Alright guys. Thank you so much for keeping up with my irregular updates and commenting and supporting me through a 155 pages of Beete Lamhe 1. Love you all!!

Part 43:

Kripa waved at him as Angad reluctantly pulled out of the huge driveway and left for work. Smirking to herself, she walked into Riddhima's room.

"Riddhima...can you do me a favour?"

Riddhima put her book down and looked at Kripa, raising her eyebrows.

"I'm having cravings." Kripa admitted sheepishly.

Riddhima cocked an eyebrow. "Isn't it too soon to be having cravings?"

Kripa nodded, "that's what I thought, but apparently not...I know for a fact that it's a craving...it's the only thing I can think about. It's a craving! I'm sure!"

Riddhima giggled. "I hope it's not a wild one..."

"I don't know...that's up to you to decide..."

"Ahh, well...let's see. What are you craving for?"

"Chocolate covered cherries!"

Riddhima laughed at the excitement in Kripa's voice. She nodded and walked to Kripa to give her a hug.

"You're so cute Kripa! I would love to go and get some for you but I will not leave you here with mom alone. Special orders from big brother. Sorry."

Kripa glared at her, twitched her lips and turned around in a huff. Riddhima sighed and tried to turn Kripa around. Just then, Armaan walked in.

Riddhima: oh look! Armaan's here. Now he can go and get chocolate covered cherries for you.

Armaan frowned and looked at Riddhima. She quickly edited her own statement.

Riddhima: or...I can go and get them for you and Armaan will give you company.

Armaan: better.

Riddhima rolled her eyed and walked out of the house to get chocolate covered cherries for Kripa. As soon as she left, Armaan picked up the phone. Kripa winked at him and headed for Naina's room.

Armaan: you ready? Enter now.

He was talking to DK on the phone. Armaan went to the main door to try and sneak DK in while Kripa was upstairs with Naina. Naina was sitting at the dressed, layering her face with make-up when Kripa entered with a smile on her face.

"Mamma...I wanted to talk to you about the baby shower. When do we do it? At 7 months? Or after that?"

Naina frowned and stared at Kripa's reflection in the mirror.

Naina: How would I know? Do it whenever you want.

Kripa: are you feeling alright? You look worried.

Naina: I'm good. Go bother someone else with your stupid questions.

Kripa: mamma, I know you are upset that Angad didn't marry Simone...but we were drunk one night and we....made a mistake.

Kripa ran her hand over her belly as if clarifying which mistake she was talking about.

Kripa: after we found out about the pregnancy, they pretty much forced us to get married...Simone was forcing us too. And anyways, she was telling me how she loves someone else...

Kripa noticed confusion and shock cross across Naina's face simultaneously for a second.

Naina: did she tell you his name?

Kripa: Yes she did....it was a weird name.....I think---

"—KRIPA!! I'M HUNGRYY, CAN I GET SOME FOOD??" Armaan screamed from downstairs.

That was her cue. Kripa excused herself right away and walked downstairs into the kitchen. She nearly ran towards DK when she saw him leaning against the counter while Armaan stood beside him.

"Oh My God...I'm so scared." Kripa sounded like she was on the verge of tears.

DK: Kripa Kripa Kripa....don't worry. It will work. We're all going to be safe. Only a few weeks left. Come on, Let go of me...we have to do this before Riddhima comes back.

Naina Khanna was sitting in front of the mirror, grooming herself as if she were getting ready to walk on ramp for a major fashion show. She was looking at the diamond bracelet on her wrist when she caught a fast movement in her peripheral vision. She looked at the mirror to see if something or someone was behind her. She shrugged and looked back at her bracelet when she saw another ghostly movement in her peripheral vision. Now she was spooked.

She stood up and slowly turned around when she felt a presence behind her. What she saw next nearly gave her a heart attack. He stood there with a smile on his face. He was wearing a white shirt and black trousers. Naina opened her mouth to say something but no voice came, only air. She tried to blink but her muscles had frozen due to fear.

He took two steps towards her and the situation finally registered in her mind. She squeezed her eyes shut and let out a blood curling scream. DK ran out of the room as fast as he could. Naina opened her eyes slowly to find the room empty. She looked around the room like a maniac. She was crying her head off when Kripa and Armaan ran in.

Armaan gave it all he had to not burst into laughter. Naina laughing her head off was a sight to see. What they call: one in a million. Kripa rushed to her, stifling her own giggle.

Kripa: what happened mom?

Naina: Kripa...someone is in the house!

Kripa: of course there is...I'm here, Armaan is here....what happened to you?

Naina: no no...I mean someone who doesn't live here!

Armaan: that's ridiculous. Kripa and I were in the living room...We would have seen them if they tried to enter the house.

Naina: n...nn..No....ss...Someone go ch-ch check the house.

Armaan raised his eyebrows and nodded. He turned on his heels and walked out of the room looking as if he were being cautious. Kripa brought the water bottle from Naina's side table and handed it to her to calm her. Naina took a big chug from the bottle until she caught a movement from the corner of her eyes. She choked on the water and spit it out as she saw him enter the room again. She got up, dropping the bottle, letting the water spill on the lovely carpet and backed away. Kripa looked at her confused.

DK gave Naina a flattering smile. Naina pointed in the doorway and screamed again. Kripa rushed to her, holding on to her bulged belly.

Kripa: what is it? What is it?

Naina: look! Hh...hh-he is t..th...there a...ag...again!

Kripa: what? Who? Where?

Naina pointed in the doorway vigorously. Kripa looked at the doorway and looked back at Naina.

Kripa: there is no body there...what are you seeing mom?

Naina: HE'S THERE! LOOK!

Kripa: mom...no one is there!

DK threw his head back and laughed again. Armaan came running in in response to the second scream from Naina. He ran through the doorway, closely avoiding DK. Naina's eyes widened in fear.

Armaan: what?

Naina: right behind you Armaan!

Armaan turned around, stared for two seconds and turned back to Naina. "Right behind me what?"

Naina: HE'S THERE! HE'S THERE! I SEE HIM!

Naina was in hysterics now. Kripa looked at DK and nodded in the slightest. Kripa turned Naina's head so that she was looking at Kripa.

Kripa: relax mom...there is no one there.

While Kripa was talking, DK quickly slipped out of the room and left the mansion as fast as he could. Naina looked towards the doorway again to find it empty.

Kripa: I think you need some sleep mom. Take a nap. I'll get your sleeping pills.

Despite Naina's protests, Armaan and Kripa gave her a sleeping pill and put her to sleep. Once they were sure that Naina was fast asleep, Armaan and Kripa ushered out of the mansion into the outhouse and find DK lying carelessly on the couch.

Armaan: plan 1...successful.

DK: not yet...this needs to repeat until she actually doubts her sanity.

Armaan: won't be too long before that happens. Should have seen her face today!

DK: best expression ever.

Kripa: no its not. The best expression will be when we put our last plan in action.

Kripa looked seriously at DK and Armaan who looked back just as seriously.

DK: what's on your mind Kripa?

Kripa sighed. He always read her too well.

Kripa: I was thinking that we should have Simone with Angad and Riddhima.

Angad came into the living room, looking around restlessly. He called out for Kripa three times and freaked out when he didn't get a reply. He was frantically rushing up the stairs when he saw Riddhima running out of Kripa's room.

"Oh my god bhai! Relax! She's fine. She's taking a nap."

Angad carried on as if she hadn't spoken. When he entered his bedroom, Kripa was slowly getting out of bed. All the yelling had woken her up. Angad let out a sigh of relief. Riddhima rolled her eyes, flung her arms up in the air and left. Kripa looked at Angad and raised an eyebrow questioningly.

Kripa: what happened?

Angad: nothing...just making sure you're alright.

Kripa giggled while Angad looked at her sheepishly. She walked up to him and cupped his cheek with her hand.

Kripa: Angad...Armaan and Riddhima are here with me. And they're making sure I'm not alone for even a second! Don't worry too much about me. I'll be alright.

Angad: Kripa...I know they're here but...I don't know...I just have to make sure myself. How was the day with her?

Kripa: um...she thought she saw someone in her room, but Armaan and I checked the entire house and didn't find anyone...I guess she must have imagined him. I think you should go talk to her...she looked scared.

Angad frowned and nodded. He cupped Kripa's cheek for a second and left to talk to Naina. When he knocked on the door, he didn't get a response from inside. He cracked the door just enough to see inside. She was sleeping. He closed the door and walked back into his room to find Kripa sitting on the bed, lost in deep thoughts. Something was off. He couldn't quite place a finger on it. Not wanting to break her chain of thought, he walked back out and headed towards the living room where Armaan sat in the same pose as Kripa. Elbows resting on knees, fingers entwined with the thumbs resting on their chins. Angad took a seat next to Armaan and placed a hand on his shoulder. Armaan looked at him, noticing him in the room for the first time.

Angad: what up Armaan?

Armaan: nothing...just day dreaming. How was your day at work?

Angad raised an eyebrow. "Don't lie to me...did something happen with mom? Kripa told me that mom thought she saw someone in the room or something."

Armaan nodded. "But that not what I'm worried about...Angad......Naina mom...she...she has a gun."

Angad: I know...that's why I didn't want to leave Kripa alone in the house with her.

Just as Armaan started saying something, a blood-curling scream from upstairs startled them. Angad and Armaan ran up the stairs and reached Naina's room two seconds after Kripa did. Riddhima came out of her room and stood in the doorway speechless. Naina was holding her gun, trying to aim at something in the room. Angad gently pushed Kripa back and stood in front of her. A fearful Kripa clutched Angad's arm.

"MOM! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Riddhima yelled, absolutely terrified. Naina snapped out of it and looked at her audience.

"I keep seeing someone I shouldn't..." Naina admitted carefully.

Angad: what do you mean? Do you know who it is?

Naina: yeah but...I shouldn't see him.

Kripa: you're probably just stressed out. You've had a lot of news to take in since you got here. Just rest. You'll be fine tomorrow mom.

Kripa nodded to Armaan, who went and grabbed Naina's sleeping pills again. Kripa tugged on Angad's arm gently pulling him out of the room. Riddhima followed them out while Armaan gave Naina the two pills instead of one and made her sleep.
