A Maaneet Tale
Hi guys. I am discontinuing 'My Other Half' as I have ran out of idea's and I don't know what to do with the FF. So please don't be angry and I hope you understand 😳
Chapter 6
I wanted to go to the temple and thank Baabaji for taking care of me while I was in hospital. So I told Maan and asked him if he wanted to come.
Maan: "No. I don't believe in that stuff" he said in a flat tone and looked straight ahead. I shrugged and exited the car. Of course, he was Maan Singh Khurana.
When I reached the temple, I prayed for my family and for Maan. I wanted my family to rest in peace and for Maan... I don't know why I prayed for him. I just wanted him to be happy.
As I was exiting the temple, the priest came up to be and handed me some sort of necklace. I looked at it and realized it was a Taveez.
Priest: "Your soulmate is near you. Keep this Taveez. It will lead you to him" he said and handed it over to me. He excused himself as I was left wondering what this Taveez would do. I looked conciously beside and behind myself in case my 'soulmate' was standing right behind me but nobody was there except for a few ladies. I stared at the twirling necklace and hid it in my palm safely.
I sat inside Maan's car and looked ahead in a daze. My soulmate was near me. Who could it be? I never realized Maan was speaking to me until he tapped my knee. I broke out of my trance and blinked.
Maan: "Do you realize I have been calling for you for the past five minutes" he said angrily as he changed the gears.
"Sorry... I was just... Just thinking about my family that's all. What were you asking me?" I lied and looked at him questioningly
Maan: "Nothing" he scoffed and shook his head. I shrugged and looked out the window. I jumped when I saw a gol gappe cart.
"Maan! Stop the car. Now. Or I'm gonna kill you" I said as I stared longingly at the cart. My mouth started watering immediately and I bit my lip to control my cravings.
Maan: "What now?" he asked and sighed.
"I want to eat gol gappe" I squealed and jumped out of the car before he could stop me. I went up to the cart.
"Bhai, gol gappe dena. Or ha, spicy hona chahiye" I said quickly. He handed me over a plate and I popped one into my mouth and closed my eyes in amazement. It was delicious. I opened my eyes and saw Maan sir standing beside me, looking at the time on his watch.
"Hai Baabaji" I mumbled to myself and held one near his mouth. He shook his head and looked away from me. I pinched his nose and popped one inside his mouth.
"Gee --" he half said my name with a full mouth, irritated. But he widened his eyes as he swallowed.
Maan: "Give me more. Now" he ordered the guy at the cart. I smiled in satisfaction and knew he liked it. When we had enough we went back to the car.
I opened the door of my car and sat down. When I looked at Maan who was sitting next to me, he was holding a bouquet of white roses.
"This..."
Maan: "It's just a little something I bought. I thought you might like roses..." he trailed off and handed them to me. I held the bouquet with both my hands. I loved the fragrance that wafted from it.
"Thanks Maan. How did you know that white roses were my favourite?" I asked and looked at him.
Maan: "I didn't know... I just guessed" he said and I swore I saw a faint shade of pink form on his cheeks. I smiled and held the bouquet close to me.
When my flat had arrived, I gave a warm smile to Maan before leaving.
I picked up the necklace and realized it wasn't any ordinary necklace. It was a Taveez. I frowned at the necklace and stared at it, twirling left and right. I didn't know what to do with it. I could go up to Geet's flat and hand it in but some sort of strange feeling inside of me told me to keep it.
I sighed and just shoved it into my pocket. I shall return it to Geet when I see her at office tomorrow.
The first thing I done was go into the kitchen and have breakfast. I poured down some cereal for myself and sat down on a chair to eat it.
I started to daydream again. I started to wonder where my soulmate was. Where he could be hiding. The Taveez.
Where did it go?
I felt my neck in case I had put it on, but I hadn't. I felt the pocket of my pajamas in case I put it in there in my sleep, but it wasn't there. I quickly got up and looked frantically around my bedroom. I even looked under my mattress but it wasn't anywhere.
Maybe it fell somewhere.
I sighed and sat down with my cereal bowl again. I needed time to think. I needed to remember where I must've put it.
I sighed when my brain refused to remember anything. I munched on my cereal and put the bowl in the sink. I decided to clean it later. Right now I couldn't be bothered washing the dishes. I will force myself to do it tonight.
I brushed my teeth, got fresh, put some fresh clothes on, and hit the streets. I hailed for a rickshaw as usual, and arrived at Khurana Constructions.
I went inside the huge building and went into Sir's cabin to announce that I was attending office.
"Sir, what work do we have today?" I asked and held my notebook and pen. When I realized he was in a daze, I cleared my throat. Sir was the type of person who was strict and formal. He never daydreamed...
Maan: "Huh... Sorry. Look Geet, you left your necklace in the car" he said and fished it out from his pocket. He held it up for me to see and I gasped when I realized that I must've dropped the necklace when I held the bouquet.
It was with him.
"Thanks" I said and gulped when I reached out for it. I held it in my hands, the shiny metal blinding my eyes.
It was with HIM.
Precap: Party.
