Adil: Hmm
Shekhar: Arre sun na!!
Adil: Hmm..
Shekhar: Main na soch raha tha ek hafte ke liye office bandh karke tour pe chalte hai, thik hai na?
Adil: Hmm...
Shekhar: (jerks him our of his thoughts) Adil..!!
Adil: Shekhar...main sun raha hu.
Shekhar: Haan wo dekha maine, kitna suna!!
Adil: Kyun? Kya hua?
Shekhar: Wo chhod, pehle ye bata itna pareshan kyun hai?
Adil: Kuch nahi.
Shekhar: (smiles) Pata tha, yehi jawab hoga. I wont ask u again, lekin itna jaan lo agar kisise baat karna chaho then am always there. (and he is abt to leave when Adil speaks up)
Adil: I missed you Shekhar!!
Shekhar: (surprised at the sudden acknowledgement) Kya?
Adil: Kuch nahi.
Shekhar: Uff, Ashna sahi kehti hai yaar!! U can sumtyms really get on the nerves. Itni achhi baat kahin hai, agar repeat kar dega to tera kya jayega?
Adil: Agar tujhe pata hai ki maine achhi baat kahin hai, tab to ye bhi pata hoga ki maine akhir kaha kya hai. Then why shud I repeat?
Shekhar: Chal, tujhse logical hona to bekaar hai. U have all the possible & impossible logics in ur head!! Khair, I missed you too. Tumhare sath rehne ki itni adat ho chuki hai ki ab apne hi ghar me dil nahi lagta.
Adil: Tu shaadi kyun nahi kar leta?
Shekhar: What? (and Adil gives him a look that says "Do I need to repeat? I don't think so." ) I mean to say, kya keh raha hai yaar!! Teri tabiyat to thik hai na? Pehle mujhe miss karne ki baat kii jo itne saalo em kabhi nahi kaha..
Adil: (cutting him) Tu kabhi dur gaya hi nahi. U were never away for so long!!
Shekhar: Haan haan pata hai. Lekin phir bhi yaar, aaj thoda alag behave kar raha hai.
Adil: Alag nahi, bas mann me khyal aya!! Actually main Rashi ke shaadi ke bare me soch raha tha.
Shekhar: Rashi ki shaadi? Usne khud bataya tujhe Shaleen ke bare me?
Adil: Hmm, kal kehna chah rahi thi. To maine bol diya ki mujhe pata hai.
Shekhar: Okay. Lekin shaadi ki baat sochna...thoda jaldi nahi hoga? I mean, bacchi hai wo.
Adil: Wo to hai. Soch raha tha, Mom aur Dadi se baat karne se pehle Shaleen se mil leta hu. Lekin abhi to wo Singapore me hai, so I need to wait. Shayad mujhe pehle hi baat karni chahiye thi, jab wo yaha tha.
Shekhar: Its okay Adil. Wo bhag ke thodi jaa raha hai. He appears to be a nice & sincere guy. Aur Rashi ke pasand pe bharosa kiya jaa sakta hai. Tu zyada mat soch. Jaldi karne wali koi baat nahi hai yaar!! Chillax!! (Adil raises an eyebrow at that) I mean, chill & relax!!
Adil: Bahut jaldi ho raha hai?
Shekhar: Bahut jaldi nahi, I mean its ok to get her married now, but there is no need na!! Aur phir am sure tum khud ye nahi chahte ki wo tumhe chhodke itni jaldi chali jaye.
Adil: Ye bhi sahi hai. (and he seemed thoughtful)
Shekhar: Adil?
Adil: Haan?
Shekhar: Tu na ghar jaa!!
Adil: What?
Shekhar: (laughs) Abhi main repeat karu? (Adil gives him a 'no joke' look) Achha chal, mazak bandh. But u seriously look stressed. Isme itna sochne wali koi baat nahi hai, at least filhaal to bilkul nahi. Waise ye sirf meri soch hai, tu chahe to kisi aur se bhi baat kar le. Aur koi janta hai Shaleen ke bare me?
Adil: Rishabh aur Ashna!!
Shekhar: Tera bhai bekaar hai. Usse chhod. Talk to Ashna!! (just then Shekhar's cell rings) Ahh, this is important. Baad me milta hu. Bye!!
"Ashna?"
Reaching home, Adil finds Ashna in his mother's room. She seemed to be having a gud tym wid her, so he didn't disturb them. After a while, when Ashna entered the room, she was a lil startled to find him.
Ashna: Uff phirse mujhe darra diya!!
Adil: U mean to say TUM phirse darr gayi.
Ashna: Yeah yeah, all the same!!
Adil: Its anything but all the same!!
Ashna: Arre tum to pichhe hi padh gaye!! Aaj kal kuch zyada hi ulta jawab dene lage ho.
Adil doesn't reply to this. He was just sitting on the bed leaning back and closing his eyes!! For a few minutes there was complete silence and that bugged Ashna.
Ashna: Ab tum chup kyun ho gaye?
Adil: I thought tumhe mera bolna pasand nahi hai.
Ashna: Aisa kab kaha maine? Tum hamesha tedha samajhte ho!! Khud tedhe ho shayad isliye!!
Adil: Main tedha hu?
Ashna: Ahh...I thought samajhdaar ko ishara kaafi hota hai. But then...lets not get into that argument!! Main na tumhe ek achhi news deti hu, waise to ye secret hai phir bhi main tumhe bata deti hu.
Adil: Wait a minute!! Tum kisika secret kholne wali ho?
Ashna: Arre its nothing huge okay? Koi tender secret nahi khol rahi hu. Don't get hyper!! Actually Maa na kuch dino se tumhara naam lene ki koshish kar rahi hai. And mujhe lagta hai tum do-teen din me unki awaz me apna naam sunne wale ho.
Adil: (sits up) Mera naam?
Ashna: Yes!! Wo sabse pehle tumhara naam pukarna chahti hai. Isnt it wonderful? Wo kitna pyar karti hai tumse Adil. Pata hai jab main pehle pehle iss ghar me ayi thi to mujhe bada ajeeb lagta tha, ye dekh ke ki wo tumhe Rashi se zyada pyar karti hai. Mujhe to tab Rishabh ke bare me pata bhi nahi tha!! Maine to unse puchha bhi tha ki wo tumse itna pyar kaise karti hai? Unhone bas kaha tum unke bade bete ho, mujhe to baad me pata chala ki tum...(she suddenly stops thinking that he might feel bad)
Adil: Adopted hu!! Pata hai mujhe!! Isliye ye keh sakti ho tum.
Ashna: Haan wohi. Main bas kehna chahti thi ki wo tumhe apne sagge baccho se zyada pyar karti hai. Its quite incredible...and admirable as well.
Adil: Hmm, kuch logo ka dil hadh se zyada bada hota hai. Shayad isliye kyunki kuch logo ke paas dil hota hi nahi hai. (he says quite unmindfully)
Ashna: Adil? Are you alright?
Adil: Huh? Yeah, am fine!!
Ashna: Sorry!! Mujhe shayad ye sab nahi kehna chahiye tha. I didn't mean to hurt you!!
Adil: Its ok!! Don't be sorry!!
Ashna: Okay then, tum araam karo. Main baad me aati hu.
Adil: (thinking sumthing) Erm...Ashna!! (and she turns around) Tumse thodi der baat kar sakta hu?
Ashna: Tum meri permission mang rahe ho?
Adil: (rolls his eyes) Why don't u just sit down?
Ashna: Sure!!
Adil: Well, mujhe Rashi ke bare me tumse kuch baat karni thi.
Ashna: Hmm, kaho. Waise koi problem to nahi hai na? Wo ladka sahi hai na?
Adil: Haan wo sab thik hai. Pehle batao, tumne kahin mom ko bata to nahi diya Rashi ke bare me?
Ashna: Arre nahi, main pagal hu kya? Mujhe pata hai ki tumhe khud Maa aur Dadi se baat karni chahiye iss bare me!! Main kuch nahi kahungi unse, don't worry!! The secret is safe wid me.
Adil: Secret safe wid you? Haan dekha maine, tum kaafi bharosemand ho iss mamle me!!
Ashna: Arre tum aisa mat socho. Main secrets rakh sakti hu.
Adil: Yeah, tumne kaha aur maine maan liya!! (she was abt to say sumthing but he stops her) To be honest, it hardly matters!! Aur mujhe tumse kuch aur discuss karna tha!!
Ashna: Hmm kaho.
Adil: Kya tumhe bhi lagta hai abhi Rashi ki shaadi ke shaadi ke bare me sochna jaldbazi hogi?
Ashna: Mujhe bhi? So this means kisi aur ne bhi tumhe gyan diya hai lekin tumne puri tarah se liya nahi.
Adil: Tumse puchhna hi nahi chahiye tha!! Tumhe to aaj kal bas mazak sujhta hai.
He is abt to get up but Ashna cums forward and holds his hand.
Ashna: Achha sorry!! Naraz mat ho!! Main ab seriously baat karungi. Pls baith jao. (and they both sit down) Well, rahi tumhare sawal ki baat to haan, mujhe bhi almost aisa hi lagta hai. I mean, Rashi is quite young!! Do saal to wo asaani se wait kar sakti hai. Till then unhe zara date karne do na!! Tumhe pata hai date karna kitna mazedaar hota hai?
Adil: Date?
Ashna: Haan date!! Tumhe to pata bhi nahi hoga na ki date kehte kisse hai. I am sure tumne kabhi kisiko date nahi kiya hoga. Am I right? In fact kal mere sath pehli baar...
Ashna doesn't complete her sentence as they both look up at the same time. His mere gaze makes her so numb that she loses her words!! After a while she drops her eyes and finds her hand in his. She quickly withdraws her hand while he looks away. An awkward silence prevails for few seconds, but Ashna speaks up again.
Ashna: Wo main keh rahi thi ki dating ka apna ek maza hota hai. Dono ka milna, ghanto baatein karna aur din ki saari baatein khatam hone ke bawjud phirse raat ko ghanto phn pe lage rehna, its all fun u knw!!
Adil: (gets up suddenly) Seems like tumhe kaafi experience hai.
Ashna: Arre tum phirse uth gaye!! Meri baat to sun lo...
Adil: No its ok. Aur sunne ki zarurat nahi hai. I get ur point, which is Rashi ko date karne dena chahiye ryt?
Ashna: Arre tum apni brotherly instincts ko zyada alert mat karo. Main to bas...
Adil: (cutting her) Mazak kar rahi thi hai na? Sahi tha maine, tumhe aaj kal bas mazak sujhta hai. Har baat ko lightly leti ho tum.
Ashna: Am sorry!! I didn't want to hurt your feelings. Mujhe pata hai tumhe Rashi ki kitni parwa hai. Sirf ek bhai ki tarah nahi ek pitah ki tarah bhi sochna padhta hai tumhe. Main bas itna kahungi ki ek dost ki tarah usse baat kar lo. Jaan lo ki wo kya chahti hai. Aur Shaleen ne apne ghar me baat kii ya nahi aur usse tum kab mil sakte ho, ye bhi jaan lena!! There is no hurry Adil lekin abhi se baat chalane me koi problem nahi hai. Aur phir baat hi to kar rahe ho na, shaadi-vaadi hone me waise bhi waqt lagega!! (she finishes wid a smile)
Adil just nods his head while acknowledging her words!! He is abt to leave when Ashna speaks up again.
Ashna: Waise tum Maa se milte waqt unhe ye ehsaas mat dilana ki tumhe wo "secret" baat pata hai. Mera impression bigad jayega!! Wo tumhare samne zahir nahi karti but she has improved a lot. May be tumhe surprise dena chahti hai.
Adil: Impression!! (loudly) Waise agar tumhe unki surprise ki itni fikr hai to mujhe bata kyun diya?
Ashna: Maine socha tum khush ho jaoge!! Waise bhi tum hamesha pareshan rehte ho. Main bas chahti thi koi baat ho jisse tumhe thodi khushi mile.
Adil: (ignores the care in her words) Waise tumhe kisne kaha main Mom se milne jaa raha hu?
Ashna: Kisiko kehne ki zarurat nahi hai. Itna to main tumhe janti hi hu ki tum abhi pehle Mom se miloge aur phir Rashi se. Waise mujhe ghalat sabit karne ke liye iska ulta bhi kar sakte ho, tumhara kya bharosa!!
Adil just shakes his head and leaves the room.
However Ashna was right. Adil meets his mother first and then goes to Rashi. He did think of altering the order to prove her wrong, but then whichever way she was gonna be right. She did knw him well enough!!
Later ...Adil talks to Rashi.
Rashi: AB aap iss waqt?
Adil: Mujhe pata that u soyi nahi hogi. Can we talk?
Rashi: Of course!! In fact mujhe aap se hi baat karni thi, akele me!!
Adil: That I knw!! To batao, aur kya kehna hai mujhse!!
Rashi: Dekhiye AB aap pls bura mat manna, main aapko aur bhi pehle bata deti lekin...pata nahi kyun himmat nahi ho rahi thi. I am sorry!!
Adil: Iss hisaab se to mujhe bhi sorry kehna chahiye kyunki maine jo kiya wo sahi nahi tha. I had a watch on you!! Lekin main sorry nahi kahunga kyunki mera intention sahi tha, and jaha tak mujhe pata hai tera intention bhi sahi tha. So there is no place for sorry ok? Maine kaha tha tujhse ki...
Rashi: (cutting him) Hamesha niyat pe dhyan dena chahiye!! (and she smiles) Mujhe yaad hai AB. Waise ek baat puchhu?
Adil: Nahi. Puchhne ki zarurat nahi hai, main khud bata deta hu. Shaleen bahut achha hai.
Rashi: (hugs him in excitement) Thanks AB!! Mujhe hamesha aap se bas itna hi sunna tha. Thank you so much!!
Adil: Waise main yaha kuch kehne aya tha.
Rashi: Ohh of course!! Main bhi na...hamesha khud hi bolti hu. Aap pls kahiye jo kehna hai.
Adil: Shaleen ne tumhare bare me apni family ko...I mean apne Dad se baat kii?
Rashi: Haan, isiliye to mere kaan ke aage tandav kar raha tha ki main bhi aap se baat karu.
Adil: Tandav?
Rashi: Haan...I mean nahi. Not literally!! Wo bas...
Adil: Its ok. Waise, let me knw whenever I can meet him alright? (he nods in a yes) Aur haan, main khud Shaleen se milne ke baad hi Mom aur Dadi se baat karunga. Till then...(thinks for a moment and then speaks again) tum log "date" kar sakte ho!!
Rashi: Date?
Adil: Hmm, aur iske details tum apni Bhabhi se puchh sakti ho. She seems to be very experienced!!
Rashi: (giggles) Ohh Bhabhi..!! Unhone ye kaha aapse hai na? Tabhi main sochu aap ye kya bol rahe ho.
Adil: Achha, main chalta hu. Bye.
Almost at midnight...Adil was staring at Ashna's pics in his laptop and was lost in thoughts!!
"Kiya hoga usne date!! So what?? What's the big deal?"
Surrounded by thoughts, Adil clenches the pencil in his hand tightly and eventually breaks it. That was when Ashna entered the room, so she quickly comes to him.
Ashna: Arre kya hua? Hath se pencil kyun tod rahe ho? Karate classes join karna hai kya?
Adil doesn't reply and just avoids looking at her.
Ashna: Ohkay!! Seems like tumhara mood kharab hai. Main aur kuch nahi kahungi kyunki mera mood bahut achha hai aur main nahi chahti tum mujhe kuch bura bhala keh do and mera mood bigad jaye!! Waise kar kya rahe the tum? (and she tries to have a look at the laptop but he shuts it on time)
Adil: Tumhe kya sab kuch janna hota hai?
Ashna: Well, sab kuch nahi. But things related to you fascinate me!! (Adil just stares at her with a confused look) I meant to say, you get me curious!!
Adil: Tum apni curiosity apne tak hi rakha karo samjhi? (he is abt to leave but she speaks up)
Ashna: Ek baat puchhni hai.
Adil: Ab kya?
Ashna: Kya wo kisi ladki ki photo thi?
Adil: Photo?
Ashna: Laptop me!! Mujhe bas border dikhayi diya!! Kisi ladki ki photo thi na wo?
Adil: Mujhe aisa kyun lag raha hai ki jawab tumhe already pata hai.
Adil leaves the room wid his laptop while Ashna has a pensive look. She suddenly felt disturbed at the thought of Adil having someone else in his life.
"Nahi. Aisa kaise ho sakta hai? Agar usse koi aur pasand hota to wo mujhse shaadi hi kyun karta? Aur phir shaadi ki zidd bhi uski thi. Wo khud mujhe shaadi ke liye manane aya tha. Main shayad kuch zyada hi soch rahi hu. Hogi koi photo!! Main bhi kahan sure hu? Aur photo dekhne se kya hota hai?"
Bahut Kuch!!
Ashna looks up to find herself smiling at her.
Ohh not again!! Tum phirse bahar aa gayi? Stupid antar-aatma!! Don't u knw antar-aatmas are supposed to stay inside!!
Adil sahi sochta hai. Tum bolti zyada ho. Main to hamare fayde ke liye ayi hu. Isliye baar baar mujhe yaani khudko stupid kehna bandh karo. Main bas kuch conceptions clear karne ayi hu.
Jaise?
Jaise ki Adil ka kisi bhi photo ko dekhna ek chinta karne wali baat hai. U cant let it go. Remember abhi tak wo tumhara hua nahi hai. In fact wo kabhi tumse romantic behave nahi karta, bas care karta hai. Isliye ye janna ab bahut zaruri ho gaya hai ki tumhare dil me uske liye jo khaas ehsaas hai kya uske dil me bhi waisa kuch hai, ya phir ye bas uski achhayi hai jiske naate wo tumhari itni care karta hai. Lets think of it dear!!
And the image disappears!!
"Sahi to hai. Ye tension ki baat hai. Adil kisiki bhi photo kyun dekhega? Upar se mere sawal ka seedha jawab bhi nahi diya!! Ye alag baat hai ki wo kabhi mujhe seedha jawab nahi deta. Still, ye sochne wali baat hai. Meri antar-aatma utni bhi stupid nahi hai jitni main samajhti thi, in fact she is quite smart!! Rather, I am quite smart!! (she smirks at the thought but the very next moment the smile is wiped away) Ye khudki gungaan karne ka waqt nahi hai. I have to knw if he feels anything special for me or not!! (gets a lil more serious) Waise "or not" ka koi option nahi hai. You have to feel for me Adil, kyunki isse alag koi sach main bardasht nahi kar sakti."

Here Adil was in his study!! But he was not working!! Rather he had opened the window which was rarely opened by him. At this moment he somehow preferred looking at the vacancy ahead. The breeze was also chilly as winter was almost at the door. At this hour, everything outside seemed perfect to soothe his weariness!!
Adil soon left the study and went to the terrace!! He closed his eyes to calm himself down but even the cool breeze was unable to soothe him. He banged his fist on a wall in frustration. But the little pain that he felt was not enough to take his mind off her.
"Mujhe tumhare bare me nahi sochna hai Ashna. Please!! Just stay away from me and my thoughts!!"
Just then a smiling Ashna pops in front of him.
C'mon Adil. Don't lie to urself. Tum khud mere khayalon se khudko dur nahi karna chahte. Aise me main kya kar sakti hu? I cant stay away from you unless you let me!! (she smiles at him while he stares blankly) Ohh poor you Adil, you love me so much!!
Adil quickly closes his eyes as soon as the words reach his ears!! A tiny droplet of tear glistens at the corner of his eye, but he makes no effort to wipe it away. He felt too defeated to do so. It was useless to pretend to be strong, at least before his own self. He knew he was gonna lose either ways!!
