What a great great story! As always, somehow you bring to the forefront something that never even occurred to me and is now all I can think of.
What cut me to the quick was how this didn't even occur to Arnav- and you are absolutely right, in lacing Khushi's explanation with bitterness-the issue of her being a divorcee in this day and age, from her specific background is nothing more than a death knell to any future she may have had.
She would now only be eligible for middle aged widowers with bad breath and greedy lustful hands, for men with children looking for free maid and nanny service, and always face, well into her future, cruel mother in laws looking for a helpless girl to torment.
This is what Arnav's contract has left her with in terms of options should she even recover from the emotional scars he inflicted, and ever seek a relationship, a respectable marriage again. A nineteen year old, who should be giggling about her potential wedding, dreaming about bangles and ghagras and suhaagan rites has been destroyed, denied a future as effectively as if he had cut her heart in half.
I hope he pays, because she will be paying for a mistake she never committed, and that he too easily has gotten away with.
