Take It Easy
She sits in her seat on the plane. Riddhima takes a deep breath and lets it out. This the first time she is riding in a plane alone. Usually she would be with her family or her friends. Riddhima is going back home because she is on break from college and her parent's want her to come home for the break. Her best friend that she goes to college with went home to her parent's, so the possibilities of riding on the same plane was impossible because their parent's live in different cities. The two cities are quite far away from each other.
Riddhima turns her head to see the person that is going to be sitting next to her through the plane ride. She didn't want someone who would be annoying and won't even let her sit in peace. Riddhima is already nervous about the ride and she doesn't need more nervousness. It was a guy whose seat was next to the window. He looked like a normal, decent guy and knows that he won't annoy her. If he did want to annoy her, he would've done it by now. Riddhima didn't mind having a window seat or an aisle seat. All she wants is to get home safely. Riddhima turns her head back to the front and takes another deep breath.
"Take it easy. It's not going to be bad," said the male voice voice next to her. Riddhima was confused at first of where the voice was coming from. Then she realized the person next to her. She looks at him with her eyes narrowed. "Your afraid." Riddhima noticed the corner of his lip curve up slightly. He was making fun of her.
"I am not scared," Riddhima said sternly, glaring at the guy.
"I never said scared. I said afraid," he replied smartly. Riddhima rolls her eyes and turns her head the other way. The thing she didn't want, she got it. An annoying person sitting next to her. She was wrong about him being decent. Riddhima looks around to find any vacant seat, but all were filled. It was also holiday time, so many people are traveling.
"Please fasten your seat belts. We'll be taking off soon," the female voice from the speakers said. This made Riddhima more nervous.
Riddhima fastens her seat belt as fast as she can. The guy who was doing it calmly, chuckles on seeing Riddhima in a hurry. He sees that Riddhima can't get fasten her seat belt. He sighs and and buckles the seat belt for her. Riddhima looks up at him and his gray-blue eyes catch her attention. They were the most beautiful eyes that Riddhima has ever seen. They were filled with brightness. Her eyes moved down towards his pointed nose, then two his lips which curved up into a smirk.
"I know...I'm hot. But, stop checking me out or people will think that you are ready to pounce on me," he said in a husky voice. Riddhima feels her breath get hitched in her throat on hearing his husky voice. After a few moments, she realizes what he said and moves her head away from. He laughs as his head tilts back. Riddhima scoffs and keeps her head turned the other way.
It's been an hour since the plane ride has started and will reach in another two hours. Sighing, Riddhima looks around because she was bored out of her mind. Since she is alone on the plane ride, she didn't feel sleepy. Riddhima would fall asleep if she knew someone that is sitting next to her, but otherwise she can't. She looks at the guy who surprisingly hasn't spoke in a while. He had his earphones plugged into his ear and listening to his iPod.
An air hostess comes and stands there with a smile. He turns his head and pulls out his earphones and smiles at the air hostess. Riddhima noticed this and looks at them in disgust. They didn't even know each other and were looking at each other as if they were ready to take each others clothes off. Riddhima shudders at the thought of that.
"Would you like anything?" the air hostess asked, looking at the guy.
"A coke would be nice," he replies in a flirtatious voice. Riddhima looks at him then back up at the air hostess. The air hostess nods and walks away. Riddhima's jaw drops open. The air hostess didn't ask what Riddhima wanted. Riddhima looks at the guy and glares at him. He couldn't help but laugh at Riddhima.
"It is not funny," Riddhima said with her voice in a low dangerous voice. He stops laughing and stares at Riddhima, pressing his lips to prevent him from laughing. "Just laugh already!" He starts laughing again that tears started coming out of his eyes. Riddhima frowns and crosses her arms across her chest. She closes her eyes and relaxes.
"By the way my name is Akash," he said. Riddhima looks at him then nods. She turns her face back towards the front. "And your name is?"
"Riddhima," Riddhima says plainly not looking at him. He wanted to laugh so badly, but suppresses it. He shakes his head and looks back out the window.
Riddhima wakes up and gasps realizing she fell asleep. That was a first, she looks over to find the seat empty. Riddhima was glad that he wasn't their so she looks out the window, watching the white clouds and the small places underneath. Riddhima hears giggling and looks up and sticks her head out slightly into the aisle. She sees the air hostess that had came over to them a while ago and...the guy sitting next to her behind! Riddhima's jaw drops on seeing their condition. Her blouse was messed up and her skirt had risen up. The guy, half of his shirt's buttons were undone and his hair was a mess. Riddhima makes a disgusted face and closes her mouth because she felt that she was going to puke.
Walking behind the air hostess that he just made out with at the air hostess seat behind the curtains, which hid them from everyone else, he sees Riddhima looking at them with a disgusted face. He smirks and takes his seat next to her. Riddhima scoots away, closer to the aisle. She did not want to be near him. He was a Greek God, but knowing that he is a player made her hate him. If he was sweet and a Greek God she would've made out with him by now.
"Where were you?" Riddhima asks out of curiosity. She knew what he was doing, but where. The bathroom is not big enough because he can't even fit in it. He was too tall and muscular that you could hide in his embrace. Riddhima's eyes were on his chest and abs that were peeping out of his unbuttoned shirt. He snaps his fingers in front of Riddhima's eyes.
"My face is up here," he said. Riddhima looks up at his face and gulps. She felt a desire fill inside her so she looks away from him. "Why do you want to know where I was? Last I remember I barely know you." Riddhima looks at him with just innocent wide eyes then turns her head away, again. He looks at her with strange look and looks back out the window. That was a quick change in mood.
The plane lands and everyone moves out of the plane to the airport. Riddhima looks around to see if she can find any of her family members, but no luck. She goes to the conveyor belt where she can get her luggage. Riddhima looks up to see the same guy from the plane looking for his luggage. He looks up and sees Riddhima. He smirks and winks at her. Riddhima rolls her eye and looks away. She was tempted to look back and she did. He was still staring at her with that same smirk on his lips. He gives her an air kiss and Riddhima looks around to see if anyone noticed, or worse if her parent's saw that. He chuckles and shakes his head and sees his luggage. He grabs his luggage and walks away. Riddhima looks back to not find him there anymore. She looks around to see him talking to that same air hostess. He puts his arm around the air hostess and walks away. Riddhima shakes her head with a disgusted look.
"Mama! Papa! Di!" Riddhima exclaims and runs over to her family and gives them a hug. "I missed you so much!"
"We missed you too bacha!" her dad said, hugging her. "Ab tum apni padayi yahan kyun nai khatam karti?"
"Papa, please. Main iss year graduate ho rahi ho. Phir main yahin to aao gi," Riddhima said with a smile. All three of them look at each other then nod and smile at Riddhima. "Ghar chale?"
"Haan chalo," Shashank said. He takes Riddhima luggage and walks out. Padma, Anjali, and Riddhima follow behind him, talking.
All of them walk in the house. Riddhima smiles looking around her home. It's been such a long time since she has come. Remembering all her memories that she spent in this house, Riddhima walks around the house. She runs to the kitchen to find her favorite cookies that Padma always makes for her. Riddhima frown on not finding her favorite cookies.
"Kya dhund rahi ho?" Padma asks with a grin. Riddhima looks at her mom.
"Ma aap ne mere pasand ke cookies nai banaye?" Riddhima asks, innocently. Padma laughs and takes out the cookies. Riddhima gasps and takes a cookie and takes a bite. "Yummy! Thank you mama!" Riddhima kisses Padma's cheek and runs out.
"Di! Di!" Riddhima yells. Anjali sees Riddhima running towards her. Riddhima jumps on top of Anjali who was sitting on the couch.
"Riddhima!" Anjali screams. Riddhima starts tickling Anjali and Anjali starts laughing. Anjali, finally finds a chance to tickle Riddhima. Both of them were in a tickle fight while their parent's watched them with a loving smile.
"Di, main aap ke liye kuch lekar aayi hoon." Riddhima sits down on the floor and opens her suitcase. She takes out a big shopping bag. Anjali opens it to find a golden handbag.
Anjali gasps and hugs Riddhima. "Thank you so much Ridzi!" Anjali kisses Riddhima's cheek and Riddhima giggles. Riddhima takes out a perfume set for Padma and shirt for Shashank.
"Riddhima, flight kaise thi?" Shashank asks. All of them were settle for lunch.
Riddhima remembers the guy from the plane and smiles, but remembers what he was doing with the air hostess and makes a disgusted. She decides on not telling her family about the guy that sat next to her. She hated him so much that she didn't even want to take his name. "Achi thi Papa."
"I'm surprised ke tum plane pe akeli aayi," Anjali said, taking a bite of her food. Riddhima sticks out her tongue to Anjali and Anjali does the same.
"Anjali, ab Riddhima badi ho gayi hai. Samajh dar ho gayi hai." Padma said, defending Riddhima. Anjali nods in agreement. Padma looks at Shashank and sees him a bit worried and knew very well why. Shashank looks at Padma, helpless. Padma nods in assurance. Anjali noticed the silent interaction between her parent's and knew what they were gesturing each other about. All three of them look towards Riddhima worriedly. They didn't know how Riddhima will take it once she finds out.
"Hey Mom, Dad!" he said, seeing his parent's at the airport. A lady in her late forties and a man in his late fifties walk up to him.
"How are bete?" Billy asks his son. Armaan looks at his dad and nods.
"I'm find Dad," he replies.
"Plane ka safar theek toh tha?" Ananya asks her son.
"Yes, Mom. Sab kuch theek tha," Armaan said, assuring his parent's. "Ab chale? Main thak gaya hoon." All of them leave the airport and drive to the hotel they are staying at for the time being while being in the city.
Armaan wakes up after having a nap of three of hours. In the flight he didn't have time to sleep. He smirks, remembering what he did in the plane and gets out of bed. Opening the door of the bathroom, he turns on the light.
"Boo!" came two voices, scaring the crap out of Armaan. Armaan screams and sees his two, crazy best friends laughing at him. Armaan sighs with his hand over his heart to calm the fast beating down.
"You idiots!" Armaan yells and chases after them.
"Aunty bachaye hume!" screams one of them.
"Uncle!" the other one screams. Armaan goes over to the guy who is hiding behind his mom.
"Bahar nikal tu!" When no one came from behind Ananya, Armaan said, "Rahul, nikal bahar!" Rahul walks out from behind Ananya with a sheepish smile. Armaan grabs Rahul's neck in his arm and starts choking him.
"Abbe sorry yaar. Itne dino ke baad tujhe dekh raha hoon," Rahul tries to explain himself while getting out of the death grip Armaan had on his neck.
"Agli baar kiya toh sach main tera moo tod doga," Armaan said, letting go of Rahul's neck. "Waise Atul kahan chup ke baitha hai." Both of them laugh and walk over to Billy. Billy looks at them with a 'help' look. Armaan laughs and nods. "Atul, bahar aa jao. Main kuch nai karoga."
"Sach?" the guy said from behind Billy. He wanted to confirm it before coming out and seeing a furious Armaan ready to kill him.
"Sach," Armaan assures. Atul sighs in relief and walks out from behind Billy.
"Armaan!" Atul walks over and hugs Armaan. Armaan shakes his head at his friend and hugs him. "Kaisa hai tu?"
"I'm good man. Aur tu?" Armaan asks. All three of them settle down on the couch and start talking to each other and reminisce about the old times.
Billy and Ananya look at each other than at Armaan. Many things have changed since the last few years. Lifestyles and love for the people have changed along with the relationships being difficult or just gone. Also, there is love and with the love there is disappointment and anger. Some want to be forgiven and will do anything to earn the forgiveness from the people that are most important in their lives.
Armaan could see his parent's looking at him from the corner of his eyes. He knew they were still angry and disappointed at him for what he had done, but he is ready to do anything to earn their forgiveness. Armaan looks down in his lap with a guilty expression because of being a bad son, but he doesn't regret what he did few years ago. Armaan doesn't want to do what he has to, but to able to get the same love and affection from his parent's back; he's ready to do it. That's the reason he came here all the way from home.
"Theek hai yaar phir milte hain. Hume bhi ab jaana hai," Rahul said, standing up. Armaan and Atul stood up too.
"Okay yaar." Armaan gives Rahul and Atul a hug and walks them to the door. Armaan closes the door and walks to the room that he is going to be sleeping for the night.
"Armaan, kal hum unke ghar jayenge for lunch," Billy said, eating his food. Armaan, Billy, and Ananya have come to a restaurant for dinner.
Armaan nods. "Alright."
"Aur phir aisi galati nai hogi," Billy said. Armaan stops eating and looks at his dad with anger in his eyes.
"Maine kitni dafa aap logo se maafi maangi lekin mujhe koi afsoos nai jo maine kiya hai," Armaan said, angrily. "Aap dono ko mujhe maaf karne ke liye main yeh sab kuch kar raha hoon. Agar mujhe aap dono ki fikar nai hoti toh main yeh kabhi nai karta. Main ab tak aap dono ko chod kar chala jaata. Lekin nai. Main abhi tak yahin aap dono ke saath." Billy was about to say that, but Ananya puts her hand on Billy's hand to stop him.
Billy sighs. "Baara (12) baje tayar rehna." They ate their dinner in silence.
