Part 27:
Dadi is sitting in her room reading a magazine. She calls Nakul and asks him to bring her the gajar ka halwa that is left over from the previous night's party.
Dadi: aur haan, kanjoosi mat kee jiyega … bowl bharke laana ..
Nakul: pari dadi… aapko toh meetha khana mana hai ! Maan baba aur Geet madam ko pata chalega toh dono bahut naraaz ho jayenge …
Dadi: arey … un dono ne hume itni khushi dee hai na .. ke iske baad, iss sab se mujhe kuch nahi hoga .. ab aap jaldi se aa jayiye aur humare liye halwa layiye issey pehle ki maan aa jaye …
As Nakul steps out, a known face stands at the door… dadi looks at her and turns her face away.
Sameera walks into Dadi's room and touches her feet.
Sam: kaisi hai dadi ma?
Dadi: hum theek hai
Sam: aap bilkul nahi badli … you look just the same ..
Dadi smiles ….
Sam: dadi … main jaanti hoon, aap mujhse bahut naraaz hai …
Just then Geet walks into the room with a tray that has tablets and water .
Geet: dadi .. apne subah se dawayi nahi lee .. issi liye main ye layi hoon.. agar aap yeh le lengi toh apko 2 spoons halwa bhi milega …
As Geet helps dadi with the medicines and also feeds the halwa, Sameera observes all of this.
Dadi: sameera, aap inse mili hi hogi na? humare Maan ki hone waali patni hai ye …
Sameera smiles vaguely … and says .. " Haan … bahut sweet hai … ek dum Maan ke liye perfect….."
Geet: dadi .. main aati hoon …
As geet leaves from there Dadi says … " toh kya kar rahi hai aaj kal? Aur aapke husband? Kaise hai wo?
Sameera: sab theek hai dadi … accha … bas aapse milna tha .. main ab nikalti hoon … she touches her feet again and comes out …
She notices Geet and NT talking …
Sam: I cant believe, iss ghar main itna kuch badal gaya hai ? Maan romantic? Dadi so cold? iss weird si ladki ko sab itna pasand karte hai … NT bhi ???
As Geet crosses Sameera after her conversation with NT, her phone rings ….
" Haan maan sir .. maine bas dadi se milne aayi thi …. Aur aap kitne baar phone karenge? Kaam nahi karna aapko ???"
A tinge of uneasiness goes through Sameera as she see's happy chirpy Geet talking to Maan in that tone … she tells herself, it doesn't matter …
NT: bahut bewakoofi waali kaam ki tumne sameera, jo tumne Maan Veerji ke saath aisa kiya .. aur wo geet …she's the lucky one …
Sam: you just haven't changed have you ? abhi bhi wahi low level ki baatein …. I guess I was wrong … kuch log kabhi nahi badalte ….
NT: par Maan veerji toh bahut badal gaye hai …warna humne toh socha tha .. jiss haal main aap unhe akela chodke gayi thi …wo uss dukh se kabhi ubhar nahi payenge .... par lucky Geet .. wo kehte hai na .. one man's loss is another man's gain …. Uss kamzor ghadi main Geet ne Maan se pyar ki do baatien jo karli .. unhe aapko bhoolne ka mauka mil gaya …. After all , kya thi wo yahan aane se pehle? Bas maan ki secretary ? Anyway … I gtg now …
Nt walks away but leaves Sameera in thought and confusion ….
When Maan had called her afte so long … sameera didn't know it was for this reason. She had genuinely been happy that he had remembered her and that perhaps had wanted a reconciliation. She knew she had made a mistake in walking out of his life in that manner. But she knew, Maan had always had a soft spot for her and she knew, she would talk it out with him. She had wanted to explain things to him but he had totally shut himself on her making it impossible for her to get in touch with him. Even now it was when he had gotten in touch with her that she could know anything of him. The only new she had of him had been about his business achievements and how he was a thorough professional.
Sameera is surprised to learn, Maan these days comes home for lunch as well as geet serves him hot paranthas and curry. The way Maan looks at Geet really disturbs Sameera. Maan is so lost around Geet, that he fails to notice most things around him.
Maan: Geet tumne khaya?
Geet: aapke bagair?
Maan: haan lekin aaj main thoda late ho gaya na ? Geet tumhe aise apne khaane peene main late nahi karna chahiye .. abhi baitho aur Nakul dono ko serve karega ….
It is then that he notices Sameera and asks her … " tumne khaya?"
Sam shakes her head meaning no …
Maan: why don't you join us ….
Sameera is glad he has offered ….
Maan: you know sam … geet is the best cook in the world … isne mujhe Punjabi khaane ki itni aadat daaldi hai na, ab mujhe Italian khaane ka mann hi nahi karta …
Sam: don't tell me ….! Mujhe abhi yaad hai tum kitna gussa hue the jab maine parmesan sauce ki jagah, pesto sauce daal dia tha…. Pata hai Geet, teen din tak M ne mujhse baat nahi ki thi ….
Geet on her part also is listening to maan's past not so uncomfortably, when she suddenly notices someone holding her wrist …
Geet turns to look at Maan …
maan: geet .. yeh tum kya kar rahi ho? Dhyaan se khao … tum apne mooh main mirchi daalne waali thi ….
Sameera is kinda annoyed … now this was going over the top …
Geet: oh ho! Maan sir .. Mirchi hi toh hai …
Maan: haan geet, par itni mirchi tumhare liye theek nahi hai …. Yeh lo pani pee lo …
Geet: Maan sir, maine abhi tak mirchi khayi nahi hai ….
Maan: fir bhi … mirchi ka smell bhi kaafi strong hota hai …
Geet: maan sir aap bhi na ….
And so maan feeds her a spoon of the sweet also .. and sameera starts feeling out of place … when she excuses herself as well, they do not realize she had left…
Maan sitting on the sofa after lunch … " Mujhe lagta hai .. aaj main ghar se hi kaam karoonga … sar main dard ho raha hai "
Sameera sitting next to him … " Main press kar doon???" Coming forward offering to …
Maan: Nahi Sam … main theek hoon … bas thodi der so jaunga toh theek jo jayega ….
Maan walks up to sleep, while Geet has his mobile in her hand. Before leaving he tells her …
Maan: Geet agar adi call kare to usey bata dena, main aaj ke saare apapointments kal dekhoonga ….
Geet nods … But a few moments later, when sameera actually see's geet going up, she gets annoyed once more that geet is sticking a little too much around Maan.
That night Sameera is unable to sleep … What she had witnessed in the house that day had left her with so many questions. Maan had been so totally depressed after her, that he had to turn to his personal secretary ? This was getting a little too much for her to handle. Suddenly a hope, out of no where rose inside her heart .. What if Maan had called her here to prove a point? What if he still loved her ? she would have to find out.
