Forever ' Part 8

'May I come in, sir?' Geet opened the door while asking for Maan's permission to enter into his cabin. Maan, who was speaking over the phone glanced at her said 'you are already inside' and attended back to his call. Without knowing what to do, Geet stepped out of Maan's cabin and slowly knocked at the door thinking that he would definitely make her crazy if she has to work under so much pressure. 'Yes, come in' came the firm and unfriendly response from her boss, Maan Singh Khurana. Geet kept the bundle of files on the table and answered politely 'Sir, the files'. Maan took the file on top and asked Geet whether she made the detailed analysis of the case, but observed a confused expression on her face. 'I ask you to bring the files and you brought everything here, well, didn't you know that before bringing the files that you have to finish your work?' Maan threw the file onto the table and approached towards Geet, who was shaking due to anger and pain. She felt that drops of tears gathered into the corner of her eyes as she lifted her chin to look at her boss who was mad at her without telling her anything about her job. As she could no longer bear what was going on within her she said to Maan 'I know you are my boss but you don't have the right to tell me anything, without telling me the rules. I am appointed to the post of a secretary here but no one told me about my duties and responsibilities'' before she could complete her sentence Maan hushed at her and corrected her 'you are appointed as my secretary here, Maan Singh Khurana's secretary, understand. Now listen carefully to my rules, rule number one; never forget I'm your boss and you dare not speak while I speak, rule number two; obey my orders number three; think using your brain, not your heart and rule number four and the final rule is don't be emotional with my clients or me' he was only two or three inches away from her then. Geet stepped back from Maan and spoke 'sir, you might not be having a heart or emotions but I have all these things within me so I would react as a normal human being and I cannot act like you, whether you like it or not. If you think I am against your rules you can free me' she was true to herself and each word she said to him was deep from her heart.

Geet answered the phone when it bothered her with ringing but there was no response from the other end so she hung the phone blabbering at the caller. Before she could read three lines from what she was reading the phone rang again and she answered worriedly thinking that no one else would come to answer her calls. The same thing happened this time too making her angrier, she held her hands on her waist and scolded the phone for disturbing her 'if you ring again I will not answer you' she talked to the phone as if she was talking to a human. Before she could sit on the chair the phone rang again and she answered 'see I can't read minds, so why not you tell me your problem'' she went on speaking without giving the caller a chance to say anything to her, but she went silent when she heard her name from the other end 'Geet!' She covered the receiver with her hand thinking that the caller even knew her name 'Geet?' again he spoke breaking the long silence at her end. Geet put the phone down shuddering from what has happened and sat down on her chair. She kept on wondering about the call that disturbed her so much.

When the office was over for the day, Maan wanted to take Geet home with him, but his ego did not allow him to ask her as he did not want to take the risk of rejection by her. He knew that she would not accept his offer because he has yelled at her in front of some of his staff and she would never forgive him for that. But on the other hand his heart forced him to do something for her as she has already reserved a special corner from his ironic heart.
