Friends For Life

Mayank was waiting impatiently outside the girls washroom for his best friend - Nupur ... He could not take it more and without thinking twice, entered the washroom to find Nupur on the floor, her hands hiding her face and her knees folded near her .... Mayank looked at her and sighed ... he slowly came down on his knees ... one leg folded and the other's knee touching the floor ... he gently held her by her shoulders ....
Mayank - Nupur ....
Nupur (crying) - Mayank .. please ... mujhe akela chod do ...
Mayank - Nahi ...
Nupur (pleading) - Please Mayank please, please mujhe akela chod do ...
Mayank (sternly) - Nahi ...
She removed her hands from her face and kept them on his chest ...
Nupur - Tum kabhi meri baat kyun nahi maante ....
Mayank - Tum maanti ho?

Nupur removed her hands from his chest and started looking down ... Mayank made her look at him ... as she saw in his eyes, she could not hold herself back and kept her head on his chest ..... Mayank patted her head ....
Nupur - Sorry ....
Mayank - It's okay, aur ab ye rona dhona band karo ....
Nupur (suddenly) - Mayank tum girls washroom mein kya kar rahe ho?
Mayank started laughing at her random question ....
Mayank - Tum ro rahi thi, to chup karaane aaya tha ... (adjusting by her side, keeps his hand on her shoulder and sits beside her) agar chup nahi hoti to college baad nahi aa jaati ...
Nupur - Mayank Sharma (removing his hand) tumhe, tumhe main chodungi nahi ....
Mayank (getting up) - Pehle pakadke to dikhaao

And runs outside, Nupur laughs and starts running behind him ... everyone is staring at them as there are running like mad in the corridors of the college .... they finally reach the garden where Mayank stands quietly near the tree while Nupur is trying to find him ... she was going to put her hand on the tree to take support but instead keeps it on his shoulder and doesn't even realise it ....
Nupur - Ye Mayank ka bacha kahaan gaya?
Mayank - Excuse me, for your kind information ... main kunwara hun ...

Nupur turns to him and sees him flashing his irritating smile ... she came near him and punched him hard ... some tears still rolling from her eyes .... he sweetly wiped them ....

Nupur - Mayank, kaash maine tumhaari baat sun li hoti ....
Mayank - Hmm .... ab chodo bhi, jo hona tha, wo ho gaya ... ab hamesha wahi karna jo main khunga ... theeke ...
Nupur (smiling) - Bilkul nahi ... main jaanti hun tum kya kahoge?
Mayank (eagerly) - Kya?
Nupur - Media padh lo, Eco padhlo .... jo main KABHI NAHI KARUNGI!!
Mayank started laughing accompanied by Nupur ... Both of them sat under the tree ... Nupur's head on Mayank's shoulder ... Mayank was busy chatting something but Nupur's mind was just on a rewind mode .....

Five Months Before
Mayank and Nupur were as usual sitting under a tree .. Nupur was very excited and wanted to tell him something ....
Mayank - Nupur mujhse aur intezaar nahi ho raha, bataao na, kya baat hai?
Nupur - Guess what? He proposed me!!!
Mayank (backslapping her head) - Naam!!
Nupur - Arrey aur kaun, Sameer!!
Mayank - Sameer ... to tumne kya kaha?
Nupur - Mayank! Haan kaha aur kya?
Mayank - Nupur, tum jaanti ho na wo kitna bada flirt hai ...
Nupur - Mayank .... par wo mujhse sach mein pyaar karta hai ... usne kaha ki jab se main uski life mein aayi hun ... tab se uski poori zindagi badal gayi hai ...
Mayank - Nupur, ye dialogue har film mein hero bolta hai ....
Nupur - Aur end mein hero heroine saath hote hai ... wo acha ladka hai Mayank ... aur main uske saath bahut khush hun .... ab please tum bhi khush ho jaao ...
Mayank - Theeke, agar tum khush ho .... to main bhi khush hun ...
Nupur hugs Mayank ...
Nupur - Thanks Mayank ....

Nupur (thinking) - Main kabhi tumhari baat nahi maanti ... kaash wo baat maan leti ...

Two Months Before

Nupur was wearing a white knee-length dress with broad straps and a chest-length denim jacket over it ...
Mayank - Nupur, tumne aise kapde kyun pehne hai?
Nupur - Kyun main achi nahi lag rahi?
Mayank - Achi to lag rahi ho par tumhe suits pehnna pasand hai na ... aise kapde to tumhe pasand nahi the ...
Nupur - Haan ... par Sameer ne kaha ko pasand hai na .... usne mere liye ye gift kharida tha .....
Mayank - Nupur, wo jaanta hai tum aise kapde nahi pehenti phir bhi ....
Nupur - To kya hua Mayank?
Mayank - Nupur pyaar kapdon se nahi hota ....
Nupur - Mayank please .. chodo na ...
Mayank (smiled) - Theeke, main apni philosophy band karta hun, ab class mein chale, late ho raha hai ...
Nupur flashed her 1000-watt smile and walked with him to the class

Nupur (thinking) - Kaash tumhaari philosophy main samajh jaati ....

Some Hours Before
Sameer - It calls for the end, babes ....
Nupur - Par tumne kaha tha, tum mujhse pyaar karte ho ....
Sameer (laughing) - Pyaar? Tumhe seriously lagta hai ki maine tumse pyaar kiya?
Nupur - Matlab?
Sameer - Meri Raj se bet lagi thi ki main tumhe pata kar dikhaaun ... aur main jeet gaya ... so we call it off now ....
Nupur - Aisa kyun kiya?
Sameer - Chill babes aur mujhe behenjiyon se baat karne ki aadat nahi hai .... so bye!!

Mayank noticed that Nupur was really quiet ... a lonely tear escaped from her eyes ... he sighed and wiped it out .... she looked at him ....
Mayank - Nupur, aaj ke liye bahut drama ho gaya .... ab chalo mere saath ...
Nupur (confused) - Kahaan?
Mayank - Ek zaruri kaam niptana hai aur phir ....
Nupur (raising her eyebrows) - Aur phir ....
Mayank (smirked) - Surprise!

Both Mayank and Nupur walked to college ground ... Mayank gives Nupur and five other girls rotten tomatoes and eggs .... and points his finger to Sameer and Raj who are sitting on their bikes and the whole college was there but a bit away from them .... Nupur was horrified but the girls assured her ..... 5 boys who were good friends of Nupur too joined them .....
Mayank (whispered) - One, two, three (shouted) ATTACK!!!!
Sameer and Raj heard Mayank shout and turned towards him and faced all the rotten tomatoes and eggs ... the whole college was laughing on them ....

Nupur whole-heartedly laughed and gave Mayank a hi-5 .... after all the drama unfolded, Mayank and Nupur left for the beach on his bike ....

While Nupur waited near the bike, Mayank brought kulfi for both of them ....
Nupur - Waah Mayank! Maza aa gaya ... unki shakal dekhne laayak thi .... par tumne ye sab kiya kaise?
Mayank - Benji, Uday, Samrat, Adhiraj aur Neil ki help se .... jab hum pedh ke neeche baithe the tab iska arrangement kiya ...
Nupur laughed and kept her hand on his shoulder ...
Nupur - Mayank tum seriously mere best friend ho ....
Mayank (pulling his collar) - Wo to main hun ...
Nupur smiled and shook her head .....

Later both of them played in the water, ran after each other on the beach and as the day curled up ... both sat on the beach and chatted .....
Nupur - Mayank .... kuch bhi ho jaaye, tum hamesha mera saath dete ho ....
Mayank - Dosti ki hai (bending towards her and smirked) nibhaani to padegi ....
Nupur smiled and seeing something widened her eyes ....
Nupur (squealed) - Mayank!!! gubbaare!!!
Mayank - Kya?
Nupur - Mujhe gubbaare chahiye!!
Mayank - Tum bhi na bachhi ho, chalo ....
Both got up, Mayank bought all the balloons for her and handed them to her ... she held them and let them lose and saw them flying in the sky .... both of them smiled and side-hugged each other ....

They were Mayank and Nupur ... since they were kids, they were best friends .... this was just a small event of their lives ... even bigger things ad happened but they never left each other and were always beside each other .... even after their marriage .... no,no,no ... don't take it wrong ... they didn't marry each other ... later Mayank found his true love in Aditi and Nupur in Karan but it didn't affect their friendship and the friendship never affected the marriages .... In all the ups and downs of their lives, they always held each other ... they were Friends For Life ...

P.S - Please don't kill me after this!!!! Try and understand, I wanted to write something different .... a friendship story ... I hope you all are not that annoyed ....😕

v r not at all annoyed dear..it was such a cute story...frend throwing eggs and tomatoes were awesome..loved it to the core......

nice OS sonam ..........loved the friendship of mayur ........but as you know all us mayurians will want mayur together always but not only as friends , as lovers , as husband and wife ..............................but still i loved the concept of their friendship alot ...................it was very interesting nd very beautifully written ...............
