Part 8

Rey entered the cafe and was looking around for Kriya. He knew he shouldn't have come. He should have interfered. However, he just felt it was necessary for him to have one look at her and then he would leave as decided.

He didn't want her to notice him, so he sneakily went inside, glancing over all the tables till his eyes rested on her and he couldn't look away. She looked gorgeous.

The man sitting with her had his back facing Rey; so he couldn't see who it was.

He looked at Kriya, she was laughing. Wow! He loved her laugh, not just the way she laughed but everything about her. Suddenly, her expression changed to a more annoyed and irritated one. She got up and was about to leave when the guy stopped her; holding her hand.

"How dare he touch her!" he spoke up mentally.

Rey felt the urge to go and take away Kriya from that guy whosoever he was. But, he couldn't just turn up in front of her. He didn't know how she would react. Plus, the 'stupid bet' of Vicky and Neha enforced him not to go up to her.

He decided to leave but stopped when someone called his name; it was Neha.

"Rey, what are you doing here?"

"Nothing, well I have to go, bye." he said while turning back to leave but Neha blocked his way.

"Kriya se milne aaye the?"

"Nai, bas yunhi.."

"Can we just sit and talk for a while?"

"We will take the table far away from hers so that there is no possibility that she will see you." she continued when she didn't get any reply from his side.

"So, Kriya told you everything about the bet?" Neha questioned while getting seated.

"Yeah! But don't be mad at her."

"I won't be. I always knew that she will tell you." she answered nonchalantly.

"How come?"

"Because she can't see you growing green with jealousy!" she laughed.

"I wasn't jealous Neha." he replied trying not to make an eye contact with her.

"She is my good friend and I was just concerned." he continued trying to convince her.

"Like brotherly affection?" she chuckled.

"Like good friends wala affection." he corrected her.

Neha just stared at him, not at all convinced by his explanation.

"Fine. I am jealous, maybe because we have been together, like in the same house. Maybe, I just can't see her with anyone but.."

"But yourself." she completed.

"Maybe." he replied.

"And why is it so?"

"Because I love her." he replied after taking in a deep breath.

He didn't quite believe himself that finally all that chaos and confusion in his heart and mind was sorted out. Finally, he could think clearly.

'I love her' this was it.

"Then just tell her about your feelings." Neha smiled bringing Rey back from all his thoughts.

"I don't know if she feels the same."

"I know she feels the same. Just go ahead and let her know how you feel."

"Ok." he said while getting up.

"And, let me tell you one secret so that you don't feel jealous anymore." she said while he stopped to listen.

"She is with Vicky." Neha answered casually.

"What?" he replied totally confused of what was going on.

"Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen" the host spoke up grabbing everybody's attention.

"How many of you want to win free tickets to Goa?" he questioned and almost everyone in the crowd replied a 'Yes'.

"Well, what you have to do for that is just give an impromptu performance with your partner and the couple who wins will get free tickets to Goa!" he shouted with enthusiasm.

"So, guys and girls please come up and get yourself registered. We will start the performances shortly after the registration is done."

"We expect a tough competition and participation in good numbers."

"Vicky! Tum meri blind date ho?" she questioned just when she saw him.

"Yes." he answered sheepishly.

She started laughing at his response. 'Vicky' her 'blind date'!

"Are you out of your mind?" she probed still not able to control her laughter.

"I am leaving." she muttered after a while and started getting up.

"Kriya, you still have 28 minutes and 35 seconds to go."

"It's not funny. I am leaving." she replied feeling really annoyed.

"Yeh joke bhi nai tha." he chuckled.

"Argh!"

"Listen, we had planned that a guy would come, but he didn't turn up. So, here's Vicky to the rescue."

Kriya just rolled her eyes.

"Why don't you spend time with Neha? Mujhe kyun bula liya? Mein toh aur badi pagaal nikli jo iss idiotically stupidish bet ko prove karne bhi aa gaye!" she answered feeling irritated.

"Is that even a word? Idiotically stupidish?" he grinned.

"Kitna time rehta hai?" she asked while she started playing a game on her phone not even bothering to wait for a reply.

"Well, precisely 25 minutes and 15 seconds."

"Ab mein aa gaye hun, so I'll stay for a while." she answered and continued playing her game.

"Come on Kriya. I don't think mein Rey jitna boring hoon that you would prefer playing some random games on your phone rather than talking to me."

'This was it.' Kriya was really annoyed and irritated and on top of that he is calling Rey 'boring.'

"Excuse me! Rey isn't boring." she immediately placed her phone aside and spoke up instantly.

"Rey ka naam he liya and tumhara pura focus phone se usseh defend karne pe shift hogaya. Not bad!" he smirked.

"Aise nai hai.."

"Toh phir kaisa hai?"

She didn't have any reply to this and Vicky could sense it that he had actually hit the target.

"How did he react when you told him that you are going out with someone?" he probed changing the subject.

"He was angry. But that was justified."

"Justified? How?"

"Suppose, meri jagah Neha hoti toh tumhe bhi toh gussa aata. So, same thing." she replied not realising the hidden meaning of her words.

"Same thing nai hai Kriya. Neha is my girlfriend but you and Rey are 'just good friends'. So, he can't decide who you should go out with. Right?" he asked her while she was lost in her own thoughts.

She didn't respond but was actually analysing why Rey reacted in this manner and why she didn't feel it was wrong.

After long moments of silence, she finally spoke up.

"I guess it's been more than half an hour. I need to go." she hurried and got up from her seat, walking towards the exit, still lost in her thoughts that she didn't realize that she bumped into someone.

The man held her with his strong arms not letting her fall down. She looked at him.

"Rey. What are you doing here?"

"I need to talk to you."

"About?"

He made her turn around so that her eyes rest on the poster.

'Dance you way to Goa!'

"Goa chalogi mere saath?"

"But for that we will have to win this dance competition." he continued.

"Kriya ko dance mein koi nai hara sakta!" she replied confidently and accompanied him for registration.
