Hey guys…. Here's part 20... enjoy 😊

Part 20

Shakti paced to and fro in her bedroom, biting her lower lip and cracking her knuckles….. she was getting anxious with every second about this Jaipur trip….. they would be here, to pick her up any time now….. she so wanted to call it off….. but she couldn't….. she had promised Palki maam.

She had insisted that she would go by herself….. but Sneha told her that they all would go together….. the boys were taking 2 cars….. and everyone was excited about the road trip….. she dint want to spoil their fun….. but that meant that she had to be around him….. how was she to act ignorant about his presence when he made her feel highly aware of him?

They had spoken to each other in these few days but that was always regarding the arrangements of the trip….. she consciously tried not to drift from the topic and kept it short….. surprisingly he was taking it just as lightly….. she wondered if he'd already forgotten about that night….. Good for me!!... but she dint feel very good about it….. Damn him for putting her in this condition.

There was a knock on her door and Kriti walked in.

Kriti- hi dii…. Sneha and Samantha are here….. they want you to hurry as others are waiting down in the car.

Shakti- ya Kriti….. I'll be there in 5 min.

Kriti- alright

She left….. Shakti walked to the mirror….. straightened her top, brushed her hair….. she collected her bags….. took a deep breath and left.

Sneha, Samantha and Shakti joined others near the cars….. She greeted everyone with a smile….. and glanced at him….. he was casually leaning on the car with arms crossed at his chest….. watching her….. her heart skipped a beat….. just the sight of him, made her legs go mushy….. that's ridiculious!!... get a hold of your head!!... she looked away.

The other boys loaded her bags in the cars and she waited for them to decide who will go in which car….. it was decided that Shantanu, Sneha, Alisha, Amar and obviously Shakti would go by one car….. she wondered why it was so obvious??... kyun mujhe humesha uske saath jaana padta hai….. not that I ever objected earlier….. but things were different now, weren't they??... argh!!... No, they aren't….. nothing has changed!!!…. She scolded herself…. While Archie, Macci, Samantha, Priyanka, Amar Gowda, Bharat, Vinti and Anjali would go by the other, bigger car.

They got in their respective cars and left.

Amar was driving their car with Shantanu by his side to keep switching from time to time….. the Girls took their seats behind….. Amar adjusted the rear view mirror to watch her….. she looked up and their eyes met….. she immediately looked away…. He smiled….. Shantanu looked at him with confused eyes.

Shantanu- chale dude?

Amar nooded and started the car.

He kept stealing glances at her…. But this time she made a conscious effort not to look up at him….. she would have some random conversations with Sneha and Alisha to divert her attention.

Amar put on the FM radio and switched the channels, finally settling on one.

Shakti relaxed and started to enjoy the drive.

He looked in the mirror and their eyes locked.

She gulped.

His lips twitched…. Trying to hold back his smile.

She quickly looked away…. Shifted in her seat and stared out of the window.

Her heart fluttered violently in her chest….. she was breathing hard….. if it was in her hands, she would have switched the damn thing off.

Her eyes wandered on their own accord and she watched him from the corner of her eyes.

He rubbed the back of his nape…. looking up in the mirror, into her eyes….. and winked.

She blinked…. looked down and blushed.

He smiled.

She took a deep breath to calm her nerves….. crossed her arms as she realized her hands were shaking….. leaned her head back and closed her eyes….. trying to avoid his intense gaze.

Tumhe neend aayegi ab na mere bin

She eyes snapped open and she sat up with a jolt and looked at the car player…. Eyes wide….. what was the matter with this singer??!!

Mujhe hai yakeen aisa aayega ek din

She looked up in the mirror, meeting his stare.

Khuli teri zulfon mein soya rahoonga

He raked his fingers through his hair, never leaving her eyes.

Tere hi khayaalon mein khoya rahoonga

Her face flushed and she lowered her lashes.

Kabhi gaur se meri aankhon mein dekho

She looked up again….. but this time could not resist his gaze….. she was lost in his chocolate eyes.

Shakti blinked…. quickly looked at Alisha…. And smiled….. she ran her hand on her face, trying to get back her normal color….. she was sweating….. she quietly asked Alisha for some water.

That was so weird!!... and how ironic could a situation get?!... if she would have watched such a scene in some shady movie, she would have laughed.

He shook his head and smiled….. well, that was awkward!!... she rubbed her hand on her face….. he noticed beads of sweat on her forehead….. she cleared her throat and asked Alisha for some water….. she swallowed half the bottle down….. he bit his lips and concealed a chuckle….. she never dared to look up at him.

Shakti laid her head back….. Closing her eyes, trying to sleep….. she hadn't realize she was tired and she dozed off quickly.

When she opened her eyes after some hours, she noticed she was leaning to Sneha's side, with her head on her shoulder….. but Sneha's arm and shoulder seemed surprisingly big and warm…. She nuzzled closer, burying her head in the crook of Sneha's neck….. she blinked and frowned….. her head snapped up….. that wasn't Sneha….. she looked up into those deep, rich eyes that always made her head spin.

Shakti- (frowned) what??

She sat up straight, rubbing her eyes with her hands….. I haven't seen right?….. oh god!! please, let me not be hallucinating!!... am I seeing him everywhere now??... how embarrassing….. she opened her eyes….. first she saw Shantanu on the driver's seat and Sneha sleeping on the front seat…. Then she saw Alisha on her right, who was sleeping with her head leaning on the window….. she sighed….. no she wasn't seeing stuff….. thank god!!... she slowly turned her head to the left to look at him.

She saw him smirk at her…. She glared at him.

Shakti- (whispered, not trying to wake anybody) what are you doing back here?

Amar- (grin) I came behind to hear you snore.

Shakti- (eyes wide) what!!... I do not snore!!!….. (furrowed her brow) I think.

Amar chuckled at her cute confused expression….. she looked up in his twinkling eyes….. grasping that he was kidding and she snarled at him…. that made him chuckle more….. she nudged her elbow in his chest and looked ahead.

She realized it was dark outside….. she turned back to him.

Shakti- what's the time?

Amar- 8.30

Shakti- oh god!!... how long have I been sleeping??

Amar- more than 5 hours.

Shakti- but why dint you'll wake me?

Amar shrugged….. and smiled.

Amar- hungry?

She hadn't realized it until he said it….. but yes she was hungry….. She nodded.

Amar bent down and shuffled in his bag….. he removed a foil and handed it to her…. She unwrapped it and smiled….. it was a whole wheat bread sandwich with all her favorite veggies.

Shakti- where did you get this??

Amar- I made it. (smirk)

She narrowed her eyes.

Shakti- don't lie.

He laughed.

Amar- ok fine…. I bought it for you on my way to your place….. my culinary skills are limited to boiling eggs and roasting papads. (puppy face)

Shakti watched his innocent baby expression and giggled…. She reached up and pulled his cheek.

Shakti- You're a sweetheart, Kunwar.

He smiled and grabbed her hand from his cheek and held it in his lap….. Shakti's eyes wandered to their tangled hands and she tried to pull back….. he held it more firmly, not meaning to let it go….. she tugged harder but failed….. she shot him a pleading look….. and he melted….. he unwound his fingers from hers and let it go…. she quickly moved it away from his lap and looked down….. she silently picked up her sandwich and nibbled it.

She looked at Shantanu.

Shakti- hey Shan….. do you want some Sandwich??

Shantanu- oh….. you have a sandwich?!!….. great….. yes please….. I'm very hungry….. gimme here.

Shakti laughed and shifted ahead in her seat and handed him the sandwich….. but since he was changing the gear, Shakti held it out to his mouth and he took a bite.

Amar's eyes shot fire.

Amar- kyun be?... thodi dair pehele hi toh tune Alisha ka poora dubba khatam kiya…. Fir bhi bhook lagi hai tujhe??

Shantanu grinned….. looked back over his shoulder at Shakti and winked….. Shakti laughed at him..

Amar held her arm and pulled her back in her seat….. she looked at him with confused eyes.

Amar- you eat…. He's already eaten.

He glared at Shantanu….. Shantanu chuckled.

Shakti shrugged and got back to her sandwich.

After she had finished with her snack….. Shantanu spoke up.

Shantanu- hey Shaks….. chalo now your turn to drive.

Shakti- ok cool…. Pull aside.

Amar- no

Shakti looked at him and frowned.

Shakti- why not?

Amar- because it's dark….. and it's not safe for you to drive.

Shakti- is it just your chauvinist opinion of all female drivers??... Or you are specifically talking about me??

She gave him a fierce look…. And he sighed.

Amar- I dint mean that….. your driving is fine….. but it's dark and I don't think it's safe to drive on the highway….. plus you would get tired.

Shakti- (angrily) I don't give a damn, what you think….. (at Shantanu) Shan, pull aside.

Shantanu- no Shaks, I think Amar is right.

She shot Shantanu a look.

Shakti- I don't believe you both….. typical men!!

Hearing the commotion, Sneha woke up.

Sneha- hey…. What's going on?

Shakti- nothing….. we are just around some pigs!!

Both Amar and Shantanu suppressed a chuckle at her expression…. She glared at them both.

Shakti- stop the car….. Sneha, I want you to come back….. let the Machos lead.

Sneha laughed but watching Shakti's expression she shut up and asked Shantanu to stop the car.

Amar and Sneha quockly switched places.

Amar looked back apologetically at Shakti….. but she crossed her arms, pouted her lips and looked straight ahead at the road.

He turned around and covered his mouth to hold back his smile….. She was so cute!!
