"JD is upset with you."
"Why is JD upset with me?"
"Because he doesn't understand why you won't call using Skype. He wants to see you when you talk."
"Geet, you know I don't like to use things like that. What's wrong with talking on the phone?"
"Maan, there's nothing wrong with talking on the phone, except that he can't see you." Hearing Maan's grumbling, Geet laughed. "If you want to blame something, blame Naintara Di. She's the one who suggested that JD keep in contact with them through Skype. Now he's so used to it, he wants to use it for anyone when they're away."
"How about, since you are the one who looks after JD, I just blame you."
Geet's mouth dropped open, and she responded angrily, "Blame me! You...you dusht danaav. I suppose you think that it would be better if someone else took care of him. Should I start advertising for a nanny? I could have a new one lined up by the time you get back!"
Maan had only been kidding, so he was a little surprised at how upset Geet sounded. He quickly assured her that he didn't mean it, and of course no one could do a better job of looking after JD than her. Geet didn't want to listen, and insisted that if he had a problem, she would find someone else. Maan began to panic and started threatening to tell Dadi, when Geet burst out laughing.
"Maan, you actually took me seriously? You are just too funny! Did you honestly think I would be able to give up looking after JD? Like, really? How could I leave my cute little JD. No, it's impossible."
"Geet! You were playing a joke on me?"
"Well, Mr. MSK, it served you right. Blaming me, hah!"
"Okay, okay, we both were teasing each other, now let's just forget it."
Geet agreed and asked Maan, "So how have you been occupying yourself in the evenings? Have you been going to any French restaurants, invited to any clubs?"
"No, I've been having room service deliver dinner. Geet, why are you asking me this? You know what I've been doing, I've been emailing back and forth with you, trying to keep up to date with stuff in the office."
"But what do you do later? You're not emailing me the whole entire evening before you go to sleep. You must be doing something to pass the time, reading, watching tv, sight seeing, something."
"Sight seeing? SIGHT SEEING! Geet this is a business trip, not a vacation. The only thing I do besides working is use the hotel's gym, and call you."
Geet gasped and muttered under her breath, "I knew it. I knew it! He goes to the gym. What does he need to go to the gym for? It's probably full of females showing too much skin, hoping to snatch up any good looking man. He should know better than to go someplace where women will ogle him. Dusht danaav!"
Geet thought that she was speaking soft enough, but Maan could still hear every word she said perfectly. He couldn't help but smile at the irritation that was evident in her tone of voice. He decided to have some fun with her.
"Geet, did you say something?"
"Uh, no, nothing."
"No, I'm sure I heard you say something. What was it? Something about women and ogling..."
Geet wrinkled her nose and pouted when she heard his chuckle. "Go ahead, make fun of me. But you better not pay attention to any of those women who check you out. In fact, you better not pay attention to any women, otherwise..."
"Otherwise? Otherwise what? Come on Geet, tell me. What will you do?"
"First, I will scratch out their eyes, and then I will do something so horrible to you, something so awful, that...that..."
Maan laughed, making Geet even angrier. "It's not funny! You are only mine! They don't have a right to look at you and fantasize about how hot you look in gym clothes."
"You think I look hot in gym clothes?"
"What? No...I..."
"Geet, I clearly heard you. That's what you said. That, and you were definitely sounding jealous."
Geet started stammering. "Jealous...No...why...why would I be...be jealous?"
"Why indeed. You know, Geet, that I don't care about any other girl. The only one I care about is my beautiful Mishti."
Having rendered Geet speechless, Maan grinned and said, "God, I miss you so much, Mishti!"
Trying to overcome her embarrassment at Maan's words, Geet asked, "If you miss me so much, then why did you go away, huh?"
"Geet, this was an important trip. I had to come."
"Well, I don't like it when you go away. I feel strange when you're not home."
Maan grinned again. His Mishti was was really the sweetest girl ever.

"Geet, I can not tell you how happy I will to get home."
"I know, I'll be so happy to see you too."
"That's not what I mean." Geet's mouth opened in shock, but before she could blast him, Maan continued, "Everywhere I go, all I hear is Royal wedding this, Royal wedding that. It's everywhere on the news, everyone is talking about it, and it's even pervading the airport."
Maan sounded so perturbed that Geet couldn't be upset with him. "Oh, poor baby. Don't like weddings?"
Maan was about to answer yes in frustration, but then considering his own dilemma of proposing, changed his response. "No, I like weddings, but only when I know the people involved. If I don't even know the people getting married, why would I be interested?"
"Well, I doubt you're going to get much relief once you get home, 'cause the wedding is all over the news here too. Dadi is really interested, because apparently she knows a few people who were invited."
Maan complained a bit more before asking Geet to change the subject. She decided to tell him about JD and how they had invited Jake over a few times to play. She was really happy that JD was starting to be more interested in playing with a friend, and Maan was happy that she was happy. Eventually he had to get off the phone because it was time to leave to board his plane.

Geet, JD and Dadi were all sitting in the O'Hare airport, waiting for Maan. His plane had arrived, but he hadn't come through the gates yet. JD was busy telling Dadi all about his day at school when Geet saw him. She was so glad that he was finally back safe and sound after being gone for a whole week. Without even thinking she jumped out of her seat and started running, calling his name over and over.
Maan smiled when he saw Geet coming towards him. He set down his briefcase and opened his arms wide when she near. Geet jumped into his embrace, hugging him as tightly as she could. Before he could even say hello, Geet pulled his face towards hers and kissed him hard. It was unexpected, but not unwanted. Maan tightened his arms around Geet and kissed her back.
