Within seconds Abhay moved right in front of Pia. He assed Pia's state of mind only it was vacant. Strange this never happened before apart from when Pia had the talisman keeping all forced mind entry a bay.he had a good mind to rollick her doing another disappearing act. It was becoming too much of an occurance. He couldn't afford her to go missing like that. Pia just stared at him as if she were seeing him after a long time. It was unnerving to watch her behave so out of character.

Abhay showing no emptions in his mute tone. He'd levelled his anger down-Pia what is going on here? U keep coming back here. Is it Maithali trying to lure U here for something? I'm fed up of following U around. We have to get out of here before the others notice we're gone.

Pia remained silent smiling at Abhay taking in his dark features. Only it was Maithali who was taking in the whole beauty of Abhay changing her expressions to a fleeting killer smile. She always new Abhay had killer looks back then but this blew her away. She knew now why Pia had always called Abhay her Adonis. He was beyond perfection. Pia wasn't kidding when she'd tattooed Abhay's picture permanently ingrained in her mind. That image had Maithali go crazy with need to be with him. He was within her reach after eons of separation. He was here and she could only just grin like an idiot. Get a grip Maithali U aren't human just a spirit. He thinks your Pia so just act like her. She had to get the ring out of here so the others could locate her. She had to find out what was going on. Dai Maa had promised her to make things right but everything was upside down for starters Abhay wasn't human and she didn't want to think what happened to her. To add to this mess Pia had already captured Abhay's heart but not all of it. There was still hope for a reconciliation. They belonged together. Did then and do now. Maithali could feel Pia's heart work overtime with this rush. Abhay made her feel alive like he always used to in the day.

Abhay knew something was up as soon as he'd touched her. It wasn't Pia but. His face gave away his shock. The one woman who'd rocked his very world and shattered it into a million pieces with her premature death. He still remembered the promise she'd given him of coming back to him at all cost. She'd promised him that even death wouldn't keep them apart. She'd see to it that they'd be safe only they weren't. Maithali perished in the fire taking away his only reason for living. He arrived there too late coming back from the jungle where they always used to meet up. He tried to get in to save Maithali but it was all in vain. At that moment only he and Maithali existed and Pia was gone from his virtual reality. He was back to being that love sick boy who feared nothing for the sake of his love. That was all that mattered. He'd travelled back to the moment he'd relived in his personal hell. Maithali would always hold a candle to his heart. Maithali gave Abhay a grin almost forgetting the ring she was holding.

Abhay dumbstruck could only manage-Maithali!

Maithali flirtatiously in Pia's sweet voice-U look as ravishing as ever Abhayendra. In fact this new look is so U. I can't believe after this long my name is all U can muster Abhay! I like this new take on your name sounds sexy. Still not recovered Abhay come on say something at least.

Abhay forces out the words to come but in his mind he couldn't make them come out right-U finally came back to me Maithali! U came to make good on your promise. I waited. Oh how i've waited through the darkness. Through eternity in this lifeless shell that i am i waited for U. I never gave up on finding U even with the universe against us i never gave up. I can never let U go again Maithali. Never leave me again. I can't go on if U ever left me again.

Maithali hugged Abhay passionately feeling his arms wrapped around her gave her satisfaction. The man she loved was still there only he was now a broken man. How could this happen?-OH Abhay!

The tears wouldn't hold back for Maithali. They had a mind of their own. Abhayendra was still in pain and she'd caused it all. She hadn't meant to bring all this back. The past haunted her but she couldn't allow it to reach the surface for Pia's sanity. It was essential to keep her in one piece. If she disintegrated then there'd be no Maithali. Pia's existence was crucial for Maithali. Even after Pia was looking in from the inside as an outsider looking in Pia held no hatred for Maithali but her pain grew watching Abhay in such a way had made Maithali respect Pia even more than she had before. What a web this all was? Pia wanted to bring Abhay out of his hell and bring light into his life even at the expense of her life reminded her of how she was in those times for Abhayendra she'd lost her own life trying to save Abhay only push him into eternal darkness.

Abhay touches Pia's face outlining it with his fingers searching into her eyes-Maithali why did U leave me alone for so long? Do U even know what i went through in your absence? How much it still hurts to come back here where the only person i ever loved died? I still relive those nightmares everytime i think of U. Burning away while U had me far away from this place. I wish U never broke me out of that cell. I wish your father had killed me instead. Any fate would have been better than the one i'm living if this is what U can even call living. I'm not me any more. Just a monster! A leech.

Maithali took in Abhay's words carefully. Empathy for all his suffering. The anguish in his voice tore her-Abhayendra my love i wish i could bear the brunt of the hell U live in my darling. I wish your pain was mine. This was never supposed to happen. U were supposed to be safe away from hurt forever. What happened to U? U aren't the same man i loved. Your something else aren't U? Something unexpected happened that night.

Abhay poured his heart out to Maithali breaking down as his voice carried a whirlwind full of ache-That night Maithali i returned to the jungle screaming your name out watching U burnt alive was too much to bear. Something kept me from going in. I tried so hard to join with U but i couldn't even step foot in the Palace.

Maithali understood why-Dai Maa! I asked her to save U at all cost. That included staying away from here till it was safe for U to return.

Abhay went on-I roamed around looking to end my life. It wasn't worth living without U. Then i went into some cave like it was calling my name. The voices drew me in. It knew me. The people or whatever they were. They said someone sent them to help me. Dai Maa was fulfilling her promise to U so i let them. I just wanted out Maithali and join U wherever U went. How was i to know that dying didn't mean the end for me. No i had to suffer for letting U die. For watching U turn to dust.

Maithali couldn't hold the tears listening to Abhay had been heartbreaking he'd undergone so much-Abhayendra i didn't know what she was doing. She promised me nothing would hurt U.

Abhay continued on-They sucked the life out of me as if they were doing me a favour. While i fought hard keeping U alive in my thoughts as my life drained out. Then i just saw darkness. When i woke i wasn't me. Didn't feel anything. I was free from the shackles of human emotion. I let loose on the village that took away everything from me. Sparing nobody alive. I killed them all and enjoyed it for over a century. I'm the demon of the night Maithali. Theres no way back for me.

Maithali shuddered to comprehend any of this but knew Dai Maa had cursed them both-Abhay U are not a monster. Stop saying this. If anyones to blame its me. I should have known better than to ask her to help us. I trusted the wrong person. Dai Maa had us fooled. She had me trapped in here so we can never be together.

Abhay held Maithali in his arms.-God i missed U like crazy. I still love U like i did then nothings changed in that. I haven't had U out of my head since i regained my soul. it was a dear father of a gypsy girl i'd brutally killed who'd done me the biggest favour. I'm deliriously happy now i have U back.

Maithali frowned. She wasn't back though. She knew what he was and had to know what she was-Abhay i'm not really back. I too have waited endlessly through the months turning into years into centuries. Isolation is the toughest place to be Abhay. A being cannot sustain themselves alone even if they are an entity.I haven't had it easy either Abhay. While U walked in the darkness i stayed invisible to all even U. I need to find myself again and not in this body. Whatever Dai Maa did is linked to us. I'm in chains Abhay and only I can get myself out of it.

Abhay looked through the eyes of Pia and saw her smile at him-God No! Pia!!!! Maithali what have U done to her?

Maithali saw Abhay torn by Pia's name-I haven't done anything to her Abhay. She is still safe in here (Pointing to her head. Pia had heard everything) U really do love Pia don't U Abhay?

Abhay wasn't denying anything nor confirming anything as he remained silent. How could he be so stupid. He'd opened up to Maithali like an open book giving away all his secrets and Pia was still in there listening. Did she know what he was? He didn't exactly blurt out he was a vampire but he'd given away those people. If they came to know Pia would be dead. He had to do something fast but what. Both women were infuriating as hell. Maithali for bringing out the weakest part of himself he wanted to keep hidden away from all while Pia with her sacrificial lamb act. He loved them both but why was it so hard to even think of one without the other. Pia had an edge getting to him closer with her benevolent nature. She loved with her every fibre its what endeared him to her. Maithali he'd cherished in his heart for so long she was part of him.

Abhay came back to his senses-What's in your hand Maithali? Don't play so innocent with me. It won't work!

Maithali smiled-U switched off your emotions so quickly. Here i was thinking i had my boy back. My love. My life.

Abhay hardened his stance sounding hoarse-i wasn't born yesterday Maithali. U may be my weakness but so is Pia. I don't care what your motives are U are not messing with her do U get me? I want U out of her. This double soul thing will mess her up.

Maithali stopped smiling and presented her poker face-Oh really Abhay. U worry about what will happen to her yet what will happen to me if i leave holds no precedence to U. I'm disappointed in U Abhay. We share the same face. Hold the same spot in your heart yet U show her more concern. Do U think i even want to be in here? I got no choice have I? It was one of the stipulations Dai Maa created for me to get out of here.

Abhay still sticking to his guns-Do what U have to but get out of there. This isn't easy telling U this but U can handle it but Pia can't. She's fragile and the human body can't take it. I love U but this is how it has to be. I am not trying to gain anything from this but i want Pia to live the life she deserves. We've lived our life and what happened to us wasn't fair but i don't want to cause an innocent tp lose their life over us. I've ruined enough lives to last millenniums.

Maithali wasn't pleased-Are U under the disillusion that i will even listen to U. I feel free for once and i'm not giving it up for anyone Abhay. Not even for U. Try and stop me if U can but she's mine Abhay and i'm not letting her go.

Abhay pushed Maithali away from his arms. He had to before he did something stupid. He shouted loud his voive echoing-MAITHALI!!!!!!!!!!

Maithali cackled in hysteria-Maithali what? This obsession has to stop Abhay its making U very dim in the head. I can't believe i still love U for all your flaws. Is this what your sad existence is all about me? There's more to life than Me Abhay. Even your brother had a few screws losse but i thought i'd picked the best of the two.

Abhay screamed-LEAVE HIM OUT!

Maithali shut up on that front but she'd add one more thing to rock the boat. She knew Pia was going to lap this up. Nosy girl was into Abhay's business-Fine Abhay. U killed him big deal thats what these walls echoe. Oh U don't want Pia to know what an evil monster U are.

Abhay grabbed Maithali against the wall and spat out-Keep it shut.

Maithali smiled-That's my boy. Full of anger. Who i fell in love with that day but faking to be one of us wasn't a bright move was it Abhay?

He let go of her-Why do U have to do this Maithali? Why are U like this? U were never this way. So hurtful. U were always perfect. My Maithali wasn't like this.

Maithali mocks Abhay-My Maithali wasn't this way. Do we have the same Maithali here Abhay? I was always playful, loved life but the afterlife has a strange effect on us. U didn't have a soul while i lost my childlike quality U loved so much. I grew up Abhay. I wish i can say the same for U. Little boy lost in the past is what U are Abhay? U reach for the impossible. Its your worst and best quality. Obsessing over Maithali who was long dead and now obsessing over Pia who doesn't want to live. U did that to her Abhay. U take the life out of those U love.

Abhay looks away with renewed anger boiling directly at himself-Your right Maithali. I am killing Pia which is why i have to save her.

Maithali offered Abhay a hint- Tara's right U know to save Pia U have to let her in fully. (Abhay suspicious of Maithali's sudden urge to help Pia) Abhay i'm not a complete heartless B***h. Give me some credit. I'm a lady remember. I know how to keep what i want Abhay it's U who is a novice at this even after all these years.

Abhay was lost. Maithali had him bowled over-What new game is this Metz?

Maithali hated seeing Abhay so doubtful and yes she was causing it with her two faced attitude-I'm holding a ring Abhay. Look at it.

Abhay saw it remembering where he'd seen it as Maithali wore it on Pia's finger-NOOOOOO

Maithali laughed-Yes Abhay. Its the ring of the old religion. U will understand when the time is right but for now i must take a back seat and let her take the wheel. See U soon Abhay.

Maithali was gone leaving Pia to come to the fro nt only she was asleep in Abhay's arms. He didn't dare wake her. She looked like a nymph with the moonlight reflecting on her pale face. How was he going to answer all the new questions she'd have in her head thanks to Maithali. He'd hidden all his secrets so well till now. He was his own worst enemy. He was the pawn being played by the Queen which was Maithali. He understood how he came to be now. He'd heard Maithali's voice waver when she'd heard his side of the story. Something changed in her after. She did a full 180 on him. she was good at spinning her words just like he was only the tables were turned on him. Abhay carried Pia in his arms taking her back to the farmhouse in her bed while Tara and Rosa were just relieved nobody had noticed her go.

Next morning

Misha went into Pia's room where Pia had just woken up feeling refreshed. Pia had the strangest dream of Abhay and Maithali only she knew it was reality. How she knew was the question. She was the viewer looking at a play where the leads were Abhay and Maithali. Pia stretched her arms as she spotted the ring on her finger getting out of bed. It was beautiful must have cost a fortune but it was on Pia's hand reminiscing some flashbacks. Ah yes it was just before the lights went out Maithali wearing it on her fingers Abhay trying to get it off. Pia got ready and went down with Misha where everyone was already packed up with their bags on the floor. They were having breakfast. Pia frowned sadly. She was never this lazy being served by others wasn't what she was used to. Pia saw Abhay was outside away from the group as usual. He never sat round with the others when they'd eat snacks to supper. Pia had a grilling session in store for Abhay. She wasn't going to let Maithali get the better of her expecting to flame him till he was overdone. She was too much. Poor Abhay had the wind taken out of him while Maithali hurt him deeply. Pia could never hurt Abhay in that way knowing full well what it would do to him. she was watching him withdrawn as ever. Pia knew this wasn't the place nor time but she also knew Maithali had her own purpose she was trying to keep Abhay out of. Pia saw the ring on her finger again this time she tried to take it off while Abhay turned around to see if it worked. Pia said Hi to Abhay with a smile. Abhay didn't smile back at all. He just remained on the porch sat down with a grim face.

Kabir hollered Pia over-Come on sleeping Beauty. We've been missing your sweet company since yesterday. Here eat up. We gotta take off soon. Mom and Dad want us home ASAP. College restarts tomorrow and we've taken an extra day here. How are U feeling?

Pia smiled back at Kabir's playful eyes-I'm fighting fit but i'm so sorry for oversleeping. Guess i'm catching up on sleep hey i'll be losing sleep over assignments and classes to attend. God i've not done any packing.

Misha grinned at Pia-No worries dude i did it for U.

Angad laughed out loud-Yeah she dumped all your stuff and made me sit on it while Kabir shut the case shut. Make sure U wash the clotes Misha kinda dropped them on the floor a few times.

Pia smiled at Misha rolling her eyes-Yeah that sums Misha's packing. Too used to having Panchi doing thimgs for her.

Misha complained-Hey thats what big sisters are there for. I'm just glad U didn't get 2 bags full like Tracker. Poor Angad ended up carrying it. More like dragging it.

Kabir asked Pia-Do U regretted coming here? Its not been much fun for U here.

Pia finished taking a bite of her toast-No Kabir it's been an eye opener for me. I've learnt a lot here. We should do this again. Not here but somewhere warmer.

Kabie promised Pia-U know what that will be on my next to do list. Hey i was thinking of Goa but with College restarting we can have that as a treat.

Pia takes a glance at Abhay asking Rosa-Is he Ok?

Rosa answers-No he's cut up by last night.

Kabir was curious-Abhay and cut up? He's the most angst ridden guy i've ever met. What could possibly have him worked up?

Rosa warned Kabir-What we see on the outside isn't always the truth Kabir. Sometimes we hide ourselves so well around others as Abhay is so good at. Just stay out of his way both of U.

Kabir shot back-Gladly! I don't want to waste my time with him anyway. I'm sure Pia has had enough of him too.

Pia's eyes said how she felt to Rosa-He will be Ok Right?

Rosa wasn't so sure-I can't answer that.

Tara responded-Abhay always bounces back just don't say anything.

Misha on the phone to Panchi-Yeah we are on our way out soon. Yes the grim reaper is with us. Kabir is treating him well.

Kabir knew it was Danish asking Panchi to be the peacemaker-Tell her we are all alive nobody's spilt any blood.

Misha passes the phone to Kabir-Hi Panchi! Tell Danish his boss's son is still live and kicking. Though you'd think from the look of him he's lost the most important thing in his life. I didn't know this broody guy could get any darker. Ok i'm hanging up. Bye see U there.

Kabir asked everyone to get their things-OK folks we are off to civilization.

With that they all took off. Pia took another glance at Abhay who looked directly at her. He didn't smile just sulk shifting deeper in his pit. Pia remained with Misha who was smsing T the Bhoot Bangla to freak her out and a picture of Abhay with Pia. This should keep her fuming for the day till they see her. She'd post it on facebook. It would spread like wildfire. As they went out of the Pandher Palace Pia took one last look while Abhay observed Pia's reaction. Her erratic behaviour was going to be evident. Yeah Pia and Maithali were fusing together in the cause for something. Abhay needed to know what it was. Tara steered clear of Abhay for fear of the secret coming out. Maithali had the stupid ring actually Pia had it on. This was a disaster. Maithali had to stay away from them. Abhays survival depended on it. Does she even know what they can do to Abhay. Maithali had this round won but she had to be stopped.
