Part 28

Shakti noticed that Anjali and Amar had not joined them yet….. she quickly looked back….. he wasn't standing at his place…. And neither could she see Anjali anywhere….. she looked around, grazing the entire hall.….. but she couldn't spot them….. where did they vanish??!!

She stepped back trying to sneak out of the group to look for him.

Sneha- what?... kahan jaa rahi ho?

Shakti- I'll just be back.

Sneha- (confused) arre but abhi they will exchange the rings….. where are you going now?

Shakti- Mr. India ko dhundhne.

Sneha frowned and before she could stop Shakti….. she left.

She quickly scanned the room one last time….. she still dint see any of them….. she hurried out….. she stepped out in the hallway and stopped….. kahan jaaun?...... where should I start?... I don't even have my cell to call him….. he's such a jerk!!... bina bole aise chala jaata hai….. aur uparse woh Chipkali bhi nahi dikh rahi hai….. fine….. I'll check his room.

She turned to the left and suddenly bumped into a large muscular body.

Shakti- ouch!

She looked up and gazed in those ever tempting eyes…. he smiled.

Amar- hey!!….. easy babe….. kaun si train pakadne jaa rahi ho?

She opened her mouth to answer but her voice ditched her….. they was standing real close….. his arms around her waist trying to steady her from their collision….. their faces inches apart…. She gulped…. She tried to move back but he shoved her back to him….. his fingers grazed the counter of her bare lower back….. she shuddered…. Their eyes never leaving each other.

Amar- (hoarsely) did I mention how gorgeous you look tonight?

She mutely shook her head.

Amar- then let me tell you now. (whisper)

He leaned forward covering the gap between them….. her eyes slid shut….. he brushed his lips on her temple….. and very slowly stirred it lower to her brow….. he nuzzled closer and dipped his head lower to plant a kiss below her ear lobe….. inhaling the sweet flowery scent of her perfume.

Amar- Gosh!!!... you smell so good! (huskily)

She moaned and rolled back, silently offering him the vulnerable flesh of her throat….. her hands resting on his chest…. She gripped his coat to steady herself….. he continued to nibble on her neck….. she let out a silent whimper and guided her hands lower until they found the button on his suit coat….. she slowly unfastened it and gaped the blazer open….. she slipped her hands in and skimmed her fingers from his flat stomach to the muscular chest, crumpling the shirt underneath, in her fist….. he took in sharp breath and dipped his head further down, gently kissing the path till her collar….. his arm wiggling her narrow waist, yanking her close….. his hand gently caressing his way up….. leaving gooseflesh where his fingers stroked her bare back.

Amar- I told you, you'll come back to me. (whispered in her ear)

Shakti felt him toying with the dori of her blouse….. she gasped and stiffened….. hell!!!... what are we doing??!!... we are in the middle of a f**king hallway!!!... she willed herself to pull back.

Shakti (throatily) Kunwar….. stop!

He felt her hands on his chest trying to push him….. he sighed, let go of her and stepped back to get some space between them….. she moved back until she hit the wall behind her and she leaned on it, before her legs gave way….. they both were panting hard….. she looked down….. he watched her flushed cheeks and reached forward to trace it with his fingers….. she gulped, closed her eyes and turned her head away.

He quietly shoved his hands in his pockets.

He heard someone call him out.

He turned to look at Anjali hurrying to them.

Anajli- hey Kunwar…. kahan the?... kabse dhoondh rahi hun tumhain.

She looked at Shakti and back at Amar?... looking at both their flushed faces she frowned.

Anjali- everything ok?

Amar- hmm

He ranked his hand through his hair and cleared his throat.

Amar- why were you searching for me?

Anajli- ring ceremony start hone wali thi…. And I saw you leave….. I came behind to call you, but you disappeared.

Amar- haan woh, main Caterer se baat karne gaya tha….. I had to ask him to send the cake on the stage after the ring ceremony.

Anjali- oh.

She looked at Shakti and then back at Amar….. she watched his crumpled shirt below his jacket…. And her eyes narrowed.

Anjali- what's all this, Kunwar?... ache se shirt toh tuck in karte.

She stepped forward to straighten his shirt that was creased.

Amar flinched back and quickly put his coat button…. He turned to watch Shakti who was glaring at them….. he bit back a smile….. she swiftly looked away.

Anjali- chalo guys….. let's go back.

Shakti nodded and walked away….. still trying to get a control on her breathing.

He watched her retreating back….. the dori that he wasn't able to completely undo, dangling loosely….. he shut his eyes and silently groaned.

By the time he entered the hall….. Shakti and Anjali had already joined the group.

Archie- dude?... you ok?

Amar- hmm

Still his eyes refused to look anywhere but her.

Pankti and Vivek joined them.

Vivek- hey guys…. What are you'll doing here?... go rock that dance floor.

Everyone hooted.

Archie dragged him along with others to the floor….. he saw Alisha asking Shakti to join them, but she said she wanted to go easy with her ankle…… she glanced at him once before looking away.

Pankti- Shaks….. I miss you dancing yaa.

Shakti- (sad smile) ya me too... even though my ankle is much better now, I don't want to worsen it.

Pankti- ya true…. Oh by the way…. I saw you having something going on there with Yash. (wink)

Shakti rolled her eyes….. ya that was something!!... if only she could kick that jerk once….. like it was some cue for him, he appeared before them.

Yash- hi

Shakti politely smiled.

Yash- can I have the pleasure to dance with the dancing diva?

Shakti started to refuse, when Pankti butt in.

Pankti- yes please Yash…. get her on that dance floor.

Shakti darted her a look….. hadn't she just told her, she dint want to?

Pankti- (sigh) oh don't worry Shaks….. I'll ask the DJ to put on a slow number….. you don't have to move too much.

She leaned forward and whispered in Shakti's ear.

Pankti- and you have this hunk to hold onto….. so you don't worry about your leg. (wink)

Shakti tried to protest but Pankti hurried to the DJ….. Yash held out his hand and she hesitantly slid her hand in his.

The music changed and they joined others on stage….. everybody got in twos for the slow dance….. she looked over at Amar, who was watching her... she weakly smiled at him….. he quietly turned and left the dance floor….. Shakti frowned.

Amar went and stood as far away as possible….. he dint want to see her dance with someone else…. After a while, the song ended….. he looked over….. but they continued to dance for the next song too….. he saw the guy's arms lingering on her waist….. Amar's hands curled into tight fists and he wrapped his arms in front of him before he did something stupid.

He saw Yash lean towards her and whisper something in her ear….. her eyes widened with surprise…. Amar frowned wondering what did he tell her….. Shakti reached behind her back and felt the loose dori….. Amar realized that the guy had just told her about it….. Shakti shook her head at something else the guy said and it dawned upon Amar that Yash had just volunteered to help her tie the dori….. Ok that was enough!!!!... he walked up to the floor.

Amar- (at Yash) excuse me?... can is steal your dance partner for a while?

And before the guy could even reply….. he stepped in between them taking Shakti in his arms.

Shakti was surprised to see him….. she looked over at Yash, who's mouth was still hanging from the sudden turn of events….. she bit back a chuckle….. she owed it to Amar….. if she had to be with that moron for a second more, she would have thrown up.

She looked up at Amar….. and realized him being so close to him was not helping her to calm her nerves….. they silently swayed on beat of the music….. eyes locked.

Amar- I missed you.

She blushed and lowered her lashes.

Shakti- (whisper) I have to go.

Amar- why?

Shakti- I need to get something right.

Amar- and what is that?

She looked up and saw his twinkling eyes….. so he knows what I mean!!... she narrowed her eyes and moved back.

Shakti- Go to hell, Kunwar!!

She turned around and walked away….. she heard his soft chuckle….. Jerk!!... she walked to Alisha and asked her to accompany her to the washroom, to help her with the blouse.

Luckily for her, she never got a chance to be alone with him for the rest of the evening.
