then what would we say to Indira aunty that we killed her dog. What a tragedy to come from Pune and find your dog dead and we all know how she loves her dog. You don't want to be a bad neighbour now, do you?"

Anjali with a huff went to feed Romeo after pushing him aside and muttered to herself all the way to his room, "Aate hi kaam kehne lage!"

Arnav laughed and then looked at Khushi who was trying to ignore his presence in the kitchen. She was bending to ignite the gas flame and Arnav noticed her swaying hips and locks caressing her pink cheeks. He had this sudden urge to cup the cheeks of her hips and knead them. Groaning at the image he looked at her pushing nervously her locks away. Why it is not working, she muttered. She again nervously pushed her fingers on the lighter when Arnav very casually and with lazy steps moved towards her. He stood behind her and could smell her fragrance reaching out to him. Moving closer so that her back could hit his front, his hands travelled down her arms to her hands. She shivered and froze while his smile turned cocky. So Miss Gupta was not as immune as she showed! His hands engulfed hers and the lighter fell down her nervous finger-tips. He took her hand and moved in a direction she didn't think of...holding her hand he turned the regulator knob on and then moved back...embarrassment locked her tongue and as silently he came he again went back...

Khushi touched her heart, she was new to this pallier advances...he sure have some audacity...how dare he take liberties with her. She fumed and cursed him! The nerve of that devil!

Hey! Thank You so much for the dedication! That was unexpected. :)

But I love your work, man! Its always different with emotions flowing through beautifully! :)

Coming to the update - I like! :D

Arnav, as Khushi noticed, is different with everyone and is not the usual bigrail ladka which Khushi believes right now...he is quite endearing actually!

And this para - "That one innocent action sent shivers down her spine. She felt tremors all over her body and could feel a funny feeling taking over her. His hands squeezed her and nervously she pulled back. Surprisingly he didn't tease her anymore."

Gee...I wonder why? ;) :D

I love how they both are not immune to each other and the family dynamics too! Great job! Update soon! :)

One suggestion - Could you please make an index of your work?

Just caught up with this story. And I love the title.

This FF has shades of the characters from the show yet promises to be different

Shyam as Khushi's brother..I'm happy..he cannot be the cause of any misunderstandings here--or can he?

But then any couple as different as these don't need external villains do they :)

Nice read!
