So one of the most awaited day had arrived. Engagement was to take place in a few hours and each and every family member was busy in their own tasks. As soon as Taani reached her college, she asked her teacher for some more time to complete her assignment. She was granted 2-3 days max to submit her project only because she had always been a responsible student. Mayank had called her to tell her that Manav needed to be kidnapped, because Manav had to get ready for the engagement which he could possibly not know due to his absence of mind, most of the times.

Manav had been expelled from his previous college, and was continuously getting absent in the new college. Coincidently, the new college, In which he took admission, was the same one that Harshad and Ankita attended. Although Ankita is a year younger than Harshad, she studied in the same year as Harshad's.

Taani was worried about Manav because he was repeating the same mistake due to which he had been expelled previously, which is, getting absent back to back, or bunking mostly. The corolla came to a halt when it reached the engineering college. Taani got out and searched for Manav but sadly, he was nowhere to be seen.

Then she saw a girl throwing her soda can on the newly bloomed flowers. Taani had always hated the fact that people littered their own country or earth, which provided them a shelter. So she decided to pick it up and throw it in the dustbin.

Harshad had finally bunked his chemistry class. He thought 'The professor was such a pain! Mujhe koi shauq nahi hai yeh pata lagane mein ke ke hawa mein kya hai! Poore waqt chemical reaction aur sab se badtar organic chemistry! Is se ghatia cheez toh'(interrupted by the sight in front of him)

Taani was struggling to make her way past the crowd of boys, with a bunch of heavy books and lots of notes, and while the air was literally blowing on her face. Ignoring all these minor obstacles, she went to the garden, picked up the empty can, and threw it in the dustbin. During her virtuous action, her notes got disbanded and started flying in the air.

Harshad, when he saw this, thought : 'Arey waah! Duniya mein achay log bhi zinda hai (smirks), mujhe toh laga tha ke God ke paas achay logon ka stock hi khatam ho gaya. Lekin abhi bhi main daavey ke saath keh sakta hoon ke yeh larki dunya ki aakhri larki bachi hai jisko apne desh ka aur is environment ka khayal hai. Varna toh aaj kal ki larkiyaan bas boyfriend bananey ke chakkar mein hoti hain. '

After a while, Taani was finally done with picking all her stuff, while Harshad went with Anki back to his place. When Manav arrived, Taani clearly looked disappointed.

Manav: "Sorry Sorry Sorry! (making a puppy dog face) Mujhe nahi pata tha main itna late ho jaon ga, Main kya karoon agar us larki ne itna late respond kia. Tough thi lekin atlast maine uska addess aur ghar ka number le hi liya!" (smiling in a way of pride)

Taani: "Ho gaya? (raises one of his eyebrow) Bhai, plz aap ko pata hai main aap ke accomplished missions main bilkul interested nahi hoon. Mujhe assignment bhi karna hai, Mayank Bhaiyya ki engagement bhi hai raat ko jis ki wajah se ghar par bohat saara kaam hai." (interrupted)

Manav: "Ah ah ah, Cenyorita, chotay chotay cities main aisi choti choti mistakes hoti rehti hain." (grins, while Taani gives an annoyed look)

Manav: "Haan Haan, ab zyada bhao mat khao. Mujhe pata hai meri galti hai aur maine sorry bhi bol dia behena, ab please save me the lecture." (joining both of his hands)

Taani: "Bhai, aap na kabhi kabhi too much ho jate ho. Ab chaltay hain is se pehle Mayank bhaiyya aajaein."

Manav: "Too much hot ho jata hoon, ya too much charming?" (gives his best smile)

Nupur and Ankita entered Nupur's place with innumerous amounts of shopping bags. As it was 12 pm, they still had max 6 to 7 hours to complete each and every task including helping Nupur's mum, getting dressed and other minor tasks.

Ankita: "Main toh bura wala thak gayi hoon. Nupz please thori dair soh jate hain, na?" (yawns)

Nupur: "Anki, meri pyaari Anki (in a really low and soft voice), Tere uppar Harshad ki rooh kab se aa gayi (her voice getting louder and louder)? Jab se mera rishta pakka hua hai tab se tera cassette toh sirf neend ke liye hi baj raha hai!" (annoyed)

Ankita: "Haha, very funny! (sticks her tongue out). Acha chor yeh sab, chalo mujhe mere jeeju se baat karao'"

Nupur: "Nahiii, woh office main ho ga abhi, I don't want to disturb him."

Ankita: "Waah Waah dulhan, hamein toh aap hamesha disturb karne ke liye tayyar hoti hain, bhalay hi hum raat ke thakay hue subah ko sirf gyarah baje tak soh rahe hoon' im impressed, abhi se hi woh typical patni bannay ki practice!" (winks while Nupur is blushing)

Nupur: "Nahi toh. Main toh bas aise hi keh rahi thi. (Anki makes funny faces) Acha bas itni zyada nautanki mat karo, tumhari shakal hi monkey jaisi ho jaye gi."(sticks her tongue out while she dials mayank's cell number and hands the phone to Ankita)

Mayank: "Hello? Nupur?"

Ankita: "Nahi jeeju! Kya aap abhi se hi Nupz ke khayalon main doobey hue hain?" (raises both of her eyebrows continuously)

Mayank (totally blank): "Umm, jee aap kaun? Aap ka naam jaan sakta hoon?"

Ankita: "Jee jee bilkul, aap mera naam jaan sakte hain, aakhir hazaaron ko mera naam jaanne ka shauq hai. Hehe. Jokes apart, Im Ankita, Nupur ki bestest friend. waise jeeju aap mujhe anki bula saktay hain. By the way, main aap ko jeeju bula sakti hoon, na?" (innocently)

Mayank (grins) :"Haan Haan, why not, aakhir aap hamari saali jo therri!(spontaneously) Waise kya main Nupur se baat kar sakta hoon?" (crosses his fingers)

Ankita: "Jee bilkul, waise bhi Nupz ko mujhse baat karne ka abhi mood bhi nahi ho raha. (looks at Nupur) Haina Nupz? (winks)"

Nupur: "Anki!"

Ankita: "Haan, Haan yeh le phone, waise bhi main sonay ja rahi hoon. Teen ghantay baad utha dena mujhe yaad se varna teri hi engagement main late ho jaon gi main."

Nupur: "Haan sahi hai. Ab ja na!" (moans while pushing Ankita out of her room)

Mayank: "Hellooo?"

Nupur: "Haan, im here. Woh actually Anki ko bas tang karne ki aadat hai isi liye. Waise Mayank, tum abhi kahan ho?" (curiously)

Mayank: "Main toh abhi office main hoon, bas thora sa kaam kar ke ghar chala jaon ga."

Nupur: "Oh, engagement ke din bhi kaam?" (a little disappointed)

Mayank: "Hmm, kaam kaam kaam, na khana na aaraam. Well, mere bare mein bohot baat ho gayi, tum batao, tumhara abhi tak se din kaisa guzra?"

Nupur: "Decent tha, I mean maine aur Ankita ne itni zyada shopping ki ke tum bas pooch hi mat! Maine toh" (interrupted)

Mayank: "Waise main abhi tumhe call karne hi wala tha. Please aunty ko meri taraf se thank u bol dena. Mujhe un ki di hui sherwani bohot pasand aayi. Bohot hi acha color combination hai!" (grins)

Nupur: "Theek hai. Waise, Mayankk, best of luck."

Mayank: "Kis liye?" (confused)

Nupur: "Aakhir tum meri mamma ki choice ki sherwani pehennay ja rahe ho toh luck toh bohot zaruri hai, acha dikhne ke liye." (laughs)

Mayank(smiles) : "Acha phir see u in the evening. Maa mujhe ghar bula rahi hain aur agar main ab nahin gaya toh woh khud mujhe hotel lene aa jayein gi."

Nupur: "Ok then bye." (when she is just about to cut the line)

Mayank: "Aur haan, woh blue wala dress hi pehenna."

It was 4 00 pm and it had started raining heavily, which was quite surprising as Delhi and rains, weren't exactly best of friends. Nupur had constantly been jumping on the bed of the guest room where Ankita was sleeping, to pull her from her peaceful dreams.

Nupur: "Anki uth na!Kyun dunya ke saare jaanvar baich kar soh rahi hai."

Ankita: "Sonay do na yaar, kabhi kabhi toh milta hai sonay ko.. considering the fact ke main stupid engineering parh rahi hoon!" (murmurs)

Nupur: "Dekho, tumhe meri kasam! Agar tum is bed se nahi uthi toh tum meri engagement ka mara hua moon dekho gi!" (in a total dramatic way)

Forced by her bestfriend's meaningless words, she got up, and took Nupur with her to get ready for the sagai. Ankita had bought a pink lehenga with a combination of silver in it, so as to match with Nupur's dress which was silver and blue. There were two beautiful young ladies standing in front of each of their mirrors, struggling to look more beautiful. But what they were oblivious of, was, that nothing could improve their appearance as they already were gorgeous. Ankita picked out a few hot pink color bangles and silver hoops. Nothing excessive in amount, her jewellery, make up and everything was perfect from head to toe. She had let her wavy hair embrace her shoulders by just the support of a cute, tiny hairclip. She looked cute in a very decent, yet unique way.

While one was done grooming herself, the other one was still in a conflict of her own. Nupur had placed all the accessories she had to wear at evening, in front of her but wasn't in the mood to get ready. She was kind of scared as she did not exactly know Mayank so how could she spend her whole life with him. Then again, she was probably falling for him, and his gentleman attitude. Nevertheless, she finally started to get ready.

Mayank was however, very calm about his 'pehli' engagement. He put on his sherwani, a rolex watch, pointed shiny, black shoes and placed some gel on his hair. All ready to go but unfortunately, for Mayank, the function was going to start at 7pm which meant approximately 2-3 hrs were left.

In the same house, but next to Mayank's room, was a boy ball dancing in front of the mirror.

Manav: "Tumse milke, aisa laga, Tumse milke, armaan hue poore dil ke, ai Manav, meri jaan!" (winks at himself in the mirror) "Uff meri ada, she likes the way I move, Uff mera badan (showing his muscles) she likes to see me groove!" (interrupted)

Taani: "Bhai, agar tumhara public display of self obsession khatam ho gaya ho toh main andar aa jaon?"(grins)

Manav: "Pushpa, Tu ne meri zindagi se jaane ka sawal toh nahi poocha toh meri zindagi main aane ka kyun pooch rahi hai?" (puts his hand on his head in a total nautanki ishtyle)

Taani: "Aaj itne khush? Koi khaas baat hai?"

Manav: "Pata nahin, aaj bas khush hone ka mann kar raha hai' ya phir shayad koi bari khushi aane wali hai jis wajah se yeh khushi appetizer ke taur par mil gayi hai mujhe."

Taani (while pushing Manav into the washroom): " Ohh' Khair choro. Umm, Manav ab jab tak tum poori tarha tayyaar nahi ho jate tab tak tum bahir nahi aao ge!"

After a while, Manav comes out in a brown sherwani with his hair combed back decently and a sweet, but elegant smile positioned on his lips.

Taani (opens her mouth in awe): "Kaaaaash! Kash aap aise hi achay bacho ki tarha baat maan lete toh abhi tak aap bhi ghori par char chukay hote" (laughs)

Manav: "Oye! Main koi tees saal ka Buddah nahi hua hoon jo meri shaadi karva do gai, im still a child, you know'(in a cool accent)

Mayank (holds Manav's ear): "Haan haan, tu abhi 2 saal ka bacha, aur mein tees saal ka burah! Chalo ab ek din ke liye itna kaafi hai. Thori dair main nikalna hai is liye fully ready ho jao."

Manav: "Ooops! Sorry na bhaiyya' ouch! Ab toh kaan chor do'pleaseee" (smiles)

When Ankita was done getting ready, she went to her place to check on Harshad, whether he was ready or not.

Ankita: "Tauba! Jo expect kiya tha wahi dekh rahi hoon! (rolls her eyes) Tum abhi tak tayyar kyun nahi hue, Harshu?" (folds her arms)

Harshad: "Abay! Yaarrr! Kya yaar Sehwag, kya mast shot miss kia! (groans, while watching the cricket match) Ankita ja yaar, dekh nahi sakti main busy hoon! (turns his head to face ankita) Aur haan, AGAR. AB. TU. NE. MUJHE. HARSHU. BULAYA. TOH MAIN. TERA. KHOON. PEE. JAON. GA!" (stares at her)

Ankita: "Busy? Please! Tumhe yaad nahi aaj tumhari bestfriend ki engagement hai?"

Harshad (while eating popcorn and drinking coke) : "Kaun??(narrows his eyes) Nupur? Oh woh'..Chill, shaadi toh nahi hai na'"

Ankita (closes the tv): "Bangladesh aur India ka match baad mein dekh lena' God! Match freak!"

Harshad: "Anki please na' please, please'(makes a puppy dog face)"

Ankita: "Nahin! Now go get ready."

Harshad: "Acha meim saab'(makes a sad face) Kuch karne hi nahi dete, jab dekho sab apna decision mujh par thoptay hain! Ek din marr jaon ga na, toh sab milke yaad kare gai.: (murmurs)

Ankita: "Haan bas, itna zyada drama nahin" (Harshad sticks his tongue out)

When the clock struck seven, there were mass conversations in the enormous hall of Nupur's house. Chattering of the elders, giggling of the youngersters was all that could be heard. There was a huge chandelier in the middle with the combination of pink and blue buntings on it. The lights were extremely pretty. Each and every person was waiting for the queen of the day, Nupur. The Malhotra family was spotted entering the hall. Mayank, Manav, Taani and their parents, all were looking like the cream of the crop, and were dressed in the most admirable way. Manav chose his best section of people, the ladies, whereas Mayank just stood there with his parents. Taani, however, started to explore the place, as she was a very curious and inquisitive person.

Ankita hurriedly left her place with Harshad, she was already a little late. Nupur had called them and scolded Harshad for being such a spoilt sport. When they arrived at the hall, Harshad just chose a quiet spot for himself whereas Ankita ran errands that Nupur wanted to be completed. While Ankita was busy running errands , Manav was also busy in some highly serious business.

Manav: "Hi, meri bhabhi ki sagai hai' I toh just love her. Maine hi bola tha bhaiyya ko Nupur se shaadi karne ko.." (standing near the staircase)

Tina (turns around to face Manav) : "acha? Waise tumhara naam kya hai?"

Manav: " Malhotra, Manav Malhotra! Aur tumhara?"

Tina: "Aapka."

Manav: "Kya?" (confused)

Tina: "Main Nupur ki dost hoon yaani ke tumhari bhabhi ki dost. Mujhse flirt karne ka koi faaida nahi"

When she leaves, Manav is annoyed and starts to descend backwards. He accidently bumps into Ankita who was carrying a drink in her hand. It fell on her dress, ruining it.

Manav: "Ooops. Um so'" (interrupted)

Ankita: "Aandhay ho ya zyada pee li hai? Dekh kar nahi chal sakte! God, mera dress kharab kar diya! Tumhe andaaza bhi hai ke maine kitni mehnat ki thi yeh dress choose karne mein!?" (shouts)

Manav (checks her out from head to toe): "Andha hota toh bas yehi afsos hota ke aap jaisi khubsurat cheez ko dekh nahi paya. Aur Jahan tak peene ki baat ayi toh, Kuch Nasha Aapki Baat Ka Hai,
Kuch Nasha Dhimi Barsat Ka Hai, Hamein Aap Yunhi Sharabi Mat Kahiye, Ye Dil Par Asar Aapse Pehli Mulaqaat Ka Hai'" (smirks)

Ankita (stares at him): "Tum pagal ho kya? Live shayari!! Dimaag toh kharaab nahi ho gaya hai' oh wait, jo cheez hai hi nahi woh kharaab kaise ho gi'" (grins)

Manav(still gazing at her): "Acha bas bohot suna di. Sorry bol diya na, zyada bhao mat khao!"

Ankita: "Bhao? Please' tumne sorry bhi nahi kaha aur waise bhi agar kaha bhi hota toh bhi main maaf nahi karti"

Manav: "Whatever. Mujhe sarphiri larkiyon se baat karne ka shauq nahi hai" (starts to go)

Ankita: "Puh Lease! Yeh bolo na ke smart larkiyon se baat karne ka shauq nahi, jo tumhare haath nahi ayein gi' Galti karo uppar se bakwaas bhi karo'"(folds her arms)

Manav: "Tumhari kya yeh aadat hai, ya fitrat hai? Mujh jaise good looking larke ke saath thora sa time spent karne ke liye mujh se larna start kar diya."

Ankita: "Dekho tum zyada bako mat varna, varna main.." (interrupted)

Manav: "Varna main kya? Thappar maro gi, yeh lo (moves his cheek towards her), maaro. Gandhi ji ne kaha hai ke jab dushman ko gussa aye toh gaal aage kar dena chahiye'" (grins)

Ankita: "Galat dialogue hai. Gandhi ji ne bola tha ke jab dushman ek gaal par maare, toh dusra aage kar dena chahiye."

Manav: "Whatever. The point is ke TUM KUCH NAHI KAR SAKTI Sivai patching up with me and accompanying me on the party at the Burleske club tomorrow night."

Ankita: "Did you really fight with me first, aur phir mujhe ask out kia?"

Manav: "Haan'"

Ankita: "Well, if come to think about it, tum sahi bol rahe ho." (smiles)

Manav: "That's intelligency ka kaam' so kab pick karun tumhe (while checking his cell)?"

Ankita smacks Manav across his cheek, making an extremely loud sound to attract a bunch of aunties.

Manav (angry): "What was that for? Mujhe laga you agreed with me."

Ankita: "Yes I did, lekin tumhare pehle suggestion par, tumhe thappar maarne par. Waise guess what? Mere mind mein abhi kya gaana baj raha hai..?" (Manav giving an annoyed look)

Ankita (moves from there): "Zor ka thappar haye zoron se laga, haan laga!" (winks)

Manav: "Manav ko harana mushkil hi nahi na mumkin hai. Pink dress wali, it's an official war now. Get ready.. negative Manav ke liye" (gives a sly smile)
