Chapter 28
She was staring at herself while sitting in front of the mirror for a while now ... She didn't know or maybe couldn't understand what her heart was trying to tell her ... Sighing for the nth time that evening, she got up to change into the gown she had bought for herself when Dia had forced her to go shopping - technically speaking, the gown was Dia's choice and Nupur had no choice but to buy that thing being addressed as a dress ... She got dressed into the burgundy gown with a modest neckline; thing strapped sleeves - leaving her back bare while a long slit on the left side, showed off her well toned leg ... The gown perfectly enhanced her curves, making her look angelic yet desirable ... She curled her hair a bit from the bottom and dressed them in the princess style - the black luscious hair cascading down her shoulder; perfectly framed her beautiful face ... As she finished her look with a touch of eye liner, lip gloss and a gentle blush - she remembered the last time; she had put so much effort in her look - the Farewell Party that was the last party she had been to and even that day, her heart was troubled as it was feeling this moment ... That day she had fear of losing everyone; of loneliness but today was different; her heart felt ignited with a hope of ending this tryst with loneliness but at the same time feared of being pushed further into the dark chambers ...
Least she knew, somewhere in the other corner of the city - a heart was sharing her feelings and was walking on the same line that she was walking on ... Walking out of the cold shower, he dried his hair while staring at the suit, Dia had insisted him to wear - a tuxedo which he never wore as it reminded him of a certain someone who admired tuxedos on men ... But today was different, today she was going to be there in the party and some corner of his heart knew why he had agreed to wear it ... Pushing that thought away, he wore the red shining shirt accompanied by a black glossy tie which complimented his black tuxedo to 't' ... Brushing his hair, he could not help but remember the last party he had attended with her - Farewell Party ... That party had been the beginning of their end - they were so close then but fell apart as the time passed but this time it was different - he could not help but ponder over the hope that maybe this party would mark the beginning of something new - something where they would end together but somewhere resided the fear that; once again they would walk away instead of reconciling with each other ... He walked back to his cupboard and opened the drawer to see the black velvet box sitting there - he didn't know what was he thinking when he bought it two days ago while shopping with Dia ... He delicately opened the box to see the thin gold band holding the diamond rose - he didn't know what made him buy the ring when he clearly knew that there was nothing left between the two of them but somewhere he wanted this to happen - after pondering a lot; he finally put the box in his pocket and picking up his keys; walked towards the parking ...

She had been standing secluded to the wall; wearing a mask on her eyes as she saw everyone wishing Uday and praising the celebration ... She softly smiled before sipping over her drink and sighing as she felt a sudden emptiness and even with everyone around, she felt all lonely amidst the crowd ... Her heart knew why she was feeling the way she was feeling - he was not there ... Was he not attending the party? Was it because of her? She had no answers to these questions ... Dia, Benji and Uday frequently noticed her but everytime they tried to bring her in the party - she wanted to stay afar and watch it all unwind ... She sighed and closed her eyes but a sudden emotion bolted her out of her gloom as she immediately turned around and cocking her head a little to have a better view of the entrance ...
He swiftly parked his car; disconnecting his phone as Dia called him the tenth time to know about his whereabouts ... He was stuck in the traffic and he knew the celebration had already started but truthfully, he was not there for the celebration - it was just an excuse to see her and maybe somewhere if he could just find some sign from her to say that even she wanted both of them to be together ... He climbed up the stairs and walked inside; putting the mask on his eyes which were already searching for the only woman he would love to love ...
"The night has just started ladies and gentlemen, so everyone with their partners on the dance floor!!" With the announcement being made, all the couples started gracing the dance floor - Mayank who had been standing with Benji, started to back away from the crowd but Benji got hold of him and pushed him to the dance floor and went to search for his partner ... In the other corner of the party, Nupur who had been sitting in one corner was pulled by Dia to the center of the party where all the couples were ready to dance to the rhythms of their hearts ...
Staring at the dancing couples, Nupur bit her lip as the memories of the past, flashed in her mind - the dance which she did with him; that night ... Shaking her head, she removed he mask and lowered her head trying to control her racing heart and as she lifted her eyes, the time stopped for her ...
He kept glancing around the party, trying to search for that one face which made his life worth living ... The dancing couples just became the salt on his wounds as he remembered having her in his arms - yet again the past haunted his present and all his heart desired was to feel her near him, once again ... He removed his mask and kept looking around until his search stopped as his eyes locked with the beautiful brown eyes in which he had lost himself years back ...
Pyaar ke liye chaar pal kam nahi the,
Pyaar ke liye, chaar pal kam nahi the ...
Kabhi tum nahi the, kabhi hum nahi the ...
Kabhi tum nahi the ... Kabhi hum nahi the ...
Her heart came in her mouth as she saw him staring at her ... The intense gaze with which his eyes saw her forced her to break the eye lock but she could not control her heart which just wanted to look at him and once again she met his eyes and knew the veils between them were rising ...
Pyaar ke haseen kab ye mausam nahi the,
Pyaar ke haseen kab ye mausam nahi the ...
Kabhi tum nahi the, kabhi hum nahi tha ...
Kabhi tum nahi the ... Kabhi hum nahi the ...
His heartbeats stopped the minute he saw her ... Her eyes had captured him once again and he had no more control over his eyes ... The rising colour on her neck and cheeks further ignited his heart and all he wanted was to savour this moment for a long long time ... He knew tonight, his heart would never be in his control again ...
He walked towards her while her feet were glued to the place she was standing - she didn't want to move away when she could see him coming towards her ... He wanted to forget all that had happened and just wanted to have her near him - wanted to hold her in his arms; to never let her go ... She wanted to feel being loved once again and break away from the walls she had captured herself in ... The gloomy hearts were on fire tonight and the love and passion for each other was burning their insides ...
Ye din barson ke baad aaya,
Kuch tumhe, kuch humein yaad aaya ...
Kasak phir ye; dil mein uthi hai,
Hoton pe baat aake ruki hai ...
Kabhi itne majboor to hum nahi the ...
As he encircled his arm around her waist, she could feel the butterflies in her stomach and as he pulled her near, his breath on her face - magnetized her ... She softly put her arms around his neck still looking in his eyes and all the memories of the past rushed back in her mind ... Together as they glided on the dance floor - she lost herself in him and everything around them depleted in the thin air ... She could feel his warm and rough hand on her back and her heart was fluttering inside her ... She could feel the same emotions she had felt during the rain when she had realised her love for him ... She had an urge to say so many things to him - to tell him, that she still loves - she never stopped loving him but her voice was betraying her ... The mixed up emotions were creating a tempest inside her as she felt herself melting in his arms yet again ...
Pyaar ke liye chaar pal kam nahi the,
Pyaar ke haseen kab ye mausam nahi the ...
Kabhi tum nahi the, kabhi hum nahi the,
Kabhi tum nahi the ... Kabhi hum nahi the ...
He was in a trance and he didn't have any control over his emotions as he twirled her in his arms so that her back would touch his torso ... He tightened his grip over her arms, possessively - he didn't want to lose her ... Her sweet fragrance like that of vanilla and roses was bewitching him and after all they had lost - he didn't want to lose her again ... His heartbeats stopped as he felt her soft lips on his cheek and as he looked into those dilated eyes, his grip over her waist increased ...
As she felt his hands embracing her from the back, she could feel losing herself and his breath on her neck got her goosebumps and that musk and damp rain - masculine smell of his, created a havoc inside her ... Her emotions were certainly no more in her control as she rested her head on his shoulder and gently kissed his cheek ... As his grip on her increased, the fire inside her increased by leaps and bounds ...
Agar tum ye dil maang lete,
Jaaneman hum tumhe jaan dete ...
Tumhe kaise hum bhool jaate,
Mar ke bhi, tum humein yaad aate ...
Tumhe hai pata, bewafa hum nahi the ...
As she gripped his collar while he dipped her, a certain pain engulfed his heart as he noticed the circumstances repeating themselves ... The last time he had danced with her, he had tried to convey his presence in her life but she could not understand him and yet again he wanted to convey his feelings to her and wished that this time at least, she would understand that he would never forget her ... As he pulled her back and with a force twisted her waist in his arms, her hair hit his face - he traced his fingers on her arms and could feel her nervousness - he just wanted her to know that he would have never left her alone - her fears were false .. He just wanted her to know that he really cared for her - he loved her and nothing could change it ... He kissed her neck and all he wanted was to free their hearts from the chains of the past and start all over again ...
Pyaar ke liye chaar pal kam nahi the,
Pyaar ke haseen kab ye mausam nahi the ...
Kabhi tum nahi the, kabhi hum nahi the,
Kabhi tum nahi the ... Kabhi hum nahi the ...
As they stood facing each other in a secluded area of the hall, she softly said, "Mayank, mujhe tumse baat karni hai, kya hum yahaan se ja sakte hain ... please ..." He looked into her dilated eyes - those eyes read something different than what they had been showing him from the past few rendezvous ... He simply nodded and holding her hand, walked out of the restaurant ...
As Benji and Dia noticed them walk out holding hands, they smirked and shook hands before continuing dancing only to notice, their daughter dancing with their best friend ... "Ye dono ek dusre se kab tak door bhaagte aur kaise bhaagte jab inke saare raaste ek dusre par aakar hi khatm hote hain ... kahin bhi jaaye, ek dusre ko khud se juda kar hi nahi sakte ..." thought Uday as he too noticed Mayank and Nupur walking out together ...
Note: Initially, I had thought of extending this chapter with Mayank and Nupur's much awaited conversation but then I thought of creating a separate chapter of their reconciliation - so I hope you like this chapter and with this, we are standing just next to the end of the story ... I hope this chapter was well enough and didn't feel too stretched out ... The song is Pyaar Ke Liye from the movie Dil Kya Kare starring Kajol and Ajay Devgan - I had this song in my mind since October and I was dying to incorporate it in the story ...
