PART 7

Three months. Three months to turn her life around, Khushi thought. Three months to change her life completely. Initially it was the marriage with him. Those three months had been hell for her. Pretending to be happy in front of the family, accepting taunts from her husband, escaping the schemes of the snake until the fateful day after which she ran away notwithstanding the insult that her husband had done to her. The insult which broke her heart to pieces destroying it forever.

Then another three months for her to recuperate, to get a grip on life once again, to gather herself together. Those three months had been hell too. She had understood herself totally only then realizing her love for one man who would never reciprocate it. She had accepted the truth and was living a life like a sunflower without the sun. Then the news of her impending pregnancy caused some happiness to her.

Then came these three months. These three months disturbed her and made her yearn for things which will always be distant to her. The love of her husband. His concern for his pregnant wife. Like all women she had also dreamt of these things before and the reality disturbed her peace of mind. His behaviour confused her. True was the fact that he helped her and was concerned for her health. But Khushi could not understand whether it was guilt or love for her.

The day Lavanya had returned was awkward for both Arnav and Khushi. She now had to return to the room where she was mercilessly made to face humiliation in the hands of her husband. She had arrived late to the room and had spent the night at the poolside resulting in her getting a cold which then lead to a fever. She had suffered for almost a week and Arnav understanding her decided to change the interiors of his room knowing she was haunted by those torturous memories he had inflicted on her.

So he had completely redesigned the room. The once black and white room was colourful now. It had shades of red, green and brown adorning its wall. Arnav did it as a symbol for the colours she brought to his black and white life. The bed's position was changed. Instead of facing the pool now it was parallel to the pool. The wardrobe was exchanged for a bigger one to accommodate his clothes as well as hers. The one thing that surprised Khushi was that Arnav consulted her or every decision be it regarding the room or be it family affairs. Her arrogant husband who once proclaimed his pride and ego as the things that made him was nowhere in sight. She now saw a polite tender version of him which was earlier shades to his complex character but now predominant. He also hung stars above their bed. He even saw to that that the power in their room never went. Owing to her fear of darkness, he had an extra inverter set up especially for their room much to the dismay of Mami. He also planted red roses in his garden and when asked he said the excuse of it being his Di's favourites.

One week after the arrival of Khushi in Raizada Mansion it was diagnosed that Anjali was pregnant too. While Arnav wanted his Di to undergo abortion, Anjali had been stubborn in keeping the child and strangely Khushi too supported Anjali. Khushi supported her because not long ago she too suffered from the same position of having a baby without a husband. She could totally comprehend Anjali's predicament and supported her fully. Arnav finally conceded thinking his Di needed a grip in life.

The Raizada house was almost back to its initial happiness. Khushi and Anjali were pampered by Mami, Nani, Payal and Lavanya. The ladies went together or baby shopping. Khushi's baby bump was visible now. They had champi sessions. They discussed names. Anjali and Khushi made sweaters and jumpers for the baby. There remained a peace in the hearts of everyone.

Except one. Arnav Singh Raizada has never been a man of words. He had always been poor at expressing his feelings. He had no idea to approach his wife. It has taken three weeks for his wife not to shrink away from his touch. She was afraid of him and every time she moved away from him he felt his heart pricking him. He had to reassure her that he would not do that blunder againand had almost apologised on that day had it not been for his loss o words. So he decided to show his love through actions.

He took care of her, made her comfortable. He took her and his Di for their evening walks. Took them up for their checkups. Bought her favourite dishes which always was jalebies or flowers almost every evening. What he did not know was that his wife was thinking he did everything for his DI.
