Part 50

"Shaks…."

She heard someone call her out…. It sounded like him….. oh God, not again!!... not here!!... this was not the first time she had heard his voice….. she wished she had seen a psychiatrist….. she desperately needed one.

And then she looked up.

Oh. My. God…..!!!... and now I see him??... and yes, that was a first….. I really have to stop thinking about him... she blinked to let the image fade….. but it dint….. Nooo!!... I've gone totally insane!!... and it wasn't like the image was moving….. he was frozen in his place…. simply staring back at her….. not even a blink…. Ok, so now she was sure she was hallucinating.

"hey, is that Amar?"

Neeti, who was standing next to her spoke up.

Shakti's eyes widened…. She saw him too???... was this disease contagious???

And then the image moved….. towards her….. slowly….. purposefully…… like some haunting ghost.

Neeti- yup, see, it's definitely Amar.

She gulped in a sharp breath….. Kunwar?... here?... really?... it wasn't her imagination?... well, she couldn't lie, she knew she would see him again….. but not like this….. she dint think she was ready yet….. her hand involuntarily moved to her neck….. abrading the scar a little….. the one he had left behind….. why dint it sting anymore???... she needed a reminder of that night or else she would make a faux pas by running straight into his arms.

A stab of guilt shot through his heart….. the blemish on her throat, that she was trying to chafe off, was taunting him….. I don't deserve to be even standing here, in front of her….. after all he had been the one to cause her so much pain….. he considered to turn back and leave….. but when he looked back in her auburn eyes, he couldn't move in any direction but towards her.

Neeti- Hi Amar….. wassup?

Oh…… he hadn't realized Neeti was standing with her.

Amar- hi Neets.

Neeti- tum yahan kya kar rahe ho?

Amar- main…… main woh…..

Shakti- yeh woh….. apne ek friend ko lene aaya tha.

Amar frowned….. Friend?... lene?... what is she talking about?... why was she lying to Neeti?... and why was even Neeti being so civil with him?... hadn't Shakti told her anything?

Neeti- oh……. toh kahan hai?

Amar- (confused) kaun?

Neeti- tumhara friend?

Amar- oh….. haan….. friend….. ummm….. pata nahi….. kho gaya.

Neeti- kya?... kho gaya? (laughs)

Amar- matlab woh….. woh aaya hi nahi….. ussne……unnn…… flight miss kar di thi.

Neeti- oh…. sad….. well, thank god for Shakti ke woh mujhe yahan time pe le aayi….. warna aaj meri bhi flight miss ho jaati.

Neeti's flight?... Shakti had come to just drop her?... holy sh*t!!... Shakti wasn't going to New York??!!... yes, how would he know?... he hadn't let Shakti's mom finish her statement…… he had ran out of the house as soon as he heard she had left for the airport….. but Dharmesh ko toh pata chal gaya hota….. that idiot dint even call….. uski toh main……

Shakti saw his expression change from shock, to one of confusion…. Why is he so confused?... oh!!…... he thought I was leaving??... she bit her lip to suppress an urge to chuckle.

Was she laughing at me?... but she was good at concealing it….. oh, how he wished to see her laugh…… or right now even a small smile would suffice.

Clearing his throat, he turned back to face Neeti.

Amar- so where are you going?

Neeti- I'm going to Spain for a concert.

Amar- for how long?

He eyed the huge bag, Shakti had tried to mount on the cart.

Neeti- just a couple of weeks.

Amar- that's cool…… umm, you need help with that? (Pointing at the bag)

Neeti- yes please…..

He quickly loaded the cart.

Neetti- thanks Amar….. you're an angel (wink)

Amar- no problem Neets (smile)

Neeti- acha chalo, my flight has already been announced…... I'll make a move….. as it is I'm late.

Turning to Shakti, she gave her a rib crushing hug.

Neeti- bye Shaks…… thank you sooo much for the drive…… I love you.

Shakti- I'll miss you, Neets.

Neeti- aww baby….. it's just 15- 20 days…... it's not like I'm leaving for 3 years, unlike some people (wink)….. I'm so glad you dropped the idea (sigh)…. I'm sure you'll get better options here….. and waise, we would have missed you like crazy!!... hai na Amar?

She wasn't going to NY at all?... Oh my God!!... was this really happeneing?... he dint think he could take so much information in one go….. he dint know what to do….. he wanted to jump around like a freaking monkey…… he wanted to dance like a manic at someone else's baarat….. but most of all, he wanted to sweep her in his arms and carry her to somewhere a little bit more private.

Shakti- umm….. thanks Neeti…… I think you should go….. your flight's been announced again.

Neeti- oh yes….. ok….. see you both soon.

She hugged Amar and Shakti again.

Shakti- bye….. have a safe flight….. call us after you reach.

Niti- yes maam (wink)…… love you.

Shakti- me too (smile)

As soon as Neeti disappeared behind the terminal gate, Shakti turned around and left.

Amar sighed….. getting her to talk?….. now, that is going to be a real task….. and he followed her out.

She led him to the parking lot….. well, technically he trailed behind.

She searched the entire parking lot….. but she couldn't find her car…… yahi kahin toh rakhi thi….. aur yeh gadha mujhe follow kyun kar raha hai?... it's irritating.

Amar- searching for something?

She turned around to give him a 'shut up' glare…..

Amar- (raising his hands) ok, chill.

After completing two entire rounds of the parking lot…… she gave up.

Shakti- I can't find it.

Amar- find what?

Shakti- my car!!

Amar- oh….. but I saw it there quite some time back.

He pointed at the corner, where her car peacefully stood.

Shakti- you idiot!!!... toh pehele nahi bata sakte the?... you think I was just strolling here??

Amar bit back a chuckle and shrugged…… rolling her eyes and groaning in frustration she walked to her car.

He followed her again….. he knew he had put up long enough now.

Amar- Shaks, we need to talk.

Shakti- (snapped) I don't want to talk.

Amar- acha ok….. toh meri baat suno….. ummm….. Shaks….. about that night……

She suddenly stopped in her step, making him almost bump into her….. She turned to face him, her eyes shone with rage.

Shakti- kaha na….. I don't want to discuss anything with you…… why don't you just get lost and leave me alone!

She turned back and reached her car….. but before she could open the door, Amar snatched her keys.

Amar- Shaks please….. meri baat…..

She tried to grab the keys back….. he pulled it away and shoved it in his pocket.

Amar- you have to hear me first…..

Crossing her arms and leaning on the car she waited for him to start….. she looked everywhere but at him….. Stepping a little close, he made her look up.

Amar- I'm sorry…… I'm really really very sorry!!... I was disgusting!!... horrible!!... cruel!!... maine aise karne ka socha bhi kaise?... you were right, main ek number ka b*****d hun….. but….. (sigh)….. I know nothing justifies to what I did to you….. but I want you to know….. I was…..ummm…… I was trying to make it easy for you to decide.

When he paused a little too long, she snapped…..

Shakti- decide what??

Amar- I never wanted you to reconsider any of your decisions for me….. I agree I was upset when I heard about the contract…. And it killed me to think of you being away for 3 years!!... it still does.

Taking a deep breath and trying to shoo that thought away, he continued……

Amar- I over reacted at that moment…. But then, when I asked you if you'd leave, you said you dint know….. how could you not know, Shaks?... you always know…… you're my beautiful fighter…… you never give up on your dreams….. and when you were reconsidering….. I realized it was because of me….. I was the one holding you back….. so I did what I felt suited the situation.

He stepped closer, cupping her face in his hands.

Amar- One of the reasons I fell irrevocably in love with you, was your fervor to live life to the fullest…… and to do what you love the most….. 'Dance'... nothing bends you from doing what you want….. not even that accident when you were kid…… toh main….. how could I let your feet falter?

Her wide impeccable eyes bore a fissure through his chest….. they were distracting him from his train of thoughts…… he shut his eyes from her innocent one….. the flashes of that dreadful night came rushing back to him…… opening his eyes, he skeptically eyed her scars…… he lifted his hand to lightly graze the most prominent one near her collar bone.

Amar- (whisper) and I absolutely loathe myself for doing this…… I'm sorry jaan….. I wish I could take it all back.

Trembling slightly, she stepped back….. he moved up close again….. wrapping his arms around her, he lowered his head to brush his lips over the wounds.

He breathed in her fragrance…… he ached to cover the remaining distance….. but she hadn't said a word….. he knew, he should take it slow….. but his brains always go grazing when she was in his arms.

Groaning, she arched her body to his and encircled her arms around his neck.

Shakti- I hate you, Kunwar. (moan)

He frowned…… wasn't that the exact opposite of what her body was saying?

Amar- you really shouldn't be responding to me like this then.

Pushing him back….. she tore her body from his….. she punched his chest…… hard!!…… once…… twice…… thrice…… and then she continued to shower him with her tiny fist punches...

Shakti- I really hate you!!... you're a jacka**!!!... apne aapko samjte kya ho?... jab chaahe decide kar loge ke mujhe kya chahiye?... ek baar bhi mujhe poochne ki zaroorat nahi samji?... bade aaye the mere friend…. Mujhse baat toh hoti nahi hai…..and look at your guts, jab maan chaaha, aake sorry bhi bol doge?... you're a dog, Kunwar!!... and I hate you!!

She grabbed his collar.

Shakti- sunna tumne?... I hate you!!!

With no further warning, she cupped his face in her gentle hands, stepped closer until they were thigh-to-thigh and belly-to-belly and she crushed her lips to his…… this set off a nuclear reaction strong enough to incinerate his poor body to dust.

He stood there….. Dumbfounded….. there was nowhere in hell, he could react….. this was the last thing he had expected her to do….. too stunned and not knowing what to do with his hands, he let them remain at his side.

She nudged his lips open with her tongue and wiggled closer…… he surely was dreaming, wasn't he?

Nibbling his lips, she groaned…..

Shakti- hold me, you moron!

Coming out of his dizziness, he obliged, gathering her in his arms.

Minutes later….. or was it hours?... he remembered something….. breaking the kiss, he slightly pulled back…… her soft moan of protest was endearing…… but this was important.

Amar- you're not going to New York?... why?

Shakti- I got a better offer here.

Amar- oh?... what?

Shakti- you!

Pulling his head back to her….. she continued to where he had stopped.

Tearing his lips from hers again, he inquired……

Amar- you knew? (puzzled)

Shakti- Kriti and Dharmesh helped.

Amar- saale Dharmesh ki toh main…… but Kriti, usse kaise pat……??

Shakti- sushhh!!... tum bahut baat karte ho, Kunwar.

Amar- later?

She nodded and was back in action….. he possibly couldn't change her one track mind right now….. and he was happy…… sorry, really happy to help with whatever she wanted.
