PART SIX

FOUR YEARS LATER

In Mumbai

Khushi returned home to the sounds of fighting and she immediately went to the room from where the sounds were coming. Two small girls were shouting and screaming while a patient Payal was taking care of them. Khushi went and took one of them in her hands leaving the other angry. She looked at the girl in her arms. Niraja and Nirjara were her daughters and needless to say their father was Arnav Singh Raizada. When Khushi left his house that afternoon she did want him to feel bad for a moment of weakness which was equally her fault.

She did not blame him neither did she blame herself. The entire family left for Lucknow and leaving their parents and buaji there the sisters left for Mumbai where with the help of Lavanya Khushi and Payal got a job, a house to stay and also enough money to support themselves while they read part time too until the day she discovered she was pregnant. Khushi wanted to keep the baby as she finally understood that her Dhak Dhak and acidity were not what she inferred them to be but love for the one man she hated the most. Then she gave birth to the two little angels. Niraja was a striking image of her mother. The porcelain skin, the hazel eyes and her smile everything was Khushi while Nirjara was Anjali's replica. She had taken after her Bua entirely but her mannerisms were entirely her father's. After the girls were born Payal left her job to take care of them and by then they had got their shop back and their father was also alright. So in Lucknow his father ran the sweet shop like before and Money was not a problem now for them.

Now holding a piece of him in her hands was much better for her. She looked at Niraja in her hands and asked her, "What happened. Why are you troubling badi maa?"

The little girl with big eyes like Khushi showed the one on the bed while the other pointed the other and Khushi started consoling them and playing with them. They got ready and decided to go to the nearby park for their evening stroll. Khushi took the pram of Nirjara and Payal that of Niraja. They then played in the park for some time when both the girls asked their mother for balloons and Khushi left them with Payal to get some. When she crossed the road looking at the girls, she did not notice the white SUV that came at break-neck speed and braked near her. The driver came out shouting, "Do not you have eyes? Where are you looking at? Probably at your Boyfriend or someone you want to trap for money?" Khushi shocked by the near accident was even more shocked by the voice of the person shouting at her and Payal having witnessed the near accident came running with the two girls. Niraja jumped from Payal to her mother and asked her, "Mama Mama."

While Payal enquired Khushi if she was alright Khushi stared at the person in front of her while he looked into her eyes. Arnav was shocked to see Khushi after four long years. He has been searching for her for all these years and finally found her here. He then finally diverted his eyes from Khushi and looked at Payal and the two girls and looked at Khushi's and Payal's neck and forehead. They were both empty and he was confused regarding the children. But when he saw Nirjara he did not think twice and knew they were his children. Nirjara was exactly like his Di was in childhood.

Arnav then told them he will drop them in their house and Khushi and Payal exchanged looks and they got in the car with the two girls who kept looking at the stranger with wide eyes. Khushi sat in the back seat with the two girls while sat front to show him the route. Khushi played the two girls lovingly and cleared their questions with a smile. When they reached their apartment Arnav was surprised to the core. It was a considerably expensive apartment with three rooms and then only he noted that Khushi and Payal's dresses and there were no Poms poms and they had class now. While Payal asked him to sit and went to get him tea Khushi took the girls to their nursery and changed their clothes and fed them food. Arnav all the while watched the three with curiosity and he felt left out in the family for it was his lover and children. When she had made them sleep Khushi came to talk to him while Payal discreetly left for her room. Arnav turned to notice that she looked even more beautiful now due to her motherhood and he asked," Why did you leave Khushi? Why did you not inform me? Why? I have missed four years in my children's life."

Khushi replied," I did not want to take advantage for a moment's weakness. So I left and I thought it will not make any difference in your life."

Arnav became angry and held her shoulders and brought her closer and said, "Moment's weakness. No Khushi when all these four years I just thought about that single incident repeatedly. You thought it was a moment's weakness when I foolishly believed that you would understand my love even without words. Moment's Weakness."

Khushi who by now had tears in her eyes said," What do you expect me to think when all you did was push me away. And say that I hold no importance in your life. Huh tell me."

Arnav hugged her tight and said," Whatever I am taking you and my daughters back to where you belong."
