First, that helplessness as Khushi cried - my my - beautifully described! Then when she broke down in Arnav's arms! Awww, it reminded me of that first hug they shared after all the drama that happened post kidnapping track in our show... It was simply too tooo good to read...

And then the two contradictory lines - Khushi promising to protech Maya and Arnav making a mental note to destroy Maya...! OMG, this is getting exciting now. I better be ready when you update the next one, I can bet anything that's gonna be tantalizing to read!!!!

Chapter 12- Misconcieved Assail

When the family was taking its initial step towards eternal happiness, the betrayal by one among them shook their core. And the pain along with the consequent loss rendered it impossible for them to venture out of their depression.

A day after the funeral, Khushi returned to Awhero as its rightful Queen.

She was accompanied by Siddharth and Payal, while the elders stayed at Matangi and the three remaining siblings returned to Wairua. The gloom descended upon the people of all the three kingdoms as they saw their beloved royal family torn apart with grief.

Lord Amish was slowly losing his spirit. He wanted Arnav to take up the throne. But that meant sabotaging his son's only happiness with the love of his life. He couldn't make Aakash take up the throne in his brother's place as he already was announced the heir to the throne of Matangi by promising his hand in marriage to Payal. From one of its glorious moment, the family was blown apart and all the lives suffered. Where was their lives heading? Were they entitled to happiness ever ? Or were they destined to suffer forever?

Amish wondered whether he would ever find the answer to these questions, before he too joined his loved ones in afterlife. He knew his time was nearing, but he wanted to hold on to his life and see the happiness of his living family before closing his eyes in eternal sleep. He didn't want to subject them to one more loss any time soon...

Life was never fair to those who deserved it. Everyone suffers for some of their mistakes or due to the mistakes of others. And this once beautiful family, suffered due to their ancestor's one moment of clouded judgment. It is sad that none of them knew of this, cause the only ones who knew, now lay cold beneath the earth.

The three couples, now separated due to the twist of fate.

All of them suffering equally from the pain of loss and separation.

It is not fair of me to say that one of the couple suffered more. But I have to.

After the funeral, Payal packed Khushi's and her own things as she failed to receive any kind of reaction out of Khushi except some painful sobs.

Siddharth informed them that they would be leaving early for Awhero by dawn, to reach there before the storm that was about to set.

He left them to collect themselves from their ever present grief.

As he walked out into the cold night, he saw an ethereal lonely figure gliding towards him.

He immediately made up his mind, to save this family from anymore pain afflicted intentionally or un-intentionally. They have suffered enough. They needn't suffer anymore on his cause.

"What are you doing out here, in the dead of the night Princess?" he asked the figure, that came to halt before him.

"I wanted to talk... to u Lord..." whispered Anjali.

"Is there anything left for you to word it out to me" , it was a dismissive statement.

"Yes ofcourse. We need to talk about US Siddharth...", Anjali's voice rang out clearly in the silent night.

"There never was an US my Princess. And there will never be."

"What are you saying Siddharth? And stop addressing me so formally."

"I should know my place and address you as it is supposed to be Princess. And as I said there is nothing left for us to talk. I should take my leave now", saying he turned away from her.

"But what about my feelings. What about my...love for you?" her broken whisper stopped him midstride.

"That is not my concern Princess. If you harbored any feelings for me, believe me, it was never mutual. Get over your it soon and return to your chambers this instant. I am leaving to Awhero with Khushi and Payal by the morrow. After helping them settle down the kingdom, I'll be off to my home and there is no question of me returning. It is a goodbye my Princess..." he said and walked away stoning his heart while a broken sob escaped her lips.

He was doing this for the family he loved so much, he kept on reminding himself and urged his legs to walk away, far away from the woman who had his heart, though it meant hurting her too.

Two hearts broken already and another couple trying to cope up with the separation which could mean the end of their relationship, or just a long separation in their new found love.

Arnav came to see Khushi because he too had to leave by the break of dawn to Wairua.

He thought she would be asleep by now, but was surprised to see her awake staring off at the gathering dark clouds that hinted the upcoming storm.

She felt him beside her.

"They are not here Arnav..." she whispered still unmoving her eyes from the skies.

"Who Khushi?"

"Them... My parents and Adithya. They are not here..." she replied in an emotionless voice.

Arnav didn't know how to answer that. He didn't know what to tell her. He cannot possibly tell her they are forever gone from their lives cause it would bring her more pain and to himself too.

"I have searched the entire skies. They are not here..." she broke the silence once more.

He understood. She was searching for them among the clouds. For the stars that would mean they reached Valhalla, their heaven.

"They are there love. They have gone to Valhalla. The storm has just obscured the skies. You will see them when the sky is clear" he said slowly wrapping her in his arms.

"But..."

"Shhh... What you need now is a good sleep after everything. You have long journey awaiting tomorrow."

"That very journey is meant to take me away from you Arnav..." she whispered, and the first drops of tears silently made their way down her flawless skin.

He cupped her face in his palms and kissed the tears away and pulled her into a fierce embrace.

"No Khushi. It just means we have more responsibilities to take up and a country to look after. We'll be together. I promise. My promise from before still holds forever. I'll be by your side no matter what. Lets settle the kingdoms first and unite once the grief that has gripped us all ebbs away. You know I cannot live without you anymore. Sometimes we have to make choices for others too. Unlike your sister who wanted just her happiness and left us in turmoil" he muttered in her hair as his arms tightened around her by the end.

A cold fear gripped Khushi. She knew the meaning of his words. Though it was whispered to take away her pain, it just proved the still alive vengeance in his heart, directed towards the very sister she vowed to protect to herself. Panic rose within her and gave way to more hopeless tears.

Arnav hugged her close mistaking her fear as grief of separation.

"Khushi please. I'll be with you in your soul wherever you are. We both will feel the very existence of us deep down our hearts. It is just a physical separation. Our hearts will always be one and beat as one. I love you Khushi. And I promise we'll be together soon. I love you more than anything Khushi and I'll do anything for you..." his broken voice promised her once more.

These very words stirred the new hope within the fathoms of her heart. He would do anything for her. He wouldn't hurt her sister if she was against it. The simmering hope flared within her heart and her sobs resided. She looked up from his chest with the lost twinkle back in her hazel orbs and met his honey ones.

As he saw the hope glinting in her eyes back at him, he felt an unknown weight being lifted off his heart. She accepted with him on her sister's injustice to the family that loved her. She betrayed them. All of them. He was unsure about his wrath against Maya. But seeing Khushi agree with him cleared all his doubts and he willed to make Maya and Shyam pay for their foolish selfishness.

He glanced back at her and asked ,"Will you stay by my side Khushi? Through all these hurdles and storm..."

"Yes Arnav. I promised you that already. I'll be by your side and wait for you no matter how long it takes to bring the lost peace upon our family and people. I love you Arnav...I love you with everything in me and hope you'll be by me, till this storm clears" she whispered.

Arnav's eyes darkened a shade and finally to a molten bronze, at every single word she spoke for him, and finally he leaned down to take her lips in a passionate kiss sealing their promise to each other.

Three bright stars fought there way through the darkness and shined upon the couple.

But they were immediately covered by the dark clouds, hinting the thunder storm that was about to havoc their lives. The events that happened till now, merely being the beginning of the onset of the actual blizzard.
