Part 22

Maan opened front door of car. placed Mannat on seat …put her belt… n he himself sat on driver seat.

Mannat was happy… too too happy…A sudden smile came on miser Maan…always kanjoos for a smile on his face.

Mannat: Papa hum Milano Pizza stop jauegay..?

Maan: u know that ….? ( he was amazed she knew name of that famous pizza shop ?)

Mannat: I know papa..hum Dev Uncle k sath.…aur Daddi Maa k sath three times aaye hai..aur Nandini Aunty kahti hai..this shop has best pizza.( she disclosed)

Maan: ok ..as u wish ( he started car n moved toward place she liked )

Maan was obeying her as she was chief n He was her worker..But no frustration was on his face.She had pizza ..she had ice cream n even she forced Maan to eat .what she wanted…Maan didn't lik chocolate ice cream but for Mannat's happiness he had…

Maan: ok now ur treat is over we should go now ( he took her up in his arms )

Mannat: No papa..u asked to go to toy shop…( she placed her lil hand on his cheek )

The warmth of her lil hand….the touch of that soft skin..some where went deep in the Maan's heart..in his soul.He jst looked n looked at her face..without a blink .

Mannat: Papa..( Mannat again rubbed her hand on his hard trimmed beard.

Maan : Ha beta ( first time he said this word….when Mannat's voice n touch brought back him to reality )

Mannat: Lets go Papa.

Maan: ok ( he said softly )

They were in supermarket n best shop fo kids accessories. She was too happy holding Maan's finger within her tiny fist she pulled Maan.There was a soft toy looked lik baby boy .She took her n smiled .Maan was closely observing her..her every activity .

Mannat: Papa it looks lik Arya Na …( without lookin at Maan Mannat said)

Maan: really ( he had lil smile )

Mannat:Ya…He is my brother…na..he is not here ..I miss him a lot…Papa (her tears came on cheeks )

Maan:Mannat don't cry…u really loved ur brother ..n take this when Arya came back giv it to him ..dogi na ( he went on his knees n wiped her tears )

Mannat: Hum le lay isko ….Arya k liye ( she had hop in her eyes …)

Maan: Ha le lo..n take what ever u want…jitney toys lene hai le lo…( he rolled her arms around Mannat .

Maanat's sadness was away..as lik every child..who is happy….who smiles..who laughs ..who is spoiled ….She has that lif now what she deserved….due to Maan..but She had no Maan in her life..coz Maan never wanted this…some where those boundaries were going to be crossed …but bit by bit

She took so many toys ..throwing in trolley..she was moving here n there…some showing to Maan n some by herself. Maan was observing this lil creature..his replica..what she wanted from him nothing…jst lov…till now he was not able to give it to her.

Suddenly Maan's phone buzzed.Addi was on phone.Mannat was busy with dolls ..confused to decide which to take..so until she decided Maan took phone..He moved lil bit away…as a habit..to walk when talk….But when he again came to that place Mannat was missin.

Maan: where is She…Mannat…Mannat ( he was giving calls to her..but she was no where )

Till then whole staff gathered at a place

Supervisor : What happened Sir ?

Maan: where is my daughter She was here few minutes back..I jst took a call n she is missin in between this ( he put his one hand on waist n other on head)

Supervisor : Sir she ll b here ..challo sabhi dhundo (he ordered every one )

Maan: Kahan hai Mannat usko kuch ho gaya to ( he thought ) no no ..

But she was no where in shop..so staff made announcement in Super Market..that any body if find such girl ..took her here in this shop.even he called police ...mailed her snap to commissioner…

Maan gav staff his number…n moved out for her hunt.even after half hour she was missin.Hope less Maan sat on stairs placing his head on stair support..near to toy shop .He had tears.

When he heard a voice...Papa...Maan got up with a jerk ..His tiny bundle was behind him.Mannat ...tears in her eyes…one of toy shop staff holding her in lap.Maan took her in his arms with in moments ...holding her tightly he closed eyes…tears ran down from his eyes He said not a single word

Staff: Sir apki beti lift main ground floor tak chali gayi thi..ro rahi thi jab …security ko patta challa to announcemet k according hamare pass le aaye.main apko phone karne he walla tha to apko yahan dekha..yeh lijye apni beti.

Maan cam back to senses.But Mannat was still crying..sobbing ...hiding her face in his chest.rolling arms arund his neck .

Maan: thax very much ..aap nahi jante apne kitna badda ahsaan kiya hai mujh per…( he took his wallet n gav what ever he had in his wallet…)

Staff: sir no no ..this is out duty…I don't need money for this..I also hav a daughter..n I can understand ..(but Maan insisted him n he took giving lots of blessing to him n her)

He sat on stair as such..

Maan: Mannat where was u ? u know how much I was scared ( He rubbed his chin on her forehead holding her tightly )

But she said nothing…

Mannat was still sobbing

Maan: Mannat kya hua …kyo gayi thi tum ( he took her face in his hands )

Mannat: Papa…Mannat ko darr lag rahha hai ….( she again hugged him tightly )

Maan: no Mannat ..I m here ...aur mere hotay hue …tum ko dar nahi lag sakta…but why u left this shop ( he stroked her back n Mannat knew If Maan said this she is safe )

So she looked in his eyes….

Mannat: Papa Aap ro rahhe ho….appko Mannat ne rulla diya...( she wiped his tears )

Maan: Nahi apne humko nahi rulaya…main he apkse dur ho gaya…I m sorry ( n her kissed her hand ) But where was u

Maanat: Papa humko dolls acchi nahi laggi ..aur jo Mannat ko leni thi woh yahan aunty aur baby le gayi…Hum to unse yeh kehne gaye thay..gav that u me ….hamare Papa unko pay ke daygay….Per woh lift main chali gayi ( she made face )

Maan: Fir aap bhi unki lift main challi gayi ?

Mannat: Nahi Papa unki lift to challi gayi fir humko dusri lift main janna pada..per woh humko fir bhi nahi milli.

Maan: Maannt sirf ek doll k liye…aap …aap mujhe keh detti hum dusri shop per dekhtay…aur usse bhi acchi doll lete…agar tum kahi kho jatti …tumko kuch ho jatta to ..( he had tears )

Mannat: No Papa…Mannat k pass " Mere Papa Maan' hai na ..aap humko apne pass le aate

Maan smiled on her faith ….for him…How this girl trust on him..but what he was doing…He hugged her tightly…

Maan took her in arms n Paid for all stuff Mannat had collected..by CC….n moved toward KM ..but this incident helped to lessen gap between Maan n Mannat.

Daddi was waitin for them.Comissioner called her as Maan's phone was busy.Even after knowing from him ..Daddi called Maan but again phone was busy …but when She called Addi ..Addi told her that Mannat was with Maan now n they were coming home

Daddi Maa: Maan beta kab se apka phone lagga rahhe hai….kya hua tha

Daddi Maa was too angry .

Maan : Daddi Maa woh Mannat gum gayi thi….

Daddi Maan: Pretto Mannat ko le room me le jayo or change kar do …( she kissed Mannat n called Preeto coz she wanted to talk ..but not in her presence)

After she left.

Daddi Maa: Maan I never expected this from u..I know u hate her..but up to this limit I can't expect….agar care nahi karni thi why u took her out ?( she was too hyper )

Maan: No Daddi Maa ….I don't hate her….but ya this is my fault…coz I heard phone…n within few minutes all happened ( n he told every thing to Daddi )

Daddi Maa: humko to commissioner se patta challa ..u called him..but when he made back call to u ..ur phone was buzy n he called me.But I was not aware.

Maan: Daddi Maan pehle Addi se baat kar rahha tha n after security chief of SM..

Daddi Maa: Ya I called him…he told me Mannat mil gayi hai

Maan: Ji maine phone kiya tha Addi ko I was so scared n shocked …only Addi is that one to whom I can share …apko tension ho jatti

Daddi Maa: beta tension nahi hogi to kyo nahi ….Manno ja nahi..per yeh sach hai …Mannat is our child…jst lik Arya..n she has all rites a Khuraana has….

Maan:I know Daddi..pr main issi kashmkash main hu kaise niklu isse se..

Daddi Maa : it is up to u beta…u hav all answers jst think …..n ask ur mind n heart…

N she left
