Our childhood, I still remember, was beautiful.

We used to have mud fights after every rain and push each other off of the swings at the park. When we reached middle school, you got into a habit of flirting with every other girl you saw just to annoy me. You used to play all your dumb pranks on me when you could've clearly attacked the rest of our gang which included my sister, Anjali Di, Muskaan, Atul and Rahul.

"Give me that chocolate." You as a seven-year-old order me.

"No." I reply taking another bite of the chocolate.

"Riddhima?"

"Yes, Armaan?"

"Chocolate?"

"Please and Thank You are the magic words!" I sing from this Barney movie I had watched.

You frown. "Please?"

I break off a piece of the chocolate and give it to you.

"Thank you!"

"You're welcome!" I say sweetly and we run off to play tag.

"Hello, ladies!" You give a flirting smile to a group of girls in grade eight. I smack your arm. "Oww! You might be a girl but you got the punch of a man! What the hell was that for?!"

"For god's sake, Armaan. Have you even looked at your age. You're twelve. They're fourteen!"

"Your point, m'lady?" You say giving me a flirty smile.

"My point is that YOU need to find a girl who is YOUR age. Got it?" I make a face at you and walk away saying this. You run after me.

"Okay? So can you help me with that?"

"With what?"

"Finding a girl who is apparently my age." You smile your crooked smile.

I make a sarcastic face at you. "Very funny." I reply.

"Ooohhh!! Something's burning!"

"No, Armaan, not funny."

"I wasn't trying to be."

"Good. 'Cuz news flash! You're not funny!"

"Oh come on now, Ridzy!" You hold me by my arm.

"What!"

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Ha-Ha. Very funny." I make an annoyed face.

"I'm not joking.

"What?"

"What?"

"Girlfriend?"

"Yeah'why? You have a problem with that?"

"Yes!"

"What's the problem?"

"The fact that you're totally OUT of your MIND!"

"No, I'm not. You're pretty. I know you. You're my age. Check, check, check! Yep, you're mine!"

"Really?" I ask.

"Really."

I go up close to your face.

"Are you sure, Armaan?" I say dreamily.

"Yes, Riddhima." You reply the same way.

"You want me," I point to myself. "To be your girlfriend?"

"Yes, Ridz."

"Well, then'" I go closer to your face. We're inches apart from each other.

"Well then'" You repeat after me.

"I'm sorry to say, Mr.-future-Dr. Armaan Malik," I say and jump away from you happily. "But your efforts have gone in vain!"

You seem a bit disturbed but get over it. I go to class with you following behind me.

"You will one day see the heart that beats for you, Miss Basket Ji!" You say as you sit down on the chair beside me.

"Maybe. But as for now, start reviewing your notes for the test. We're in math class. Remember?! Math class?"

You roll your beautiful ocean blue eyes at me. "Such a nerd." You mutter as you open up your binder.

I go closer to your ear and whisper, "I heard that and trust me'you will NOT be spared."
