Chapter 2

Anurag woke up, covered in sweat.

Wake up! His clock shrieked in his ear. Wake Up!

'What was that?' he asked himself, shuddering. That weird man in the black cloak had come in his dreams again.

You're not five anymore, he chided himself. You're not supposed to be having nightmares about the Boogeyman or whatever.

After showering and throwing on his favourite suit, he rushed downstairs. Thanks to the stupid visions of that stranger, he had been coming late to the office. Today was the first day for his new secretary. His fifteenth one, so far.

It was like he was cursed. His first secretary retired. His second one got a stroke. When he started employing younger ones they turned out to be inexperienced or just plain careless. Finally he gave up and decided that in a country full of people struggling for jobs, he was bound to find someone.

And now the H.R. department had found some woman who insisted on not revealing her surname. Well, it was her private matter. He respected other's eccentricities, considering he had many of his own. He only hoped she wasn't a fraud.

Much to his relief he reached office in time. Even when in a hurry, Anurag looked handsome. With his jet black hair and dark brown eyes and perfect physique, he was bound to attract attention. But Anurag had no time for girls swooning over him. He was only interested in two things: His business and keeping his younger brother Robbie out of trouble.

As he walked into his cabin, he froze.

Right in front of him, he could see a very pretty young girl, her tied up hair come undone, her fox-like eyes nervously looking around the cabin, her collar button open, going through his cabinet. Fury rose in him like the blood rushing to his cheeks in response to it.

'What the hell are you doing here?' he exploded. 'No one, no one comes into my cabin, goes through my files and just stares like that at me!' because that what was she was seeming to be doing.

The girl did not cower in fright dramatically or stutter out of nervousness. Instead she coolly said, 'Well I'm sorry, but if you are going to be so late, I hardly believe Superman is going to bring the files to your client?'

Anurag was speechless.

'I'm not late,' he said finally.

'Didn't they teach you in business school that the client never arrives dot on time, but either early or late? In this case the client is early. Think of time in the client's terms, Mr. Ganguly, not your own.' She dictated this as if she were his professor, not his employee.

'Taani, your secretary,' she said, taking her hand out forward.

'I do not wish to shake your hand,' he said, giving her one of his icy stares.

'No problem,' she said, a faint hint of a smile on her face.

Needless to say he knew that the HR head was in for some big trouble.

'She's rude, she backanswers and she's well rude!' said Anurag, annoyed to the exasperated HR head.

'But Mr. Ganguly, her credentials are perfect.' And you've finally met your match, 'bunny'.

'I don't care. Fire her,' said Anurag childishly.

Suddenly there was a phone call for him.

'Hello Mr. Ganguly?' said a deep voice on the phone. Anurag was confused. Why did he get the feeling he had heard this voice before?

'Yes?' he asked.

'I am speaking from 13 Cross Road. Your brother Robbie has been involved in a serious accident.'

Anurag froze. 'How did it happen?' he said in a panicky voice.

'A drunk driver crashed into his car.'

'Well, did you take down the car's number plate?' asked Anurag angrily.

'No, it speeded away before anyone could do so.'

'Shit!' said Anurag banging the phone. Then he gingerly picked it up and said, 'Hello?'

'We are taking him to St. Mary Hospital. Please come there.'

Anurag ran as fast as his legs would carry him, all the while thinking, Please God, please god, let him be okay, don't let anything happen to my baby brother.

As he was running towards the parking lot, he caught a glimpse of a tearful Taani.

'What are you doing out of office?' he asked.

'My friend, she was knocked down by a drunk driver while she was going to college,' said Taani, wiping away her tears, embarrassed on being caught crying by her boss.

'Is she at St. Mary's Hospital?' asked Anurag suddenly.

'Yes, but how do you…' said Taani.

'Let's just go,' he said hurriedly. She got into his car and they both went towards the hospital.

Meanwhile the man in the black coat stared at them.

Anurag and Taani met, Onu feels Taani is rude and arrogant..😆 So Onu has the record secretaries ..😆 Taani doesnt wanna disclose her surname and Onu doesnt care about it..🤔 Hmmmmm... He wants Taani fired... Damn, thats superfast... Robbie met with an accident and Taani's friend, I guess Mauli as well.. So Taani and Onu are going together... Haayyyyee😍 Im so loving this.... Black coat man staring at them😒 This looks more mysterious to me...
