Part 34:

Mayank suddenly found his room empty at sleep time...he started searching for Nupur everywhere, thinking where could she be at this time of the night when he reached to the terrace, in search of her...

There she was standing facing the sky, with her hands on the railings of the terrace..

He walked up to her and said, "Nupur itni raat ko yahaan kya kar rahi ho?"

Nupur reflexively turned to look back at him, she didn't get the time to wipe off the tears that were lavishly leaving from her eyes...she smiled at Mayank and said, "Kuch nahi...bas aise hi...yeh terrace yuhi bejaan pada tha, toh socha ki isme thodi si jaan bhar doon" and she lifted her hand to reach up to her eyes...but before that could happen, quite unexpectedly, Mayank's hands won the race with Nupur's hand and reached her cheeks, thereby wiping them off himself gently...he asked looking in pain himself, "Nupur...tum ro rahi thi...par kyun?" and then forcing a made up smile while trying to be casual again he asked, "terrace ki yeh haalat dekh kar?"

Nupur smiled at Mayank's sudden remark and she confessed genuinely, "Nahi...woh actually...Ma aur Dad aaj chale gaye naa...bas unhi ko yaad kar rahi th...unko main hamesha se bahut maanti thi...aaj jab who kuch dino ke liye door gye toh laga, ki main bhi unke saath chali jaaon'"then laughing at what she just now said she continued, "unke hone se mujhe Bauji arur meri Ma ki kami kam mahsoos hoti thi'"

Mayank felt like giving her a comfort hug but decided against it, even it was new to him that he wanted to be so affectionate to her all of a sudden...he simply said, "Nupur ...tum jis tarah unhe respect karti ho...aur unki care karti ho...shayad waise main bhi nahi kar pata kabhi...isliye mujhe nahi, woh bhi tumhe yaad karenge'"and smiling continued,"Thanks Nupur... and I am sure and glad ki tum hamesha yahi karogi..."

This statement of Mayank had amazed both...Mayank was taking Nupur for granted and Nupur was flying in air for that...

There was a sudden tense air in the atmosphere between them which Nupur broke saying proudly and meaning every word of hers, "Haan, woh toh hai..main hamesha yahi karoongi..."

Mayank smiled and said, "aur terrace ki bhi?"

Mayank was glad to see that Nupur had stopped crying when he said, "Tum ladkiyon ka bhi naa...samajh nahi aata...kab rona shuru kar deti ho...aur kis baat pe...aur phir agle hi pal hasne lag jaati ho...sach much, meri samajh ke bahar hai?"

Nupur asked with inquisitive look, "kitni ladkiyon ko samajhne ki kohish ki hai tumne'" then she herself replied as if it was smart of her to guess, "jaanti hoon...mere alawa aur koi nahi...toh Mr. Samajhdar, main yeh bata doon tumhe, ki hum ladkiyaan aisi hi hoti hain...mann mein jitni khushi ya gham ke emotions hain, use pal mein aankhon se bahar ka raasta dikha dete hain'aur phir dil ho jaata hai...bilkul saaf'tum ladko ke mysterious dil ki tarah nahi...ki lage jaise kisi suspence thriller movie ki tarah emotions dhoondne ki jaroorat pade'.ke dil mein kuch hai bh...ki nahi'"

Mayank replied laughing, "waah aapki baton ka jawaab nahi'" and then matter of factly added, "arrey, har baat dil se lagane ki kya jaroorat hai?"

Nupur waved her hand in the air as if hitting a fly roaming around moving it from one side to a another she said, "Jaane do, tumhe yeh dil vil ki baatein naa kabhi samajh mein aayi hain...aur nahi kabhi samjhengi...ByGod...tumse pehle toh main hitler ko samjha sakti hoon yeh baatein'"

Mayank asked with an attitude not missing, he felt bad at this claim of hers, "tum mujhe challenge ka rahi ho...achcha bolo...main bhi toh sunu ki hitler kin baaton se pighal sakta tha?"

Nupur got irritated and replied, "Mayank'.tum mera mazaak uda rahe ho naa?...mujhe use koi farak nahi padta'main jaa rahi hoo..." And she turned to leave when Mayank felt like holding her hands and stopping her...he didn't want her to go...and this time he did get hold of her wrist..

Nupur stopped suddenly feeling as if it was not her hand he had caught but her heart that was jumping suddenly and wanted to leave her forever and vow to take Mayank's side from now on, always...she cursed Gunjan in her mind for having put such thoughts in her mind the other day...she was never in such situations earlier with Mayank...the way she felt now'it was hard to explain that, even to herself..

She turned to look at Mayank when she felt her heart skip a few beats...

Mayank said, "ab pooch raha hoon'toh bhag rhi ho'agar tum confident nahi ho toh alag baat hai" Mayank said to her in a challenging tone because he really wanted to hear the thoughts which had drowned her beautiful heart from like forever'

Nupur felt as if Mayank was asking her to give a love test..and she somehow found it hardest to speak of those for the first time in front of someone...no Mayank...she felt a lump in her throat and getting he hand out of his grip she turned to look at the sky...trying to forget it was Mayank she was telling it about, she started speaking the wishes most dear to her...

"Dil...dil toh sabse innocent hota hai aur sabse pyara bhi'isse toh wahi pasand aata hai jo pyaara ho...hota hai apna dil...par pasand aati hai isse uski baatein'.achchai'.aur burai bhi...agar yeh bhi intelligently sochna jaanta toh aisa kabhi nahi sochta...uski khushi mein khush hota hai...kisi ek special ki smile...uski eyes...uske hone se...ya phir naa hone se...uski har baat se affect hota hai...uski khushboo'uski choti choti harkatein...sab kuch is dil par asar chod jaati hain...uske dil paas ho...toh apne aap zoron se dhadakne lagta hai...aur door ho toh jaise apne aap mein hi gum ho jaata hai...bas use hi pyar karne lagta hai apne aap ko bhool kar'" she completed smiling and spin at her spot now to look at Mayank and then she went silent for a second, lowering her eyes she tried to steady her heart...

Mayank looked at her in amazement...it was like Nupur was speaking everything that he was feeling these days...about his heart and hers...but no...but he knew there didn't exist anything like love as she said...he had just been forming a habit of Nupur's all the time...but surely he himself was at fault somehow...

He tried to bring himself back in focus and left suddenly over flooded with emotions saying, "Nupur...umm...mujhe kuch kaam yaad aa gaya...bahu important hai...please haan, don't mind"
