Chapter 16

She sat on the stool placed near the bed his sleeping form lay. She placed her hand on her mouth to stop herself from sobbing loudly and a few tears ran down her cheeks. She looked at him he seemed so frail like he would break any second. It killed her a thousand times in a single second to see him in such a state. She placed her hand on his forehead and gently drew circles with her fingertips. She didn't even want to blink her eyes; she just wanted to stare at him and never look away. Even though he looked like a wrecked sculpture which was once a masterpiece of its creator, he was still a masterpiece. She ran her hand in his hair and wished silently for him to be healthy as soon as possible and run on his own legs once again. Her finger slowly smoothed the tangled curls in his hair and she couldn't help but feel little sensations in the pit of her stomach as his silky hair brushed against her skin and even tickled a little. Not able to take any more she bent down and pressed her lips against his forehead and let them linger there for a few moments but then she knew she had to retreat and she did. Then she heard footsteps near the room swayam was in and she immediately went and hide behind the door not wanting anyone to know that she still cared. Soon rey and kriya entered and stood beside his bed and she looked at his sleeping form one last time before making her way out of the hospital room quietly.

Swayam opened his eyes and sighed. It was just noon and he had been hoping that he slept through better part of the day but it had been just half an hour. It had been a week since he had been in his bed and rey and kriya had not allowed him to even step outside his room from which all the pointed things had been removed. Adi had been so worried about him that he refused to leave his sight and he was still sleeping beside him hugging his pink colored hippo. Swayam smiled as he looked at the boy and gently pecked him on his cheeks which made him turn his back towards swayam who leaned back against the bed frame. He knew she came to see him, he just knew he could sense her presence and even though he didn't saw her but in his heart he knew she came to see him the day he felt someone run his hands through his hair and sudden warmth on his forehead. He just knew that it was Sharon who came that day and next day he was allowed to go home. He knew that she would come but would never want anyone to know that she still cared about him. He just wished he could have woken up right then said something, anything to her. After that day in the hotel room he had been dying to hear her voice again. He suddenly sat up in haste thinking of sneaking out of the house but a sharp pang of pain in his stomach up to his back and lower body made him groan and lay down again.

Rey had acted quickly that day and swayam was lucky that he pulled the glass piece out of his body before he could push it deep enough to injure his vital organs but still he had lost a lot of blood. The doctors have clearly pointed out that he was lucky to have been brought at the hospital on right time and not to mention he had to hear it from kriya and rey and calm down very worried and freaked out Aditya. After coming back to his senses he had promised to never try something so stupid again but it was hard to convince his dear friends and now he was on bed rest not even allowed to go and get himself a glass of water and kriya and rey babysit him at intervals. They specially left Adi with him knowing he would keep him company and swayam would never try to do anything to himself in front of him while kriya and Sharon had been working on the project alone which means that the pace of progress of the project had slowed down a lot which worried Sharon who tried to complete it as soon as she could but it was obvious that they had to extend it one more month meaning that the project will end in two months while Sharon had only two weeks left.

Swayam was lost in his thoughts when Rey entered the room with a tray in his hands it was time for swayam's medicines. Swayam made a face as he looked at the medicines and rey chuckled. He set the tray on the side table while swayam slowly moved into sitting position. Then as he took his medicines Rey said "someone came to meet you" swayam replied not in a mood to meet anyone replied "tell them I am asleep" rey "I don't think he is here to ask how u are feeling…I have never even seen him before" swayam asked curious "why? What did he say?" rey "nothing. He said he would talk to you only and has some kind information you needed" swayam suddenly realized who was at his door and got up ignoring the pain once again running through his body and told rey to leave him alone with the stranger. He is someone very important.

Sharon came home and sat on the sofa looking so pale as if she was sick. Her dadi brought a glass of water for her and sat beside her asking her how her day went but when she didn't reply her dadi became worried and asked "are u alright beta? Did anything happen today?" Sharon slowly turned her head towards her dadi and looked at her with moist eyes and nodded. Her dadi placed a hand on her knee and asked "what happened?" Sharon closed her eyes and fresh set of tears ran down her face. then she took a deep breath and wiped away her tear before mustering up all the courage she could and her lower lip trembled while she told her dadi "today kriya told us that due to circumstances first she had to go to Dubai and now swayam is unable to work for some time which really affected the pace of our project due to which they have asked for one more month time period from the sponsors and they have agreed so it is going to take two more months to complete it, there is no way it can be finished in two weeks" her dadi kept looking at her with worried eyes knowing fully well what that meant and then pulled Sharon in her embrace while both of them cried silently.

Suddenly the doorbell rang and her dadi asked Sharon if anyone was supposed to come today? Sharon nodded in disapproval and then it struck both of them who could come at this hour of night. It could only be him. Her dadi looked at Sharon and was once again about to make her go out through the back door but Sharon spoke up before she could "I am not going anywhere dadi…it's no use anymore!" her dadi replied "but beta?" Sharon replied frustrated and tired "but what dadi? We both know there is no other option left now…I think it's time to meet him" her dadi sighed and before she could protest Sharon went and opened the door.

Their eyes met and she felt herself regretting coming in front of him. He stepped inside and took a step towards her saying "missed me sweetheart?" Sharon took a step backwards and replied "you wish Rohan" he smirked at her and looked at her from top to toe while she felt disgusted at the way he looked at her. She wished she was wearing her jeans today and not her knee length dress. Rohan took another step towards her and she took another step backwards which amused him and he said "why are u stepping away from me dear? U know u have to come back to me? And what will u do after two weeks?" with this he grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards himself and made her bump in his chest saying "better get used to the intimacy now" Sharon struggled to get her hand free yelling "let go of me" her dadi also came and asked him to leave her alone but he refused to do so and he told her dadi to go and mind her own business. Sharon could feel something hard in his inside coat pocket and was scared. She knew how low he could stoop and asked her dadi to go inside and leave them alone. She didn't want to go but upon sharon's insisting she left them alone.

Sharon once again tried to wiggle her wrist free but he just pulled her close and locked his other arm around her waist and pressed his body hard against her. She felt bugs crawling underneath her skin and wanted to scream out loud and cry but she didn't and kept on trying to push him back. He locked both of her hands behind her back and held them in place with one of his hands while he traced the thumb of his other hand on her lips and smudged her lip gloss then said while smirking "just two more weeks and then you'll be mine" Sharon felt the bug crawling underneath her skin slowly eating her from inside and said not able to take it anymore "get away from me u jerk I will never be your's….U get that I hate you" then she felt a stinging slap across her face and fell down on the floor while he barked at her "u know I don't like it when u talk to me like this…..then why do u behave like that….u will never be able to get such a huge amount of money in just two weeks" Sharon knew he was right and felt so helpless at that moment and curled her hands into fists. In that one moment she closed her eyes and prayed with all the faith that was left in her heart and asked from God to help her in any way he could.

The doorbell once again rang and Sharon and rohan both looked at the door confused. He asked her if someone was supposed to come to which she replied no and when no one opened the door for a minute the person outside tried the door and luckily it was unlocked no one locked it after Rohan came. The door slowly opened and swayam stepped inside looking like an angry predator ready to pounce on his prey. Rohan and Sharon both became confused upon seeing him but soon rohan was amused and Sharon was scared. Rohan tried to kill swayam once he could do it again. Swayam closed the door behind him and hissed at rohan with control anger in his voice "Step away from my girl" Rohan smiled at him and replied "u once managed to snatch her from me but not this time Swayam …this time she herself will come towards me and leave u" swayam glared at him when he took a step towards Sharon and easily crossed the distance between him and her in two long strides. Once by her side he slapped away Rohan's hand who was aiming to grab her by her shoulders and then swayam helped her in standing up awhile she looked at him confused.

Swayam went outside wincing in pain and looked at the detective he had hired to investigate Sharon's life and the reason why those people were behind her. He had been worried about her and hired a detective after the day she broke into his house. The detective told him everything that happened with Sharon pretty much all the stuff she herself told him but then he mentioned about those goons and that there was someone named Rohan Malhotra who sent them and that he has a secret, some unknown relation with Sharon and he came to her house the night she broke into his house. The detective has not yet figured out what does rohan want but swayam was curious and he remembered the name after a while when the detective left. Rohan Malhotra was the person who had sent a proposal of marriage at Sharon's house and her mother wanted Sharon to marry him instead of Swayam. He remembered Sharon telling him about Rohan but then Swayam also brought his proposal to her house and then everything was going fine. He never heard of him again.

He drove to Sharon's house to ask her dadi about Rohan and he knew that at this time Sharon would be at office. He rang the doorbell and her dadi was shocked to find him at their house. At first she refused to listen to him but he begged her so she allowed him to come inside. Once inside the house swayam asked her about Rohan and her dadi was shocked as to how does he know about him? Sharon has told her dadi everything, why swayam left her and how he saved kriya's life. Her dadi loved swayam since the start and swayan soon used his charm to win over her dadi again and assured her that he loved Sharon and would do anything to help her and make her happy again. Then he once again asked her about rohan, her dadi looked at him and said as her eyes grew moist "when Sharon's dad died then our business was falling apart and inorder to save it Sharon's mother need some loan. She trusted Rohan badly and still believed he would have been the right choice for Sharon. At that time Rohan offered her his help. He agreed to give her loan but in the contract there was one clause added." Her dadi came to a stop and swayam encouraged her to go on "what clause?" she took a deep breath and said "he said if she would not be able to return the money in time then Sharon would have to marry him" swayam asked shocked "what? Who puts such clauses in business and more over why did her mother agreed?" dadi sighed and said "Sharon's mother was a very confident person. She believed that she would be able to give back the money in no time so she practically sold her own daughter. Sharon had no idea about it and neither did I but then three years passed and her mother was very ill. She called us back and then told us everything about the contract which was about to end in one month. But Rohan talked to Sharon and agreed to give her some more time. He was very confident and gave her three more years. He might have given her three years but there are many times when he tried to be physical with her and misbehaved with her. She tried to pay him back the money but it was a huge amount and she couldn't make it…this project was her last hope and even now it is fading" swayam asked her bewildered "what if she doesn't marry him?" her dadi looked at him and replied "then she would have to go to jail and everything not that there is anything left except this house would be bankrupted"

Swayam's hold on Sharon tightened when he saw fear in her eyes and roared at Rohan while reaching for his back pocket "don't never lay your filthy hands on her" Rohan who had had enough angrily moved towards them saying "Enough of this drama!" but he was stopped midway when swayam threw a piece of paper at his face and he picked it up bewildered and looked at it shocked. It was a cheque of exactly the same amount Sharon needed to give him back. Rohan crumpled the paper in his hands and yelled while reaching for his inside coat pocket "how dare u mess with my plan again!...My master plan and yet u ruin it again" he drew out a gun and pointed it at swayam while laughing like a lunatic "you once snatched her away from me but not this time….she is mine and she will herself come back to me….I made a perfect plan and waited for six years for it be over then Sharon would herself come back into me and ask forgiveness for walking out of my life in the first place…but u…I won't let you come between us again" sharon's eyes widened in horror upon seeing the gun pointed right at swayam's chest and she tried stepping in front of swayam but instead he stepped forward and hid her behind him never letting go of the wrist of her hand and replied back "you are a lunatic" Rohan unlocked the gun and said "any last wish?…I tried to kill u once and I won't hesitate again" but before he could pull the trigger a small number of people entered the house and some of them snatched the gun from his hand while the rest of them held him in place. Rohan guessed by looking at their uniforms that they were policemen and just then one of them said "You r are being taken into custody for attempt to murder that too twice" Rohan couldn't believe what he just heard and stared blankly at the police officer and after a few moments of utter silence he freed himself from the grip of two other men holding him and ran towards swayam. He punched swayam in his stomach who fell on the floor groaning in pain holding onto his stomach while the police once again grabbed rohan and dragged him out of the house and on their way out sharon's dadi stopped them for a second and stuffed the cheque in Rohan's front coat pocket and then said after slapping him hard across his face "don't ever step near my daughter again" and then they dragged him out of the house.

Sharon was by swayam's side in a second who had curled his body in the form of a ball. It took him a few minutes but he slowly stood up and Sharon helped him sit on the sofa. He closed his lips in a tight line in order to bare the pain and tried hard to maintain a calm composure but the pain was killing him. his one hand remained around his wound which seemed to be bleeding again while Sharon who was hell mad at him for risking his life like that yelled at this face "what the hell do u think of yourself?..who told u about Rohan?" her dadi came from behind and offered swayam a glass of water while replying "I did..he came earlier this morning and I told him everything" Sharon snapped at her dadi and then turned back towards swayam "You are NOT my knight in shining armor….if it would not have been because of you then he would never have been in life anyways" pain crossed across his features which had nothing to do with the bleeding wound while he mustered up all his strength and replied "u need help sha…" Sharon replied becoming angrier by every passing second. She had for a second thought that she would lose him and that scared her to death. She had lost everything she could not just loose him, just the thought was so troubling. Her concern for him was coming out in the form of her anger and she could do nothing about it "I do not need your help Swayam I think I made it pretty clear…and I am not going to take your money…do u get that!" swayam replied looking at her straight in the eye "Fine then marry me!" her heart skipped a beat as she asked him "what?" while he replied amused at her expressions "marry me Sharon…u don't want to take my money fine!...according to my father's will the girl who marry me will get one third of my property…same was the case with my father…..it is kind of a family tradition or whatever…but the point is u will get the money and then in two months' time the project will be completed that way you can pay me back and then it will be your will to live with me or go on your own way..u know I won't force you to stay with me"

She stood in front of him dumb struck. She wanted to laugh at herself, the only thing she has ever wanted is to be with him and now she finally has a chance to get that. She didn't know to be happy or sad. She didn't know how to respond and kept looking at him not believing what she just heard just then her dadi grabbed her by her shoulders and took her aside. She made her sit down and said "Sharon I know u r mad at me for telling him but please understand my situation. I haven't told you but I have been pretty sick lately" and just then she started coughing. Sharon couldn't believe her ears and asked her dadi hurt "why?" her dadi replied "because I didn't want you to worry about my health and plus the expense on my medicines would have been too much" Sharon replied shocked and bewildered "what? It does not matter! Ur health is the top priority" her dadi replied "Sharon the doctors told me to take as less stress as possible and to stay as happy as I can…my happiness lies in you my child….marry him if not for my for anything else then for my sake…" and then she broke down in front of her. Sharon didn't know what to do she knew that it was the only option left and she wanted it as much as she wanted to run away from it. Then suddenly her dadi started choking and soon she passed out. Sharon's heart stopped beating and her body went numb as she yelled "DADI!" swayam came running towards her and saw her dadi passed out and went outside then came holding the glass of water in his hands which her dadi offered him earlier. He threw some water on her dadi's face who slowly opened her eyes and Sharon hugged her sobbing and saying "oh god dadi don't leave me please, I'll do whatever you say just stay with me….u want me to marry him then I'll marry him just don't leave me alone" then she looked at swayam and said "I am ready to marry you" and then once again hugged her dadi while swayam couldn't believe his ears. He felt at the top of the world and just then her dadi winked at him which made him extremely confused and then her dadi grinnned at him mouthing "all the best" and he couldn't help but grin back.
