Chapter Fifteen (a)
"I am so in love with Nupur." He stood on his bed.
Mayank: I hate myself.
He said falling back on his bed.
While lying on his bed he started thinking of Nupur again.. He puts his pillow on his face and says "Urgh" and sleeps.
The next morning, Nupur woke up earlier. Because she knew that Mayank wouldn't wake by himself. Therefore, she went and knocked Mayank's door.
And voice came out, "What is it." It was none-other than Mayank. His irritated voice shouted "Whose there?"
Nupur: Mayank main hoon.
Mayank: Main so raha hoon Nupur.
Nupur: Mr. Late latif aik baar darwaza toh kholo na!!
Mayank opened the door, yawning.
Mayank: Kya hua Nupur?
Nupur: Subah ho chuki hai.
Mayank: Acha!! Maine socha ke sooraj ne apni timing badal li. Thanks for reminding me Nupur.
He said sarcastically.
Nupur: Uthte hi mazak shuru.. yeh ladka bhi na. Huh. Main bhi tumhe koi good morning kehne nahi ayi hoon. Main toh bas itna kehne aayi hoon ke 8:45 ho chuke hain aur tumhe 9:00 am par pohonchna hai job par.
Mayank: Oh my God. Thank you so much Nupur.
He said and by mistake gave her a kiss on her cheek.
Nupur and Mayank, both hesitated.
Mayank: Woh.. sorry main.. excited ho gaya tha.. thoda sa.
Nupur: Umm... k.. koi baat nahi. Main chalti hoon. Bye.
She and left with hesitancy.
Mayank hits his head with his hand and goes inside to get ready.
The next day, Nupur and Mayank both went to their jobs. Both remained busy with their jobs... but when the day ended. Both came back, tired. While resting in their rooms, started missing eachother.
And then... after sometime, Mayank started calling Nupur.
She picked up the phone,
Nupur: Hello.
Mayank: Hello Nupur, Kaisi ho tum??
Nupur: Toh finally Mr.Mayank Malhotra the horrible uncle ko meri yaad aa gayi?
Mayank: Mujhe nahi aayi tumhari yaad vaad... woh toh main bas... aise hi phone kar diya.
Nupur: Toh theek hai... main phone rakh deti hoon.
She said giving a naughty smile,
Mayank: Arre.. ab phone kar hi liya hai toh baat karte hain na.
Nupur: Yeh ajeeb baat hai... baat karke zaroor paise zaya karne hain?
Mayank: Paise mere lag rahe hain tumhe kya?
Nupur: Yeh baat bhi sahi hai... toh Mr. Mayank Malhotra, how was your first day at job?
Mayank: Acha tha... bas bohot tiring tha.
Nupur: Mayank, tumhari tabyet toh theek hai na?
Mayank: Han theek hai, kyun?
Nupur: Nahi woh aise hi... tumne baat ka aik dam seedha jawab de diya. Naa koi mazak kiya na hi mera mazak udaya, sab theek hai?
Mayank laughed on this.
Mayank: Yeh acha hai, mazak udao toh problem na udao toh problem. Yeh pyar bhi na..
But then, Mayank noticed what he said... and was just praying that Nupur doesn't understands what he said.
Nupur: Kya bola tumne? Pyar?
Mayank: M... Maine pyar kab kaha?
Nupur: Tumne abhi abhi kaha na "yeh pyar bhi na"
Mayank: Tumhe zaroor koi ghalat fehmi ho chuki hai Nupur.
Nupur: Nahi na Mayank. Tumne pyar ka naam liya tha.. I am sure.
Mayank: Tum paghal ho gayi ho Nupur..
He said to cover his by chance words and disconnected the phone.
Nupur: Ajeeb larka hai yaar.. pehle khud pyaar ka naam leta hai aur phir aise phone kaat deta hai aur keh raha hai ke main paghal hoon. Uff!! I gotta talk to him. Pata nahi isse hua kya hai. Iski tabyet nahi dimagh kharab ho gaya hai shayad.
Mayank to himself: Mayank... tu paghal ho gaya hai poori tarah! Pehle Tune Nupur ke gaal pe kiss kar diya aur ab tune Nupur ke saamne yeh kaise bol gaya. Oh My God!! Ab main Nupur ko kya boloon ga? Shuckkksss!! Aur phir waise bhi... kal sunday hai... aur main poora din free hoon. Aur Nupur ka kamra aik dam saamne hai. Oh My God. Yaar I have to search for an apartment. Warna jab tak Nupur saamne rahe gi mujhe aise lage ga ke jaise mujhe usse pyar hai.
The next sun finally rose, Nupur woke up earlier than Mayank. And kept on thinking of him, specially the morning kiss which made her blush for the whole day. She kept on thinking for the next one hour. After the hour, she comes out of her thoughts and said,
Nupur: Was I thinking of Mayank? OMG. Huh.
Nupur got ready and called Mayank, who was half in sleep.
"What is it Nupur." He said with his irritated voice. "Aaj koi job nahi hai. Let me sleep."
Nupur: Dopahar ke 1 baj chuke hain Mayank.
Mayank: Toh? Simla mein main dophar ke teen baje uthta tha.
Nupur: Aur yeh Mumbai hai Mayank ji.
Mayank: Toh? Let me sleep.
Nupur: Mayank... aaj tumhare stitches khulne hain par.
Mayank: I am not getting my stitches open.
Nupur: Kyun?
Mayank: Lagwate hue itni 2 dafa injection lena pada tha yaar... khulwane jaoon ga toh kitni baar lagwana pade ga. OMG.
Nupur: Agle 10 minute mein ready hoke neeche pohoncho.
Mayank: Par kyun?
Nupur: Kyunke main keh rahi hoon. Tum pichle 15 ghante se so rahe ho Mayank.
Mayank: Sone do na Nupur.
Nupur: Shutup. And neeche ao! Abhi!!
Mayank: Main nahi aaoon ga.
He said and disconnected the phone.
Nupur: Huh. Roz aur stubborn hota jaa raha hai. Hey Bhagwan!! Yeh kiske saath chod diya mujhe.
She went upstairs and knocked Mayank's door again.
Mayank: Kya hai Nupur!!
Nupur: Bahar ao phir batati hoon.
Mayank went and opened the door.
Nupur: Tumhe kaise pata tha ke main hoon.
Mayank: Kyunke iss waqt mujhe aur koi disturb nahi karta.
Nupur: Mayank baba ki jai ho!
Mayank: Shutup. Aur aik baar keh dia na keh main nahi jaoon ga hospital. Toh nahi jaoon ga.
Nupur: Toh theek hai. Nahi jaate hospital.
Mayank smiled.
Nupur: Ham doctor ke clinic jayen ge. Theek hai?
She said giving a naughty smile.
She entered the room. As she went inside, Mayank, with his helpless expressions followed her.
Nupur: Main yahan baithi hoon..
She said sitting on the sofa.
Nupur: Tum jao aur jaake naha dho ke kapde badal lo. Phir ham chalte hain. Dheyan se nahana... take care of your stitches.
Mayank: Janta hoon.. Roz nahata hoon.
He said and went inside.
Nupur laughed on his bad expressions and then started waiting for him.
When he came out, and got ready.
Nupur: Chalo..
Mayank: Nooo!
His shivered voice said.
Nupur: Main pooch nahi rahi hoon... bata rahi hoon.
She said as she held his hand and took him out of the room.
On their way in the rickshaw, he was constantly trying to convince Nupur to not go to the doctor.
Soon, Nupur was fed up.
Nupur: ENOUGH!
She puts a finger on Mayank's lips. Both looked in eachother's eyes. Her touch was so gentle on his lips. Mayank kept on looking in his eyes and Nupur's hesitated eyes kept on being shy.
Nupur quickly then removed her finger from his lips and said,
Nupur: Ab kuch mat bolna.
And then bowed her head.
After few minutes, they reached the clinic. Nupur dismounted the Rickshaw and asked Mayank to dismount too.
Nupur: Mayank utro.
Mayank: Nupur...
Nupur: Mayank! Aik bache jaisi harkatein na karo aur utro. Abhi!
Mayank: Aur tum meri mummy jaise behave karna bandh karo please. Nupur, yeh meri life hai. Let me deal with it myself.
Nupur stood quite for a moment and then broke the silence and said,
Nupur: Ho gaya? Ab chalo ander!
As she pulled Mayank out of the rickshaw.
There, they were waiting for there number. And Mayank was constantly praying that it never comes.
He kept his fingers crossed.
The doctor's assistant then came out and announced his name.
Nupur stood up and asked Mayank to stand too.
Nupur: Mayank, utho na.
Mayank: Mujhe nahi aana.
Nupur: Bacho ki tarah zid mat karo aur chalo.
Mayank gave irritated expressions and stood up. They both went inside.
After they were inside.
Doctor: Good afternoon.
Nupur replied: Good afternoon.
Mayank without replying went and sat on the patient-stool.
Doctor gave him a strange look on not replying and seeing Mayank's angry face.
Doctor: So, gentleman kya hua hai apko?
"Pyar" he muttered.
Nupur glared at him.
Mayank:M..mera matlab hai ke yeh mujhe 2-3 din pehle mere arm pe aik cut lag gayi thi jispe mujhe stitches lagwane pade. (In his mind- Curse that day).
Nupur: Yeh rahi woh pichle wale doctor ki prescription.
She gave it to the doctor. After reading it the doctor said that the stitches had to get opened.
He asked Mayank to go and sit on the bed.
Mayank sat on the bed and doctor's assistant brought an the injection for him.
When the injection got prepared and then,
Seeing the injection, Mayank held Nupur's hand tight.
Nupur: Mayank, relax sirf chotta sa injection hai yeh.
Mayank: Isse tum chotta kehti ho?
Nupur: Isse tum bada kehte ho?
Mayank: Nupur yeh bohot bada hai.
And he closed his eyes tight while doctor brought the injection closer to his arm. And as the injection was being injected.
Mayank: Aaahh!!
Nupur: Bas itni si baat thi Mayank. Aur tumne Simla mein bhi itni problem create ki. Seriously. You are dumb!
Mayank: Tumne mujhe dumb kaha?
Nupur eyed the doctor to continue with opening the stitches as she was making Mayank busy with the fight.
The doctor smiled and continued.
Mayank: Jawab kyun nahi de rahi? Tumne mujhe dumb kaha?
Nupur: Dumb nahi toh aur kya kahoon? Horrible Uncle!!
She giggled.
Mayank: Aur tum moti teacher. Got it?
While he was fighting, he used to get little jerks when the doctor used to remove the stitches but he used didn't felt them much as he was busy fighting.
Nupur: Tum na... har jagah bas jokers ki tarah mazak karte rehte ho. Kabhi serious hue ho?
Mayank: Hospital pohonchne ka koi shok nahi hai mujhe.
Nupur: Urggh.
Mayank: 1278.
Nupur: Maths student!
Mayank: 110.
The doctor interfered,
Doctor: Hello people! Cut this off now. We are done with it.
Mayank: Stitches nikal gaye? Kab?
Doctor: Tab hi jab aap ladd rahe the.
Mayank: I am really sorry doctor, par yeh.. kaise hua?
Doctor: Kaise hua matlab? Apki girlfriend ne aapko baaton mein lagaye rakha. Aur hamara kaam asaan kar diya. Now excuse me, main bandage leke aya.
When he left.
Both:Girlfriend? GOD!!
Mayank: Yeh sab doctors hote hain ya cupids? har dafa.. kabhi tum meri biwi ban jaati ho aur kabhi girlfriend. Huh!!
Nupur: I hate u too!
She said sarcastically.
After sometime,
When they came out of the clinic.
Mayank: Kamal hai yaar.. pata bhi nahi laga.
Nupur: Aur tumne aik baar bhi thank you nahi bola.
She gave a bad look to him.
Mayank: Thank you toh nahi boloon ga... leikin how about if we go and eat icecream.
Nupur: Icecream nahi Mayank please, panipuri khayen?
Mayank: Not a bad idea. Toh chalo, aaj my treat.
Nupur: Aw leikin kya main pooch sakti hoon ke Mr.Mayank Malhotra ke aik dam mera itna khayal kaise aya?
Mayank: Aise hi..
Nupur: Aaj kal tumhare behavior mein kuch gadbad chal rahi hai Mayank.
Mayank: Woh kaise?
Nupur: U aren't completely the old Mayank now a days.
Mayank: Woh kaise?
Nupur: Woh aise ke... Tumhara mood ajeeb swing karta rehta hai and tum strange behave karne lage ho. Kabhi tumhara mood khud ba kudh acha hone lagta hai aur kabhi tum phir aise hi ajeeb ho jaate ho. Hua kya hai? Aur tum har waqt "pyar" ka naam kyun lene lage ho? Kahin Mumbai mein koi pasand toh nahi aa gaya?
She winked at him.
Mayank: Ab... Main... Pyar.. K.. Kissi se nahi!
Nupur: Relax karo Mayank. Tum toh aise baat kar rahe ho jaise maine tumse kissi bomb ke baare mein pooch liya ho.
Mayank to himself: I so love her. And I'll have to tell her.
He then smiled looking at Nupur.
