Hello everyone

A sudden buzzing sound interrupted her sleep and her eyes flew open. Feeling disorientated for a few minutes, Ridhimmas eyes flickered from side to side as she tried to locate the place where the noise was coming from. She suddenly realized it was coming from her phone which was placed on the small console right next to their bed.

Ridhimma quickly grabbed it and glanced over at Sid who was still sleeping soundly next to her. Speaking as quietly as she could, not wanting to wake him, she answered the phone. It was a nurse from Sanjeevani, informing her about an emergency that had come into the hospital and which needed her attention.

Now completely awake, Ridhimma told the nurse she would be there soon. She glanced at the clock which showed the time as 2 am and then looked over at Sid who was fast asleep with his arms around her waist. A soft smile played around her lips as she looked at the innocent face of her husband sleeping like a baby. Almost automatically, her hand moved to his face, softly caressing his cheeks and his lips. This was her heaven, right here in her husbands strong arms. She didn't want to leave but she didn't have a choice. Sighing, she gingerly tried to remove his arms from her waist, but instinctively he tightened his hold on her in his sleep. She moved nearer to his cute face and softly kissed his lips. Sid stirred expectantly in his sleep and as his grip lessened, Ridhimma reluctantly slipped out from under his arms and ran into the bathroom.

Fifteen minutes later, showered and fresh, she was on her way to the hospital. As she drove through the quiet roads, illuminated only by the streetlamps, her thoughts flew back over the last few days.

Sue and Raj's wedding was like a dream and everything had gone smoothly. All the ceremonies and functions had gone off without a hitch and there had been nothing but happiness all round. The saddest part had been when it was time for Sue to leave. Mrs Modi had been inconsolable and even Mr. Modi cried uncontrollably as his only daughter left his arms. Although, Ridhimma had only known Sue for a short time, she was the younger sister she had always wanted and she had wept too.

But through this all, Sid was everyone's strength. He calmly soothed his parents and whispered words of love and comfort to his sister as she clung onto him not wanting to let go.

'Please take care of my sister Raj. Please don't ever let her cry,' and with these words Sid had gently placed his sister in the car next to her new husband and waved them off with tears in his eyes. Ridhimma had stood quietly next to Sid clasping his hands tightly, assuring him that she would always be by his side.

Slowly after that, all the guests had left with Katrina being the last to leave. Ridhimma had found a new friend in Katrina and had really enjoyed her company during the remaining days of the wedding to such an extent that sometimes they even ganged up together against Sid, much to his amusement. When it was time for Katrina to say goodbye to Sid, Ridhimma had unobtrusively slipped away leaving the 2 old friends to say farewell to each other. Although she knew Katrina still loved Sid, Ridhimma was secure in the knowledge that Sid was always hers .

I will always choose you.

Standing at the traffic lights waiting for the signal to turn green, Ridhimma smiled and blushed as she remembered those words. But it was the way Sid had looked at her when he had said them to her. It had made her feel alive and beautiful .

She giggled to herself as she remembered what had happened last night after they returned from the farmhouse. As soon as they had got to the door of the penthouse, Sid had swept her off her feet and carried her in. He then put her down gently and proceeded to kiss her with such passion it left her breathless. They had quickly unpacked and then made their way to the kitchen where they had jointly made pasta amidst lots of hugging, giggling and kissing. Sid just could not seem to get enough of Ridhimma's neck and she finally had to remind him that she was not the main course.

'But you are dessert,' teased Sid as he grabbed her by the waist and nibbled her ear.A laughing Ridhimma grabbed both his hands and dragged him to the dinner table. Once the pasta had been eaten, Sid had swept her in his arms once again and carried her to their bedroom ,where he had left her in no doubt how much he had missed having her in his arms all night at the farmhouse during the wedding.

Ridhimma finally arrived at the hospital and headed towards the reception where she bumped into Abhi. A big smile broke out on her face. As Dr.Shashank was not keeping so well, he had asked Abhi to come back and help him run the hospital to which he had agreed. Nikki was also rejoining the staff as senior Doctor and would be working alongside Ridhimma. Yuvi and Naina had returned back to London, but they had both realized that they missed India and their friends and had decided to return as soon as they could, but first they had to convince Naina's father.

'Buddhas going to kill me, 'Yuvi had forlornly told a laughing Sid,before he left.

'Oh good you're here Ridhimma,' said Abhi,' Nikki's already in the Operating theatre. Luckily its not as bad as it first looked. I think we should…..' as he explained, Ridhimma brought all her attention back to the task in hand and followed Abhi towards the OT.

Sid stirred as he felt the sun's rays trying to sneak through the curtains onto his face. He slowly opened his eyes and reached out his arm for his wife. Not finding her there, he sat up and saw the note left on the pillow.

'Emergency at the hospital my darling. I will see you later. All my love.'

Sid fell back onto the bed sighing deeply. He had so desperately wanted to wake up with Ridhimma in his arms. He looked over at the clock which showed the time to be 8 30. He knew that Ridhimma would not be back for hours. Even though the emergency would have been dealt with, knowing Ridhimma she would not leave her patient in anyone else's care until she was completely satisfied that he or she was fine. Suddenly a smile came to his face. Ever since they had got married he had never had the chance to pamper or surprise Ridhimma and today was his chance. He would plan something special just for the two of them. And he knew exactly what she would love. He jumped out of bed in excitement and headed for the shower making plans in his head.

Ridhimma rested her head against the desk , exhausted. She had been at the hospital for almost 12 hours now. The operation had been successful but she had stayed behind not wanting to leave until the patient was out of danger. Sid had been messaging her all morning telling her he loved her and missed her and that had kept her going. Now all she wanted to do was go home, and sleep in his arms. But unfortunately she didn't even seem to have the energy to walk to her car. The phone rang and even before she answered it she knew it was Sid calling.

'Hey gorgeous! Tired?'

'Hmmm,' Ridhimma could barely talk.

'Im coming to pick you up' Sid said simply.

'Okay,'replied Ridhimma sleepily, walking towards the couch which was in the in the corner of the office and kicking of her shoes just before she lay down.

Sid smiled to himself as he thought of the surprise he had prepared for her and knew it was perfect for how she was feeling. He picked up the keys and headed out towards the door to pick up his beautiful wife.

'Ridhimma, Ridhimma wake up!'

Ridhimma felt herself being shaken as she gently opened her eyes. She saw Nikki sitting on her knees calling her name softly.

'Ridhimma I know you're tired but I need you to meet someone.'

Ridhimma got up slowly and sat upright and noticed that there was someone standing behind Nikki.

'Ridhimma come and meet Panchi, Yuvi's cousin and our new intern. She's just arrived today'

Ridhimma looked at the pretty girl, with beautiful long brown hair who was smiling shyly at her. She remembered that Yuvi had told her and Sid that his cousin was joining Sanjeevani in place of Sue.

'She's a sweet, shy girl so please take care of her because she doesn't know anyone in Bombay,'Yuvi had told Ridhimma and Sid. Ridhimma had talked it over with her father, and it was agreed that when Panchi arrived she would stay with the Shashanks until she found a place to live.

'Hello Panchi, its lovely to meet you,'said Ridhimma warmly extending her hand to the demure girl.

'Its nice to meet you too Dr. Ridhimma. My cousin has told me so much about you.,' Panchi's voice was soft and sweet, 'It's really kind of your parents to let me stay with them.'

As the girls chatted and exchanged pleasantaries, Ridhimmas phone rang.

'Your chauffeur service is here Dr. Ridhimma,' Ridhimma smiled as she heard her husbands deep voice on the other end of the line, 'and I have instructions that if you are not out of the hospital in one minute, to come in there and carry you out. Your husband hasn't seen you for over 12 hours and is now desperate to take you in his arms.'

Ridhimma laughed and grabbed her bag.

'Please tell my husband I am on my way,' she giggled, giving Nikki and Panchi a quick wave and heading towards the exit of the hospital.

As she stepped out into the bright sunlight, she saw Sid leaning against the car which was parked on the other side of the road, looking devastatingly handsome in his white shirt and blue jeans and giving her the most gorgeous smile. Suddenly all the tiredness and stress that had built up in her body drained away as soon as she saw him. She waved at him smiling widely, as he blew her a kiss as they walked towards each other. Ridhimma had just reached the middle of the road when she suddenly tripped on a small stone. Her phone flew out of her hand and fell a few feet away. She walked towards it and bent to pick it up.

All this while, Sid was walking towards her.

He heard the car before he saw it.

Looking in the direction of the noise, he saw the car being driven erratically straight towards Ridhimma.

He didn't even have time to take her name.

His feet reacted automatically as he ran towards her.

She had just finished picking up the phone and straightening up when she heard the screech of the tyres. She looked in horror at the car heading straight towards her. She couldn't move….it was as if she was rooted to the stop. She looked towards Sid and saw him running towards her.

She saw the terror in his eyes.

The car was nearly upon Ridhimma when Sid reached her and pushed her out of the way. As she fell on the ground she heard a 'thud' and then silence. She looked towards where Sid had been standing a second ago but she couldn't see him. All she could see was the car which seemed to have hit something. Her eyes searched frantically for Sid. She tried to get up but her legs gave way again.

'Sid,' she whispered,'Sid.'

Making one last final effort she managed to push herself off the floor and walk unsteadily towards the car.

And then she saw him.

He was lying on the road, unmoving, in a pool of blood.

As Ridhimma reached Sid, she knelt on the ground and gently took him in her arms.

'Please don't leave me, please don't leave me,' Ridhimma whispered over and over again as she cradled his motionless body in her arms.

Zeenia thank you so much for ur amazing update. OMG pls nooo dont let anything happen to Sid. How can we all hang on like this. talk about cliffhanger.
