2003, Mumbai
Manpreet (22 yr old has done hotel management course) was searching for someone, she had a box in her hand which she were carefully handling, she saw a bunch of students coming in her direction
MP: hey have you seen him
Boy1: yes
MP: where
Boy2: the same place
MP: what is he doing there?
Boy1: may be relishing the feel for the last time
MP: um, he surely will miss the college
Boy2: and we will miss him
MP: yes you all will
Boy1: I heard Yash married Myra
MP: yes (not liking the idea of her twin marrying his classmate in haste)
Boy2: why did he do so? I mean they should have waited for their parents consent
MP: yes, but you know how stupid Myra is
Boy1: I hope Yash gets the strength to withstand her
Boy2: IDK why he fell for her?
MP: same here, I too not able to understand
Boy1: BTW do you know she had a crush on your man
MP: yes, may be that's why she married Yash to prove she has the charm
Boy2: you know
MP: yes
Boy1: then why did you let them get married
MP: by the time I realized my foolish twin was head over heels in love with her
Boy2: poor soul, may be after marriage she keeps him happy
MP: she will, she otherwise is a nice girl, ok me off to meet my man (winked)
Boy1, Boy2: bye
He was sitting on the steps of the stadium tightening the strings of his guitar. She looked at him and slowly stepped down and called,
MP: MAAN!
M: Manpreet what are you doing here?
MP: Happy birthday Maan
M: oh, thank you
MP: see I have baked a cake for you
M: that's sweet
MP: you are missing Yash
M: um
MP: its ok you will soon join him at Michigan
M: I am not going
MP: why?
M: you know why
MP: because he married Myra
M: yes
MP: are you afraid for her?
M: no, but I don't want to be a source of his grief
MP: forget about them, here cut it
He cuts the cake and feeds Manpreet
MP: you know your family is hunting from you since morning
M: I know
MP: your Maa has told me to bring you to the mansion on time.
M: I were waiting for you
MP: oh (laughs)
They both leave for KM
Maan Khurana (22 yrs old) and Manpreet Bakshi have been friends since always; they have known each other for almost whole of their lives. Yash, Manpreet's twin is Maan's best friend.
Both boys have just completed their architecture degree along with Myra.
Myra had a crush on Maan but when Maan paid no attention and Myra saw him hanging with Manpreet she decided to date Yash so that she may remain close to Maan, later Yash fell for her and she forced him to marry her before leaving for Michigan. And she is still thinking that Maan will join them for the master's course.
Maan is an heir of Khurana Group, they have hotels, resorts, food chains, restaurants etc, and they are number 1 in hospitality industry. Khurana's is a big family with Pratham and Prabha being Maan's parents, Savitri Devi his Daadi and Vikram and Abhay his siblings.
He has two uncles, 3 aunts and 15 cousins.
At KM
Maan comes in dropping Manpreet to her Mansion as she wants to get ready for the party that is held at night, Savitri sees him
DM: Maan
M: yes Daadi Maa
DM: Happy birthday beta
M: thanks DM
DM: Maan I want to ask you something
M: yes
DM: come sit
M: yes DM
DM: Manpreet is your good friend
M: yes
DM: have you thought about marriage?
M: no
DM: do you love someone?
M: not yet
DM: how about arranged marriage?
M: as you wish
DM: will Manpreet do?
M: ask her, I have no problem
DM: ok will talk to her mother
M: fine
DM: if she agrees, shall I announce the engagement today
M: will they agree? I mean the way Yash eloped with Myra
DM: he is immature, he should have asked, they won't have disagreed
M: I know, I told him to ask, but
DM: what is done is done, now Bakshi's don't want to repeat
M: (smiles): oh that's why this engagement (laughs) its ok DM where will I get a better girl, I have known her almost all my life
DM: good.
In the evening Maan Manpreet engagement was announced, all were very happy.
