Part 4
As Maan came into the outhouse he still saw his wife sleeping peacefully on the bed! Maan gently sat besides her in a bid not to wake her up. How angelic she looked? How she innocent is she? I shouldn't have gone this far. I should have at least listened to her once. I should have accused her of betraying her love; I have made a mockery of my divine relation. I don't know how much time you will take to forgive me this time; but I will do everything in my power to see that you forgive me. I will Geet.
I promise to love you; cherish you for the lifetime! I promise to keep you happy and this time no one can separate Maan and Geet! Not even destiny!
He very softly placed a palm on her forehead as to not disturb her. And he realized something:
Maan: "Geet tumhe to bukhaar hai; woh bhi bahut tez. Sab kuch meri wajah se hua hai; na main tumhe woh saare cheeziedn kehta; na tum behosh hoti aur na tumhe bukhar chadhta. Saari meri galti hai."
And in the moment all he could do was now repent. He had to act fast and now. He needed to call a doctor; but he realized that no doctor will come at this time of the night. I have to do something. I can't tell Dadima also. She will unnecessarily take tension.
And he remembered Dadima applying wet cloth over his forehead when he was small and an idea struck him. He rushed to the kitchen and returned with a bowl of ice cold water. He sat next to her and pressed the wet cloth against her hot body to absorb the heat. Geet shivered with the sudden coldness. Maan grasped her hand and said;
Maan: "Geet main jaanta hoon ki paani bahut thanda hai par tuimhe thoda dard sehna hoga. Ek baar tumhara yeh bukhaar kam ho jaayega; tumhe yeh thandi sehni hogi geet."
"Aur jab tak tumhara yeh bukhaar kam nahi hota main yahan se kahin nahi jaoonga."
And after about an hour; he realized that her temperature was lowering and he heaved a sigh of relief. I need to go; she will not like the fact that I shared bed with her. And hence decides to leave when her dupatta gets stuck in his wrist watch. Suddenly all their moments flash before his eyes like a film.
Maan: "Ab to kismet bhi nahi chahti ki main yahan se chala jaoo. Main yahin rahoonga; apni Geet ke paas."
And in a bid to remove the dupatta he woke her by mistake. A smile spread across her face as she whispered,
"Maan'" and reached out to him. He guided her hand to his cheek and held it there as he too smiled down at her. Her response to him gave him a glimmer of hope. He knew that his Mishty was there with him now. He kept her hand close to his cheek and she caressed it lightly. He felt a surge of emotions run through him. He lifted her hand and placed a kiss. She said;
Geet: "Maan aap aa gaye. Main jaanti thi; ki aap aayenge. Aisa bhala ho sakta hai ki aapki geet mushkil main ho aur uska maan na aaye? Maan kahan the aap itne dinon tak? Sirf main jaanti hoon ki yeh samay kaise bita hai. Geet mar sakti hai lekin apne Maan ko kabhi khud se door nahi rakh sakti. Bahut koshish ki maine ki main aapko bhool jaoo; bahut koshish ki main aapke baare main na sochoon; par main haar gayi Maan. Geet apne Maan se ek pal bhi door nahi reh sakti. Aapke bina zindagi ka koi astitva nahi Maan. Aapki Geet haar gayi; aapke saamne; aapke pyaar ne use hara diya. "
Maan: "Haan Geet main aa gaya. Mujhe maaf kardo; maine job hi kaha uske liye. Maine jo bhi office main kahan uske liye; main tumse maafi maangta hoon. Us waqt jo mujhe sahi laga wo maine kiya. Kyunki main nahi jaanta tha ki maine tumhare saath saat phere liye hai. Aur jab Dadima ne bataya to mujhe yakeen ho gaya. Geet mujhe eik mauka de do. Main sab kuch theek kar doonga. Ek mauka to maang raha hoon."
Hearing him say that, her heart smiled as she weakly reached for his face. When he touched her hand and guided it to his face, she felt his love and it filled her joy. He remembered her, her Dusht Danav was back, her husband was back ' her Maan was back.
Maan ki Geet!
Geet just looked up at him; straight into his eyes; in his eyes she could see that he'd changed. His eyes held the same warmth and love that her Maan's had held for her. She made her way into his arms and she snuggled up more to him. She buried her face in his chest and was crying inconsolably. All the pain, the anger, the love, her feelings for Maan had mixed up. She didn't know what to do. She moved towards Maan with tearful eyes and removed all her frustration by punching and slapping Maan. And Maan didn't stop her this time; he knew that this was the only way she can wash away all the pain; the anger; the angst; the tears she had chocked up inside her. Saying this she hugged him tight; to again be in his muscular arms and find the peace she was trying to for the past months.
Sobbing in his arms; her head perfectly under his chin; she continued; Maan stay with me; till eternity. Till death does us apart; and he immediately shut her mouth by his hands. He even couldn't think of her death now. He was trying to remember their life; but he couldn't and he just let her stay with himself. He tucked her in the blanket. Gave a quick peck on her forehead; said good night and was about to switch the lights off when he felt his arm tugged. Geet made him sit next to her. She told him that unless she feels asleep; he should stay next to her. He followed her instructions and sat besides her. He was very lovingly stroking her hair until she fell asleep. As he was about to get up and head out of the room; he realized that his fingers were entwined with hers. He had no option other than sleeping next to her. He once again looked loving at her innocent face; gave her a good night kiss and slept next to her. The much in love couple had finally found peace in each other's embrace.
The sun rays entering their room through the curtains woke up Geet from her deep sleep. She found that Maan was sleeping next to her. She was still in his arms. He was sleeping and looked so innocent. The sun rays adding to his charm. And once again his arms were protectively around her waist. It had been days since they both shared such intimacy. All she did was touched his cheek lightly and said a lovely good morning. And then suddenly realizing where she was; she drew back. She couldn't be so close to him. Her movements woke Maan up and he too didn't realize that what was happening? He was feeling guilty of being so near to her.
But before he could speak she said something that left him wondering.
Geet: "Maan aap yahan? Maan Singh Khurana ko yeh baat shobha nahi deti ki woh ek mamuli employee ke liye; aapna waqt zaya kare. Aap yahan se chale jaayiye."
Maan was shocked out of his wits. She told me to leave? And what happened yesterday between us; was nothing? I have accepted you as my wife Geet. And we were happy in our world! How can you Geet? And then the realization dawned upon him; she was in a vulnerable state. She can't remember anything.
Maan was frustrated now; they had sorted out their differences; she had forgiven him and now she isn't ready to even face him?
But before he could speak she said something that left him wondering.
Geet: "Maan I am sorry. Mujhe aapke itne kareeb rehne ka haq nahi hai."
Maan: "Geet yeh kya keh rahi ho? Kal sabkuch jaane ke baad; tumne mujhe maaf kiya tha. Aur aaj keh rahi ho ki main yahan se chala jaoo?"
Geet: "Haan Maan main yahin chahti hoon. Agar kabhi bhi aapne hamare rishte ko ahmiyat di hai; to yahan se jayiye. Sikh liya aapke bina jeena Geet ne. Jayiye."
She nearly pushed him away. He was in tears but he left the room.
Geet was in tears now. She couldn't believe the fact that she herself pushed her life away from her. But I can't suffer heartbreak Maan. I can't.
Geet: "Maan main dobara ummeed nahin jagana chahti apne man main. Nahin toot sakti. Nahin dobara apne sapnon ko tootte dekh sakti hoon. Hamara alag rehan hi theek hai."
She got up and then she realized that she better keep a watch on Maan. She knew he can hurt himself in anger. He can go to any length. He can torture himself. She knew she had to go there. And then she spotted him; doing his kickboxing. She was yet again mesmerized by his sculpted body; she couldn't see him in pain. He was hurting himself; and she knew the reason. It was because of her. He gave me pain; and that's why he is hurting himself. And then she saw him crumbling.
Maan: "Yeh kya keh diya Geet tumne? Sab kuch jaane ke baad; main tumhe apnana chahta tha aur ek pal main paraya kar diya apne Maan ko. Ek pal main keh diya ki chale jayiyee meri zindagi se. Ek pal bhi ehsaas nahi hua ki main kya chahta hoon? Tum badal gayi ho Geet. Tum meri Geet nahi ho; woh Geet nahi ho jise shayad maine pyaar kiya. Aur tumne saabit kar diya; ki tum jabse meri zindagi se chali gayi ho; main firse wahi Maan Singh Khurana ban gaya hoon. Main tumhara Maan nahi Geet."
He picked up their wedding photo; hugged it tight. And gently kissed it.
"Main nahi jaanta ki mujhe kabhi kuch yaad ayega ki nahi; par itna vishwas to rakh sakti thina; ki main sab kuch theek kar doonga. Maine tumhe hamesha ke liye kho diya Geet. Aaj Maan haar gaya. Aaj Maan ne hamesha ke liye apni zindagi; apna pyaar; apna wajood kho diya hai. Main nahi jaanta ki ab hamari manzil kya faisla karti hai hamara."
Saying this he was about to walk up to his room when Geet ran and hugged him tight. She didn't say a word; but only their eyes talking. She had finally understood his pain; his angst; his love!
Geet: "Geet ne Maan ko maaf kiya. Aur ab khood ko yoon takleef nahi pahunchayenge. Maan ki Geet!"
She continued;
Geet: "Maan agar aapko kuch yaad aayega ki nahi main nahi jaanti; par hum nayi yaadien banayenge. Aur dekhna jab tak aap mere saath hai; Geet takleef seh sakti hai; kyunki Geet ka wajood Maan se hai. Sirf aapse. Geet ka Maan!"
He gave her the Khandaani Kada that Dadima had given him and kissed her hand! And then with his blood that was oozing out from his hand; he applied her sindoor! And in true sense she was Maan ki Geet!
