Chapter#1

It was a rainy morning! The sky was covered with dark clouds. The water droplets on the leaves and petals of the flowers made the nature look extra-ordinarily beautiful. Some people were lazily sleeping, snuggling themselves inside their blankets, some were getting drenched in the rain, alone or with their loved ones, some were going to their work in their own vehicles and some were standing at the bus stop under their umbrellas, waiting for the bus.

In the midst of all these ordinary people, there was a unique guy, or rather strange, as everyone considered him. Sitting in his cabin in the office, he was typing up something in his laptop. Sounds normal, right? Well, it would sound normal if it was an office time, but to everyone's surprise, it was 7am, where according to the rule, the office starts at 9am.

His phone rang suddenly rang, making him irritated. Glancing at his phone screen, he picked up the call during his typing session. "Haan maa, bolo!", said a manly voice, a voice to drool over. "Mayu, Gunji ki tabiyat achanak se kharab ho gayi.. jaldi ghar aaja beta!", said a mid-aged woman on the other line. Her voice sounded serious.

"Maa, main 2 minute mein aata hoon!", he tensely said, hung up the phone, stood up and there we go! He was Mayank Sharma, the pure workaholic. The lines of worry flashed on his forehead and without wasting a single moment, he rushed to his home.

There was silence all over in the hall of Sharma House. Shilpa was sitting on the couch, making a sleepy and sad puppy face. Mayank, standing in front, was glaring at her, and Gunjan, the daughter of Sharma family and younger sister of Mayank, was sitting beside her mom with her legs folded on the couch. She was staring at her mom and her bro, touching her cheeks with her palms and keeping her elbows on her knees.

"Bro, aab gussa chod bhi do. Maaf kardo mummy ko", she stood up and said, putting her hands around her bro Mayank's arms. Mayank responded nothing. Instead, he took a deep breath to calm himself and sat. Gunjan sat beside him and tried to read his expressions and as always, his anger was at it's highest peak. "Mayu, maaf karde bhi. Itna bhav khane ki zarurat nahi hain. Main yeh toh sirf tere liye hi kiya naa.", Shilpa said and pouted.

"Par jhoot keheke bulane ki kya zarurat thi maa? Pata hai ki main kitna darr gaya tha? Aur waise bhi, aap ne mujhe aise bulaya hi kyun? Cloudy weather tha iss liye jaldi chala gaya, just because main ek important meeting miss naa kardu. Aur aap hain ki!", Mayank angrily said in one go and got frustrated.

"Bro, birthday ke din koi kaam karta hain kya? Listen, aaj apka birthday hain and that's more important than ur work! So better calm down and today we will have lots of fun!", Gunjan said and her expressions turned from firm to excitement.

"Gunjan! It was an important meeting!", Mayank informed Gunjan sternly. "Mujhse bhi jyada? Mere khushi se bhi jyada?", Gunjan asked him innocently and her eyes were filled with tears. This was enough to melt Mayank! "Gunji, dekh rona mat, umm accha theek hain, main boss ko bol deta hoon ki I wont come today.", saying that, Mayank smiled.

Shilpa and Gunjan grinned and stood up. Gunjan jumped in Mayank's arms and hugged him. "Thanks bro. Love u a lot and once again Happy Birthday," she said cutely. Mayank giggled seeing his sister's childishness, said, "Thanks Gunji" and enveloped her in his arms. Gunjan winked and gestured a thumb up sign at Shilpa, which Mayank hadn't seen as his back was facing Shilpa. Shilpa chuckled and murmured in her breath, "Nautanki!"

After the siblings broke their hug, Gunjan said in glee, "So, today evening, we will have a grand party. After all its my dashing bro's birthday!" "Yaayy", Shilpa said joyfully and Mayank laughed seeing the two important women of his life, happy!

"Riddhi, Nupur ko bol ready hone ke liye. Mere friend ke ghar mein ek party hain, humhe waha jana hain.", Radhika Bhushan informed her daughter Riddhima. "Abhi keheti hoon maa!", she replied sweetly and walked to Nupur's room, taking small and careful steps, so that she might not fall down.

Touching the things around her and feeling them, she entered Nupur's room. "Nupur, kaha hain tu?", she asked loudly, and got a reply. "Riddhi, main washroom mein hu!" Hearing Nupur, Riddhima sat on the bed slowly. Just then, she heard the sounds of the birds which brought a huge smile on her face. She stood up and realized that the sound was coming from the right, where the window was. She turned to that side and moving her hands in the air, she walked straight.

When she reached near the window, the drops of rain fell on her face and she smiled wider. "Sham ho gayi phir bhi barish ho rahi hain. Lagta hain bhagwan ji aaj kuch jyada hi khush hain.", she said and chuckled at her thought. She extended her hand outside and felt the raindrops on her palm, and after a while, she threw them on her face. "Bhagwan ji, kash main aap ke iss pyaari si dunia ko dekh paati. I wish if I cud!", she said and frowned.

Suddenly, she felt the touch of a familiar palm under her hand. "Tu yeh dunia meri aakho se dekhegi Riddhi.", said Nupur in an affectionate way and Riddhima felt her heart content. "Aur teri aakho se yeh dunia bohot khubsurat hain Nupur!", said Riddhima with a soft smile and then both the sisters enjoyed the rain fully by standing there and throwing the raindrops on each others' face.

When they were done, they walked inside with Nupur holding Riddhima's hand. Riddhima sat on the bed, while Nupur brought a towel and sat beside her. One by one, they wiped the water off their faces. "Ohhoo, jo kehene aayi thi woh toh bhul gayi!", Riddhima said as something struck her mind. "Kya?", Nupur confusedly asked.

"Maa ki friend ke ghar mein party hain so maa ne tujhe ready hone ke liye kaha hain!", Riddhima informed Nupur happily. "Theek hain, tu bhi ready ho jaa!", Nupur said. "Nahi yaar main nahi jayungi. Tu toh janti hain, itni bhir mein..", Riddhima sadly said.

"Main tere saath rahungi, I promise! Abhi chal! Please, mere khatir! Waise bhi maa toh apne friends mein busy hongi toh phir main kya karungi? Please aaja!", Nupur pleaded and finally Riddhima had to give up. "Fine!", she said and smiled, and then, they started getting ready for the party.

The Sharma House was crowded with different types of people. Party music was being played in the background. Gunjan was chatting with her college friends and Mayank was talking with someone over his phone. Shilpa was hosting the guests and impatiently waiting for someone. "Kaha rehe gaye yeh log? Jaldi se aa jaye phir *pause* I hope Mayank iss ke liye maan jaaye.", she thought in mind and prayed to God.

The Bhushan ladies were entering in a house. "Maa, aap aur Nupur jao, main abhi aati hu!", Riddhima said. "Par Riddhi, tu aise akeli?!", Nupur worriedly said to Riddhima. "Nupur, don't worry, tu jaa, main abhi aati hu, I just need to make a call to someone.", said Riddhima and assured her mom and her sister that she would be fine. Radhika and Nupur agreed at the end and they went inside. "Bhagwan ji, please meri help karna. Main jo kar rahi hu woh sahi hain and I hope ki Nupur jyada gussa naa ho, akhir main yeh uss ke valaai ke liye kar rahi hu.", thought Radhika in mind. She was really nervous!

Waving her hands upwards, Riddhima walked at a corner. Worriedly, she took out her phone from her purse. Moving her fingers over the key buttons, she told herself, "Number tha 406797443..yes i remember!" Counting the buttons with full concentration, she dialed her desired number and sighed in relief when she heard the ringing tones."Ria, tu theek toh hain naa? Pooja bata rahi thi ki tera accident ho gaya. Are u fine now?", she asked in a single breath, after the call was received. Ria answered sweetly, "Don't worry Riddhima, main theek hu, bas kuch kharoche aayi hai aur kuch nahi. Tu fikar mat kar."

Riddhima smiled in satisfaction and said, "Chal theek hain, apna khayal rakhna aur main Nupur ke help se tujhe jaldi hi mail karungi. Bye!", and then she cut off the call. "Thank god she's fine!", she said. She smiled beautifully when she thought about Ria and Pooja - her school friends who were settled in abroad at present.

Shaking her hand and freeing herself from the worries she had a moment ago, she turned around and walked inside carefully so that she might not bump with anyone, but unfortunately, she bumped with a guy and was about to fall, but the next moment, she felt herself in the pair of his strong arms. Her breaths got heavy due to fear, while the pair of blue eyes of that guy were deeply staring at her angelic face.
