Part 18
They enter in the reception area and over hear a nurse:
Nurse: They looked so cute together! Im telling u anvesha they looked made for each other.
Nurse 2: yh bt who?
Nurse 1: these cute couple in the parking lot. I think they are the doctors who are conducting the conference today. Oh yh! Mr and Mrs Modi
(Sid smiles at their name and Riddhima tries nt to.)
Sid: smile kar sakti ho.... Main kissey seh kahoonga nahin.
(Riddhima walks ahead to make sure Sid dsnt see her smiling. Following her, he enters the conference hall.
The conference began about the betterment of the hospital and SR stood beside one another at the podium. The idea ws tht one wud speak after the other. And fr some reason Sid cudnt concentrate on wht Riddhima ws saying bt ws busy staring at her. The presentation slides kept changing and slowly the doctors in the conference hall noticed Sid intently observing Riddhima. Riddhima finishes and passes the card to Sid. He dsnt realise and continues to observe Riddhima. Riddhima hands him the que card by force and confirms with a firm voice tht:)
Riddhima: Aur abh merey collegue Dr.Siddhant Modi aapko aagey keh details dengey.
Riddhima (whispering): Sid! Ihope tumhari speech tayar hai.
(Sid clearly nt in a state to continue the presentation, goes over wht to say)
Sid (thinking): dude! kya bolna tha? completely bhool gaya! Think Think!
(he looks to Riddhima fr help and Riddhima points to his card bt Sid's thoughts are disturbed once more)
Sid (still thinking): she looks so good in white. she should wear tht more often though I dnt like the color! guess I will start liking it cuz of her. Her dark blue bracelet dsnt go with the look...wonder why she has tht on? Man if only I cud reach out to move tht very annoying strand of hair frm her face and wht the hell is she pointing at?!!
(Before he cud lift a finger to move the strand, he hears ppl clearing their throats and realises the world around him!)
Sid (thinking): FOCUS! yeh day dreaming session baad mein bhi ho sakta hai!
Sid: okay toh hum yahan hospital keh interior keh barey mein baat karney aaye hain...
Doctor: fr a very long time we were trying to do tht.
Sid: ahh right. Toh it is scheduled tht on the 25th which falls on a thursday, a few interior designers will be sent to discuss the color scheme and doctors co-operation is very much needed. Aapka hospital aapke pasand keh colors mein acha lagey ga (he looks to Riddhima and his thoughts are disturbed yet again)
Par meri maano toh white color bohot acha lagta hai saath mein blue bhi theekh hai par light shades mein. White and light blue! It wud be like Im looking at the first ray of sun!
(he once again realises where he stands and pulls his thoughts together)
Wht I mean is tht the color combination wud give the hospital a fresh look and.... welll.... moving on to the doctors behaviour pattern in this hospital. Sanjeevani keh iss branch seh bohot seh complains aayee hain senior management ko. It has been repeatedly tld by the senior management through numerous warning tht the behaviour of doctors towards patients in this hospital dsnt abide by the standard conduct, we expect alot more from doctors in here. (He looks to Riddhima to ask her to change the slide and remembers the way she had smiled amidst all her anger and his thoughts are scattered once again. He looks to his audience)
I mean toda sah ghussa jayez hai aur uss peh jo smile aajaye toh phir toh samjo everything is well. Woh choti si smile purey din keh liye kaafi hai! (a smile sketches on his face as he imagines Riddhima's smile and jst thn he realises wht he's said)
I mean aapkey patients ke liye kaafi hai!
Bas aaj key liye itna hi.
(The very confused crowd of doctors leave the hall. A very sad Sid looks to Riddhima to find her glaring at him.)
Sid: What?
Riddhima: wht do u mean wht?! First ray of sun! Smile purey din ke liye kaafi hai! hw ws all tht related to our discussion!
Sid: Riddhima... woh main... Wht I mean to say is tht...
Riddhima: TAM ki itni yaad aarahi hai toh yahan aaney ki zaroorat kya thi?!
Sid (laughing bt nt only at *TAM* bt also fr the fact tht she hadnt realised he ws toking abt her!): Tamanna?! like seriously?!
Riddhima: Please Sid! I jst dnt wanna tok abt it! I know tumhey lagta hai nothing can hurt me bt somethings do! aur...
(she leaves it at mid sentence and turns to leave bt Sid holds her hand on time and pulls her around. She trips on one of the wires on stage and falls directly on him. She tries to get up bt Sid tightens his grip on her waist and forces her to lay on him for a little longer.)
Sid: nt so soon! (he finally moves his hand across her face and pulls the strand of her behind her ear). Finally! (Riddhima still clueless abt his "Finally")
Sid: toh meri jealous jaansi ki rani ko laga woh sab "TAM" ke liye hai.
Riddhima: oh toh kya Bubbly Aunty ke liye tha? My apologies!
Sid: Tumharey liye!
(Riddhima jst stares at him trying to decipher whether he ws saying the truth or lying. Bt thn she sees honesty and her Sid staring back at her)
*Back Ground Musik!
Hum toh chalein they dost bankey
Jaaney kahan dil mil gayye!*
(Someone enters and seeing thm apologises and leaves. Both Sid and Riddhima get up and she straightens her dress and leaves. Sid sits dwn on the stage's stairs unable to wash off his smile. He ws going through his memories with Riddhima when his phone rings)
Sid: hello!
Tamanna: Good news or Bad news?
Sid: huh?
Tamanna: Shimla mein bhool gaye mujhe?
Sid (seriously confused): Bubbly Aunty?
Tamanna: SID!
Sid: oh Tam! its u.
Tamanna: yes its me! toh good news ya bad news?
Sid: bad?
Tamanna: I left Rana Hospital
Sid: good?
Tamanna: I joined Sanjeevani!
Sid: OH SHIT!
Tamanna: Kya?
Sid: nothing woh mujhe laga mainey cockroach dekh liya tha (clearly lying)
Tamanna: waisey why didnt u call me since ur der?
Sid: Kyunke.... conference! yh the conference! Very hectic week! Sorry cudnt gt to u!
Tamanna: nahin its nt a big deal... I guess.. U know I love u yh?
Sid (nw guilt struck): yh
Tamanna: thts all tht matters!
(she hangs up and Sid sits there with this hole in his chest. He curses himself and once again blames himself)
On the way home (SR)
They were seated in car to head back to the hotel and Riddhima cud sense something ws bothering Sid. She knew she had to let him calm and thn ask. So she waited fr a while and when his grip on the stirring wheel loosened so she thought it fine to ask. She looks to him finally meeting his eyes.
Riddhima: kya hua?
Sid(looks away): kuch nahin woh.....bas....
Riddhima: woh bas kya?
Sid: Tamanna ka aaj phone aaya tha...
Riddhima: and?
Sid: she expressed her side of love... And... I ws..... I mean am guilty... Samajh mein nahin araaha hai keh kaun ghalata hai?
Riddhima: Sid... Tum har baat ko apney aap peh kyun leytey ho? Hamari shaadi... Hamara rishta.. Uss sab ka koi matlab nahin jab tak tum ussey dil seh nahin maanogey...
(Sid takes in a deep breath)
Riddhima: main tumseh jhoote nahin bolongi. I do love u.... Leken zaroori toh nahin keh tum bhi mujhseh pyar karo. Tum jiske saath khush ho ussi keh saath raho. Kyunke mujhe tumhara saath nahin tumhari khushi pyari hai.
(Sid gts hurt by Riddhima's words bt he's nt sure why. He dsnt noe why Riddhima's pain hurt him so much.)
Hotel Scene (SR)
They reach the hotel and Riddhima gts out of the car. They reach the lobby and find a Punjabi family restlessly waiting fr a room. Sid asks Riddhima to go to her room and tht he wud assist the family.
Later in the evening, Riddhima gt changed and ws ready to drift off when she heard tapping on her window. She walks over and joy over takes her as she sees the rain after a very long time. Riddhima in excitement dashes for her balcony while Sid comes in Riddhima's room to tell her tht he has handed his room to the Punjabi family. He walks in with heavy bags and scans the house for Riddhima. With no luck he calls out her name and ws still unable to track her. He thn hears laughter frm balcony and knows its Riddhima.

Sid: Riddhima and laughter! very unusual! dekhna parega!
(He steps out to the balcony and witnesses beauty at its best. Riddhima had her arms open bt didnt move. She wsnt dancing jst letting the rain wash dwn her pain. Sid stood behind her, dazed. He cudnt move cudnt think bt jst stare at her.)

(He takes a step forward without thinking and Riddhima realises someone stood behind her. She turns to find Sid really close to her. Their lips almost met and Sid jst cudnt help staring. He moves forward closer and Riddhima takes a step back. He puts his arm around her waist to hold her still, and right where she belongs. )

Tere Liye..., Dhadke Jiya..., Dhadke Jiya..
(He bends forward and in the process notices blood on her foot. Her foot had gotten cut when she ws moving, he realises. He takes her hand and puts around his shoulder and then carries her in his arms. Riddhima wud hav protested bt nt at this moment. Nt this time. She hung on to him and stared at him while he jst looked onto the door trying very hard nt to make an eye contact.
He takes her to her room. And begins to dress her foot. She is hesitant bt one angry look frm him ws enough to make her reconsider. She sits there while he cautiously puts on the balm. The moment brings back a memory of a similar event during SR honeymoon. She smiles and a tear forms around the corner of her eye, Sid notices it and quickly wipes it off with the back of his hand trying nt to apply balm to her face bt still smudges a little on her cheek and they share a soft laugh. He tries to rub it off bt Riddhima lays her head on his hand. He moves forward and lets her lay her head on his shoulder. He finally meets her eyes and is caught by the longing he saw in thm)

(He moves closer and makes sure Riddhima can rest herself on him. Shy yet smitten by his gesture, she looks down)

(The light frm fire place near by brightened Riddhima's face. She dug her head on his shoulder and jst the fact tht he ws ryt there beside her ws enough to lure her a good night's sleep after ages of restless nights. Bt he didnt sleep. He continued to look at her while she found comfort in his shoulder. He draped his arm around her and covered her with a blanket. The annoying strand of hair positions itself once again infront of Sids view and he slowly removes it making sure it dsnt disturb her. He then got back to staring at her for the night.)
