Also strange is the expectation that somehow God's answers will be elemental, unknown and not thought of before..

There is no divine truth that is unknown to man, .. its making it personal and relevant to our one miniscule life span that gives it all the hype.

I imagine I ask HIM a question and he just indulgently raises an eyebrow amused .. I look at the rest of the class and am hit with knowing smiles mocking 'really ! thats what you asked HIM ! ', and HE'll say smiling ' let this silly child be.'

(of course for the theory that theres a 'God' God) ;)

Are you sure you want to know. May be there are certain things better off as they are.

How can you be absolutely certain that there is no divine truth unknown to man? [Assuming that such a thing as a 'divine truth' exists]

The universe seems to work in mysterious ways, we are all but a infinitely small part of that whole. Are we not?

So is the author a character in the story or the character the author of this story?

Do you hear a voice when you close your eyes?

It's said, change is the only constant. So how can that be?

Waiting for the next part.

Hey Artemis
I know this was not directed at me but I could not resist, so apologies for butting in.
Assuming that truth can be called as "divine", it exists deep inside the conscious. You asked the author if she hears a voice when she closes her eyes. That voice guides us to the core, from which we are to extract the "truth". It knows the past and the future at all times. It asks us all the time if we want to know. We respond with doubt and fear and it retreats, leaving us in darkness all over again.
The universe works in mysterious ways. It also works on amazingly simple principles which are uniform from the the smallest element to the largest of miracles. This is what I believe simply because it is comforting to trust that the truth we try to pursue exists. Simply because it seems right and balanced

A bit of both (the role reversal) is necessary for the story...else there is no story.

Do you hear a voice when you close your eyes?

Yes and No because I only chose to hear what I want to hear.

There are no constants, unless we are talking about absolutes. Ergo, change cannot exist(be defined) within the realm of absolutes. Perhaps, change itself will come to cease...There is no way to tell, unless you can prove you possess absolute knowledge.

@ Sooks: Apologies Sooks for taking over. Will catch up with Convergence over the weekend and comment.

Is this conscious a big ocean or a river that merges in that ocean?

Finally found time the other day to catch up with Convergence, at last! What can I say? the others have said it all.
Thank you for firing up the brain cells and getting us, no, more in point, ME to get off the mindless ferret wheel of my daily life and to sit down and THINK.

Thanks Artemis for the terrific thread you've started with your comments. Thanks all of you, Ivre, 6thElement, Ninand, Nirvana and the rest of you who've made such fantstically insightful responses to Artemis's comments.

And finally Sookie- how could you? how could you steal my line - change is the only constant, I've said it for so many years now, ever since it dawned on me that the only way to survive this world was to accept this fact. My life is a such a battle between hating change and being terrified of getting stuck!

Divine truth- 'divine' as an adjective modifying the noun 'truth'? or 'divine' as a genetive to the noun referring to someone/something that the truth belongs to?
Sorry can't help being a linguist!

In any case isn't truth divine in itself? I'm not sure if there is any external divine out there who owns some truth which we need to come to know? I don't believe so.
There is neither a divine nor a truth out there.

We carry OUR OWN truths within ourselves. We may not know what it is or worse how to deal to deal with it, but the truth is ours, however painful, however joyous. And in the moments we are able to know it and acknowledge it, we have touched the divine within us.
