Back Garden , Daksh's Mansion.

Having searched for her in the whole party, having no clue to where she could be and his dead heart swelling with questions and an impending heartbreak, Abhay comes away from the music and laughter of Daksh's grand party to the beautiful back lawns . He is agitated , confused , angry and he feel if he was to get his hands on Piya , he would strangle her and shove her , until she told him the truth.

Abhay ( ravaging a delicate primrose bush in anger)- Damn you, Piya! Where are you!

Just then, he senses someone coming up behind him . His nerves act up and his face tightens. He spins around and is stunned to see the familiar round face , big baby brown eyes and sneering curved mouth. Her lovely long silky black mane falling over her shoulders like a waterfall. Abhay would have easily mistaken her for Piya but she wasn't. Her hair and her black summer dress gave her away. Maithli'. She was Maithli . Standing in front of Abhay , the darkness of her soul overriding the beauty of her face , and her arms crossed against her chest. Abhay almost fell back in shock when he realized that he was looking into Maithli's eyes and not his precious Piya's.

Maithli ( fingering his cheek as he steps away from her )- Hello, loverboy'.

Abhay ( stepping into the shadows )- Maithli! What the hell are you doing here?...You are not supposed to be here, you fool! Piya is in this party too! What if somebody sees you? And' why have you come here?

Maithli ( calmly resting her back on the bark of a tree)- Chill, Abhay. I am a witch and I obviously did not walk through the gilded gates of Daksh's palace. I just' ( clicks her fingers in the air)' appeared. For you.

Abhay ( quizzically )- For me? Look, Maithli, I am in no mood to play brain draggers with you. Leave me alone. I will see you later'. ( getting agitated )'. I need to be left alone , okay?

Maithli ( glares at him )- You don't need to be left alone, my love. You need somebody to answer your questions and since Piya is not available' I thought' ( lights herself a cigarette and puffs it )' let me do the honours for old times' sake.

Abhay ( stunned )- You mean' you know what' (shakes his head to check if all this is happening for real)' you know what happened to me?

Maithli ( nods )- Yes. How would I not know, Abhay? After all, I am the mastermind who basically screwed your life , your love story with Piya , your memory '..( angry tears rising in her eyes but not falling out)' so that I could keep you as mine!

Abhay looks totally dazed and stunned as he cannot make sense of anything that Piya had said and what Maithli is saying. Its true that he had a strange gap in his memory and an emptiness in his heart but all this was sounding like Spanish to him. But one thing was clear that Maithli and Piya knew what had happened with him.

Abhay ( going near Maithli like a curious little boy )- My memory? As in MY MEMORY? I had a relationship with Piya? Your niece Piya? I '.( feeling his heart lurch and quiver )' I loved Piya?...( shakes her by her shoulders)' what did you do to me? TELL ME!

Maithli ( smiles )- Baby, am not a vamp that I would do something to hurt you. I just wanted you at any cost because I had lost you to Piya and her angelic soul'. ( grins)' its not me who did anything to you. It was Anushka'. And your precious Piya who turned you into a nutcase because I told them to. You know how much I hate stretched drama. So, yeah, Anushka erased your whole memory of having fallen in love with Piya ' the entire period that you were with her and Piya played along. Sad but I think Piya chose to save Anushka's life even if that meant screwing yours.

Abhay ( going cold as ice on this revelation )- You'. You mean to tell me that you, Anushka and Piya'you guys have freakin' manipulated my memory? '.( shoves Maithli hard)' so that you can have me and I forget Piya?

Maithli ( aggressively )- YES! YES! YES! So, now that you know the truth , whatcha gonna do , vampire? '.You belonged to me , Abhay but you forgot me and found solace in my doppelganger! Why'. ( shaking him by his collar )' just because I ws selfish? SO WHAT? My love was true enough!

Abhay ( ferociously )- I want my life back, Maithli. Your pathological obsession has cost me my sanity ! '..Give my memory back to me!

Maithli ( sneering )- Oops and double oops, darling. I cannot give you your memory back '..Anushka's magic can't ne undone by anyone, don't you know that? Remember your last visit to Bloodstone Dungeon?...Well, that is when she did the clean up job!

Abhay is so shell shocked by these revelations that he slumps on a marble bench , his ice blues dilating and his face a spasm of shock , pain and disbelief. Maithli comes and sits next to him.

Abhay ( closing his eyes )- Get up.

Maithli ( rejoicing in his pain )- Trying to recall your lost life and your life with Piya? '.Hurts much , doesn't it, Abhay?

Abhay ( clenching his fists )- Maithli , I said get up. Get up and get out of my sight! RIGHT NOW!

Maithli ( poking his wounds )- Does it hurt a lot, Abhay? To love someone madly but not remember a thing about your love story with them ?...GOOD! Feel it! So that you know how I felt when you were with me but yearned for Piya all the bloody time!

Abhay loses control over his temper and his fangs sprining out and pupils diluting , he grabs Maithli by the neck , spanks her to the ground and overpowers her with a growl . Blinded by fury , he is about to dig his fangs into a struggling Maithli's neck when he hears a familiar voice that goes beyond his temper , straight into his heart.

Piya ( running into the lawn horrified )- ABHAY! Leave her!...NOW!

Abhay looks at her as she rushes to him ' no fear of his vampire form or his anger . He looks at her and the internal hurt and his feelings for Piya take over and the animal in him begins to step back. Piya comes to him and holds his arms, pulling him away to get up from over Maithli.

Piya ( horrified )- Abhay , just leave her , okay? Please!

Abhay gets up and Piya is still in shock of what she just saw. What was Maithli doing here? What happened ! Maithli springs back to her feet and gets away from Abhay and Piya , rubbing her neck and coughing for breath.

Piya (in puzzled shock )- Maithli! H-How did you come here?...And Abhay you'

Even before Piya can finish her sentence , Abhay jerks her by her arm and pulls her close , clutching her by her shoulders so hard that Piya is sure that the blood circulation just stopped in her body. Abhay's eyes are worse than a horror scene one would catch now and then on TV . Piya is so stunned to see that look on Abhay's face that she almost forgets to breathe.

Abhay ( seething into her face )- Do you love me, Piya?

Piya ( every nerve in her body giving away )- A-Abhay'

Abhay ( shaking het hard as Maithli gleefully watches the drama unfold )- ANSWER ME! DO YOU LOVE ME, PIYA?

Piya ( terrified and on an emotional precipice)- I do! I do! I do! I love you , Abhay! Happy?

As soon as Piya says that , a look of mistrust and disgust takes over his angry face.

Abhay ( with devilishly broken voice )- I would have been happy , Piya, if you would have trusted me over Maithli's threats and thought twice before playing with my life!...( Piya's face crumbles in slow horror )'..look at you , look at me. We love each-other but I don't REMEMBER a single thing! 'Why? Because that woman's mad obsession staked my life and you, who I love with whatever I have set the stake on fire!

Piya , almost tripping on her own feet in shock , look back at Maithli and she nods at her in fiendish victory.

Piya ( keeping her eyes open so that she doesn't faint )- Maithli .. you'

Maithli ( bursting out )- I told him! I told him that I wrecked his life and you , his precious Piya chose Anushka over him and kept quiet while he went mad in circles right in front of you!

Piya turns back to Abhay and she can feel her heart coming to her mouth because she is hit by the reality that the situation is no longer in her hands and Maithli has ruined everything .

Piya ( her voice quivering as she holds Abhay's ice cold hands )- Listen to me, Abhay. She is'

Abhay ( looking into her eyes like a judge and his voice threatening to break down with emotional force )- Did you choose Anushka over me? Yes or no?

Piya ( sensing that Abhay is fast slipping away)- Will you listen to me for once?

Abhay ( raising his voice )- YES OR NO?

Piya ( bursting into tears )- YES! Because I wanted to keep Anushka alive! Even if that meant sacrificing my love for you.

Abhay takes his hands away from Piya and steps in shadows as Maithli looks on , watching Piya go down.

Abhay ( retreating into an invisible shell )- You sacrificed me, Piya' you sacrificed me. You didn't trust me to save Anushka from Maithli ''and look what you have done to me' ( feeling broken and helpless)'. I am a WRECK, Piya. I no longer know who you are and what we are because you took a decision for both of us that ruined my life! '.( trying not to cry or do anything that draws everyone's attention in the party at distance )' I need to get out of here'. Out of the sight of you two'..before I go totally crazy and do something insane!

Abhay turns on his heels and runs like a bullet into the dark as Piya screams his name and falls on her knees , shattered. Maithli , with a pursed grin on her face looks at Piya'.

Maithli ( disappearing into thin air )- The price of loving Abhay is not your heart , Piya'. Its your life!

Piya keeps sitting on the lush grass, like a statue , away from the laughter and lights of the party and her own heart's light dying out'.
