Part 12
"I'm sorry Partner.."
Virat couldn't believe his ears. So this is what lead Manvi away from him. This is what Viren and Jeevika had kept from him. This is why he had spent the last four months breaking his head. Swamini Bua had blamed Manvi for his breakup with Maya. She had said all those ridiculous things to Manvi and her family.
He was brought out of his reverie by wetness on his chest. He realized that Manvi was clutching onto his collar and crying. He gently separated her from himself and made her sit down on the chair, while he took her hand in his own and knelt down in front of her.
"Partner, tum sorry kyun keh rahi ho? I'm the one who should be saying sorry.. Tumhare saath itna sab kuch ho gaya, aur tumne ek baar..Ek baar bhi mujhse baat karne ki koshish nahi ki..Gavaar!! agar karti toh, main khud Bua ki saari misunderstandings clear kar deta na.."
She looked up at him, and wiped her tears with the free hand,
"Chep ho kya? Suna nahi tumne? Di se promise kiya tha maine..Kaise batati tumhe?"
He smiled. His Bandariya was finally back..
"Toh kya zindagi bhar chupa ke rakhne ka irada tha? Kabhi na kabhi toh mujhe pata chal hi jaata na.."
Now she was getting annoyed,
"Haan toh, tab tum kya karte? Buaji se jhagda? Aur uska bhi saara bill merepe hi phat ta.. Kyun?"
He shook his head and took her other hand in his palms,
"Yaar, aisa kuch nahi hoga.. I promise.. Aaj ke baad, meri kissi bhi galti ya bevakoofi ke liye tumhe koi dosh nahi dega.. Trust me Manvi, it's a gentleman's promise.."
She could feel the truth and sincerity hidden behind those words. But Manvi Chaudhry hated being sentimental..
She looked to her left, then her right and then upwards.. "Gentleman? Kahaan hai? Oh tum!!" And she burst out laughing..
Virat was amused at first and joined her laughter within a few seconds. They were both down on the floor with Manvi still holding his collar while Virat had an arm around her.
Manvi was the first one to realise their odd position. She struggled to get out of his arms and he obliged. She was about to turn away, when Virat held her hand.
"Manvi, maine tumse ek promise kiya. Ab baari tumhari.." She looked at him with questioning eyes.
"Jo hua so hua.. I want you to promise me ki aaj ke baad, kabhi bhi tum aisi bevakoofi nahi karogi.. Chaahe kuch bhi ho jaaye, tum humari dosti tootne nahi dogi.. You have no idea what this means to me. Dobara aisa kabhi mat karna, Partner!"
She only kept staring at him. She was humbled again by his sincerity. She placed her palm in his hand and pressed it gently,
"I promise Partner. Marte dum tak yeh dosti nahi tootne doongi.." She tried wiping off a lonely tear that had escaped her left eye.
Virat knew that she would never break her promise.. She was his Chaudhrain after all. Chalo ab senti stuff bohot ho gaya.. Ab baari hai nok-jhok ki.. He had missed his Partner's taunts and gaaliyaan..
"Okay then Partner, chalo ab bohot bhook lagi hai.. Jaldi se garma-garam khana laga do.. Main abhi Heer ko leke aata hoon.."
She was stunned. He was back to his Chep ways.. "Tumhe aur tumhari uss nayi girlfriend ko khana khilaye meri jooti.." And with that she stormed out of the room; while Virat ran downstairs to update Heer..
He knocked once, twice, thrice.. There was no answer.. Finally he tiptoed into the room and found Heer sitting on the window frame with her eyes shut. Her usually mischievious eyes were puffy, her nose was red..and he knew, she had been crying! Wait, Crying?? He had just handled another crying girl few minutes back. But why was Heer crying?
And that's when he realized, that though he had poured out his feelings in front of her, she hadn't done the same. He barely knew her, except for the fact that she was his mother's relative. He walked up to her and patted her head. She looked up and was shocked to see him standing there.. She immediately wiped off her tears and jumped down on the floor.
"Arre Bhaiya?? Kya hua? Aapki Juliet maani ya nahi? Bataaiye na Bhaiya.."
But he kept on staring at her,
"Heeriye, tu theek toh hai na? Ro rahi thi?"
She knew he had caught her red-handed. "Haan woh actually. Nothing serious.. Bass Mumma ki yaad aa gayi.."
He patted her head and handed her a glass of water..
She gave him a horrified expression and pointed towards the glass..
"Nahiii.. Yeh paani main nahi pee sakti.. Pata nahi aapki Juliet ne isme kya milaya hoga! Meri toh jaise jaan ki dushman ban gayi hai woh.."
He laughed at that.. She was just like him. Masking away her tears and pain.
"Okay toh ab mujhe bataiye.. Kya hua? Kya ab bhi situation out-of-control hai?"
And then he had narrated the entire incident to her. Her eyes had immediately welled up, "Bhaiya, yeh dono behenin kitna pyaar karti hain ek dusre se.."
Virat nodded his head, "Haan lekin iss bhaichaare ki wajah se meri band baj gayi hai.. Ab hum kya karenge, Heeriye?"
He sighed and placed his head on her shoulder.
"Oh mere Raanjhe-cum-Devdas!! Aise baithne se kuch nahi hoga.. Dekhiye, humare mission ka pehla task toh poora ho gaya.. Ab humein Manvi ko uski feelings realise karvani hongi.. Aur iske liye.."
He had interrupted her.. "Oye break laga.. Tune suna nahi, Bhabhi ki khatir, Manvi mujhse friendship todne ko taiyaar ho gayi thi.. Toh tujhe kya lagta hai, ki ab woh apni feelings aivayi maan legi.. Uska bulb jal jayega..Hawww, main bhi Virat se pyaar karti hoon!!"
She chuckled at that imitation. "Bhaiya, exactly.. Aap meri poori baat toh sun lijiye.. Aapki love story ki sabse important character hai Jeevika Bhabhi jo ki Manvi ki behen bhi hain.. Toh iss liye, aapko meri Chotti Bhabhi ko patane se pehle, humari Badi Bhabhiji ko patana hoga.."
Virat looked at her with an open-mouth, "Oye kya bakwaas kar rahi hai tu? Main Bhabhi ko kaise?"
And she realized that he was on a different page.. She hit her head against the bed post gently,
"Bhaiya!! Kya aap bhi.. Patana matlab waisa wala patana nahi.. Aapko Bhabhi ko ehsaas dilaana hoga ki Manvi aapki zindagi mein kya maaine rakhti hai.. Aapko Bhabhi ke good books mein aana hoga Bhaiya.. Aur ussi ke saath humara aadha mission accomplish ho jayega.. Samjhe ki nahi!!"
She raised an eyebrow and hit him gently on his forehead..
He smirked and hi-fived.. Yess.. so now he was eagerly waiting for Virika to arrive..
Vadhera Mansion, Chandigarh
Viren and Jeevika had just returned home.
J: Virenji, aap jaake fresh hojaiye, tab tak main humari packing kar deti hoon.."
She turned around and saw Viren resting on the recliner with his eyes shut. He seemed to be disturbed. She went and stood next to him.. "Virenji.."
He slowly opened his eyes, "Haan, haan Jeevika.. ohh.. tum chalo so jao, main abhi aata hoon.." With that he rushed out of the room.. She knew something was bothering him.
Viren knocked on his mother's door. "Maa, its me.. andar aa jaaon?"
Vanshika was lying down and reading a book and was surprised to see Viren there..
"Arre beta, tum.. tum kab laute?"
"Bass abhi kuch waqt pehle? How're you feeling Maa?"
She knew she had to lie again..
"I'm fine beta.. much better.. Tum batao, how was the function.."
He was a lawyer, he hated doing this, to his own mother. But then, he had to know the truth..
"It was really nice.. But sab aapko bohot miss kar rahein the.. Kaash aap bhi aati.."
She looked up at him and found that familiar piercing gaze, which he had inherited from his father.
"Viren.. woh main.." He understood..
He sat down next to her and held her hand,
"Maa, kyun?"
His eyes had conveyed his unspoken questions to her.
"Beta, I'm sorry.. Mere paas aur koi raasta nahi tha.. I had to do it for Virat.."
Viren was stunned.. Virat?? But why??
"Virat? Kyun Maa? Meri samajh mein nahi aaya.."
Vanshika knew she had to tell Viren.. maybe he could help Virat and Heer.. He would definitely..
She told him everything about Heer and her conversation and about them being in Hrishikesh.
Viren was shocked at first and then gave one of his sweetest smile to his mother.
Vanshika too was taken aback for a while.
"Maa.. Virat ki toh nikal padi.. I'm telling you, I really like this new girl Heer haan.. Jo main, uska apna bhai usse nahi karva saka, woh Heer ne karva diya.. Mindblowing!"
Now Vanshika was beyond shocked.. "Viren, tumhe pata tha??"
V: of course Maa, maine hi toh usse uski feelings realise karvane mein help ki thi.. Tab, jab woh bevakoof khud bhi unse anjaan tha.. But now, Im sure Virat apni manzil zaroor haasil karega.."
Vanshika smiled at that and hugged her elder son. She was on top of the world. She was proud of her children.
"Okay Maa, main abhi chalta hoon.. warna meri biwi ko shaq ho jayega.. Aur phir, Virat ki train chalne se pehle hi derail ho jayegi.."
Hrishikesh Ashram
"Suniye ji.. Main keh rahi thi ki kal raat Prem chalega na humein station chodne? Lekin phir woh akela kaise rahega itne din? Kash woh bhi aa pata.. Haan mujhe pata hai, ki usse factory ke kaam se rukna hoga.. Lekin phir, uske khaane ka intezaam kaun karega?.. Aap toh jaante hain na, woh kaam mein itna ulajh jaata hai ki phir usse kissi cheez ka hosh nahi rehta..",
Lalit Singhania looked at his wife and shook his head..
"Gayatriji, aapka beta koi doodh-peeta bachha nahi hai.. Chabbis (26) saal ka ho gaya hai ab.. Usse aap kab tak apne pallu se baandhkar rakhengi? Kal ko uski shaadi ho jayegi.. Bhagwan hi bachaye aapki honewali bahu ko.."
Gayatri Singhania was annoyed now, "Bass kijiye ab aap.. Maa hoon uski.. Humesha uski chinta lagi rehti hai.. Aur raha sawaal meri bahu ka.. Toh aap uski chinta mat kijiye, main khud apne Prem ke liye ek ache ghar ki sundar, sanskari ladki le aungi.."
With that she turned on her side of the bed and slept off..
