Read the last 5 parts back to back in one sitting. Wonderful as always. Why can't we get to see something like this in the serial instead of what they are dishing out at the moment.

Looking forward to Maan accomplishing his mission in HP.

Thanks Hema.I think in the show Geet's family may end up at Maaneet's wedding not because of Maan but because of Arjun who may get them there to create trouble. But to his disappointment, things may work otherwise.

Continued from here:

The next morning Dadima paid a visit to Geet at the outhouse. Geet was surprised to see her there and asked if anything was the matter.

"No beta. I just came to tell you that Maan left for Chandigarh last night to attend an urgent business meeting. He will be back by tomorrow morning in time for the pre-marital ceremonies."

"He left for Chandigarh?" asked Geet in surprise. "He did not mention about this meeting to me yesterday."

"Oh, he got a call after he got back from your place last night and had to leave hurriedly so he could not inform you. He asked me to convey the message to you."

Geet was disappointed that Maan did not speak to her before he left. Seeing her dejected look, Dadi hasten to assure her.

"I think he may call you up when he is a little free. Cheer up and get ready. We'll have breakfast together and spend some time together. When Maan is around, he monopolises you all the time, I hardly get time to interact with you. At least today I can get your undivided attention."

Geet smiled at her fondly and quickly getting ready, she joined Dadi for breakfast.

Later they sat together in the living room, with the Khurana family album and Dadi acquainted Geet with every family member there.

"This is Maan's father," she pointed to a tall good looking gentleman who had a strong resemblance to Dev. He was attired in business suit and held a pipe in his hand. Next to him stood a tall, slim and beautiful lady with large lustrous eyes and neat M-shaped lips.

"This must be Maan's mom," Geet said excitedly. "He looks a lot like her, especially the eyes and lips."

"Yes", smiled Dadi. "He takes after her in looks but he is nothing like her in temperament. She was way too timid and docile. Maan is more like his Dadaji, that is my husband, in that respect."

"Was your husband as short tempered as him?" asked Geet curiously.

"Oh yes! May be worse. I was just fifteen when I got married and he was twice as old as me. At first, I used to literally tremble in fear every time he blew his fuse, which was pretty often. Later I realised he really was a good man with a heart of gold, much like your Maan. Once you understand him, he is really easy to handle."

Geet nodded her head in agreement. "Barking dogs do not bite!" she opined.

Dadi raised her eyebrows at her remark and teased," So are you calling your future husband a dog?"

"No Dadi!" she hastened to rectify her thoughtless remark. "I did not mean that."

"Don't worry. I was only teasing you." Turning her attention back to the photographs, she pointed to a picture of plump cute baby in a cradle, clad only in a white napkin. "Now that is a picture of your man when he was three months old."

Geet's eyes softened seeing it, "Aawww ..." she cooed. "He looks choo... chweeet..."

Dadi nodded her head in agreement. "He was very popular with everyone, constantly pampered by one and all. He had won the 'cutest baby' title in a baby contest."

The next half hour was spent in Geet browsing through several pictures of Maan and Dev at various stages of their childhood. There were a couple of pictures of Pammi, whom Dadima introduced as Dev's mom. Although Geet knew who she was, she did not say anything.

As she flipped through the album, Geet noticed a picture of a couple with a small boy. The man in the picture had a faint resemblance to Dadi. The woman was extremely beautiful. Dadima explained that he was her second son, Amar. He had joined the armed forces and was posted in Kashmir border. He had met and fallen in love with a Kashmiri Muslim girl. As Dadi had reservations accepting a Muslim girl as her daughter-in-law, he was estranged from the family. He had married her and settled in Srinagar. The boy in the picture was their son, Vicky. Five years ago, Maan took up the initiative of tracing his uncle and came to know that he was killed in the Kargil war and his widow died a few months before. He located and brought Vicky home. Dadi showed her another picture of the three brothers together. Geet enquired as to where Vicky was now. Dadi shook her head regretfully saying that they themselves did not know. Vicky had fallen into bad company while in college and had turned a drug addict. Maan did his best to straighten him out and had even admitted him in a drug rehab centre but Vicky escaped from there. All efforts to trace him have been unfruitful till now. Three months ago, Maan had received a tip that Vicky may be in some ashram in Hoshiarpur and had personally gone in search of him but couldn't find him.

Geet finally came to know the real reason for Maan's presence in Hoshiarpur at the time of their meeting. She was under the impression that he had expressly come to buy her land.

Geet was curious to know how Maan's first wife looked like. So she asked Dadima if there were any pictures of Sameera. Dadi was shocked that Geet knew about her. Geet told her that Maan had already confided about his earlier marriage and the reason why it ended. Dadi was happy to know that Maan came clean with his past.

"No, Geet. There are no pictures of Sameera. Maan was so upset and furious with her that he destroyed all her pictures including their wedding photographs."

"Was she beautiful, Dadi?" asked Geet in a small voice.

Dadi smiled and holding her by her chin she assured her, "Yes, but not half as beautiful as you, Geet. Don't you ever feel threatened by her. You are irreplaceable in Maan's life."

Geet blushed a deep red hearing this. Putting away the family album, Geet turned around and asked Dadi something she always wanted to know. "Dadi. Maan is always giving me gifts. I want to give him a gift too. I don't know what to gift him. What does Maan really like?"

Dadi smiled and said, "I've never really seen Maan crave for any materialistic thing. If there is one thing he craves for, it is undivided love. Maan has gone through a very difficult and unhappy childhood. I was also to be blamed for that as I was too absorbed in running the business after his father's death. I was also instrumental in depriving him of the affection he was getting from Dev's mom, Pammi, when I sent her away. He was forced to grow up much before time as he had to make sure Dev did not miss her. He ended up being more than a brother to him. His earlier marriage also brought him nothing but sorrow. It is only since he met you that I am seeing him genuinely happy. You are his greatest gift, Geet. Give him all the love and affection he has missed out on all these years. Make him the centre of your universe. I don't think he needs anything else from you."

Geet nodded her head and said that she will make sure Maan gets all the love she can give him. Dadi expressed her confidence in her and said that she knew Geet will never give her room for complaints. Just then they heard the door bell ring. Geet hurried to open the door to welcome a smart looking lady.

"Come in Mrs. Khanna," welcomed Dadi.

Turning to Geet she said that Mrs. Khanna is a trained masseur and she has come to give a massage to help Geet relax and relieve the tension before the wedding. She asked Mrs. Khanna to be careful with her as Geet was in the family way. Mrs.Khanna nodded her head understandingly and took Geet aside to give her the relaxing massage.

After two hours, Geet felt fresh and rejuvenated and thanked Dadi for all that she had done for her. Later in the day she received a call from Maan. Although she sulked a little and told him that she did not want to speak to him, she soon relented when he told her that he cannot wait to get back home the next morning as he had a huge surprise in store for her. She eagerly awaited her surprise, wondering what it would be this time.
