Chapter Seventeen
It was Sunday. Charulata invited Mayank's family for dinner and marriage discussion. Nupur was working in the kitchen. Actually today she was making the dinner….Dinner was ready and now she was making 'kheer' for desert. Meanwhile the door bell rang. She went to open the door…it was Mayank's family. Nupur welcomed them with her beautiful smile…but her eyes were searching for someone…Mayank was not with hem. Aditi noticed that…she came near to Nupur and told in her ear….
Aditi: Nupur tum jise dhund rahi ho wo humara sath nehi aya….par don't worry a jayenge…usse achanak kuch kam a gaya tha.
After telling that, Aditi went away and joined the parents who were sitting in the living room. Nupur was dumbfounded for some time. After some minutes she gained her consciousness and also went to the living room to join the others while everyone was talking.
Shilpa: arre Nupur beta kaise ho?
Nupur: thik hoon aunty…ap log kaise hey?
Shilpa: hum bhi thik hey…
Meanwhile Nupur remembered that she was making 'kheer'….so she had to go back to kitchen.
Nupur: excuse me….mujhe kitchen main kuch kam baki reh gaya main wo puri karke ati hoon.
Rajib: okay beta..tum jao…hum bhi tumahari mom se kuch baat kar lete hey.
Nupur: thik hey uncle…
Nupur stood up and going back to kitchen when Aditi also joined her.
Aditi: main bhi tumhare sath chalti hoon….main yaha inn logo ki beech baith ke kya karungi.
Nupur: okay.chalo.
They reached the kitchen and Nupur started making her 'kheer' again….
Aditi: kya bana rahe ho?
Nupur: kheer…
Aditi: kheer! Wow lagta hey kisiko impress karne ke liye uska favorite dish bana rahi ho…
Nupur noticed the teasing tone… she felt that her cheek was getting warmth but she was so expert to hide her feelings…
Nupur: mujhe kisiko impress karne ki koyi jarurat nehi hey samji…
Aditi: ha jo already impressed hey usse aur impress karne ki kya jarurat hey….toh ye kheer main kha jayu…wo kya hey na ghar pe jab bhi kheer banate hey bhai puri ki puri kha jate hey aur mujhe bas itna sa milta hey….
Aditi was telling these with a puppy face...after seeing her face Nupur was chuckled…
Nupur: aww..poor you…..thik hey aj puri kheer tum kha jana.
Aditi: so sweet Nupur…toh ye deal raha …done.
Nupur: done.
Then they started their random chit chat…maximum time Aditi was teasing Nupur…it seemed they knew each other for many years…after half an hour Nupur's kheer was ready…so she started arranging the dinner on the dining table. Aditi was helping her. Meanwhile he door bell rang again….Nupur was running towards the door as she knew that who could be on the door…she opened the door and here he was standing with a bouquet…Mayank was mesmerized to see Nupur…today she was looking different. Nupur was wearing a saree today… a simple sky blue color saree…her hair was open….she was not wearing any jewelry… she was applying some khol on her eyes and pink lip gloss on her lips…she was looking heavenly beautiful….Mayank couldn't take of his eyes from her…he was standing on the door like an statue and staring at Nupur….Nupur felt his gaze on her…she lowered her eyes with a sweet smile on her lips and a light pink color crept on her cheeks automatically…meanwhile Aditi came and observing this cute scene….
Aditi: ahem ahem….agar ap logo ki ye staring session khatam ho jaye toh andar a jayiye….
Aditi's words brought them back to the earth…Mayank entered into the house. While he was passing Nupur he stopped and told her in tone that only Nupur could hear….
Mayank: tomake aj osombhov sundor lagse…( you're looking absolutely beautiful)
Before Nupur could answer him he went to the living room to join the others…Mayank entered the living room and greeted Charulata and gave her the bouquet…then they started talking. Nupur went back to her work…after some times Aditi came to living room to inform that diner was ready. Everybody went to the dinning area…Nupur was serving the dinner…
Aditi: pata hey Mom dad aj dinner Nupur ne banaya….
Rajib: assa that's good….Mayank ne bataya tha ki tum bahut assa khana banati ho.
Nupur: thank you uncle….
Then everybody started to take their meal….and Shilpa and Rajib were continuously praising Nupur…Charulata was feeling so proud and happy to see this that her daughter was going to get a wonderful family where everyone was bonded with love…she was happy that she took a right decision for her daughter…now she was free…she had no tension for her daughter…during this time Mayank was so quite. He was taking his meal silently…actually he was secretly staring at Nupur…it seemed today someone glued his eyes on Nupur…now Nupur tied her hairs in a loose bun as it was disturbing her to do her works though Mayank loved her open hair more but she was looking beautiful too with this loose bun….. And she tugged her 'pallu' on her waist…After taking the dinner it was desert time…Nupur brought the kheer…
Aditi: toh a gaya hey kheer….Nupur tumhe yaad hey na tumhe kya kaha tha.
Nupur: ha yaad hey….ye lo tumhara kheer…
Nupur gave Aditi kheer in a bigger bowl…Mayank was observing this…
Mayank: arre ye kya hey mera kheer kaha hey?
Aditi: nehi hey…..Nupur ne kaha hey ki aj puri kheer meri hey.
Mayank: this is not fair…
Aditi: everything is fair…kyun tu jab ghar pa sare kheer kha jata hey tab kaha jata hey tera ye fair unfair…
Mayank: Adi…dekh.
Aditi: kya dekhu…tu dekh…main toh kheer khayungi….wow its so tasty….
Everyone was watching this siblings nok joks….Mayank was making puppy face and Aditi was enjoying her kheer…the scene looked so cute….meanwhile Nupur gave a bowl to Mayank which brought a sweet smile on his face….
Aditi: Nupur ye kya hey..tumne kaha sare kheer meri hey toh tumne bhai ko kheer kyu di?
Nupur: Aditi….aur bhi kheer hey…tumhe jitna chahiye mlegi..tum tension maat lo…now enjoy your kheer.
Everyone was enjoying their kheer…after finishing the desert everyone was going back to living room…Nupur was cleaning the dining table…suddenly she felt someone very near to her. She didn't need to turn back to know who it was because she already knew that…
Mayank: this was the tastiest kheer I've ever tasted….and you're looking more beautiful with open hair.
He opened her hair and went back to living room without giving any chance to Nupur for say something. After sometimes Charulata called her to living room.
Charulata: beta ye baitho…hum sabko kuch baat karni hey.
Nupur took a sit beside Shilpa….
Charulata: beta hum sab chahte hey ki shadi Calcutta main ho….tum dono ko koyi problem toh nehi hey na.
Nupur: na maa….mujhe koyi problem nehi hey.
Shilpa: that's good…Mayu…
Mayank: mujhe bhi koyi problem nehi hey…
Rajib: ye toh bahut assi baat huyi ki inn dono ko koyi problem nehi hey….ab hum ek asse se din fixed karte hey aur phir Calcutta chalte hey…
Charulata: ha ye bahut assi baat ki hey apne bhai sab…main Pandit ji se baat karti hoon…
Aditi: wow..hum Calcutta jayenge…that's cool.
Then everyone became busy in discussion. Charulata was talking to Pandit in the phone…Shilpa and Rajib were also talking about some matter when Aditi was telling how excited she was for going to Calcutta….Mayank and Nupur both were silent…they were just looking at each other….but it seemed their eyes were talking to each other…Mayank saw something in Nupur's eyes which he never seen before in her eyes….there were some dreams which had been lost for many years…but this was the high time to got back those dreams….
