Chapter 11
'Geeeeet, what is taking so long?' he exclaimed as he made his way back to the bedroom. The door swung open and out walked Geet, dressed in western clothes; Maan couldn't doubt the fluttering that overcame his heart. She was in pair of skinny jeans and a turtle neck- noticing the way it highlighted her curvatious body, he tried to regain some control over his emotions. She had left her hair down and had put on minimal makeup- just enough to enhance her natural beauty. 'Geet what took so long!' Maan questioned as he grabbed the bag trying to calm him self. Geet was getting angry now, he didn't even notice how I looked. The Dusht was back she thought, 'Maan you wouldn't understand, it takes time to look this good, I could have been ready much sooner- that is if I wanted to look like you!' She laughed as she ran out of the cabin. 'Geet get back here and say it to my face!' he shouted running after her. 'Catch me if you can.' she carried on running when she slipped on some ice. 'Ouch' she shouted as she landed on her bottom. Maan ran over laughing at her, 'See Geet, your Babaji didn't like you being mean to me!' he said as he helped her up.' Don't you talk about my Babaji, you could have helped me!' she cried as she threw a snow ball at him. 'Geeeet' 'What Geeeeet' she mimicked. 'Come on we have to go, enough of you bak-bak' He stated as he grabbed her hand and began to walk. She pouted and sulked as they made their way to the main complex that was near. She tried to ignore the feeling that Maan was stirring within her. She couldn't understand why he was having such an effect on her. They made their way to the complex and sat next to the main fire- which seemed to reflect the new found heat between the two. After placing their orders the two lovers sat in silence sipping their hot chocolate and were in awe of the beauty outside. It had finally stopped snowing, which allowed the sun to gleam brightly highlighting the snowflakes.
They spent the day walking along the snow covered hills, enjoying the natural beauty that was all around them. Geet ran over to the ski lifts 'Maan can we go on here?' 'Geet, I don't think they are that safe,' Maan voiced his concern. 'Oh please, pleasssssse' she asked fluttering her eyelashes at him. 'F,f,fine.' He gavedin as he helped her to sit on the lift. Soon after getting into the air Geet became lost in her thoughts. She kept thinking of what happened with Maan, what were they to each other? One thing she was sure about was that she definitely wasn't ready to enter anything serious with him. He was too good for her, she couldn't ruin his life, everything that he had worked so hard for! He seemed to be hurt quite deeply by something in his past and she couldn't guarantee that she too wouldn't hurt him. She finally resolved to talk to him once they got back home. Maan was becoming concerned about her silence and remembered what the doctor had told him, 'he would have to be very careful with Geet- she was in a very delicate state.' Oh Maan what have you done, she wasn't ready for this! He reprimanded himself for being so weak. He too decided that he would have to talk to her when he got a chance.
The two did not talk all the way back to Delhi, secretly stealing glances at each other, they avoided looking the other in the eyes. Geet finally fell asleep as the tension was getting to be too much for her to handle. Finally arriving back to Khurrana Mansion they made their way into the house and were greeted by Dadi. 'I have missed you both' Dadi stated as she hugged them. 'Come on in, you must be hungry.' 'I am going to bed Dadi, see you in the morning.' Maan sternly stated as he walked away, but not with out shooting Geet an angry glare. Tears threatened to escaped her eyes but she knew she had to control herself.
'Woh Dadi, I need to talk to you about something important.' The two women made their way over to the sofa and Geet began. 'Dadi, I think it wont be right for me to stay here, I will go and find a hostel and stay there.' 'Geet beta, what is wrong with you staying here? You are welcome for as long as you want.' 'I know Dadi, thank you, but I need to be independent and do something myself' Silence filled the air as Dadi was deep in thought. The elderly lady was sad that Geet felt that she needed to take this step, but she was a lot more understanding than her grandson and reluctantly gave her blessings. 'Beta, you are always welcome here, if you ever need anything don't be scared to ask.' she said as she hugged Geet tightly. 'Ji Dadi, I am so thankful to you. You don't have to worry I will see you in the office in the morning. Woh, actually is Maan going to be there?' She tried to ask discretely as she could. 'No beta, he only works the odd days and that too in a different branch. We will be working in a different area of Khurrana constructions to him.' Geet was relieved, at least now she would have some space to sort herself out and gain some perspective on all that was happening in her life. One thing she did decide was that she wouldn't give herself to anyone so easily again, the heart was a delicate thing and she couldn't keep hurting hers (and in the process others.)
Thanx a lot dear.... it was gr8!
