A girl dressed in a pretty pink salwar suit was waiting at the arrivals area. "Lagta hai, woh nahi aayengi.. Mujhe akele hi jaana hoga.." She turned around as she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Ab main tumhe kabhi akela nahi chodungi..". She touched her feet to seek blessings and Vanshika blessed her whole-heartedly. She had grown up to be a pretty young girl. She had her mother's eyes. Yes! But that is what had made her prettier.. "Tum bohot sundar ho.. bilkul apne naam ki tarah.. HEER' pyaar ka prateek.." Heer smiled and walked alongwith Vanshika to the car.

"Aaj Viren aur Jeevika ki wedding anniversary hai..Bohot saari tayyariyaan chal rahi hai ghar pe.. Tumhe mera haath batana hoga..".. But Heer was in her own world.. She was finally going to meet her family.. Will they accept her? Or will she be left an orphan once again?

"Heer.. Kahan kho gayi? Chalo ghar aa gaya".. She looked outside her window and saw a huge mansion. Toh yeh Papa ka ghar tha.. hai.. She stepped out of the car and stood staring at the door. Vanshika realizing her hesitation held her hand and took her inside.. At first, she stood transfixed as she saw the massive house, servants running helter-skelter and a few pair of eyes staring at her..

"Heer.. Chalo andar beta..". Kadambari came forward, "Arre Bhabhi, yeh soni kudi kaun hai?" Vanshika had mentally recited the answer to this question a million times atleast. However, when the time came, she was at a loss of words.. Realising this, Heer moved forward and greeted Kadambari..

"Mera naam Heer hai.. main Vanshika aunty ki muh-boli behen ki beti hoon.. Aur aap, Kadambari Chachi hai, hai na?".. Vanshika could only stare at Heer. This girl was indeed selfless, she thought. "O terri, tumhe kaise pata.. chaddo, koi nahi.. andar aao.. Kinna sona naam hai tera.. Heer.. waise tujhe tera Ranjha mil gaya hai ya abhi bhi milna hai?". Heer looked up shocked.. That's when Vanshika stepped in. "Kya Kadambari, tum bhi.. dara diya na bacchi ko..Chalo, main tumhe baaki sabse milvati hoon.".

They walked towards Viren and Jeevika, "Bete, yeh hai tumhare Viren Bhai aur tumhari Jeevika Bhabhi." Heer looked at him, he looked like a replica of her father and his wife had the most purest smile she'd ever seen. "Namaste Bhai-Bhabhi." Jeevika went ahead and hugged her but Viren saw Heer shed a tear, so he too went ahead and placed a hand on her shoulder. No one had called him Bhai apart from Virat and Shlok till date. It was strange but he felt pleased when she did that.

They saw Virat walking down the stairs, yelling into his phone, "Tum logon se ek kaam bhi dhang se nahi hota.. Itni important file kaise ghuma sakte ho.. dhoondho usse, abhi ke abhi. I want it on my desk in 15 minutes or else you're fired.." He stopped in his tracks when he saw the entire family staring at him and wait! Was his Bhabhi hugging a stranger?
He walked over to his mother, touched her feet, "Maa, main chalta hoon.. Mujhe aane mein der ho jayegi.." "Ruko Virat, aaj shaamko ghar mein party hai, aur tum ho ki der se aane ki baat kar rahe ho.. Aur yeh kya tha, tum kabse itna chillane lage logon pe?" "Lekin Maa, mera kaam bhi toh important hai na.. Aur haan, maine Bhai aur Bhabhi ko subah subah hi wish kar diya tha.. Aur waise bhi mera party attend karne ka bilkul mood nahi hai.." "Mood nahi hai.. Ho kya gaya hai tumhe Virat.. Main kuch nahi jaanti, tum kahin nahi jaa rahe ho.. Office mein aur bhi log hai, jo ek din tumhare aur Viren ke bina manage kar sakte hain.. That's it.. Waise mujhe tumhe kisise milana hai.." He saw his mother hold the strange girl and walk towards him, "Iss se milo, yeh hai Heer, ab se yeh humare saath rahegi.. Aur Heer, yeh hai mera chota beta, Virat." She held her hand out to greet him, but he bluntly muttered a Hi and walked away from her handing over his car keys and jacket to a servant.. She felt weird at first.. itna attitude.. lekin Maa ne jo inke baare mein bataya tha, woh kya tha!

Kadambari realized that Heer was feeling bad. They had all become used to Virat's mood swings over the past few months, but Heer was new.. "Arre aao Heer. Baitho. Waise tum bilkul sahi samay pe aayi ho. Aaj Viren aur Jeevika ki Shaadi ki pehli saalgirah hai.. Aur shaam ko ghar mein party.. Hai ni, mujhe toh abhi se excitement ho rahi.." And suddenly Kadambari had stopped talking and the everyone present was staring towards three figures alighting the stairs.
Yeh jaroor Dadaji honge aur woh Swamini Bua. Papa theek hi kehte they.. bohot daraavne dikhte hain..

"Kadambari, itna saara kaam pada hai.. aur tum ho ki, tumhe toh apni baaton se fursat hi nahi hai.."Vanshika decided to step in. "Bauji, Didi, yeh Heer hai. Meri muh-boli behen ki beti. Mujhe iske baare mein aap se kuch baat karni thi.." Swamini glared at the girl while Dadaji looked at her trying to decipher something. Heer moved forward and touched their feet. They both blessed her and proceeded towards the couch.

"Haan toh, bolo Bahu, kya kehna hai tumhe." Now was the time, when it would be decided if Heer would be allowed to stay back in her own house with her family. Vanshika took a deep breath and said, "Bauji, Heer Delhi mein rehti hai mere Bhaiya-Bhabhi ke paas. Lekin aap toh jaante hai, ki woh dono London shift ho rahein hai aur Heer unke saath nahi jaa sakti. Toh maine socha, ki kyun na usse yahan le aau.. Waise bhi, humare alawa, iska aur koi nahi hai." Swamini raised an eyebrow at that. "Mera matlab hai ki, iske parents ke jaane ke baad se, Bhaiya ne hi iski zimmedari li hai toh maine socha ki kyun na ab yeh humare parivaar ka ek hissa ban jaaye."

To say Heer was nervous would be an understatement. She was biting her nails. "Haan, baat toh sahi hai Bahu. Hum iske baare mein sochte hai." He turned towards Heer, "toh Beta, tum karti kya ho? Matlab padh rahi ho ya job karti ho?". "Jee, main doctor hoon. Bass kuch hi mahinon pehle maine apni internship khatam ki hai aur ab aage padhna chahti hoon." There was something about the girl that appealed to Vijay Singh Vadhera. He decided to test her further.

"Toh Heer, tell me, what is more important in life, money or principles? Tumhari zindagi mein kis rishte ki sabse jyada ehmiyat hai?" She was taken aback for a while. The entire family was stunned. They knew this was one of Dadaji's tests. She looked at Vanshika who gave her an assuring smile.

"To say that money isn't important in life would be foolish. Itni mehengai bhare dinon mein, paison ke zaroorat kisse nahi hai.. Food, Housing, Education, Medication jaisi cheezon ke liye paisa bohot jaroori hota hai.. Lekin saath hi saath, humein yeh nahi bhoolna chahiye, ki paisa humesha ke liye nahi rehta. Aaj agar koi Raja hai toh kal who Raste pe par bhi aa sakta hai.

Lekin jo cheez humesha saaye ki tarah humare saath rehte hai, woh hai humare usool.. Jo mushkil waqt mein bhi humara saath nahi chodte. Mere Papa kaha karte the (she looked at Vanshika briefly), ki Zindagi mein har mod par humesha do raaste milenge, ek sahi aur ek galat. Galat raaste par chalna bohot aasaan hoga, woh tumhe apni taraf kheenchega.. Uske liye tumhe apne usoolon ko thukrana padega.. Galat raaste mein tumhe shuruwat mein bahut khushiya milengi...par anth me tumhari haar hogi... (You will always face crossroads in life, one right and the other will be wrong. The wrong path will be very easy to walk along, it will attract you towards itself, but you will have to sacrifice your morals-principles for it. You may be happy for a while, walking on the wrong path, but you will lose in the end. ) Aur ho sakta hai, ki sahi raaste pe chalne par, tumhe shuruat mein taklif ho, bohot sehna pade, lekin anth mein tumhari hi jeet hogi, kyunki tum apne usoolon par kayam rahe.. (And maybe, while walking on the right path, you may suffer in the beginning, but in the end, you will emerge victorious because you never compromised on your principles and stuck to them.) Main apne Papa ki kahi hui woh baat aaj tak nahi bhooli..

Aur haan, mere liye sabse jyada agar koi rishta maine rakhta hai toh who hai insaaniyat ka rishta. Kyunki main khud ek doctor hoon, main iss rishte mein sabse jyada vishwas karti hoon."

The entire family was in a daze. They looked at her with their mouths open. Viren was the one who started clapping, followed by the rest of the family. Dadaji had a broad smile on his face. Only two people in the world had spoken to him fearlessly and expressed their opinion in the past. One was his elder son, Vikram and the other was Manvi, the girl he had begun to respect later. And now this new girl.

He stood up and put his hand on her head. "Shabbash beta, mujhe tumse yahi ummeed thi. Bahu, yeh ladki yahin rahegi. Aur iski aage ki padhai ka zimma bhi hum uthaenge. Main kal hi Chandigarh ke sabse bade medical college mein iska admission kara doonga."

Vanshika looked proudly at Heer. She was indeed her husband's daughter. But then, something made her stop in her steps. She had seen a smile on her younger son's face. It had been there for fraction of a second, but she hadn't missed it. So, he likes Heer.

Dadaji and Inder left for the court for some urgent work. Swamini got up to leave, but not before glaring at Heer. Proud and arrogant girl. Exactly like Manvi. Viren and Virat didn't miss it. They were well aware of what Swamini was thinking at that moment.
They both moved forward towards Heer at the same time. "Arre waah Heer, tumne kya jawab diya hai Dadaji ko.. Aaj tak toh yeh kaam bass Manvi ne hi kiya hai." And she saw everyone's faces had fallen at the mention of Manvi. And the worst of all was Virat. He simply walked away without talking to her. This guy is weird, she thought. Ek pal mein itni concern, aur ek hi pal mein itni detachment.

"Chalo chalo, ab baatein bohot ho gayi hai. Main Heer ko uska kamra dikha deti hoon." Vanshika started walking towards the staircase. "Rukiye Maa, main le jaati hoon. Aap ke liye kuch phone calls aaye the.. aap unhe dekh lijiye." And Jeevika held Heer's hand and led her upstairs.

They reached one of the guest bedrooms, the same one, which Manvi usually occupied, when she was here. Manvi's face instantly flashed in front of Jeevika's eyes for a moment and Heer didn't miss it. "Aap theek hai?" "Huh.. Haan, chalo andar. Aaj se yeh tumhara kamra hai. Kissi bhi cheez ki zaroorat ho toh mujhe bata dena.". "Kya main aapko Bhabhi bula sakti hoon?". "Arre yeh bhi koi poochne ki baat hai." "Toh Bhabhi, firstly, aapko aur Viren Bhai ko shaadi ki saalgirah ki Heer ki taraf se dher saari badhaiyaan.. Main dua karoongi ki aap dono humesha saath rahein, khush rahein..". Jeevika could not help but smile at her. "Thank you soo much Heer. Waise tum jaanti ho, mujhe iss ghar mein saare rishte miley.. Bass ek chulbuli si nanad ki kami thi.. Lekin ab lagta hai ki tumhare aane se woh bhi poori ho jayegi." She heard Viren calling.. "Jeevika.. Jeevika.. mera coat kahaan rakha hai??".. "Jaaiye jaaiye Bhabhi.. aapke patidev bula rahein hai..". Jeevika gave Heer a small tap on her head and walked out.

Huh.. not bad..She thought and she was just about to lie down on the bed, when she saw Vanshika entering her room and closing the door behind her. "Heer, tum yahaan theek toh ho na.. mujhe maaf kar dena, main neeche sabke saamne.." Heer walked over to her, made her sit down on the couch. Kneeling in front of her, "Its okay.. Main samajhti hoon aapke liye kitna mushkil hoga.. Lekin mujhe aapse koi shikayat nahi hai.. Mere liye yahi kaafi hai ki main apne ghar, apni family ke paas hoon.. Viren Bhai, Jeevika Bhabhi, Chachi, Shlok yeh sab kitne pyaare hain.. Aur Dadaji, pehle toh mujhe unse darr laga tha, lekin phir laga ki woh itne bhi bure nahi hain.. Waise Bua ka bartaav thoda ajeeb tha.. hai na?" "Arre nahi nahi.. Didi hain hi aisi.. woh jaldi se kisi ko pasand nahi karti.. thodi sakht zaroor hain, lekin hum sab se bohot pyaar karti hai..". Hesistatingly, she asked Vanshika, "Vaise, aapse ek baat poochoon?" Vanshika nodded her head. "Maa, yeh Virat Bhaiya ko koi pareshaani hai kya? Jab se main aayi hoon, maine unhe pareshaan sa dekha hai.." Vanshika sighed.. So yes, she was right when she thought that Heer might be able to help her heal Virat. They were both similar in a strange way.

They were interrupted by a knock on the door.
