The Guptas were really happy with Anjali's proposal. Their daughter was being married of to one of the richest families in Arsia. The Raisadas had come from a humble background and the new face of the company had taken the company to new heights in a few years.
"Poor kids they aren't lucky on the family front" Buaji said thoughtfully.
"I know jiji that is why I don't want to send Kushi to that family." Garima said still unsure.
But buaji was ecstatic "Garima come here.." Buaji said pulling her along making her walk around their tiny flat. "Remember years ago when sanka devi came into our lives, I then told you that she was a curse." She said smiling.
"Yes jiji but what does that have to do with anything?"
"Listen to me.. now I'm telling you that she is a blessing. She will lead us to better days. We'll never have to see this ugly house if she marries that rich boy."
"Wow jiji, you are right. I knew there was a reason I took her in. But what about the promise I made to her parents?"
"He'll let her complete her studies. They are a modern family. It's just his sister and nani in the house. I don't think they'll mind." Buaji hurried on still dreaming of the life she was going to have once that kushi gets married.
"Haye nandikishor, hasn't sankadevi returned yet?" She added sitting down.
"SANKA DEVI!" she couldn't keep this news to herself anymore she needs to confirm.
"Ji buaji" Kushi's smiling face appeared room the window.
"Come we need to talk."
Kushi flashed them another one of her 1000W smiles and went in.
"I'm glad you came on time for once. I need to tell you something. You know we raised you as our daughter and you have some responsibilities towards us. So you'll be getting married in two weeks." She said in one breath.
"But buaji I'm only 18, how can I get married now?"
"Ungrateful child we feed you and raise you for 13 years and this is what we get. I told you once and I don't want to repeat myself."
Kushi felt her tears sting but she wasn't going to give them the pleasure of watching her cry.
"Sure, whatever you say. Can I go to my room now?"
"one more thing, your wedding is in two weeks. And don't you want to know who your husband is?"
"Who is it?"
"It's ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA!" Buaji said. She was smiling from ear to ear like she was waiting forever to say those words. "Anjaliji came with the proposal this morning."
"Ok."
"What are you standing here for? You may leave."
Kushi ran to her room as soon as Buaji said those words. She had heard every word they said. She was sick and tired of being mistreated and backstabbed by the people she loved like her own family. They always do this to her. She knew they didn't love her as much as they loved Payal but she never thought they'd stoop so low. Maybe it was better for her to marry this guy. She knew who he was. He is one of her idols in the business world and not to mention good looking. The only thing is he always seemed cold and distant in his interviews.
Kushi sighed and looked around her room. Everything was pink and white and it had taken her ages to get the room just how she wanted it. She had worked forever to get the money to buy everything in this room. She never imagined that she one day had to leave this room.
I might be better of marrying him, at least it'll get buaji off my back. Ma and pa always said that god works in mysterious ways. She thought to herself. Tired of going through the conversation she just had with buaji kushi decided to give in. Rolling over she grabbed her diary and started writing.
Dear Diary
I'm getting married can you believe it? It's buajis idea. Hmph. Who else could come up with something like this. Oh and did I mention it's in two weeks..TWO WEEKS!!!! OMG I don't know if I should laugh or cry but ma always said to take everything with a smile and that's what I'm gonna do. Maybe he'll be my prince charming <3 not to mention it'll be the end of buaji ordering me around.. LOL.
