Part 4: How to name it?

"Clunk..." The teacup broke to a hundred pieces as it slipped from her trembling hand and hit the ground. A blunt thudding sound continued to flood her ears, as her nervousness poured out into tiny blobs of sweat in her inner palms and the sides of her forehead. Her eyes shot around the room, looking for a place to hide him. They had discussed it many times and yet now that the moment of execution was here, her mind went blank. Geet stood rooted to the spot in the kitchen, shaking with fear over having him found by anyone who might not have the least relief upon discovering his existence.

Strangely he had grown into her miserable being and she had decided in those closing moments to have him shielded from all that waited outside, even if it meant to see the end of her. There was simply no time to lose and reflect on what had called upon such affections for a stranger she had only spent a little more than two days with. A number that could not make any difference in anybody's lifetime and yet it had changed hers for eternity.

Could she truly describe all that was taking shape in her? Perhaps, give it a name and have him acknowledge? She quickly ignored the useless question that her mind threw at her frightened self at that panic driven instance.

For now it was just to yank him into the bathroom and stash the injured man behind the door, while she could attend to the knock and concur if it was truly their doom that called upon them. Not a plan that Sherlock would approve of, but this had to do given that no one had a whiff of his presence at rooftop and nor did Dev suspect anything brew in the external world from which Maan was cut off from.

Although Pinky and Manisha's casual check-ins never did alarm the occupants of the room this one scared the bejesus out of her. They had their own code of rhythmic pounding that was coined by Geet; three thumps followed by a pause and to continue the same harmonic sequence until Geet could answer the door. The fright and terror now came from the fact that the knock at the door did not follow the signal that was expected. Geet had felt foolish over stressing upon this trivial detail to both the souls that was in on the little secret she carried in her room, but her opinion changed the crushing second she had heard the irregular hammering.

She rushed to his side in lightening pace and bent over to shake up a sleeping Maan. Last night's pain medication had knocked him out senseless and Geet patted his prickly cheeks sharply to awaken him from deep slumber. He looked strictly peaceful besides his wounded self and any other day, Geet could sit by him, gaze at his perfect features endlessly. But today there was some stowing and concealing to be done given the unknown that pranced outside the room. In those split seconds, the little voice inside her head had caught up to her and questioned the unforgivable stupidity over inviting this man into her life. What has she really gotten herself into? Not only was her heart fluttering in fear over this man's life, but also to think of the undeniable misery she was falling for. It was foolish and uncalled for. Above all it was simply forbidden in her life. Geet never ignored this rude yet truthful voice that spoke to her, but today Maan was trumping the little sanity that was left in her. It will just have to wait and she would deal with it later.

Her not so friendly pattering had woken up Maan and as he lifted his knuckled hands to clear his vision, he heard the deafening sound that had jilted Geet seconds ago. The dreadful terror on her face had given him clarity over the questions his dazed self had asked and now his body hoisted in alert mode instantly. Swift he was on his feet as he made sense of the sound that thundered inside the room and ignored the aches and pains that spread all over him as he moved in rapid movements. He swung his arm around Geet, grabbing the small handgun from under his pillow, Maan clutched her tightly and the duo paced to the dark room.

All the while Maan sighing in pain and Geet with the death scare written all over her face, she supported Maan and flung the door carelessly. Closing it behind them, she gently pushed him to the hinged corner where the wooden frame met the brick wall.

As Maan slumped back on the wall, closing his eyes to catch his racing breath, he heard the first words of the day from her, ringing with frenzy.

"Aap chahe tho...apni aakhein band kar lijiye..." she asked of him and this had Maan turn to look at her at once. It was a strange request and he could not make sense of her actions either. Has she gone mad? He screamed mentally, unable to voice the urgency he wanted her to take up on.

To him, she would not be able to justify the delay in getting to an unsuspecting door call if she was going to hold up any longer on whomever it was in the hallway. It made sense and yet he watched Geet in silence without protest as a wave of calm washed over him. They were indeed communicating over space and time as he watched in utter amazement, moving her slender fingers over the knot that rested by her ear. Untying the same in a pace that was perhaps not measurable and yet it moved ever so slowly in front of his eyes. He was split right in the middle wanting to push her out of the bathroom and then there was the act that he saw unravel in front of him, held him conflicted. The longing in his eyes was evident as he momentarily forgot the impending judgment that they both awaited.

That was how the world went by in a deathly slow pace for Maan, but in her world, she was filled with terror, frantically pulling out the transparent cloth from over her head as it caressed her fair skin. The moment arrived but Maan was yet to catch a glimpse of the priceless beauty that stayed hidden behind the physical veil and some not so physical ones too. Maan blinked continuously as she moved forward with her back to him, and bent over to clutch a mug of water from a bucket nearby. Careful not to wet any other part of her body, she poured the cold water over her hair and flung the mug around. She straightened herself and wrung the excess water out of her hair and turned in a quick moment and dashed out to meet the stranger's call.

All done and Maan hidden only in just a few minutes, it had seemed painfully long, perhaps even longer than the time she had spent in Rooftop itself. Her thoughts raced back to him as she strode across the room, with every passing second, building up the momentum to the climax. If anything was to go unnervingly wrong, in the instant that was to arrive, he simply had to climb out the bathroom window and wait by the ledge until all danger was out. This was the way it was to end and she prayed devoutly that she never would have to hear a firearm go off in the room she called her abode.

Both had no clue over what was to unfold, as their hearts leapt to their mouths and still the only worry that caught up their minds was over each other's safety. Something worth reflecting upon and yet they would be in denial.

Unbolting the door with her heart being a ticking time bomb, she forced a smile determined to face the small crowd that had gathered by the door. As the doors opened outward, letting the light from the outdoors, slam into the corners of the room, the sight of the three people in front of her relaxed her in no time. The blank looks from the men and the seething women in anger, did not seem like a search troupe that had come for his life, instead it did seem that she was going to be shot down over the delay in answering the door. This was nothing in comparison to the drama she had imagined and now Geet was ready to take up what lingered affront, effortlessly.

It was Sasha and two of her men she normally did rounds with. The cold and hard faces of the men only seemed less menacing and didn't match up to the evil stare that Shasha's abnormally round face gave out. Looking at her wet hair and the slightly drenched top, Shasha had conveniently assumed that she must have been bathing while they had impatiently waited at the door. And this brought down the heat inside Shasha who had serious displeasure over being ignored for the time Geet had not come out of her room. Well Geet did seem genuinely fresh and Shasha had no interest that day to pick on Geet, although she usually did.

Only hoping that Shasha would go ahead to presume that Geet had nothing to hide nor to be found fault with, she had both the doors wide open giving Shasha a chance to scoop the room with her piercing gaze. It could avoid any future enquiries and she sincerely wished for no one to come for her until Maan left Rooftop. No, not even for the mattress, that she secretly wished would never arrive at her doorstep. As Shasha moved straight to the topic she had come to discuss with Geet, she knew that her unplanned action of having both the doors unlatched and opened fully, had done the trick.

Realization dawned on Geet, as the vile Shasha spoke gruntingly, that it was after all not unexpected or sudden at all. That time of the month had arrived when she came around to get Geet out of Rooftop. Geet held the same ease on her face and answered her questions with even-temper. Apart from the reminder that Shasha wanted to lay upon Geet, she had indeed become curious about her absence outside her room. But it can wait for the time, they would be alone down in the hall. Geet was known for her loud mouth and Shasha could not lose face while amidst the hooligans whom she commanded all day. No kidding, but Shasha did believe she was the walking terror of the building and she harshly wanted to keep it that way.

In the meanwhile, Maan had himself stuck between the door and the wall, uncomfortable whatsoever and waited for the threat to disappear. He could not hear the conversation at the door and his patience was weaning slowly with every minute stretching into an aching hour. Waiting to jump out the window onto the ledge any second if needed, he had adrenalin coursing through his stressed veins. Would he do as planned, without checking upon her was another question but he dared not to answer the dispensable question. Everything had made him jittery and he hoped for her to return the same way she had left except perhaps for the dread and horror he could do without.

The slow creaking of the door had given it to him that she was already here. There had been no screams, gasps or arguing that had conveyed a threat and so he went on to safely conclude that it was indeed a false alarm. His hand instantly rose to his shoulder to soothe his throbbing nerves for it had stiffened from the impending peril they had imagined. As the short span of time went by, for her to make an appearance, his eyes fell on the dupatta that was negligently strewn across the floor. Stuck in a dilemma, Maan questioned himself if he should keep away from having a look at her. She had given him a choice and as she had walked out of the bathroom in that torturing second, he had failed to steal a glance, calling upon him to make the decision now.

Partly his mind made sense of all that he did not have to do, going out the window and standing on a ledge three stories high, which now eased him into comfort, and yet the burning question remained. His body was getting out of the fight or flight mode while another storm raged in his mind, attempting to decide if he wanted to see her ever so beautiful face he had dreamt of and longed to peek at.

It was too late, for Geet had just entered the room and stood opposite to him, leaning on the wall with a quiet hand over her forehead.

A smile curved her lips, instantly vaporizing his vocabulary and left him feeling dumb as his mind frantically searched for a word to describe it to him. The world was at a standstill as Maan froze in a trance. Standing by the same corner, she had left him, his arms to his sides, with one hand clutching the gun, his face flushed a deep red. He looked at her intently and keenly wanting to convince that it was a dream, for such face could only be a part of his fantasy.

Her smile grew into a gentle laugh, leaving him even more shocked at the breathtaking beauty he had been deprived of for all the time he had spent with her. It was a sight as that of a golden sun setting by a serene lake, while the silver moon peeked to shower the magic of the night. The zillion stars showed up to sparkle in her eyes and steamers of light came down to kiss upon her porcelain skin. He tried to contain the poetry that his heart breathed out, only to fail and fall again for the divine glow that gleamed in her. Did he have any chance of surviving her? He fisted his hand in angst as a blowing desire to touch her skin and feel her lips shot right through him.

While Maan suffered in agony and still stuck in a haze, Geet had forgotten about the piece of cloth she has so gotten used to being around in. Waves of relief washed over her as she placed a hand on her heaving chest and tried to cool her pulsing beat.

Still wet was her hair from the fake shower she had taken and the droplets lined her smooth skin at random spots, leaving him all the more in anguish. She had no idea of the torture she was putting him under as she relaxed and broke out into a silly laugh over all that she had pictured some ten minutes ago. Geet saw a blank Maan, expressionless staring into her. Catching the stale state he was in, she adopted the same explanation she was giving herself for the stuffy feeling she had been in moments before she had opened the door. There was no way she could have known it was unnecessary and she thanked Babaji incessantly for the smooth sailing that they had done.

As her lips moved in fast and quick movements while uttering her prayers, Maan snapped out of the reverie he was in and was drawn towards her by forces he did not understand. So as Geet opened her eyes, once done with whispering her grace, she found her hands clasped in devotion, grazing his pounding chest. She felt his warm skin by the sides of her hand and grasping the distance between them, a faint shudder ran through her body. Waiting to have her open her eyes, Maan inched in closer, as his mind ignored all the chaos they had lived in. He forgot to think and perhaps even breathe for all that he yearned was to take this vision of a goddess in perfect stillness.

Geet now had a different panic step into her as she hoisted her lids to catch sight of his bare chest and unwillingly moved up his form to meet his eyes. A deep and dark iris greeted her gaze that instilled an uncanny chill in her. Her hazel eyes now awakened a struggle in Maan, as he raised his hand to disperse a blob of water that slid by her cheek. Overcome by surging passion that gripped him, he pulled her closer as his arm encircled her waist, leaving Geet pulsing with an intense need for him.

She feared all that was about to happen, a predicament if ever was to come into existence, would leave them beyond the point of no return. And yet she craved for him, for his touch was pure, his want real. In those unsure moments, she felt the same fire in him that blazed in her as they floated into the depths of insanity. On the other hand, Maan was stripped clear of all questions at the moment, only steered by impulse, he caressed her cheeks.

As his warm breath fell upon her face, she unclasped her hands and rested her cold palms by the corners of his chest, sending nippy tremors all across his body. His piercing gaze locked with hers and tried to get a read of her in that weak moment. Did they want to do this? She beat herself with a question as a coherent thought crossed her mind.

While Maan grappled with his hunger for her and Geet reasoned the act they were about to indulge in, they had unknowingly moved closer to now tremble in sheer agony. The feeling that garnered inside them had no names and the desires that simmered in them required no gates.

How to name it? Her mind lashed while stuck in his sweet embrace.

So...this update has the record of just one dialogue. Something I have never written, perhaps, because this was just supposed to be the first part of the update. LOL. Seriously, I know...I will post the continuation as another update soon. Please comment and post. Looking forward to know your thoughts on this. The schedule is something like this....continuation of this update as another part and then a OS...exclusive.
