Hola peoples!
How goes it?
So we like absolutely loved that response, and we loved the whole "Let's hate on Shyam movement" which was actually all of you, so yay. We're totally joining that btw. So this is our first installment, well second I guess, but the prolgue never seems to get included for some reason, it's obviously the one member of that family that everyone forgets about šŸ¤” poor baby.
Anywho, comment, like, and friend this account if you want a pm!

Chapter One: Gift of the Present

"Khushi get up."

"No," she mumbled sleepily. The covers were pulled away from her face, but she quickly grabbed at them, "Nooo..."

"Khushi it's your turn," he grumbled, shaking her lazily.

Pouting, she burrowed further into the covers, whoever came up with the turn system should be tarred and feathered! "Arnav please na," she whined, "I take care of him all day!" She flipped around, covering her head with the pillow.

"Khushi..."
Arnav groaned as he finally gave in. Grumbling he climbed out of the bed, sleepily making his way to the nursery. An hour later he stumbled back in, tiredness washing over him. He winced as his eyes fell on the clock which read five am. Somewhere in the next two hours he would have to get up and go to work, and Arnav had barely manged to catch two hours of sleep.

He sighed, it wasn't that he regretted having a kid, he regretted that the kid wouldn't grow up fast enough! He felt Khushi snuggling closer, 'lazybones,' he smiled as his arms found their way around her. Pulling her further into him, Arnav fell back into a blissful sleep.

"Arnav! Shut the alarm off and get up!"

"Khushi...I was up all night, thanks to you and Aman," he groaned back as he pulled her closer and buried his head in her neck.

"Hmm, but I'm not the one who has to get to work in an hour," she responded as she gave him a giant shove off the bed.

He emerged over the side glaring at his wife as he got up and trudged toward the bathroom, "I can't wait till you're off of maternity leave!" he shouted, slamming the door shut behind him.

Khushi smiled wickedly as she turned to fall asleep again.

She awoke feeling a peck on her cheek, she squinted her eyes open slowly to see Arnav smiling down at her. "I'm leaving," he whispered, running a finger along her cheek, "I'll call you later." Giving her another kiss he left, leaving her to settle back into her sweet world of dreams again.
She pulled the pillow closer as the soft click of the door closing resonated through the house.

Suddenly she was was very much awake in her tiredness . Groaning, Khushi climbed out of bed and headed towards the baby's nursery, wanting to check on him before she went out to the kitchen.

Aman Raizada slept peacefully sucking on his thumb. Khushi tsked at him as she gently pulled his thumb out of his mouth. They had been trying to get rid of the habit to no avail. She smiled at her little bundle of joy that looked so much like his father; his entry into their world had just made their lives more perfect, a fitting sequel to their fairytale, she couldn't ask for anything more.

She picked him up gently as his tiny eyelids fluttered open, a toothless grin emerged upon the sight of his mother. She grinned back at him as she cooed,"So baby's ready for some breakfast?" Placing a soft kiss on his cheek she giggled as he gurgled happily in response. The two set off to the kitchen, she wanted a cup of coffee and some breakfast, while he was ready for his milk.

She gasped in awe as she saw the table already set; a fresh bouquet of flowers sat beside her favorite mug, next to which sat a covered plate. Walking over she uncovered it to find it contained a stack of heart shaped pancakes. Arnav's really good with this time management thing, she mused. Setting Aman in his highchair she grabbed the note accompanying the flowers:

Can't stop the rain from falling down, oh

Can't stop the world from turnin' round, oh

Can't stop my heart from loving you

-Aaron Neville

Good morning sunshine,

Everyday with you is better than the one before.

As the saying goes,

"I love you today more than yesterday,

but less than tomorrow."

Yours,

-Arnav

"I knew I loved this man for a reason," she smiled seeing how much he had done, the breakfast, the cheesy note, it all seemed to good to be true. But it was true, and that made the whole shebang a whole lot better! Aman shouted out joyfully seeing his mother's smile. "See what daddy did," she asked the baby, who squealed in response, "He's a very nice daddy isn't he?" she laughed as she sat him down in his highchair.

"So how about we do something nice for daddy too, today? Hmm?" she questioned as she tried to feed Aman the baby food, thinking out loud and getting lost in another world. Aman knocked the spoon out of her hand, as he heard the phone ringing, bringing Khushi out of her thoughts and back to the present.

"You little nautanki...already beginning to trouble your mommy, " scolded Khushi, as she turned to pick up the phone next to her, quickly glancing at the caller ID. "It would be your daddy so early in the morning. You woke up Khushi? How's the baby? Did you guys eat?' I wonder how he gets any work done," she laughed to Aman, pressing the talk button,"He's always on the phone with us."

"Who's always on the phone with you?" questioned Arnav, the possessive curiosity in his voice evident.

"Mmm my boyfriend," she replied teasingly.

"Oh..." he replied, "well give him my regards."

"Will do sir," she chirped. "He wonders," she continued, "if you don't get bored calling every hour by the clock? It doesn't look like you ever do any work."

"Hmm...you should tell him that he would do the same if he was married to the beautiful but insane wife of mine who, coincidentally, is at home with my helplessly adorable little child," he replied, a grin apparent in his voice. "I don't see why I would ever even think about work," he joked, "Plus, I own the joint, not like I can get fired. By the way Ma'am...how was breakfast?"

"It was ok, nothing too amazing," she replied, acting uninterested. "You still haven't learned how to cook you know."

"Oh really?"

"Not at all," she continued with a teasing tenor, "So I decided to show you how."

"Oh?"

"Eight o'clock tonight?"

"Just you and me?"

"Of course not Mr. Raizada!" she exclaimed. "We have little Mr.Raizada too."

"Oh right, how could I possibly forget my darling son," Arnav whined. "Khushi, we never have any time together."

"Get used to it, Raizada. That's what happens when you have kids."

"Yeah..." he sighed dejectedly.

"But..." she drawled.

"Yea?" he asked excitedly, a small ray of hope flickering on hearing this word.

"I might be able to work something out for tonight."

"Please do try," he begged.

She laughed in response "Oooh. A desperate Mr. Raizada...this is lovely."

"Khushi!" Arnav groaned, "How can you possibly be enjoying my misery?"

"I don't know. It comes naturally!"

"Don't I have the best wife ever," he asked sardonically.

"Yes, actually you do." she replied cheekily. "Be thankful. Anyways Mr. Raizada, even though you seem to think you have all the time in the world to waste, I do believe you have these things called clients and workers. And they need a boss and a tyrannical leader, which is what you managed to become. So, Mr. CEO, go do your job!"

"Yes Boss!"
he answered obediently. Khushi turned off the phone, a smile on her face seeing which Aman clapped his hands joyfully.

A loud band came from the door as she headed towards the fridge, "KHUSHI!" a voice shouted. "BHABHI!" another voice yelled.

Aman giggled in delight as she rolled her eyes at him, "Your uncle and aunt seem to be making their entrance," she lamented, picking him up.

Payal and Akash, who lived right next door, had a key to Arnav and Khushi's house, and they made it a point to make full use of it, barging in at least once every day.

Payal stormed into the kitchen, a hand on her protruding stomach, "Khushi. Your brother-in-law is driving me INSANE! Can you please tell him to get off my back?!"

Khushi opened her mouth to speak, only to be interrupted by an equally annoyed Akash, "Bhabhi! She's not listening to me! I told her that she should be resting instead of constantly working around the house, but she keeps ignoring what I'm saying!" he defended himself.

Before Khushi could get another word in, she was interrupted yet again, "I'm pregnant Akash," Payal fumed, "not dying!"

"STOP! You guys are worse than little kids!" screamed an exasperated Khushi, looking at the couple. "Akash, she's pregnant. She can do almost anything and everything and she'll be fine. And Payal, that's how husbands are. You just get used to it. Where do you think Akash get's all this from? None other than my pati parmeshwar, AKA big brother Raizada, who drove me up the wall with his worry."

Payal nodded, calming down already as her mood changed. Akash stood by her, arms crossed defiantly, getting ready to defend the Raizada honor but Khushi cut him off before he could say a word, "Anyway, I was gonna call you guys."

"Why what's up?" Payal asked, heading for the fridge. Akash started to follow, but was stopped as Khushi grabbed his collar and dropped him into a chair.

"We needed a favor," Khushi continued, "could you watch Aman tonight?"

"Yeah sure," Payal replied, head stuck in the fridge, "what's the occasion?"

"Let me guess," Akash cut in, "return gift for this gift?" His eyebrows quirked naughtily as he held Arnav's note in his hands.

"Akash!" Khushi exclaimed, "that's private!"

"Not anymore," he replied defiantly. Standing up to his full height, he was easily able to hold the note out of reach. Khushi leaped at it angirly as Payal watched on, eating a piece of cake. Seeing his uncle and mom having so much fun Aman banged on his tray excitedly, squealing.

Akash finally handed over the note, choosing not to touch on the subject of the heart shaped pancakes. Promising to be home later so Aman could be dropped off, Akash and Payal left. Along with the rest of the cake.

Glancing up the at the clock, Khushi saw that it was already 7:30. Only thirty minutes left before Arnav gets home, she thought to herself. She had slaved away the entire afternoon, wanting to surprise her husband with his favorite foods for dinner. Well, she was trying to beat his little breakfast surprise. Aman had been dropped off at Akash and Payal's for the night after his bath, so all that was left was the final touches and then finally, a change of outfit.

She carefully arranged the dishes on the table; Arnav had taken a strange liking to Chinese food, so spring rolls, lo mein, fried rice, suan la tang (Hot & Sour Soup), and vegetable dumplings made up a majority of the menu. After giving the food a last look she took out the wine glasses and the bottle of champagne, adding a final touch by lighting a few candles to set in center of the table. Khushi wanted this to be an extra special evening for the two of them. They had barely had any time alone since Aman was born.

A while later, she was sitting in front of the dresser, putting on her bangles, earrings, and a bindi. Only when she was fixing her sari did she notice someone leaning on the doorway, watching her intently.

"Arnav?!"she turned around, a smile already emerging on her face. "When did you get home?" she asked, getting up.

"Hmm. Just in time to see this beautiful thing getting ready," he smiled back as he made his way towards her.

"Arnav..." she protested as he began backing her up with a feral glint in his eyes. "Why don't you go and change," she suggested, "then we can eat that dinner I made?"

"I would much rather spend my time with my wife," he responded as he grabbed her waist to pull her towards himself. Her hands instinctively clutched at his chest, running up to grasp his hair as his head descended towards hers.

"You look so beautiful tonight," Arnav mumbled,as he grazed his lips over hers. She smirked against his lips, "I would say the same, but I don't like to lie." He chuckled into her hair, "I get it, I'll go change." He pulled back, "five minutes, promise." He grabbed her again; giving her another, more invading, kiss before dashing to the bathroom.

He was back before the five minutes ended, grabbing her from behind he swung her around. She squealed in surprise, "Arnav put me down!"
Obliging her, he put her down near their bedroom wall, pushing her against it as he buried his face in her long tresses, nuzzling her hidden neck. She turned around in his arms, looking him up and down as he turned his attention to her shoulders. She simpered as she saw he had foregone a shirt, dressing only in tracks, "Now you're looking handsome Mr. Raizada," she whispered into his ear. He looked up and dropped a kiss on her nose; "Thank you Mrs. Raizada," he said, his voice muffled as he continued littering kisses on her.

She thrust him away, "Dinner Mr. Raizada" she said sternly, heading towards the door.
"I think we should start with dessert..." he said pulling her back.

"Arnav!"

"Khushi."

"Arnavvv..."

Needless to say, dinner went cold that night.
