Standing at the edge of the hill, leaning against the bonnet - they stood facing the vast city while silence flowed around them ... The blowing winds conspired against them - her flying hair, made for a beautiful sight which he could not help but stare as his heart swelled up with all the love it had been carrying around for years now ... Taking a deep breath; she turned to face him only to meet his blazing eyes which made her nervous and forced her to back away but this time, he didn't want to let go as he could see the hope in her eyes ... He gently held her hands, igniting the fire inside her and she knew that her life was clinging on him and she could no more run away from it ...

"Kya bas dekhti hi rahogi, Nupur?" he asked, letting a deep weary sigh. He didn't bother to break their eye lock ... She had been so sure of what to say but she could feel her strength flickering and fading ... "I am sorry for everything Nupur ...", he told her, his voice trembling slightly. But she did not seek him for any of this, apology was not what she needed and gaining her confidence, she stepped near - just enough to feel his hot breath on her face; softly closed his mouth with her hand and stared right through his eyes before softly speaking, "Mayank ... kya ab bhi tum chaahte ho ki hum saath ho?" her voice wet and shaky ... His hand reached up and touched her hair, curling a wisp of it around his finger while the other gently touched her tiny waist, "Haan ..." he said still holding her gaze but this time his voice did not tremble ... She gently cupped his cheek and he leaned in to it, letting out a sad breath as his eyes fluttering closed for a moment ... She ran her thumb over his cheek, "I've missed you ..." she admitted as her eyes started getting filled up with tears ... "I've missed you too ..." he said, opening his eyes and meeting her gaze again ...

"Maine tumhara bahut intezaar kiya ..." it was not submission or weakness - it was his strength - to care and love for her even when she left him in vain, alone ... "Tumhe intezaar karne ki zarurat nahi thi .." she hesitated, "Maine nahi kaha tha tumse, ki mera intezaar karna ..." He circled his hand around her waist, "Par tum chaahti thi, nahi? Kya tum nahi chaahti thi ki main tumhara intezaar karun?" "Haan ..." she admitted, "Of course, main chaahti thi ..." "Good." he answered while slowly moving closer to her, "Kyunki maine kiya tumhara intezaar ..." Softly she whispered, "Thank you" as he tugged her closer to him and whispered back, "Anytime ..." With all her innocence, she softly said, "Main bhi tumhara intezaar karungi ..." He wrapped his arms around her, "Good. Par please, phir aisa mat karna - par agar karna pada, to main phir se tumhara intezaar karunga. I'd wait for you again. For a very long time, Nupur ..." She placed her head on his torso and gently teased, "A long time? Not forever?" He smiled and placing his head over hers, "Twenty years, give or take a month ..." he replied, "Main intezaar karunga."

They sat on the bonnet of the car, snuggled near each other wit her head tucked in his neck while his arm around her shoulder as they entwined their fingers and had small smiles on their faces - a peace engulfing their hearts ... Catching up on all the lost years, they had bridged the distances that had crept up in their relationship ... Shedding some unknown tears, bickering over something trivial, passing each other silly smiles - they were back being the lovebirds they were but when Mayank suddenly went quiet, she turned her head slightly in concern ... "Kya hua Mayank?" she said softly while searching his face for something ... He slipped down and stood right in front of her; leaning on to her, "Main in sab mein bahut acha nahi hun, jab tak meri baat poori nahi hoti - kuch mat kehna, theeke?" Puzzled with actions and words she simply nodded, allowing him to continue ... Taking a deep breath, "I love you." She opened her mouth to repeat the phrase but he covered her mouth with his hand, "Don't say anything, remember?" She nodded obediently and he removed his hand ... "You're everything to me, Nupur. I know it sounds like a line, but I really mean it. Uday, Benji and Dia are my best friends, but you give me what they never can: you make me feel alive, you make me have hope and faith and you make me believe that I'm really worth something and that I can actually be happy, and Nupur, I don't think that's common. I don't think everybody finds a person who can . . . can complete them the way you do me." She desperately wanted to say something but bit her lip and held her silence. "I know, humne abhi abhi ek nayi shuruaat ki hai but the truth is that we believe in each other and believe in our love and I know that we are ready for this ..." "Mayank .." she whispered, suddenly knowing where this was going - he couldn't go in any other direction ... He shook his head, once again silencing her, "Nupur, I will always love you. I can't imagine a day in my life that doesn't have you in it, and I know that if my love changes it'll only be to grow greater." he said looking direct in her eyes ... Taking a deep breath, he pulled out the box opening it to display the ring; getting down on the knee, he said, "Will you marry me, Nupur?" Nupur only stared at him. She honestly hadn't seen this coming until he started his speech.

"Nupur?" he said rather nervously, his eyes shining as he looked at her, "Agar tum ... intezaar karna chaahti ho to ...it's okay ... I mean, we are going to get married eventually, right? So ... why not sooner than later ... Aur ... aur agar tum ek lambi engagement chaahti ho to, that's okay too ... I don't mind waiting, main bas chaaha-"

"YES!!" it burst out from her mouth even before she knew what was happening. But it was the truth, she laughed at her enthusiastic shout while beaming at him ... "What?" was all he could manage to say as she caught him off-guard ... "YES!! YES!! YES!!" she repeated, nearly yelling and leaping down, quickly grabbed the box from him and shoved the ring on her finger, staring at it adoringly ... He laughed and relief dripped from his voice, "Tum shaadi karna chaahti ho?" he asked. "Of course!!" She laughed again, feeling giddy as her heart swelled up - she had not felt this way since they shred their first kiss ... As he grinned at her much similar to what he had that day, she grabbed his neck and yanked his face near, pressing her mouth to his rather heatedly and thus after nine years, they shared a kiss ... Pulling apart after what seemed an eternity, panting for breath he asked, "Are you sure, tum intezaar nahi karna chaahti, kyunki-" but before he could say anything, she said rather amused, "Mayank, kya tum chaahte the main haan kahun?" Her heart was somersaulting in celebration. He was hers. "Of course!!", he exclaimed, his eyes going wide being afraid of her changing her decision ... "Bas to phir intezaar ke baare mein ek aur lafz nahi - no more intezaar." She captured his lips in another kiss, pressing her entire body against him. "No more intezaar", he murmured into her mouth ... Pressing butterfly kisses on her face and in the nape of her neck as she snuggled closer to him - they knew that this was one of the best of the nights that were coming near them ...

As they announced their engagement to everyone - a wave of joy hit all of them as finally the dark days were gone and all they could see ahead was the happiness and love in their lives ...

Her father was jumping with joy and was already planning every detail of the wedding himself while Mayank and Nupur didn't even decide a date as they thought of enjoying the era between engagement and wedding. Before long though, they couldn't help but jump in the planner wagon and decided to get married in three months ... They went dress shopping and deciding on all sorts of things - from decorations flowers to venue - from guests to menu but these things were not giving Nupur the peace of mind ...

She just wanted to get married and be done with it. It sounded highly unromantic but the truth was that she just wanted to become Nupur Sharma. And she knew it was not wrong? How more was supposed to wait? She knew there was nothing wrong in desperately wanting to marry Mayank and end the craziness of it.

On Thursday night, after letting a ridiculous notion slip and root in her mind - at two in the morning she had made the resolve and swiftly reached for Mayank's house - in her nightgown - she jumped inside through his window and climbed in his bed, "Utho." she demanded, shaking him. "Mayank!" He opened his eyes groggily and widening once he saw her, he swiped at his face as if rubbing all the sleepiness and pushed himself into a sitting position. "What's the matter?" he asked with voice thick with slumber. "Let's elope." He stared at her. He blinked. He blinked again. "I'm sorry, kya kaha tumne?" "Maine kaha - let's elope." she said not at all moved with his shock. "Nupur--" he began, only to be cut by her as she kept her finger on his mouth and continued, "Main jaanti hun Mayank, ye pagalpan hai par main aur intezaar nahi kar sakti ...Humne apni aadhi zindagi, intezaar mein guzaar di. Main bas abhi aur isi waqt shaadi karna chaahti hun. Agar hum abhi nikalte hain to Benji, Dia aur Uday ko bhi pick kar lenge aur mandir mein jaake, ye kar lenge." "Ye ... matlab ... ye bhaagna." He said slowly. "Haan." she said with no drop of doubt in her voice.

"Tum jaanti ho na, iska matlab ye hoga ki main kabhi tumhaare Dad se nazrein nahi mila paaunga." he asked. "Hum unke liye baad mein fancy ceremony rakh sakte hain par jo real cheez hai, wo aaj aur isi raat ko honi chaahiye." "Are you sure, this is what you want?" he asked putting the lock of her hair behind her ear, "Absolutely positive." came her reply. She knew he was already willing to elope; he would do absolutely anything that she would tell would make her happy and that devotion made her adore him even more. He turned and reached for his phone and car keys, "Then, let's go."

Uday, Benji and Dia firmly protested and tried to convince them otherwise. Mayank told them that if they didn't want to be a part of it - he would call his P.A. who would definitely show up right this second. It worked. "Agar tumhaari shaadi mein koi hoga, to wo hum honge." declared Dia, horrified with Mayank's threat.

They easily found the temple and Mayank offered the priest a hefty sum of money to get them married at four in the morning with all of them being in their night suits with Nupur having a red dupatta over her head ... Uday did all the ceremonies as told by the bleary-eyed priest while Mayank and Nupur beamed at each other - the little girl inside her was delighted.

Dia clapped and cried as priest looked upon shocked while Uday and Benji smirked as Mayank pulled Nupur near as they walked down the stairs and shared their first kiss as a married couple, rather passionately ... Benji chuckled as he put an arm around Dia seeing his best friends kiss in front of the temple and could not help but remark as they pulled out with their foreheads touching while staring in each other's eyes with all their love, "Tum log, thoda bhi intezaar nahi kar sakte the, hain na?"

I will miss it surely !! Please do start a new story after taking a break !
