Adil: You r burning!! (and he quickly bends down to make her stand up) C'mon I'll take you to the bed. If u were not feeling well then ghar pe kisiko batana chahiye tha na? Abhi dekha kitna temperature chadh gaya!! (after taking her to the bed he gets sum medicines) Ye khao aur...no no one second. Tumne to kuch khaya nahi na? U have to eat sumthing Ashna!! I'll just get you sumthing, give me 2 minutes!!

Adil quickly leaves and comes back in a few minutes wid a plate in his hand. As Adil offers her the food, she quietly eats it from his hand. She then takes the medicines and lies down.

After sometime Adil also changes his formal attire and takes his side on the bed. As he casts his eyes on her, he instantly notices a droplet of tear at the corner of her eyes. It soon drips along her nose line and falls on the pillow.

Even before Adil cud think of anything, his thumb reaches her noseline and wipes away that teardrop, caressing her face in the process. His hand rests against her cheek for a while and then he draws them away wid an effort.

Adil, immersed in his own thoughts and worries, fails to notice that Ashna's hands clutch the end of the pillow as soon as he touches her!! She closes her eyes ever more tightly fearing that they might give in to her urge of seeing his face right now!! She intakes a silent breath to calm down her thumping heart!! And wid her burning temperature, she falls asleep shortly.

For the next two days, Ashna had a gud enough fever to restrict her to the bed. Adil's constant watch was proving fruitful in that regard. He in fact called three days' off at office, so that he cud be wid her all the time. Ashna felt all the more touched as he took care of her like she was the only one that mattered to him. She loved being attended by him. She loved the look of worry on his face whenever she wud feel unwell. She loved the look he gave her whenever she was reluctant wid the medicines. And she loved the fact that he was concerned more than her when the doctor was taking her blood sample. He was so serious abt her not liking injections that Ashna for once thought she wud laugh out at his worry. But the next moment she felt the intensity of his care for her and immediately colour rose to her cheeks!! It was strange but the truth was she loved to see him being worried for her.

"Bahut pareshan karte ho tum mujhe, thodi pareshani tumhe bhi honi chahiye!!"

In short, Ashna literally enjoyed being ill this time. She never liked her feverish days better for sure!! However her temperature became normal after two days and Adil was all set to voice his concern!!

Adil: U need to be more careful abt urself Ashna. Kitna bukhar chadh gaya tha tumhe!! Kitna pareshan ho gaya tha main, mera matlab sabhi pareshan ho gaye the!! Achha hua bas viral fever tha and it was nothing serious!! Lekin aise hi bukhar chadh jana, its not gud. Zarur kuch ulta seedha kiya hoga tumne!! This is a changing season, u need to take more care of urslef. Anyways, abhi tumhara fever thoda kam hai, so I am just going out for a while. Jaldi aa jaunga. But don't u dare leave the bed. And take complete rest. Aur...ek minute!! Are u even listening? (Ashna doesn't reply and keeps staring) Ashna!! (and now he snaps her out of her trance) Ashna!! What's wid you? Tumne suna maine kya kaha?

Ashna: Huh? Haan.

Adil: Achha? Kya kaha maine?

Ashna: Wo...wo tum!! (and she goes blank again. She was basically looking at Adil unblinkingly)

Adil: U knw wat? Just take care ok? Please!!

Ashna nods in a yes and averts her gaze, scolding herself mentally for her stupidity.

"Stupid me!! Whats there to stare at him? Pagal samjhega mujhe!!"

Adil: Okay then. Bye. (and he leaves)

At home, Rashi is talking over the phn.

Rashi: Shut up Shaleen. [played by Shaleen Bannot] My AB is no hitler!!

Shaleen: To itna kyun darrti ho?

Rashi: Main darrti nahi hu. Its just I donno how he'll take it. Upar se maine itna late kar diya!! May be mujhe unhe bahut pehle batana chahiye tha. Kahin wo ye na soch le ki main unse chhupana chahti thi.

Shaleen: Umm...Rashi I think its obvious ki wo aisa hi sochenge since that's wat u are doing!! Tum unse chhupa hi to rahi ho.

Rashi: No!! I am not hiding it from him. I am just w8ing for the right moment.

Shaleen: Tum na badi alsi ho. U need a push for everything. Jaldi batao na yaar, maine to Dad se bhi baat karke rakhi hai. Its ur family who needs to knw. Achha, tum agar apne Bhai se baat karne me awkward feel kar rahi ho then u can try ur mom or Bhabhi na?

Rashi: Tum apna dimag aur apne ideas apne paas rakho samjhe? Maine kaha tha na, I need to tell AB first. Anyways, tum zyada fikr mat karo, main baat kar lungi unse, as I don't feel awkward wid him ok!! Abhi Bhabhi thodi bimaar hai to AB bhi pareshan hai, but I'll talk to him soon.

Shaleen: Okay. Let me knw if u need sum boost.

Rashi: Boost? U knw wat, I am w8ing for the day when u meet AB. Boost, Bournvita, Complan saare naam bhul jaoge!!

Shaleen: (laughs) Achha? That wud be interesting!! Anyways, sach sach batao. Tumhe kya lagta hai, wo maan jayenge?

Rashi: It depends!! Tum sach sach batao, kya tum ek achhe insaan ho?

Shaleen: What?

Rashi: What kehne se kuch nahi hoga!! If yes, then AB maan jayenge. If no, then tumhari khair nahi.

Shaleen: Be serious yaar!! Agar unhone mana kar diya to?

Rashi: To unke paas koi bahut badi wajah hogi and I'll trust his judgment. But maine apni judgment unhi se sikhi hai and I chose u. So am positive ki wo mana kar hi nahi payenge. U r just too gud.

Shaleen: Ahemz!! Someone seems to have complimented me!! It feels like a miracle!!

Rashi: Shaleen!! U knw wat. Main abhi rakhne wali hu. Gud bye.

Shaleen: Achha hai. Even I need sum rest. Kaam se aa ke har shyam tumse ek-do ghante tak baat karna, its tiring!! Am sleepy now, bye!!

Rashi: U r mean!!

Shaleen: Same to you!! Bye sweetie!!

Rashi: Bye!!

At some place...after some time...

Adil: Thank you for letting me re-schedule. Actually...

Person: (cutting him) Ur wife was ill. I knw. Kam se kam 20 baar zikr kiya hai tumne!! U were so worried that I had to give you up. Is she f9 now?

Adil: (a little embarrassed) Yeah. Better!! Anyways lets get started now.

Some time passes by. Ashna had tried hard to get sum sleep, but she had already slept too much for the day to get sum sleep now. So she was watching TV in the room, but her attention was not there!! She felt irritated at her own restlessness!!

Just then she sees the door knob being opened and swiches off the TV in a hurry. Adil enters the room to find her sitting stiffly on the bed. He narrows his eyes at her and notices the remote in her hand. He simply touches the TV to find it hot, which means it was running.

Adil: Tum TV dekh rahi thi.

Ashna: (pouts at being caught) Hmm.

Adil: I thought maine tumhe rest karne ko kaha tha!!

Ashna: Main bore ho rahi thi. And abhi main thik hu. Mujhe bukhaar bhi nahi hai.

Adil: Achha? (he comes forward to chk her temperature. He touches her forehead and then her cheek while she lets out a silent gasp.) Temperature kam hai, I admit, but its still there!! So u must be careful warna phir se bukhaar aa jayega!! (Ashna makes a face while he continues) Achha main Mom ko dekhke ata hu. Tum chupchap araam karo. Aate waqt I will get ur dinner.

Adil leaves the room while Ashna makes a face at his back. She turns away her face when a light breeze touches her. She suddenly feels his hand on her cheek as he had touched her a few moments back. She then recalls his finger grazing down her noseline as he had wiped away a teardrop that night. Ashna slowly closes her eyes relishing his touch unmindfully. Soon her parted lips let out a gasp while she opens her eyes. Ashna stares at the night sky as she bites her lips being stunned by the intensity of her own feelings!!

"Ye kya soch rahi hu main? Ye sab sahi bhi hai ya...mujhe achanak ye pyar kaise ho gaya? Aur kyun hua? Ye sab kitna troublesome hai. Meri antar-aatma kitni buri hai, khud hi ko bechain karke chali gayi. Aur ye Adil, mujhe bed se utarne bhi nahi deta jabki sara din yu baithe baithe main aur bhi uske bare me sochti hu."

At night Adil receives a call from Shekhar.

Adil: Hey, itni raat ko call kiya!!

Shekhar: I knw its late, lekin main ye bhi janta hu ki tu soya nahi hoga, hai na?

Adil: Obviously!! That's why am answering the call.

Shekhar: Waise Ashna kaisi hai ab?

Adil: She is better now!! I think 2/3 din me bilkul thik ho jayegi. Anyways, when are u returning?

Shekhar: Actually ussi silsiley me phn kiya maine. Kya main 2/4 din aur ruk sakta hu?

Adil: Ye puchhne ki zarurat nahi thi Shekhar!! Of course u can!! Par sab thik to hai na?

Shekhar: Arre haan, everything is f9. Bas yaha sab mujhe Eid ka chand samajhte hai as I come only twice a year!! To sab chahte the main kuch din aur ruk jau.

Adil: Hmm, I understand. Pata nahi tu unhe Mumbai kyun nahi laata!! You shud stay wid ur family Shekhar!!

Shekhar: Arre unhe Nainitaal bahut pasand hai yaar!! Ye sheher sach me itna khubsurat hai na, ki kabhi kabhi mera bhi dil karta hai yehi aa kar reh jau. Lekin mujhe Mumbai ki lyf ki adaat ho chuki hai aur unhe yaha ki. So its cool.

Adil: Hmm, lekin phir bhi mujhe lagta hai u shud stay wid them as much as possible.

Shekhar: Haan haan, main sab samajhta hu. Tu to chahta hi hai main tera pichha chhor du.

Adil: Aisi baat nahi hai. Tere saath hone se mera hi to fayda hota hai. Anyways, tu ek hafta aur ruk jaa!!

Shekhar: Ek hafta? Zyada hai yaar!!

Adil: Mujhe to kam lagta hai.

Shekhar: Achha thik hai, if u insist. Par meri zarurat padhe to call karna ok? Bye & take care!!

As soon as they end up the conversation, Adil just thinks: "Seven more days!!"

Life without Shekhar was truly hard for Adil. Shekhar wud do so much for him that sumtyms he cud not evaluate him properly. If Adil had ever taken anything for granted then it was Shekhar!! He was the only person that Adil believed to have full rights on, even more than Shekhar's own family!! Shekhar's existence made him believe that God had not ignored him completely and rather created something that was solely his own!! A friend who wud do anything and everything for his sake!!

However Adil turns around to find Ashna quickly closing her eyes!!

Adil: Ashna!! I knw u r awake!! Its 2 o'clock. Pls get sum sleep.

Ashna: (opens her eyes) Mujhe neend nahi aa rahi hai. Aur...

Adil: Aur?

Ashna: Sir dard kar raha hai aur...aur...

Adil: Aur?

Ashna: Shayad thoda...erm...bukhaar bhi chadh raha hai.

Adil: (gives her a knowing look) Isiliye main...

Ashna: (cutting him) Pata hai mujhe, isiliye tum keh rahe the ki main jitna ho sake rest karu warna phirse bukhaar chadh jayega!! Ab chadh gaya bukhaar, pls lecture mat do!!

Adil: Achha fine. Don't be so upset. Bukhaar jaise chadhta hai waise utarta bhi hai. Aur rahi baat sir dard ki to, main sir daba du? (he suggests hesitantly) Shayad neend bhi aa jayegi.

Much to Adil's amusement Ashna agrees. Nodding her head she closes her eyes while he begins to massage her forehead. And in a few minutes she falls asleep. Adil stays awake till late, just staring at her face all the while. He wanted to cherish the feeling of having her close to himself. Quite unmindfully he places a soft kiss on her forehead, closing his eyes in the process, to take in the moment in his memory forever!!

In the morning Ashna wakes up quite early and she opens her eyes to find herself too close to Adil's neck. If she tilted her head a bit more she cud be kissing his jaw. With that very thought she moves back and sits up straight.

Ashna finds him sleeping in an uncomfortable position. She wanted to shift him in a confortable position, but before that she cudnt help staring at him for a while. He looked tired & stressed even in his sleep. So Ashna gently ran her hand thru his hair pushing them past his forehead. Then she placed sum more pillows to make him comfortable. After giving him one long look she left the bed.

In the next two-three days Ashna gets alright and joins the office too, as she told Adil that she was getting extremely bored at home. But the fact was she just wanted to keep herself occupied to prevent her thoughts going astray!! Adil, however, noticed the oddness in her behavior as she suddenly became very conscious of him. And she also acted confusingly as sumtyms she wud desperately ignore him whereas the next moment she wud make lame excuses and call him.

One night, Adil sees her name flashing on his mobile screen for the tenth time in the past 4 hours!! He answers the call wid a tired hello.

Ashna: Adil wo...

Adil: Tumhe actual me kuch kehna bhi hai ya mujhe pareshan karne ki koi nayi technique hai ye? If yes, then let me tell you its very effective and am already bugged. But pls abhi mujhe ye chhota sa kaam khatam karne do, I need to get home.

Ashna: Exactly, u need to get home. Rashi aur Rishabh tumhe lekar jhagda kar rahe hai.

Adil: Jhagda? Rashi ko phn do zara!!

Ashna tried to make Rashi talk to Adil but instead she kept shouting that she wont listen to anyone!!

Ashna: She is not listening Adil. Main aur Maa kabse koshish kar rahe hai, but jhagda to badhta hi jaa raha hai aur ab to tumhare Dad ki baat ko lekar bhi...

Adil: Main ata hu.

As soon as Adil reaches home, Rishabh gets all the more furious to see him.

Rishabh: Bas tumhari hi kami thi. After all ye sab tumhari wajah se ho raha hai.

Rashi: Aap AB se aise baat bilkul mat kijiye!!

Adil: Rashi..!! Ho kya raha hai ye? Wo bada hai tujhse!!

Rashi: U knw wat AB!! I don't care!! And pls u too don't care!! He doesn't deserve any of it. Aap soch bhi nahi sakte wo kya kya keh rahe the aap ke bare me!! Mom ke mana karne ke bawjud ye...

Rishabh: Mom!! Unhe kya pata hai? Kuch bhi nahi. Unke aankhon me pata nahi kaisi patti bandhi hai jo ye (pointing at Adil) aaj bhi hamare ghar me reh raha hai. Isiki wajah se sab kuch barbaad ho gaya lekin...

Rashi: AB ki wajah se kuch nahi hua.

Adil: Rashi chup kar!! Cant u see he is drunk? And Rishabh, aaj ke liye bahut hua!! Saari ghalti meri hai, main manta hu. But abhi ke liye apne room me jao!!

Rishabh: Maante ho na ki saari ghalti tumhari hai? To chale kyun nahi jate hamari zindagi se? Meri zindagi se!! Tumhe bardasht nahi kar sakta main, ghutan hoti hai mujhe!! Yakeen maano Adil, bahut baar samjhote ki koshish kii hai maine. Lekin hota hi nahi mujhse!! Tumhare saath judi hui achhi yaadon ko yaad karna to chahta hu main, lekin aakhir me mujhe bas wo sab yaad ata hai jo hum ne kho diya, wo bhi tumhari wajah se!! Din ke aakhir me mujhe bas wo duniya dikhai deti hai jo hamara ho to sakta tha, lekin hua nahi. Tumhari wajah se!!

Rashi: Dekha AB!! Ye kab se yehi sab...

Adil: Rashi Pls!! Tu to meri baat maan!! Go to ur room!! He is drunk Rashi, isiliye ye sab keh raha hai. He doesn't mean it. So don't be upset ok? Go to ur room!! I'll take care of him. Just go!!

Rashi leaves unwillingly while Adil's eyes rest upon his mother!! She was looking back at him wid teary eyes!!

Adil: He is just drunk Mom. (But instead of being assured like Rashi she just shakes her head in denial) Pls don't be hurt!! Chhota hai wo, uski baat dil pe mat lo. Aap apne room me jao, main sambhal lunga isse!! (and then he signals Ashna to take her away while she obliges)

Now Adil takes Rishabh to his room while he keeps blabbering all the way.

Rishabh: I hate you Adil. For everything!! Tum Mom-Dad ka wo beta bane jo main kabhi nahi ban paya!! Tum Rashi ke favourite Bhai bane jo main nahi ban paya!! But still I took u as a brother!! Tum mere bhi bahut azeez the!! Lekin tumhari wajah se sab kuch bikhar gaya Adil. Kyun hua ye sab kuch? Tumhari wajah se, hai na?

Adil was now making him lie down on his bed. He switched off the light but Rishabh grabbed his hand.

Rishabh: Tum ho na iss sab ki wajah? Batao, kya main ghalat hu?

Adil: Nahi. Tum sahi ho. Bilkul sahi. (he patted lightly on his head and came away)

Reaching the door, Adil found Ashna. Adil knew she wanted to say sumthing, but he didn't want to talk.

Adil: Mom thik hai?

Ashna: Hmm. Maine unhe dawai ke sath neend ki goli de di.

Adil: Aur Rashi?

Ashna: She is fine!! Maine baat kii hai usse. Tum kal baat kar lena, wo Rishabh se maafi mang legi, don't worry!!

Adil: Thanks!! (and he is abt to go ignoring her attempts to say sumthing) Waise Dadi kahan hai?

Ashna: Actually unka BP kal se thoda high hai, to wo neend ki goli leke jaldi so jati hai.

Adil: BP high hai? Mujhe kisine bataya nahi..!! Achha thik hai, tum bhi chal ke so jao, thak gayi hogi and yeah thanks a lot!!

And he walks away really fast as he just doesn't want to talk. But Ashna simply follows him to the room and tries again.

Ashna: I think tumhe Rishabh se baat karni chahiye, naa ki uski haan me haan milana chahiye!! Tum usse samjhate kyun nahi?

Adil: Tum inn sab me mat padho Ashna!! Tum kuch nahi janti.

Ashna: Main jitna janti hu utna kaafi hai. Aur tum kab tak Rishabh ko yu badhawa doge? Aise uska kabhi bhala nahi hoga!! Usse sahi aur ghalat ki samajh honi chahiye Adil. Usse ye samajhna hoga ki wo sirf ek accident tha aur uss baat ke liye kisiko blame nahi kiya jaa sakta!!

Adil: Aur yehi main usse samjhana nahi chahta!! Kyunki dil ka bojh halka karne ke liye uss bojh ko kisi aur pe thopna zaruri hota hai. Dard ko sirf nafrat kam kar sakti hai, aur mere liye uski nafrat usse apne dard se ladhne ki takat deti hai.

Ashna: Nahi Adil. Ghalat ho tum!! Dard ko nafrat se nahi pyar se kam kiya jata hai. Agar Rishabh ne nafrat karne ke bajai apna dard tumse baanta hota to ye dard kabka mit chuka hota!! Aur tum dono khush hote!!

Adil: Ghalat main nahi, tum ho Ashna!! Kitaabi baatein hai ye. Kyunki pyar me nafrat jitni takaat nahi hai. Mom ko dekh rahi ho na tum, bahut pyar karti hai wo mujhse, lekin aaj tak mera bhi naam nahi le payi wo. Mere lakh chahne par bhi mujhe awaz nahi de sakti wo. Pyar unhe unke sadme se bahar nahi laa paya!! Lekin Rishabh ko dekho, Dadi ko dekho. Meri nafrat unhe kahin na kahin jeene ki wajah deti hai. Main ye nahi kehta ki wo sirf mujhse nafrat hi karte hai, shayad ye puri tarah se nafrat hai bhi nahi, bas narazgi hai. Lekin jo bhi hai, yehi sahi hai.

Ashna: Mujhe nahi pata tha tum aisa bhi soch sakte ho Adil. Tum khud sabse itna pyar karte ho, to phir tum aisi baatein kaise kar sakte ho?

Adil: Tum khud hi socho Ashna, tum aaj yaha mere sath kis wajah se khadi ho? Pyar ki wajah se? Nahi. Tumhari wajah bhi nafrat thi Ashna. Tum apne Papa ke pyar ke aage nahi meri nafrat ke aage jhuki thi, yaad hai na tumhe? (Ashna suddenly became too dumbfounded to speak) Khair, ye sab baatein chhoro. Jaisa ki maine tumhe kaha, tumhe inn sab mamlo me padhne ki zarurat nahi hai. Tumne aaj jaise sab kuch sambhalne me meri madat kii, uske liye shukriya!! Aur Rashi se baat karne ke liye bhi shukriya. Main usse kal samjha dunga!!

Ashna: Kyun? Usse kyun samjhaoge? Usse bhi karne do nafrat Rishabh se!! After all hatred is the best driving force, ryt?

Adil: Main usse isliye samjhaunga kyunki wo Rishabh se nafrat nahi, mujhse bahut pyar karti hai.

Ashna: (with a look of disbelief) Tum pyar aur nafrat dono pe ek saath vishwas kaise kar sakte ho?

Adil: Kyunki dono alag hoke bhi kahin na kahin ek hai Ashna!! Naa to har kisise pyar kiya jata hai aur naa hi har kisise nafrat!! Dono ko bahut shiddat se nibhana hota hai. There is a very thin line btwn them. Main ye nahi kehta ki pyar me takat nahi hai, lekin nafrat me bhi bahut takat hai Ashna!! Jab pyar jeena ka sahara banta hai, tab wo kisi aur ka pyar hota hai, pata nahi kab sath chhor de!! Lekin nafrat khud ki hoti hai aur wo kabhi sath nahi chhorta, dhoka nahi deta.

And suddenly Adil was lost, in sum unknown world. He didn't say anything more, but for the first time, his eyes said a lot. For the very first time, Ashna saw pain in them. And it seemed so unbearable that even Adil closed his eyes and clutched his hands tightly in a fist.

Next morning, Rishabh wakes up to find Ashna sitting on his couch, flipping the pages of sum magazine. But soon she notices him awake.

Ashna: Gud morning. (he looks at her questioningly while feeling a pain in his head) Kya hua? Sir dard kar raha hai? Must be hangover!! Tumhare breakfast ke sath ye lime juice bhi hai. Have them quickly coz I need to talk to you!!

After sometime, Rishabh is sitting before her but he was not meeting her eyes.

Ashna: Kya hua? Kahin tum mujhse nazre to nahi chura rahe ho na?

Rishabh: Dekho Ashna. I am not happy abt last night!!

Ashna: Gud!! U shudnt be!!

Rishabh: Mujhe pata hai maine kal bahut kuch keh diya. Mujhe aise scene create nahi karna chahiye tha and of course, kuch zyada hi chadh gaya mujhe!! I am sorry abt that. Tumhe bura laga hoga ki maine tumhare husband se aise baat kii, lekin mujhe lagta hai tumhe iss mamle me shayad kuch kehna nahi chahiye, kyunki tum bas sach ko janti ho, usse jiya nahi tumne!!

Ashna: Sach? Kaunse sach ki baat kar rahe ho tum? Tumhara sach, Mom ka sach, Rashi ka sach, Dadi ka sach aur Adil ka sach...sab ke sab alag sach hai Rishabh!! Har kisika sach alag hota hai. Pata hai, maine kal Adil se kaha tha ki wo tumse baat kare, lekin usne bhi mujhe kaha ki mujhe iss mamle se dur rehna chahiye!! Par uski wajah, uska sach alag hai. Sunna chahte ho wo kya sochta hai? (Rishabh looks away and she continues) Wo sochta hai ki, usse nafrat karne se tumhe sukoon milta hai, tumhare dil ko tasalli milti hai, jeene ki ek wajah milti hai. Aur yakeen maano, issi me wo khush hota hai. Usse apne liye tumhari har nafrat manzoor hai, kyunki wo tumse bahut pyar karta hai, Rishabh!!

Rishabh: Pls Ashna!! Ye sab bakwas baatein hai. Wo kisise pyar nahi karta. At least mujhse to bilkul nahi.

Ashna: Tumhare liye aisa sochna natural hai. If I didn't knw better, I wudnt have believed either!! Uska pyar shayad thoda ajeeb hai Rishabh, kyunki uske liye pyar aur nafrat me zyada fark nahi hai. Shayad isi liye wo kabhi samjha nahi pata ki wo tumse, iss parivaar se kitna pyar karta hai. Aur tumhare Papa se bhi. Yakeen maano, unke jaane ka jitna dukh tumhe hai, utna hi Adil ko bhi hai. Lekin usse blame karke tum bas uska dard badhate ho, aur kuch nahi. Am sure usne kabhi tumhara ya iss parivaar ka bura nahi chaha!!

Rishabh: Agar wo hamara achha chahta hai to chala kyun nahi jata?
